I've installed boomba bov, been driving with it for about a year now and everything is smooth. The loudest bov I've ever heard, this breaks neck everywhere
Great vid, appreciate how accurate this would be if I installed it myself. As my dad always told me “Estimated install time: 1 hour Actual install time: 3 hours, 2 dropped bolts, and 1 Home Depot trip later and you’re good to go” lol you should have seen the struggle I had installing my CAI and shift bracket bushings
Oh God those shift bracket bushings. I dropped the back left one down in my engine bay and spent like 30 minutes looking for it. Almost out the stock ones back on and just ordered a new set. I've got fat fingers and getting that shit on was frustrating at that angle
Just installed this yesterday, got a check engine light for under boost pressure. Watched your video and realized i put it on backwards. Bov-gasket not gasket-Bov i guess reading the instructions have their purpose lmao. I know what im doing in the morning XD
You got it right, the boomba install manual says to do the short, lower right screw first (just don't tighten completely until the other 2 screws are also in).
Thanks, I like to attempt to capture the true nature of working on a car. Want to see a real nightmare watch the chargepipe video lol. Worst mod I've done yet
BrendoST only thing you missed is all the "F" bombs being dropped for little dumb crap that happens. I pick mine up tomorrow and have already ordered a ton of parts.
I truly appreciate this video and you because this gives me an idea of exactly how I am going to be installing this when it comes in tomorrow. It took me an hour just to fit my big mouth ram air intake on because i kept dropping stuff. Anyone can do this with a lift and the right tools in 15 minutes flat. I like seeing the average person do it! Keep up the solid work
grant decapua thanks, I love just trying to tackle these mods with no prior knowledge of how to install them. Speaking of the big mouth ram air, I need to get one of those and make a video lol
BrendoST honestly super simple, it's just a bit hard to get to. They say you don't need to take the front bumpee cover off for 15+ but i would anyway. Velossa tech was super easy to work with too
I actually put the bracket that was holding the stock bov on first then the boomba bov on top of it. Was easier to install than what you went through and it is still super secure and dosent move at all
I bet you if you install all the bolts and tighten down the short bolt and then remove the two long ones and then put the bracket on you won't have to cut it
Some of them are my fathers tools, I did this at his house because he had a jack and stands. but I do have some cheap chinese tools that are rusted to crap lol.
+BrendoST I drove with the lid off for a while and it did add a little noise but the intake made the turbo sound pretty noisy haha. It's night and day.
Yo, I would strongly recommend you check out an CAI on eBay (I did a video on it just so u can see it on the car), its $150 and looks identical to CAIs available online for $300+, great value and boy do you hear the turbo after installing. I have a link to it on eBay as well but its called AF Dynamic Cold air intake
+BrendoST nah dude and for the price?? I couldn't get a driving clip bc it's just me and my iPhone but all you hear is blow off and spool up sounds, would recommend for the sound upgrade alone
with this install. did you have to take the car to get tuned...or adjust the PSI for the spring?? Or did you just put the Bypass valve on and go with no adjustments to boost pressure, spring etc?
Anthony Yes I didn’t get one right away and didn’t have any drive-ability problems. may have been running rich can’t remember. That being said I would recommend a tune anyway
What rpm should you hear it go off at? I installed mine about a year ago but it seemed to do it around 2k rpm now it only seems to hiss after I rev or shift to 3-35k rpm
Its not rpm specific its based on boost. It should open whenever you build boost and let off the throttle. The whole point of it is to bleed off built up boost pressure when your throttle plate closes, that way it doesnt go back through the turbo and cause that stututu sound or turbo flutter as its called
@@Brendenowits video is 4 years old I just got my first st and this would be my first mod. You still using it or an upgrade? Seen there are alot of adjustable ones now
@@forsakenraptor4931 I ended up returning to the stock bpv, I got annoyed with the noise and how often it would go off, if I do an upgraded valve again it will be the tial exhale kit cpe makes, for a big turbo build.
I didn’t put the 3rd screw where you break that piece and I couldn’t put back the lock where it locks on the housing is that bad? I tightened the shit out of the 2 screws though
And I was just planning on buying the Cobb cai this weekend with the boomba bov. Now, should I purchase the Cobb accessport with these two or wait a month to get it later
+Thomas Whitmore that's a good question, I beleive the next thing may be an actual cat back, mostly mbrp because my friend is a dealer for them so a nice discount is provided. I'm looking at different intakes the most appealing is cpe but idk for $400...
I guess I never really paid attention to it. I don't have it on my car anymore to tell you. I can say when I was running this particular setup I did notice more black smoke out the tail pipe, but that could have been a number of factors at that time.
malandrindetlaza marron fyi your are thinking of well known issue with the powershit auto in the standard focus but also there are issue with the gearbox in the ST. I am currently on my second gearbox in my 2013 focus st first gearbox lost 5th gear just driving one day and recently I had second gear synchro go, this is somewhat common to these boxes if your drive them like you stole it. Otherwise drive it like a grandma and they will last a lifetime I'll say.
Really how much louder do you want to go. While you're at it also remove your exhaust and just run open pipes for a little louder effect. And also remove your hood so you can hear the engine a little louder through your air filter. Don't forget to remove the air lid. For louder effect
Rich Weber what gasket? Do you mean the metal bracket? I didn't cut a gasket for this install but the bottom right corner of the bracket I cut with a small hacksaw.
Ford has to be willing to prove, in court, that the installed part is what caused whatever malfunction. There's no reason why this should actually harm anything, therefore no reason it should void the warranty.
Ehhh. Too much work. I'll leave mine alone. SLEEPER mode baby.. bov wont give me HP at all so not a big deal. I would spend that money on a short throw shifter tho for sure...
yeah its not worth it until you go big turbo, I ended up putting the stock bpv back in. the boomba is so obnoxiously loud I couldnt take it anymore lol. And yeah ill probably do an install and review of cobbs bushing kit soon.
I've installed boomba bov, been driving with it for about a year now and everything is smooth. The loudest bov I've ever heard, this breaks neck everywhere
KG Egzi nice bov I have the turbosmart duel port very loud !
Andrew Dave not as loud as boomba I've had both installed
Shouldn't you have it tuned after installing this bov? Otherwise it would run rich if I'm not mistaken
Anthony No, these cars don’t use MAF sensors. No time needed for this.
Tune*

That's smart ha

weston wright did the reinstall remove the light?
Needed this laugh, think everyone is like this when working on their car lol!
Def gonna put in the short bolt first

nice, These are really fun cars to mod. I hope a big turbo is in my future, maybe tax season
words to remember.... never work on a vehicle while the engine is still hot. good video anywas man.

No need to cut bracket I installed with no cut. Fit perfectly and easy
There's no need to take the tyre off (tire if you're American)... Just take the wheel off lol ;-)
I'll never stop being amazed of how many people can't differentiate between tyre, rim and wheel :)
so much freedom
Get over it dude
Oh and btw, there are no bolts on the wheel either, theyre nuts
You should of just gone with a Turbosmart BOV no cutting the bracket or spacers needed. Keep up the great work on the car.
I am not sure where I exactly heard it but doesn't the turbosmart require maintenance every once in a while?
Turbo smart is not as loud as boomba
@@Brendenowits you can not run any tunes with a turbosmart BOV.
11:14 did you cause your phone to have a stroke?
Civl yeah the autofocus was broken, it would go crazy if I hit it on something.
I actually put the bracket that was holding the stock bov on first then the boomba bov on top of it. Was easier to install than what you went through and it is still super secure and dosent move at all
Misael Almanza that doesn't cause a boost leak? didn't think it would evenly apply pressure.
Yeah definitely don’t do this. Boost leak
just leave the bracket off lmao !! you don't need it !
Yeah, the MBRP seems like a good deal, and easy to install.

Just put that BOV on my FoST!! Sounds great!!
What the point of the bracket and is there some kind of sensor you have to plug into it
+jackwgn that bracket not only holds the valve on better, part of the boost controller sits on it
No more maintenance than the one you just installed.
Just got mine installed a couple days ago! Same color. It's rockin with the Injen intake. (Hint hint get your Injen already lol)
does the intake make a big difference from where I stand now, with the cobb filter and lid off?
+BrendoST I drove with the lid off for a while and it did add a little noise but the intake made the turbo sound pretty noisy haha. It's night and day.

Glad i got the turbosmart
@Jay Dee because it went right in place of the stock. Didnt have to cut anything or use spacers. Super easy and sounds awesome.
What side is the stock by pass BOV? Driver side or passenger?
with this install. did you have to take the car to get tuned...or adjust the PSI for the spring?? Or did you just put the Bypass valve on and go with no adjustments to boost pressure, spring etc?
Justin Williamson boomba designs this valve to be plug and play , no tuning required no adjustments needed.
BrendoST great thanks for the feedback
No problem I will try to answer all questions to the best of my knowledge.
BrendoST I know I'm being a pain...but is there a difference in your opinion for the BOV vs the bypass valve (full recirculation)
Justin Williamson from what I know a bov does the same thing just vents boost to atmosphere where bypass valve recirculate the air through the intake
Does your BOV makes a vacuum sound after it vents the air to the atmosphere?
sorta ive noticed it, but it does tend to stay open until you start building boost again which I read is normal function
Shouldn't you have a tune put on after installing this? Otherwise you would run rich if I'm not mistaken
Anthony Yes I didn’t get one right away and didn’t have any drive-ability problems. may have been running rich can’t remember. That being said I would recommend a tune anyway
hey man keep these up !

tuberman93 axb well if you develop a boost leak I’d bet that’s where it’s coming from lol. If not, you should be fine
Why wouldnt you wait until the car cooled down??
Rabbsy Rabs I’m impatient lol
What kind of maintenance is required with these bov's?
as far as I know boomba does not require any maintenance, at least thats what others said on the focusst forums.
did you put the spring that came with the stock bov with the boomba or nah?
Ivan Red boomba comes with its own spring. Never even thought about switching then
And I was just planning on buying the Cobb cai this weekend with the boomba bov. Now, should I purchase the Cobb accessport with these two or wait a month to get it later
you don't necessarily need the accessport for these mods as of yet but you would benefit greatly from a tune.
Couldn't you just back out the bolt that was in the way?
Shequeefa Laught it was part of the axle assembly, might have been harder to do but I suppose you could have
Could you have put that bottom bolt on first and then put on that top bracket for the remaining bolts?
probably, but getting my hands in there to secure the bushings sucked
Understood, just watching video, it seemed like an easier option? But in the end, you made it work. What's next for the ST?

I have the Injen intake on mine. $279 from autohance.com Definitely one to consider. It's great and wasnt hard to install at all.
+Bradley Gilliland I looked at the injen and will probably go with it myself out of all the kits I had seen it is the most decent for the price
what rpm does the bov go off at?
slowcus ST it doesn't go off at a specific rpm. It opens after you build boost and left off the throttle or depress the clutch.
Does this bov makes the car runs rich?

my man, you need a tripod and editing software. plz.
Car Lords yup lol I know
I believe you can get adapters that can hold your cellphone too. check out amazon
are those rims 19 or 18 inches?
Anyone know if you can put this on a SE model
nah unless you have a turbo on your SE
Will this void your warranty?
prettyboychassica it probably will but it depends on the dealer your using. I honestly don't have a good answer.
