Fun fact: there used to be a banjo "remake" in development where the characters slowly became aware that they are in a remake thus changing the events of the game. For example the termite queen coming out of the hill and Conga defeating her. It sadly got canceled. Guess which game it turned into. Btw it was called "Banjo X"

If Banjo-Threeie does come out and not continue after Nuts and Bolts, then that means LoG was SO defeated by his business views, he literally de-canonized himself and his timeline which in turn, not only says he is admitting he was VERY wrong but also that he was useless as a whole to the universe

Naaah, it's super bare bones, the world is a wasteland, some missions are the definition of tedious.
The mechanics are fine and the building is fun. Everything else really don't click as a cohese product. Every little thing pulls in different directions.
It can be a good concept, but its a bad game and an awful sequel.

Yooka-Laylee isn't a bad game. It's just not Banjo. It's like you're dog running away and your parents got you a new dog that looks just like your old dog. It's fine, but it's just not the same.
In what world is Yooka-Laylee not Banjo? The main problem with it is literally that it's so Banjo that they forgot they also had to innovate on their 20 years old gameplay and also give the game an identity of its own.
@poudink5791 That was my point. It is a Banjo-Kazooie game in everything but name and characters, but the soul isn't there. I go to the ice world, hear the music, and think, "This is nice. I kinda like it, but I want to play Freezeezy Peak." I go to the swamp level and think, "This is great, but I want Bubble Gloop Swamp." Even original levels like the casino I'm like, "I would rather play any other casino level. This is just too overwhelming." They didn't make anything better. It's the same but bigger and messier.
@@poudink5791No, the main problem with Yooka Laylee was that the levels were way too big and disjointed. What should have happened was that every expansion made a completely new area instead of expanding the existing world. It could have worked if the levels were much smaller, but have multiple areas to them, with maybe one or two big levels. It would have been good if they had a collectible tracker for the competition that you could get as a tonic. There was a lot of empty exploration without much payoff to it.
I feel like way too few reviewers try to review this game ever since Jontron did. I'm glad to see more

I also don't mind the art Direction in Nuts and Bolts, aside from the fact that's some of the characters toenails look like they're growing inside their toes instead of outward.

Finally, one of the major game reviewers online doing a proper review of Nuts & Bolts. No offense to JonTron, but it seems like he made a review based on the first two hours of gameplay and then stopped. Thank you for making this review, man :)

Honestly, AntDude is one of a few people to do proper reviews on games with different formulas. To be honest, I'm getting tired of the whole "Oh, it's different! Therefore it's bad!" argument. Sure, not all changes are good, but a different formula dosen't automatically makes the game bad.

i like trying to stack as many jiggies as possible and try balancing them all while avoiding the police because i couldnt be damned bribing the pig officer since id rather spend my well earned notes on wumba's shop. yes i believe boggy's gym is also worthless considering that 95% of the game is using vehicles to traverse through the worlds in the game which it allot more fun than walking especially making vehicles that should not work but works anyway. most of the grunty challenges suck to be honest. they are extremly easy, and on the logbox 720 one i used a plane instead of a boat and completely wrecked grunty. also the sticky ball is op in certain situations like in the metal mr patch if you use the sticky ball right you *OBLITERATE* him. and you get 2 in the game.

15:34 Seems to me like your problem could have been solved by using the sticky ball. Also, if you got at least 90 jiggys and beat Grunty in the terror level then you would get the horn upgrade, and therefore access to the super parts which would help you considerably.

I'd say this is actually a better review than JonTron's. Purely for the fact that this one was more well rounded and informed me about the game better. It's a way more clear picture than what most others have provided, nice work AntDude!
To be fair, you could say that about lot if reviews of Nuts and Bolts.
JonTron's was built off the initial backlash the game had. Which is entertaining in it's own right, but for a more levelheaded and fair review, this and The Completionist have the best reviews
I think somewhere Jontron said he hadn't actually played the game for longer than a few hours before making a video on it. His reviews were never meant to be serious reviews. They were about making a funny video/skit in the guise of a review show. He saw the backlash the game was having, saw potential for a video, and then people loved it but also a lot of people took it as an "Official review" and took his video as their own opinion about the game.

@Gabriel Mota The decision of adding cars was made by the developers themselves and not by Microsoft. The developers behind Rare stated in multiple interviews that they had a lot of freedom regarding their games and that most projects failed due to poor managment, so stop spreading rumours of Microsoft being some kind of dictator.
I feel as though Nuts n' Bolts would have fared a lot better as its own IP, than as a shoehorned spinoff that seemed to go out of its way to shit on fans of the first two games. Also, L.O.G. is the worst video game character ever.

This game is a great time as long as you mentally separate it into the 'spin-off' category. The only other good vehicular construction game is Besiege, but that one's more tactical than racing. I can understand why the devs made it, they probably had no idea how to make a worthy platformer/collect-a-thon after key team members left Rare.
Actually, a different dev team came up with the core gameplay (the car building and driving), but didn't really have much beyond that. Somehow Banjo was brought in and we wound up with Nuts and Bolts. At least that's what I heard happen.

I used to watch my older brother play this game as a kid, I'm a bit sad you didn't mention that it had a multiplayer aspect. This game was my shit, I didn't even know that there were other banjo games until I decided to look this up

I've not played this game before but is it really even that bad of a game? Or do people just complain about it because it has Banjo-Kazooie in the title but isn't really a Banjo-Kazooie game. As a racing game how is it? I feel like if it had been called something like "Blinx the Cat in Nuts & Bolts" then people wouldn't even complain about it.
@@HerecomestheCalavera it's not a bad game per se but the physics is a little... off, the challenges are all either trivial or hellish with nothing in the middle, and the best part of it is making designs and messing around with them in the levels.

I wouldn’t say you offended the lunar jet man fandom but you certainly missed the point, those ZX Spectrum in the collection because back in the 80s in England most people had a Spectrum and remember Ultimate Play the Game, those games are there for people who played them as kids and want to see them again for nostalgia, they weren’t included because they are masterpieces and the American players who never had a spectrum need to play them. Cutting them out would be like rereleasing all the Sonic Games but not including the Master System games since “no one had one and they aren’t any good”, when the first half only applies to America and the rest isn’t true. The ZX Spectrum sold a huge amount of units in England, (and the master system did much better than the NES here) and since Rareware is a British company it makes sense to include their ZX Spectrum heritage.

What they should of done with Nuts & Bolts is have some of the old collectathon gameplay from Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie, (Such as keep at least some of the old moves like the Egg Firing and Talon Trout.) And make it so you can collect some of the Jiggies by exploring the world, and some by doing vehicle missions, and also make it so you can only use vehicles in showdown town, the testing area, and in vehicle missions, but not outside of missions.
If they went with this, I think Nuts & Bolts would be a good Banjo & Kazooie Game.
I think people are really hard on this game since they don’t understand why the game was made like this. I saw an interview with Rareware about this game, and they genuinely cared while making it, they didn’t just take Banjo and shove him in a crappy cart game because they were lazy or wanted money. Rareware knew that platformers were going out of fashion, and wanted to make a game that would appeal to younger audiences but would still be enjoyable to older fans, and I think they nailed it, I didn’t grow up with a 360 but I would’ve loved this if I did, I spent so many hours on Minecraft as a kid and I always wanted a game where I could build a vehicle out of blocks and control it in a 3D space; which is exactly what this is! I’m sure a lot of people loved this as kids.
Unfortunately, it was badly revealed and a lot of people just instantly jumped onto the hate bandwagon about how Rareware had ruined Banjo because Microsoft brought them, and I think a big part of that was their British humour; I’m British too and that entire intro made me laugh my ass off, it’s sarcastically mocking platformers because they were amazing, it’s not seriously saying they’re crap and no one wants them anymore, it’s just taking the piss and saying that you should try something new. I think most people who played this were American, and took that kind of as a personal attack on their love of Banjo platformers.
I think it’s important to remember that even if this wasn’t the game people wanted, Rareware really cared and wanted to make a game kids could enjoy. I don’t think it’s perfect, I do think it definitely needed some less empty levels and better character designs, but I wouldn’t call it a bad game.
The main reason I play nuts and bolts is because I just like crashing my cars and flying around the levels, but I still have to play through some of the game in order to get what I want
Suddenly L.O.G, the Lord of Games, appears in front of Banjo and Grunthilda. He was probably the Lord of Games in the earlier games too, even though we never heard about him. And in "Mortal Kombat 11" we find out Kronika is the true main antagonist of the entire series...

I played nuts and bolts before I even knew there were other banjo games. As a stand alone title, it was pretty fun.
I have childhood memories of nuts and bolts, never understood why people hated it. maybe its because I never played any of the other banjo kazooie games prior.

The reasons this game got so heavily criticized are:
1. Banjo-Threeie being promised and not delivered.
2. They put the brand's IP and characters onto a game that's a bit half-assed with a lot a massive spaces that are empty and Lego cars..
3. Said spin-off that was half-assed and had a lot of empty space and had Lego cars could've been a good game if the various empty spaces had things fill them, various unnecessary mechanics replaced or redone, and were named a different IP..
4. The "look at this as a big playground" angle does not fix these fundamental issues.
5. LOG as a character absolutely sucks
This is the list of problems and why Nuts and Bolts is still disliked at worst or mixed at best to this day.

I always come back to this game just to make something new, at one point I made the eggmobile and buzz bomber from sonic. I even attempted the moto bug but it's really hard to get a vehicle to balance on one wheel and stay stable

I love how annoyed Anthony and Kazooie are and how derpy the Jinjo is on the thumbnail.
What if the proper Banjo 3 were to also include some light vehicle building elements?
Like, it's still a proper collectathon platformer, but there's a few Jiggy missions per world that require a vehicle. Or after completing certain missions, the option to use vehicles freely in the area opens up.
It would take some tweaking to make it work as, for instance, being able to build a helicopter would make flying with Kazooie irrelevant. But I also think the vehicle building in conjunction with the traditional Bear and Bird abilities would lead to some interesting outside-the-box solutions.
I enjoyed this game more than Banjo-Tooie. There, I said it.
This game was more of my childhood than banjo kazooie was it’s self. That made the classic games shine even brighter

I managed to reinstall 10 games, but only these 10 specifically because, it stopped working and crashed when I tried to reinstall the RE0/RE remake, and it actually corrupted my save the day before! And when I tried to delete it, the system crashed! Now THAT'S creepy! And cursed! From 1-Pink, how much would you give it on the cursed scale, Collie? Many bad things keep happening whenever I try to play either game, I swear, I'm NOT making this up. It also crashed when I tried to reinstall Yakuza 0, 2 days ago, at the intro title screen. Didn't even get to the theme song... but, I got 10 games reinstalled, yesterday, In no real order: No.1: Re2 Remake, No.2: Re3 Remake, No.3: Blazblue Cross Tag Battle, No.4: Devil May Cry HD Collection, No.5:Spider-Man, No.6: Dragon Ball FighterZ, No.7: RE4, No.8: Persona 5, No.9: Devil May Cry 5, and, finally, the "newest" game I own, for now, but at least I can say, the PS4 is working fine at the moment, Persona 5: Royal, or P5R. Yep, you already know I'd forgive you for hanging out with family! You don't need to explain, it's fine, really! And besides, Collie, that's WAY more important than talking to me! Wait, why'd your brother get scared, after seeing you talk to me? Is he just worried about you? Yeah, I'm sure he's just looking out for you, making sure you're not talking to strangers, or getting too close to them, because he very likely doesn't want you giving out your private information over the internet, like phone numbers, addresses, you know? And he's probably protective of you, Collie. But, do you know the EXACT reason why he's scared? Why is it funny? Also, if he's just scared because he's worried, then let him know, I, am NOT out to hurt you at ALL. I'm a loyal, friendly guy, and also, I was just a lonely guy, looking for someone to talk to, and then, you showed up here, and before I knew it, we were here, talking like childhood friends, despite only knowing each other for a short time. Thanks again, Collie! I knew I could always depend on you.
Shawn Fields I don't think your PlayStation 4 is cursed at all, I just think that since your PlayStation 4 just got repaired it can only handle so much information, that's why it keeps on stalling and crashing, so yeah, your PlayStation 4 is not cursed at all, but don't worry about my brother he didn't see me talking too you, he just saw me with my hair in my face and got extremely scared, because I looked like a ghost girl lol... I think he was playing too much Fatal Frame, I have that effect on people sometimes, I remember back in middle school, before I actually started getting my hair out of my face, people used to be afraid of me for that reason, but either way, both me and my brother support each other and even if we end up scaring each other we'll always be best buds... my siblings were my friends before I had social media and UA-cam, so yeah... we're like 3 peas in a pod, it's nice that I have siblings that care about me and friends like you that care about me as well, and in the process I care about everyone I care about, so yeah... I love my family and my friends! 😊😄😁👍
@@colleenglanville8293 You're sure, Collie? That makes sense. I didn't expect you to know THIS much about the PS4; honestly, even I didn't know it couldn't handle a lot of info. When it got repaired, my mom said the hard drive needed to be replaced, and then the corrupting/skipping save problem happened. But, good news, It's not stalling or skipping/crashing, right now, and hasn't in hours, which is a good sign, to me. But don't worry, Collie, we're keeping a close eye on it, and we got a backup plan... When I turned the system off, and turned it back on though, it stalled for a bit, and took some time to reload the screen. I didn't say the system itself was cursed, I said maybe those games were the problem. After all, when I played MK11, that's when I hit the system, and broke it. Your hair was in your face? How long is your hair, Collie? And how cute do you look like that, with your beautiful hair covering up your beautiful face? That part's a shame, but I bet you look REALLY cute. I haven't played Fatal Frame. I know it's a game series where you take pictures of ghosts, and it's creepy as hell. People were afraid of you because your hair was in your face? I was worried that you didn't want to talk after all, and maybe you were still unsure of what to say next, that's ok, Collie, so was I. I can relate. Before I made more friends, and in-between talking and making friends, and losing and gaining friends, my mom's been one of my best friends too. So, I can relate to your family being your best friends. It is nice that you've got people who care. When I asked you to rate how cursed you thought my PS4 was, I was trying to make a Chadstick reference. Because he was doing some videos on Cursed Commericals. They're hilarious videos. He rated them, on how cursed he thought they were. From 1-10. And occasionally throwing in other ratings, like a Bootleg/10, or a PINK/10. But, I appreciate your honesty and your input anyways, and your opinion, like always. And yeah, we're both lucky to have people we love and care about, and who feel the same way. I know that your PlayStation 4 and your games themselves are not cursed at all, but what Chadtronic means when he says things are cursed is because it's scary... I say that your PlayStation 4 and games aren't cursed because it's really just your PlayStation 4 trying to process what happened to it a couple of weeks ago, so yeah... my hair is frizzy, long, and brown, so when people looked at me when I had my hair in my face or bumped into me they were frightened... they probably thought I was the schools ghost or something, but I wouldn't blame them really... I'd be scared of myself as well, but I'm so used to the ghost girl with long hair in face trope, because I've watched The Ring and The Grudge more times than I could count, so yeah, but I think you should give Fatale Frame a SHOT, you might actually enjoy it, it'd be a perfect game to play on Halloween, and my family is the best and I'll cherish them forever! 😄😁👍

As a person who never played the og banjo games I loved this game. It awakened my interest in sandbox vehicle building games like Kerbal Space Program. Thanks Nuts and Bolts you are good for something
I love how instead of using the power of time travel to just kill banjo as a kid she only tries to prevent them from meeting, well back to the future 2 did the same thing where going over a different substance changes the speed of the hovering
This right here is what I looked forward to after a rough day of school. Sitting down and just tinkering with whatever vehicles I'd thrown together to make them JUST right. I can confidently say that, without this game, I wouldn't have the appreciation for mechanical objects that I do. Despite whatever hate it gets, I'll always have fond memories.

Us Banjo fans don't want to play a game about building cars. This was a giant F U to us after waiting so long for Threeie, and then get this instead. I literally thought it was a bad dream, or a prank by Rare.
I think a Banjo-Threeie that takes place AFTER Nuts and Bolts would be pretty cool to see.
You act like having a bad ending is a staple of banjo, when you like the ending in tooie and the final boss in kazooie. Makes sense.
