Congratulations Simon, happy to report you won the giveaway! If you could send me an email to digglejunction@gmail.com we'll sort out getting it to you 👍 Thanks for your support and I hope you enjoy it.
This is fantastic. Quite surreal to think we were all allowed to wonder round depots back in the day with very little supervision or health and safety issues! We just about survived 😀Definitely brought back great memories. The 89 looks fabulous! Luke, your channel really is appreciated.
Fantastic tour around a fantastic site, I didn't know just how much stuff they manage to cram in there! And that's very admirable, sending the proceeds to such a brilliant charity. I hope this raises a good amount of money for them! Good luck everyone as well in the giveaway!
Great Video, nice to see some engines that has been sorely missed from the mainline. And to be able to see what the day to day operations look like at LSL.
Great video Luke, lovely to see the shot of D213 Andania, you know that loco is very special to our family so thanks for including it, hope the video makes loads for charity.
simply the best video of 2024 and great seeing class 45 back on mainline and the steamers are just fab too well done locomotive services have done a great job of looking after train company a jewel in the crown. e
Thank you Luke and LSL. Really great to see how the work gets done. A cousin of mine drove the Brighton line and the very first train he drove after signing the line was the Brighton Belle. Memories !!!!!
I can say that was the best railway video of the year for me. Given the NRM is a cafe with a railway theme park attached the LSL works are the enthusiasts NRM. Well done and I hope loads is raised for the charity.
Great video. Many memories flood back. 30 May 1970 was my first visit to Crewe, made with my cousin and old classmate. Scunthorpe to Doncaster, Sheffield (hauled Sheffield to Derby by D1666 on 1V70 "The Cornishman"), Derby and then Crewe (via Stoke on Trent). Crewe became a favourite place to visit, and our route changed from Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly, with electric haulage (normally a class 86) to Crewe. It's awesome to see the old depot used so well, so thanks to all for the video. I very well recall the lineups of Class 50s, 47s, 40s, 25s and 24s that were so commonplace in those days. The AL1 to AL7s (Class 81 to 87) were also lined up, but not on that depot per se. Before 1973, many diesels were still in green livery, some with old style numerals and even "D" prefixes, with half yellow warning panels. Crewe Works were outshopping blue liveries galore by then, with modern numbers and no "D" prefixes. When TOPS was introduced in 1973, the addition of the class numbering started in earnest. Over 50 years later, I am in Sydney (Australia), my cousin was in Singapore, and my old classmate was living in Darlington. On 30 May 2020 we planned to do a 50 year re-union trip to Crewe, but sadly Covid struck. Maybe we'll get that anniversary trip made together sometime soon?
Thanks for the comment mate, great to read through some of those memories. I hope you and the guys manage to arrange a reunion at some point! All the best
Has to be a real eye opening tour as to how much work goes in to keeping the locos and stock operational, all on hallowed ground as well, brought back a lot of memories

I was amazed at the work that goes into preparing for the special tours. As for the price of coal, it makes you appreciate the cost too.
Definitely mate, couldn't believe the price of the stuff. Black gold indeed.
Awesome video Luke, I'm glad to see CD having a second lease of life - it's a shame the same can't be said for the works.
Cheers Ian, yeah definitely a shame
