  • If a predator wants to rape you, kid nap you, kill you, and leave you for dead somewhere they will!! STAY ALERT!!
If you are going to stay somewhere for any length of time, pay attention to your surroundings, have your guard up, and be aware of anybody lurking in the shadows.
    Have a great day!!!

I've been trucking for more than 3 decades. Am semi-retired, still drive OTR about half the time. We even have Homo-freaks out here harassing male truckers too, either peeping-tom or outright offers of "services". This weird stuff actually happens so VERY rarely that it is easy to get complacent.
Always be ALERT, looking carefully as you pull in, and before you exit the vehicle. ALWAYS lock your vehicle, or there may be someone waiting inside when you return. Carry pepper spray and/or a long Mag-light or tire thumper when you are out of the truck in a secluded area. Keep the tire thumper hidden as you walk, and if a threat approaches, verbally worn them back, tire thumper held but hidden behind you. IF the threat approaches aggressively, when he's close enough, use a lightning fast strike of the hidden thumper, in an an over hand arc, and with a wrist snap, lay the thumper hard and straight on the center top of the skull. The attacker will go "lights-out" instantly and drop like a rock. Practice the sneaky overhand, wrist snapping tire-thumper skull strike on a target at home about the height of a 6-foot man. Practicing a fast quick wrist snap blow, solidly and accurately to the center top of the skull is much more important than striking hard. Pepper spray is less violent, but practice regularly with the type you carry and make sure you do not spray yourself! Pepper spray has serious issues about being effective on windy days! The tire thumper ain't affected by wind.

Thank you for this advice. I typically don't stop until I get to my consignee (I'm a local driver). But, when I do, I stop at the same places all the time. I go to a gas station that has truck parking that isn't busy and park at the 1st pump. The employees know what I look like, and they have cameras. I do check my surrounding b4 getting out. No issues so far but it is worse to be vigilant and dressed modestly. We are at work.

You lady drivers especially need a camping toilet. I got one in the mid 90's for my wife when we were running team loads and it kept her out of rest area's at any time of day/night while I slept. You keep it in the truck as I still do running solo now for years to use as a sink. I keep it with a gallon jug of water to brush my teeth or splash my face for not only easy stops but it was mainly for her safety and it speeds up a trip when she needed to stop.

See, this is why I carry a big dog with me. If they see a large dog, they know he may bark, calling attention to the situation. Most think this not worth the trouble. Keeps the riff raff away( I am an older male driver so some may think I'm an easy mark. The dog is only the first line of defense). Be c😢out there

Best advice: get a gun learn how to use it is. A gunis the best form of self defense
