New subscriber and new to coffee roasting. I am sure after tasting my first roast, I will have questions......but just want you to both know that I have learned a lot from your roast along and podcasts. Thank you!

if you haven't invested yet in an extension tube, would you recommend that the fan and heat settings stay the same? I'm currently using an SR540 and have tried a lot of different profiles. Most of my roasts turn out pretty good. The only thing that I notice is that when ground, I don't get that great coffee aroma that I seem to get when I buy already roasted beans from any of our local small batch roasters.

      Great questions!
We have a different profile for the Fresh Roast with and without the Ex Tube, which you can find by looking at the "Roast-a-Long" section of our UA-cam page. You'll see a video for "with Extension Tube" and "without Extension tube" -- I recommend checking both out to compare and contrast.
As for the aroma, I wonder how long you're allowing your coffee to "rest" or degas after roasting and before grinding? At least 3 days resting is recommended for most coffees, and some lighter roasted coffees don't come into their full flavor and aroma until a few weeks after the roast!

@@CoffeeBeanCorralOfficial Thanks! I'll check it out. Degassing for 24 hours (min) in open air, then storing for about 5-7 days in an airtight mason jar before starting to grind. Great info and btw, love the podcast! Very insightful for those of us just getting into home roasting!
