We had a family friend that was Assyrian and she would make this all the time!! I’m so happy I’ve found it.. now to put it all together and hope it gives me those memories of her..
I love all Lebanese food and I'm very glad that you introduced us to this iranian favourite, a huge honour to have my parents' country dish featured on your page with all those yummy lebanese dishes :)
@@Feelgoodfoodie great video , personally I don't add black pepper or herbs , I add lemons and olive oil , I prefer lemons over lime , also I add the salt at the very end after its chilled , adding the salt too early makes it sweat so I add salt at the end , for onions I prefer Spanish onions or over red onions .
@@sinabagherisarvestani8924 Some people (myself included) prefer to add salt and let it sweat, that way the salad gets soaked in its own juices which makes a great dressing.
I have now made this 3 times in 2 weeks. Thank you! I have done jalapeño instead of green pepper and THAT IS AMAZING, add fish and well-ah! Civiche I have also just added yellow pepper and that was very good too.
Very grateful for this video! Just made it today and after tasting I can’t wait for dinner because this is going to be a side dish. It tastes better than what I have had in Mediterranean restaurants. Was very easy to make and still flavorful. I cannot wait to try making more of your dishes! Thank you and good health!
Hi yumna, I came here to watch your chia seed video, but then I saw this one. Apart from the fact that you clearly explain everything on your recipe videos, I enjoyed watching the Shirazi salad video even more specially because you mentioned its origin which is a city in Iran, and you mentioned every single detail about the salad and its dressing just like a real “Shirazi” person would do. ( and you also made me miss Iran even more 😂) Thank you so much for spending time and gathering right enough information about each recipe and finally explaining them clearly. I have been following you on instagram for a long time, and I like how productive and energized you are during the day. Being a mom is a full time job itself but you are also a great content creator which means 2 hard jobs at the same time :) I wish you more and more success and I also wish you luck during the moving to the new house process! Cant wait to see the pantry creative recipes :)
We make something similar called Kachumber. I also add pomegranate seeds . My mother sometimes use Anardana powder which is sour cos it is dried pomegranate seeds powder. She also uses Amchur which is dried mango powder at times.
we in shiraz add much more juice to the salad and actually the amount of the juice is more than the other stuff and we make those pieces smaller , that's what makes shiazi salad an unique one, but all in all really good job 👏🏻
omG thank you so much for this recipe. My family and I love going to Masis Kabob because of its delicious salad. We always wondered how to make it until I found this amaizing video. You are just dope!
This looks delicious and nutritious.(Ideas for what to eat it with. Try as is. Alternate version with celery/celery seed. What to eat it with? Small diced - atop crackers? Chunky chopped - in a chicken, tuna, or salmon salad with greens. Could also make it into a chicken, tuna, or salmon salad for a sandwich. And a good glass of tea.)
I am Iranian born in Shiraz. I just wanted to add that we eat this salad at least 2 to 3 times a week, but we don’t add any herbs. But thanks for presenting it.
I pick and wash fresh mint from my garden or store bought mint. I lay it out on a large baking sheet with kitchen towel under it. I remove the kitchen towel the next day but leave it out at room temperature uncovered on a large baking sheet. After 5 days, it will be cunchy. Then you can place in blender or food processor to grind.
Middle eastern cuisine is so good. The funny thing is I'm Italian American and grew up with grandparents who made this with kraft Italian dressing instead of oil and lime.
I am Iranian ❤❤and this salad does not have bell pepper, cilantro and parsley at all and this salad is very delicious if you leave it in the fridge for an hour it will be tastier.❤
I had this in Turkey 🇹🇷 over 20 years ago..I've tried making it myself but it was always missing something..cilantro is the missing piece. I love it on tacos. Thank you ill try this in the morning. I'm half tempted to get up and go make it now.. 🤔 but I probably won't considering it's 2am here in Ireland that and I just realised I've no cilantro. It's something I've not used much in my own cooking but I do give it two my parrot in his chop and the kitchen always smells fantastic after..I'm definitely trying this tomorrow. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Yum 😋
Interesting you call the cucumbers Persian. Here in Australia, they are referred to as Lebanese. 😂 I'm originally Persian myself. Thanks for this awesome representation of the salad.
So funny, this salad is known from India all the way to Africa and all have their little twitch to it. But the same basic ingredients. And every cook in each nation will have an own recipe. Fact is, it’s delicious and refreshing!
Great tutorial of Shirazi salad (btw, it's pronounced "sheerazee" not "shrazi" : ), but you must not have grown up in an Iranian household, because we Iranians make the salad with extra juicy tomatoes so that we can fight over who gets to drink the left-over salad-juice at the end of the meal. Haha.
The original recipe in shiraz is with grape vinegar and dried parsley-mint mix .lime juice is optional (if you don't have grape vinegar) never had olive oil & cilantro in it and I think it will not taste as it should with. trust me that will taste totally different.

Hi 👋 i made this recipe for today dinner for my madam 😋 😊 ☺ 🤗
Hope you enjoyed it!
Would you kindly share with us other Persian recipes?
How long would this last in the fridge? Seems a great way for me to add in veggies to my diet if it can last a week or so prepped ahead of time.
You can chop the veggies and keep them covered in the fridge for a day or two and the dressing can be mixed and stored separately for up to 5 days.
How do you dry out your fresh mint? It looks vibrant in colour. I used the oven last time and it turned black!

Guess they're called different names depending on where you are!
If you could seasoned it with Sour grape juice.. your salad would be perfect.. we Shirazian people would never use Lemon juice in it
Have you sprinkled some of this salad on top of the falafel in the sandwich?
OMG yes! It's teh best

I made this and it turned out very good. The only thing is that my tomatoes were still squishy and not crunchy
Yay!! Getting the right tomatoes definitely makes a difference.
Use Roma tomatoes and make sure they’re really firm when you buy them
@@AereForst thank you!! I’ll try it out
I’ve been seeing recipes online that add Sumac.... are they wrong?
It isn't wrong, it's just a different take on it.

Just a note that if you happen to have a glass of Verjuice (unripe grape juice) to add, it’d make it extra delicious!
