@user-rt7vl9ky3r Really? Do your history Roger was on board but anal Brian was not. Simple as that. Haha Marc usurping Queen with his God given talent. Can you say ego?
Marc fronted his own multiple award winning Christian band (called "downhere") for over 10 years. Then he auditioned for Roger Taylor and won the lead with "Queen Extravaganza," Queen's "official" tribute band, in late 2011. He sang with them until the end of 2016. When they were not going to tour in 2017, he started his own cover band, "Ultimate Queen Celebration." He's performed with them since, along with "Black Jacket Symphony" (they do EXACT recreations of famous albums, in live concerts), "Symphonic Queen" (in Mexico, with a full symphony orchestra), and as part of "One Vision Of Queen" (a re-named UQC). He frequently tours central and eastern Europe, either with his band or with local musicians recruited for the tour. He's done concerts around the world, appearing multiple years in such far-flung locations such as Israel and Australia. Marc also did vocals for the "Bohemian Rhapsody" movie. The 30+ year old analog magnetic tape master recordings would not have been up to modern "Dolby Atmos" digital quality standards, so they used a technique called "vocal layering," where they blended Marc's voice with Freddie's. If they didn't have a good copy of Freddie singing something they wanted in the movie, it was purely Marc singing it. for some reason, they gave Marc almost ZERO credit in the movie and after. But, if it wasn't for Marc, that movie could never have been made. You can see the tracks in this photo from the Live Aid scene mixing board, where Freddie's track is "LV-STEM LVAID DRY FREDDIE_01" and Marc's track is "LV-STEM LVAID_01," directly beneath it. i.imgur.com/Oqxw81z.jpg Marc has several albums of his own music out as well. In December 2019, Marc was the special guest star for the Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant Christmas tour. He brought the house down every night. The three of them released their cover of "Silver Bells" which went to number one on the Christian Music chart. For Christmas 2020, Marc teamed with Amy Grant to release their cover of "The Christmas Waltz," a Frank Sinatra song. Marc has also released albums of his own music, traditional Christmas music, and other covers. Haha. You've tripped into a huge rabbit hole with Marc. He covers a ton of Queen songs. Fronted Roger Taylor's official tribute band - Queen Extravaganza - for 6-7 years, chosen by a UA-cam audition that went viral followed by in person auditions (you can see all the auditions on the official Queen channel). Then shortly after was asked to do the vocals for the Bohemian Rhapsody film, which didn't actually happen for several more years. Now has his own Queen tribute band. Does other covers as well as his own music. I see you've done Under Pressure. Marc and his band did an excellent cover of that song (and many others). He also has a couple Queen covers on the Produce Like a Pro channel where he collaborated with producer Warren Huart. On the Let Me Entertain You cover, there is also an interview with Marc and Warren on his backstory and his history of working with Roger Taylor and the movie crew. Oh, and yes, that's how he sounds - it's his natural voice - but he CAN turn up the Freddie-isms while singing Queen music. Marc is a favourite singer of mine. Another favourite singer is Tommy Johansson, who is a metal singer but with a beautiful voice. He does a couple Queen covers that are very good too. You might want to check him out. His most popular cover on his channel at the moment is She's Gone (Steelheart) but he covers all genres and everything from Disney to Celine Dion to metal. Cheers!
I always loved this song, i thought it showed a bit of a different side of legend Freddie. I applaud him for the effort to put a different spin on a legendary song, he actually did it his way, thank you as always for the video and commentary even at this horrible hour!
Marc did an extended interview where he was asked how to sing like Freddie. #1, you have to be born with the genetics. #2, don't be afraid to explore all the resonance in your vocal anatomy, Freddie was famous for that. #3, he has to change the pronunciation of a few words to be in Freddie's accent. Before joining the Queen Extravaganza band, Marc had his own Christian Rock band that had been touring for 10 years. Each night people would approach him, telling Marc he sounded like Freddie. He would consciouslytry to stop, but could only get the number of peopld approaching him with the comparison down to 5. He auditioned for the tribute band almost as a joke. Definitely check out his audition video submitted, "Somebody to Love!" ua-cam.com/video/dREKkAk628I/v-deo.htmlsi=hoEqxBhEH0M-7RnX
That’s where I first heard Marc too. I didn’t think he was Freddie but I remember telling my husband that the singers sounded like a smoother version of Freddie. I was disappointed when they went on hiatus and Marc started singing for QEx. But I got over it . He’s killing it with his tribute band!
Time to go down the Marc Martel rabbit hole. He has a lot of great Queen covers, great originals, check out Paradise or Stalemate, and his non queen covers, such as I Will Always Love You.
Did you see the interview when Marc talked about meeting Brian May? He said it was a little awkward because Brian started crying. Brian said it was like hearing his longtime friend sing live again. 😢❤
Your response is both right and wrong. Yes Marc sounds like a younger Freddie but after years of smoking and drinking Freddie's voice changed. Freddie is my favourite singer and I know it is hindsight but I wish Freddie took better care of his voice as Marc is doing. Freddie was on another level til the end. Now Marc is on another level in the same vein
WOWWW WOWW LOVEEE THIS SO MUCH THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I made a cover of the song Ed Sheeran - Perfect could you see? :) And If you could, could you make a video reacting to my cover? :))))
I adore this song and this man Marc is an incredible singer sounds a bit like Freddie. I'll take Mark Martel over Adam Lambert any day ! I cannot STAND ADAM LAMBERT ! Hurray Marc Martel! You'll NEVER be or truly sound like Freddie Mercury but as just a reminder of Freddie I don't mind listening to you ! There's only 1 Freddie Mercury I'll always be loyal to Mercury! ❤
He wrote and co-wrote his own songs for over a dozen years with his first band "downhere" for their albums , and sang then all, even winning awards, and has his own original solo album and EP. His own Christmas song "How Many Kings" is now virtually a modern classic. Elvis, Sinatra, and plenty of other very famous artists never wrote a song even though Elvis' agent demanded 50 percent writing credit from anyone who wrote a song for him.. Adam Lambert never actually wrote a song either . Go away.
Adam Lambert singing Queen is absolute garbage. Marc has more talent in his little finger than Glambert has in his entire family lineage. How many instruments does Lambert play? 🤔 I'll wait...
That is his natural voice.
If you find yourself asking, “Why isn’t Marc the lead singer of Queen?” just get in line behind everyone else.
@user-rt7vl9ky3r Really? Do your history Roger was on board but anal Brian was not. Simple as that. Haha Marc usurping Queen with his God given talent. Can you say ego?
Sounds (and looks) so much like Freddie! I adore this song too. Most excellent!

Thank you! I’ll definitely check it out. Appreciate the link.
First time I heard this guy was with The Band Downhere. Immediately thought he was Freddie Mercury Clone. Amazing

Marc was hand picked by the Queen organization to head the official Queen Tribute Band.

Let him sing his own friggin song.
He wrote and co-wrote his own songs for over a dozen years with his first band "downhere" for their albums , and sang then all, even winning awards, and has his own original solo album and EP. His own Christmas song "How Many Kings" is now virtually a modern classic. Should Freddie’s songs die then?
This is ONLY imitador.Adam Lambert is the best Singer is amazing.
Oh, Maria! You have been lied to.
Adam Lambert singing Queen is absolute garbage. Marc has more talent in his little finger than Glambert has in his entire family lineage. How many instruments does Lambert play? 🤔
I'll wait...
Sooo he’s a freddie impersonator? Not unique … just a person who has listened & imitated him.
Nit at all. He has never impersonated Freddie and doesn’t need to imitate jim either, as they are sound-a-likes.
Wrong. Marc had his own award winning band in Canada and people would always tell him he sounded Iike Freddie. He was born this way 💥💥
no not at all he just naturally sounds like that. listen to his covers of other bounds he sounds the same.
You just have a short breath. Work on it
