I have prepared shirazi before, but today I followed your recipe and I say this is the most delicious shirazi I've ever had. I am grateful to you for sharing your gift with the world, Henry.
In India this salad is prime in summer in lunch time in my home but we add green chillies too and sometime we mix this with curd too it's taste amazing
Wow this is wonderful I have everything to make this salad except fresh mint and the Persian lemon juice which I can run down to lilies and get that thank you thank you I love the salad now I can make it myself thanks to you Henry Shalom
Beautiful combination of vegetables and spices. I like the color of the serving dish it gives a great presentation of the food. Great job Sir. Thanks for sharing. Blessings
Actually it is. You can see similar salads in Italy,Balkans,Middle East...The ingrediens will change according to season or avalibility (but the adding feta is very Greek : )
Cheers Henry, love your channel mate👍🏻, just got the big skewers today from eBay and I’m getting on the Iraqi Sheesh kebabs tonight, oh yeah! By the way, you gotta love some of the random and weird comments on UA-cam😂😂 I had a look on this vid, some are totally random as😂😂. Cheers again!
Are Persian limes more similar to normal lemons??? ( I saw they are yellow in the bottle you showed ) here in the states limes are green, so that confused me. So should I use a normal yellow lemon?
persian lime is a triploid cross of lime, lemon and key lime. it has a stronger acidic taste and the color is between green and yellow. also he may be using a commercial brand, which may have food coloring added
Not much. The cucumber lose its texture and becomes a little bit soft. Or maybe that's because I peel the cucumber and chop it fine. But if you're ok with a little bit softer cucumber you can make it one day in advance.
I made it and it taste like there is too much onion. I had to double tomatoes to mellow the flavor. It doesn’t taste the same in Persian restaurants. I don’t think they use that much onion
Hi Viola, personally I serve it this exact same way in my restaurant for the past 6 years, one of the tricks we use is to peel the onions and leave them in the fridge at least 1 day, this reduces its intensity. I hope this helps you :)
You can make it the way you desire. I'm Iranian and I make it with much less onion and without fresh mint. That's the way I prefer it. You can change it to your own tasting.
There are some very generous comments on your cooking , they must be friends and family. It's a typical tossed salad. Self Trained Executive chef? That means you head a large team of chefs in a large hotel or Institution , what's the name? I almost had tears in my eyes the way you scrape the blade of your knife cintinuously acroos your board. That's why it is blunt friend. Your cutting board is messy and your idea of a teaspoon measurement is quite funny. All in all a very amusing video to show apprentice chefs who will learn a lot from watching it. Thankyou , fantastic dish Chef.
Christopher - That is Henry's appeal. No fancy equipment or kitchen, no pretension and simple real ingredients. He wastes no time talking about himself and delivers great ideas that one can cull from his presentations.
Those generous comments are true dear friend.. but not frm frens or family.. but from strangers lyk us who love his cooking.. his style is down to earth and his recipes are to genuinely try out..not for show wid fancy ingredients lyk som fancy chefs!!
Hny, no need to waste so much food! There is nothing wrong with that portion you discarded. Maybe a bit off the tip of cucumber and remove the part of the tomato where the vine held it.. 🤷🏻♀️
Shiraz wine, Shirazi Salad, Shiraz poets (Sadi, Hafez...).. Iran is just fantastic

Can I freeze the salad dressing? I usually freeze lemon/lime juice in a ice cube tray and was thinking if I could do the same with this
Thanks a million

The Persian ones are very sour, that's the main difference. But feel free to use regular lime juice :)

Lemons originated in persia region. That might answer which lemons are the real deal.
A tasty salad 👍
I love your Videos!😍❤️
Do you have a video of how to make „Masto Musir“?
Faboulous, my brother! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😋😋😋😋😋
beautiful
Looks so testy
I'd skip the garlic powder! I'd also seed the tomatoes and the cucumbers so the salad doesn't get soggy!
How far in advance can this be prepared?
Not much.
The cucumber lose its texture and becomes a little bit soft. Or maybe that's because I peel the cucumber and chop it fine. But if you're ok with a little bit softer cucumber you can make it one day in advance.
This was so good!!!
Can you use a yellow Onion

Why is he serving it in a pet bowl?
That’s too much mint my friend powder and the actual mint ?
