Actually, Brian and Roger both said that Marc what's the closest thing they've ever heard to Freddie!!!!!!!!!! He does ABSOLUTELY NAIL EVERY LITTLE NUANCE That Freddie did! Not to mention, that he really does look INCREDIBLY like Freddie, especially when he gets into the " operatic " section! 🙀😺😸
He has Freddie down pat but not just vocally, also his keyboard skills. He nails Freddie’s piano style as well as the nuances of Freddie’s vocals. There is also a video of him singing and playing “Love Of My Life” which is just as impressive
Actually, Marc was asked to do the movie back in 2012 shortly after he was hired by Roger Taylor to front his official tribute band. The movie wasn't green lit for several years after that. This cover was something his manager suggested he do around the same time the movie came out. Marc has had ties to Queen via Taylor since winning the role of frontman for Queen Extravaganza in late 2011. He was with QE for several years and now fronts his own tribute band, as well as doing solo performances, covers of other artists, as well as his own original music.
I gotta admit that I find it kind of funny that Marc Martel has gone so much into this whole Queen thing. I spend a lot of my 20s and 30s listening to his old band Downhere. They had two awesome singers. Marc doing the higher parts and the other singer, Jason Germain, doing the more deep singing. I saw them a couple of times in concert here in Denmark.
Fun reaction. Yeah, he does a one take of "Who wants to live Forever" as well. It sounds so much like Freddie.. More still, there is a live clip of him performing that song with the Boston pops doing the original instrumental backing him.. It's just scary good. You'd swear it was queen. His group did a cover of "Under Pressure during covid.. phoned it in as it were - or streamed it in rather.. Sounds like the original radio cut. It's just stupid good. Fall down that rabbit hole. You won't be sorry you did. Roger and Brian were getting choked up listening to him perform before they picked him to lead their official tribute act years ago. And, yes, he did the updated vocals to fill in for the movie. When you're doing THX/Dolby for theaters, your stuff has to be ready for primetime and some of Freddie's old tracks couldn't be used, so, Marc filled that gap blending his vocals and Freddies so they could get a modern digital quality master to work from on some things. Just incredible. They kept a lid on it till the movie was in theaters, I think out of respect for the Actor playing Freddie; but, that's just a guess. It happened because Queen and Marc already had a relationship with the tribute act. And this isn't dabbling in the basement. Martel has been touring the world selling out venue after venue giving people goosbumps playing Queen sets for a while now. The audience participation is just as with Freddie. It's an amazing thing to see.
If you like Queen then go see him live when you get the chance. I saw him with my friends in Vienna this September and it was mind-blowing. Dude is the real deal. His band doesn't look like Queen on the outside, but they do come close to sounding like Queen respectably. Also, they put their own spin on a few songs, which is awesome and refreshing.
I didn't know that you sing yourself and I was amazed how beautifully you sing. So you are a beautiful woman of many talents and I love watching you all the time
If you'd like a comparison, the YT channel Dany Fil created a duet version with Freddie and Marc. Just look for the video "Marc Martel and Freddie Mercury DUET - Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen)"
INDEED! It's a show from Montreal called "Live From The Universe" (En direct de l'univers) from 2016, a few months after her husband died. The two previous singers had done songs which meant a lot to her husband, and she was crying her eyes out. Just as she was regaining her composure, they brought out Marc. She TOTALLY fangirls out. She's a huge Queen fan (and a huge Marc fan), and sang "Show Must Go On," every night, in her concerts. That's why they add that line at the end. Those are actually her backup singers, singing with Marc, btw.
Thank you very much for letting me see this today I needed it and well you have a good New Year's Rachel okay and love you Magic Woman you have a good New Year I mean it
Great acting, no singing. Rami cannot sing and sang into a dead mic while filming to get accurate facial and neck muscle movement , confirmed by his movement coach. All of the vocals were either Marc, or Freddie and Marc, using stems from old master recordings. The fact was hidden until after he won his Oscar for obvious reasons.
@@YonkoLalev I don't have to 'come on'. Do some research. Rami cannot sing, never sang. Marc and his manager had to sign strict non disclosure agreements. Probably nothing would have been mentioned about Marc had Graham King not mentioned in an industry interview before the Oscar hype that the singing was a little Rami [gross exaggeration] a lot of Freddie and a lot of Marc Martel. And that he wasn't sure the film could have been made without Marc. "The songs in the movie are performed by Freddie, Rami and a Freddie sound-alike named Marc Martel. "Rami sings a little bit in the film, there's a lot of Freddie Mercury obviously, and a lot of Marc Martel. He sent a video to Brian May and Roger Taylor and he sounds exactly like Freddie Mercury. We knew that we had someone we could use for parts that maybe Rami couldn't do and obviously Freddie didn't do. So we were in Abbey Road recording studio for maybe two and a half months with Marc and with Rami, recording bits and pieces that we knew we needed. It's hard to find someone who can sing like Freddie Mercury and I'm not sure the movie would have happened if we didn't have Marc." - Graham King - Producer.
Fun fact, in the Queen biopic starring Rami Malek, Marc Martel did the singing parts (when Rami’s “Freddie” is shown singing.)
Marc has been The Voice of young Freddie for quite some time

Marc's cover of "I Want to Break Free" is excellent. A fun one is "Seaside Rendezvous" which is performed on a Mediterranean beach with two others.
He has Freddie down pat but not just vocally, also his keyboard skills. He nails Freddie’s piano style as well as the nuances of Freddie’s vocals. There is also a video of him singing and playing “Love Of My Life” which is just as impressive
Marc is a wonderful vocalist. You should also listen to his Queen unrelated performances.

He gets how the teeth affect sound. Great mouth shape.
Almost forgot Happy New Year and I hope your new year is even better than your last.
You need to look up the clip where Celine Dion fan girls over him...

Rami Malek - take him from the movie, won an Oscar for that... 🎉
