As at least two other commenters have noted, a drop or two of superglue would almost certainly have stopped the bait from sliding down the hook, an issue which is certainly not limited to the Vudu. Further, it's widely considered a mistake to fish ANY lure "right out of the box," without honing the factory hook until it passes the "thumbnail test." Nonetheless, thanks for sharing your thoughts and fishing trip with us.

Used this dozens of times and no major issues....However got bored one day and took a gamble on a trick and slid hook off the body and placed a small treble hook or stinger as they are called. Kinda like what you can do with a fluke on EWG hook. This then had the treble hook under that body and main hook on top....From that point on a regular had at least two hooks into the fish. Never had one thrown at that point.. Also the treble hook didnt seem to effect the action of the bait... Tested the movement in a friends pool...... Open up the hook point ( gap ), be sure to use a rag or cloth between hook shank and pliers. As the lure comes on the package the hook point faces parallel to the shank, bend so the hook point faces up away from the shank about 20 to 30 degree angle and the lure should stay put with a good hook set !

Try to Hook the shrimp through the head from underneath, just like a live shrimp on a jighead, with the point of the hook aligned with where the shrimp’s horn would be. That will allow more of a “gap” and “free play” on the hook shank.
