His friend was using a 1000 not normal for most people, in fact a 40 inch snook on a 1k is quite insane. Most people use like 2500-3500 size reels

I caught a 37" snook on a 3000 bg. Never on a 1000. That snook was a fat snook. Lateral line ended at top of the hill plate.
