Fun Fact: Insomniac invented a little thing called Level of Detail for this very game. Rather than using fog to cover up poor draw distance, each structure or part of the landscape would get less detailed the farther you got from it and vice versa, ensuring the world's still _look_ big but don't mess with the game's performance!

The thing that always bugged me-even as a kid-about releasing the dragons is that sometimes their dialog just explained a game mechanic that you _had_ to already use just to release the dragon in the first place. Like, thanks for telling me how to defeat the enemies that were in front of you… after I already did.
I think the designers assumed folks would... circumvent the enemies that they couldn't defeat, save the dragons, and then you'd learn how to deal with them in case you didn't know. ...then there's the moments where you absolutely need to use a glide to reach them, and then they teach you about the glide. Yeah, unless they talk about "do it at the tip of the top of the tip of your jump" schpiel (which is common sense but what can ya do), no excuses about that one.

It doesn't surprise me, even Spyro 2's roadblocks are easy, the one I notice a lot is Autumn Plain's professor door needing 8 orbs. But for me Spyro 1's Beast Maker's balloonist I need more dragons, otherwise I just get enough for every level. So 100% players rarely notice it, but I too thought I'd comment on that, since it should have been noticed when making a re-review. Or even as a Spyro fan, its not a tough detail to miss.
I attempted to try a playthrough where I get less collectables, but the Spyro wiki has the requirements for the game so I gave up on that playthrough and I also watched a Spyro 2 video on the requirements or skipped over dialogue responses and the games roadblocks are really easy. The highest of requirements is like 40 or so orbs I think for Ripto or something else. Its just sad when you 100% it but notice the easy requirements. Spyro 3's I don't know though about its roadblocks since for the most part I thought only Sunrise Spring's level needed the egg counts, but I 100% the game everytime I play and not checked the wiki so I'm not sure. But considering doing it now to be sure. ua-cam.com/video/ELFePz0IEDA/v-deo.html (Spyro 2 gem/orb roadblocks) spyro.wikia.com/wiki/Balloonists (balloonists requirements) That seems about it for my findings of requirements unless you really do play the game with less collecting.

Spyro 1's my favourite because of the lack of back tracking and relatively low difficulty. It's a really nice game to just start up and fully complete in one run from memory alone. It's really relaxing and a great way to come down from a hectic day.

People always think I’m weird for saying this but I actually do really like the bosses in Spyro 1. They’re just so simple, they feel like these overhyped occupants of each world and it’s just funny to me how easy they are. They fit the game in a weird way.
I wouldn't necessarily say that there is no reward for collecting all the gems, dragons, and dragon eggs. You do unlock a secret level, Gnasty's Loot. And you also get the real ending if you 100% Gnasty's Loot.

Jump On Everything Not only that! In his last Spyro review (A Hero's Tail), he said "It'll all be downhill from here" meaning that he would review the other Spyro games (such as my fav, TLoS). I think he's avoiding it. Regarding PokéPark, I should watch that video! Hopefully, he'll review the sequel soon.
Because so many people already asked why this was reuploaded (and some of you are calling it "reignited"), it was because there was an audio mastering issue, at the part where Ant is showcasing Spyro getting back a dragon egg from one of the Egg Thieves.
not from me. I totaly agree. I much prefere the simplicity of spyro 1 to Spyro 2. While i generaly like how they the attempt of more storytelling its to much packed with two times minigames that are not so fun for the most part, so i never 100% it. Still play if from time to time. Spyro 3 made everything a lot better but i still like the first Spyro the most.
Oh man, I grew up with Spyro. Next to Jumping Flash!, Ridge Racer, and Crash, Spyro the Dragon was part of my go to games back in the day and still is even today. I especially like that little chime the game makes when you pause it--i hope I can make it into a ringtone on my phone one day.
at least i have good internet. so this really isn't a problem for me. but i'm not the type of person who cancels their pre order of a childhood game remade in HD just because i'm too lazy to download. well i believe (imo) that activision wrote that in a way that people misunderstood them and it turned out that it was just a day 1 patch thing. i'm not defending them just to be clear, but that's what i believe
The first two games of the trilogy were a part of my childhood (Spyro 2 I am the most fond of), I never played Year of the Dragon until YEARS later where I got the digital version. Actually, I do have a copy of Year of the Dragon, but it's an unofficial copy, and the boot up sequence of the pirated version scared the crap out of me.
Ah, Spyro. The game that started my unhealthy obsession with collecting every single shiny mcguffin in every game I have ever played since. Story? Bah! Who needs it? Give me the shiny mcguffin!
I kinda like how Spyro evolved pretty much the same way as Crash. A pretty good PS1 trilogy Forgettable first PS2 games, not made by their original creators Not comepletely awesome, but still pretty good GBA games Awesome second PS2 games Pretty weird changes to the games Made appearances in Skylanders A remastered version of the original trilogy
Great video, nice to hear someone else say that the original Spyro was empty and not THAT great. Also, nice to see the video show up in my subscriptions this time. I only saw the previous upload because I got a notification lol.
Sucks that their is going to be one disk in the physical copy and the other 2 being digital download 😒 would have loved to have all 3 disks I guess it's a dream of the past

I love spyro, BUT WHERE'S THE POKEPARK 2 VIDEO?!
That game was hype back when it first came out, I loved that when I was younger
this video brings back so many memories.(the game(nostalgia), the original spyro video, and the video that this is a reupload of)
To be fair the collectables are used to unlock the next world from the balloonists
NickyvMLP love your pfp..

Ahhhhh spyro 1, my favourite game of all time
#Crash&Spyro4Smash
I will like spyro in smash too. I haven’t played any crash bandicoot games
Because so many people already asked why this was reuploaded (and some of you are calling it "reignited"), it was because there was an audio mastering issue, at the part where Ant is showcasing Spyro getting back a dragon egg from one of the Egg Thieves.
I'm probably going to get crucified but
Spyro 1>Spyro 2
Ginger Conker I agree, I Much prefer the aesthetic of the first game compared to 2 and 3
not from me.
Re-upload?
Shaun Snivy Yea, though I'm not sure why. I saw the original video, and there wasn't anything wrong with it.
Actually, if I recall correctly, Gnasty's Loot only unlocks once you have all the gems in the game outside of that level.
Congratulations to Activision for locking away Spyro 2 and 3 from the physical release. You've truly proven yourselves to be the next EA.
MiREK ehhhhh kind of but this video should explain most of the problem ua-cam.com/video/GlhvOnEFGAE/v-deo.html
MiREK
Thanks Activision, you fucked us over again
NO! DON'T BRING THAT HERE! I'M ABSOLUTELY SICK OF IT!!! I'M SICK OF HEARING PEOPLE TALK ABOUT THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE PROBLEM!
BlueBubbleBox 13 Yeah, I don't like that scandal either, but what did we expect? They're Activision. They are known for anti-consumer practices.
at least i have good internet. so this really isn't a problem for me. but i'm not the type of person who cancels their pre order of a childhood game remade in HD just because i'm too lazy to download. well i believe (imo) that activision wrote that in a way that people misunderstood them and it turned out that it was just a day 1 patch thing. i'm not defending them just to be clear, but that's what i believe
AntDude, we share that similar Crash/Spyro PS1 upbringing! The hype for the trilogy is too real!
Who’s Spyro? But that purple dragon looks kinda like that guy from sky landers.
Is this a joke or are you sincere?
That is spyro skylanders is part of the spyro canon
It has been established that both spyros are separate characters.
Nice B8 M8
A Spyro Bullet Club shirt? Nice!
11:21-11:24 Thank you so much for including that
Wait reupload?
Ah, Spyro. The game that started my unhealthy obsession with collecting every single shiny mcguffin in every game I have ever played since. Story? Bah! Who needs it? Give me the shiny mcguffin!
its funny because as a kid i never played this game because spyro was purple, and i thought this was a girl game.
yeah thats it
The sudden overwhelming nostalgic desire to replay the Spyro games.
I agree.
I kinda like how Spyro evolved pretty much the same way as Crash.
A pretty good PS1 trilogy
Forgettable first PS2 games, not made by their original creators
Not comepletely awesome, but still pretty good GBA games
Awesome second PS2 games
Pretty weird changes to the games
Made appearances in Skylanders
A remastered version of the original trilogy
THANK YOU FOR RELEASING ME!!
Is sonic
Jasper’s Will to live What?
Jasper’s Will to live sonic sucks
Prove me right
Knight Of Gaming
It's a reference to Antdude's review of Crash Twinsanity
Jacob Negretes
Wow. Doesn't know what an opinion is and uses the wrong "you're"... that's a target
Jasper’s Will to live I remember that reference lol
Wow antdude actually beat Caddicarus to the punch. Antdude is the better UA-camr here
Remember Caddi said he'd need to reach 1 million subs before he'd do this well... That took too damn long so
3:32 His arm fat jiggled and thats my muscle basically.
Star Power* I can't unsee that now
Great video, nice to hear someone else say that the original Spyro was empty and not THAT great. Also, nice to see the video show up in my subscriptions this time. I only saw the previous upload because I got a notification lol.
Still sucks that all 3 games aren’t on one disc.
Wow, Imagine if all these 3 games were in 1 disc except it's just one 1 game and the other 2 are download only. That would be weird, wouldn't it?
please just stop. i'm not defending activision. i'm just starting to get sick of people talking about this crap
Why did you re posted this video?
It’s not a re post! It’s reignited!
I love how the Amanda Show is in Spyro 1
Well, Spyro the Dragon's soundtrack are being composed by the former drummer of The Police, Stewart Copeland.
Fun fact: the level Wizard Peak from the original Spyro was later used as the theme song for Nickelodeon's 1999 sketch comedy show, The Amanda Show.
Everytime I heard the Amanda show theme I always wondered where I heard that song before, it wasn't until the last 10 years I learned.
Sucks that their is going to be one disk in the physical copy and the other 2 being digital download 😒 would have loved to have all 3 disks I guess it's a dream of the past
Crystal McLean the developers confirmed they convinced activism to let them delay the game by a month or two so that they can have all 3 games on one disc and make the experience as good as possible.
Fidelio that's great I'm glad they are doing that... Finally 😆
