I came to the prequels from the Original Trilogy era. I felt the tension in the prequels that came from the hope events would turn out differently. I didnt see the Clones as just deciding to follow Order 66. At the time, I understood something in them was a switch that the order turned on, and they didnt have choice. For me, that was the tragedy of the Clones. It reminds me of my nephew's view point at the time. His favorite character was Papatine. He really thought Palpatine was a great leader and a hero. I rained on his parade and before the reveal told him Palpatine was the Emperor. Oh, was he mad at me! I didn't tell him about Anakin....which also made him mad. The tension he felt as the story evolved was completely different than mine. So, anyway, I think whether we see/saw tension in the prequels may generational. Which brings me to the commentary on Vader/Anakin. Again, I think our generation impacts whether we see Anakin's fall to the dark side as being under played or not. I saw Anakin's progession as a slippery slope. I saw his arrogance leading to rebellion which lead to jealousy and anger and on to murder (the Sand People). He cared about his mom, but not enough to risk his position in the order. He build his relationship on lies. Murder again (Dooku). More lies and more secrecy. I saw what Yoda warned Luke to avoid. Those first little steps allowing the dark side to Forever dominate his future.
Maybe I’m just an entrenched EU/Legends fan, but the line from BF2 2005, “It’s a good thing we were wearing helmets, because none of us could bear to look her in the eye.” will always have a greater emotional effect on me than the inhibitor chips ever will. But that being said, what’s more tragic, characters we’ve come to care about going through with Order 66 despite knowing it’s wrong or just saying, “A chip in my head made me do it”?
“A chip in my head made me do it” is a bit devaluing the tragedy to make the point stronger. "characters we’ve come to care about going through with Order 66 despite knowing it’s wrong" is still present here (just outside their direct control) and imo not a bit less powerful. If almost every clone made a choice to go thru with the order - it's not that tragic really. You barely feel bad for the clones. Like, I'd feel as much from their death, as from stormtroopers. "It shows that despite their bond with their generals and knowing or feeling that the order is wrong, they still did it and have to live with it." well then all that talk about "we're not DROIDS" and finding your own individuality is nothing. Along with Rex and Ahsoka, Fives even indirectly helped save Kix. Kix is actually young and alive after the battle of Endor. He looked into Fives' death and found out about order 66. Dooku had him captured before he could tell anyone. He was being brought to Dooku's lair so he could be interrogated to make sure he didn't tell anyone else. On the way, something went wrong, I forget, and Kix was left in a crashed ship, stuck in a Carbon-frozen stasis. He was left found by the Meson Martinet, a pirate crew, just a few years before the Force Awakens. He would go on to join that pirate crew.
OK my vote is for the Yoda exploring the deeper meaning of the force dealing with the father and the children. I couldn’t find it while scanning through comments. I might’ve missed it but that’s my vote.
Every time I watch Revenge of the Sith, I’m irrationally hoping that Anakin doesn’t turn to the Dark Side and instead helps Mace Windu defeat Darth Sidious. So I would say that the prequels did a good job of building the same sort of inevitable tension that the Fives arc did.
4:50 Exactly!!!!! this is what makes the prequels + Clone wars, We have perfect foresight and know the tragedy is coming and is going to happen no matter what, seeing just how overconfident the good guys are knowing that they will all fall by the end, all of their action no matter how correct they are, regardless they are leading them to their own end, fated to fail, yet still have a story that shows how much struggle there was during that fall, on the edge of victory the whole time but overcome by betrayal of their good virtue and beliefs.
Yoda's arc! when he travels and seeks higher knowlegde of the force. its kinda where he learns the point of the force and how to become one of its whills by becoming force ghost
I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on Onderon. Not only is it a great arc for Ahsoka's character, it helps prepare her to be a leader in the rebellion. Plus, space-al-qaeda
A truly tragic arc. Had things gone any different, like we the audience wanted, Palpatine's plan would've been foiled, and the later tragedies to come (the fall of Anakin, the rise of the Empire, and the Disney Trilogy) would have never happened.
I really think this should be its own series. I love talking about these, and I love The Clone Wars, but I miss the variety of the other topics from before.
I think the Jedi turned the blind eye to all the problems with the clones because they knew they had 0 chance without them so they rather went with 0.01% chance with them at the 99.99% chance it would cost them a lot after winning.
I think, at least one of the reason Jedi couldn't step away from clones, despite of redflags left and right, is they sinked in to battle as frontline soldiers they couldn't afford to look bad, look coward. Same thing happened at Geonosis at AoTC. Arrogance was one of the Jedi Order trait in prequel. I am curious, if Lucasfilm are going to tell and show anything about how Jedi become so arrogant in High Republic series.
There must have been alot more to the inhibitor chips than it seems, like some sort of subtle brainwashing. Thats what came to my mind after Ahsoka removed Rex's chip and he tried to reason with Jesse. Honestly Palpatine was very lucky tat the jedi council decided not to investigate further when they knew something was amiss.
When watching this arc you can't help but wish that Fives could stop Order 66. However, when stepping back and looking at the big picture, I question whether that actually is what I want. The Jedi had lost their way by the time of the Clone Wars and the galaxy wasn't getting any better the way it was. It was the will of the force that the Jedi were toppled, so that, in 20 years time, Luke Skywalker could recreate the Jedi Order in the way it was supposed to be (we'll just ignore what the Sequels did). Arguably the Jedi Order had fallen quite some time before this arc. Fives only found out about Palpatine's plan to finish them off and he tried to do something about it, but ultimately it wasn't meant to be. He ended up doing the best thing he possibly could in his unfortunate situation, which was to allow Rex and Ahsoka to survive, who would eventually be key in founding the Rebellion. It seems sad for Fives, but he may be better off dying knowing the truth and saving his friends, rather than being forced to kill his friends in the Jedi and be cast aside like the other clones. P.S. thank you for including my comment :D!
Everyone always talks about Fives, but no one ever talks about just how horrific Tup's situation is in this arc. First, he's even younger than Fives and in Umbara, he seems like a nice, normal young Shiny who is just trying to find his place in the 501st. And he does! He defeats Krell just by being smart. And then where does he lead? This chip, this tumor in his head, makes him into an incoherent beast. Tup doesn't know what is happening or why he is being held down and treated like a criminal by his own brothers. No one who wants to help him knows about the chips and the people who know about the chips have no intention of helping him even when he's dying in agony in front of them.
Although Fives ultimitely died in vain, it was also satisfying to know that a single clone could have undone Palpatine's entire plan. The fact that Palpatine had to resort to personally dealing with it was a win for Fives in my book
I have yet to see a problem with him in the eu so he’s good but talking tcw he’s epic like really epic then again the arc trooper thing, but also it could be said Kaminons saw how good arcs were on Munnilst and Hypori so they wanted more wait this is for the arc *faceplams in me*
The fall of the Jedi was a completely inexcusable f***-up by the entire Jedi Council if you ask me. Like, don't give me the bull that's "oh the jedi were outsmarted by Palpatine," NO! That doesn't excuse how they weren't a WEE bit suspicious of everything. This just goes to show how great of writers George and Filoni are.
You know the sith grand plan got so close compromised so many times. it starting to not feel as grand as Imagined, more like palps Just having a general idea then sort of winged it as he went along. This isn’t even just a thing in the clone wars it happened a lot in some books and comics too its funny really,
It makes it that much more sad, really. Fives wanted Anakin and Rex because he trusted them. They were his general and older brother, he had fought beside them and trusted them. And yet Anakin is absolutely the worst person to bring the evidence to. Any other Jedi may have believed Fives.
Favorite part of the Clone Wars by far was the portrayal of the downfall of the Jedi Order. This arc does it best showing the ignorance and arrogance of the council, even with all the evidence they had they still refused to believe...
Fox arguably followed orders very poorly. He was ordered to kill on sight and performed arresting protocols instead. If he'd done things right, Palpatine would have been able to wipe out the early Rebellion since Ahsoka would have been killed in Order 66, and Rex would be in the Empire and work alongside Vader.
@@lakernation26 Yeah they could have done a lot more interesting stuff with that episode. I also didn't really like the inclusion of those droids and the shifting platforms.
poempedoempoex that didn’t bother me but I get ur point. I wish it was like 40 minutes. Should of shown the aftermath of the clone wars in like a montage or somethin cook like that and have ahsoka narrate the end of the clone wars and see obi wan Hand off luke to the Lars. Or some shit
Just an idea but the chips might be more powerful and have a very strong effect on their minds because Palpatine covers all of his bases. Palpatine really is such a manipulative figure.
The jedi that was needed most was killed in the Phantom menace. From then they were blind and as yoda said arrogant buy he was talking about padawans. look in the mirror council
They were originally flesh droids before Dave Filoni's Star Wars the Clone Wars. All of the Clones not Arc Troopers or Commanders would have been disposed of as abhorrent clones as opposed to heroes of the television series.
But you still could have fleshed them out even without the chips. They could still have their personalities, their relationships with each other and with the Jedi, but they'd just unquestionably follow orders. That's what they were made for and it was the Jedis fault that they thought their comradery meant something before direct orders.
@@drugmate9710 again, it still goes against their concept. I created a team of clones for my Jedi OC that was like all the ones in the show before the show came out. I feel kinda used now because of it.

Ok literally if ANYTHING played out differently, anakin wouldn't have feel and order 66 wouldn't have happened
Eeeey, top rated comment. Thanks guys
Yoda's arc! when he travels and seeks higher knowlegde of the force. its kinda where he learns the point of the force and how to become one of its whills by becoming force ghost
It makes you hope more clones survive until "the New Hope", and that they were an important part of the Rebellion.
I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on Onderon. Not only is it a great arc for Ahsoka's character, it helps prepare her to be a leader in the rebellion. Plus, space-al-qaeda
Qui-Gon would have listened. He seemed to be the only one that knew that things were starting to change, how things seemed clouded.
I think Ahsoka would have listened had she been there.
YEEESSSS!!! I WAS FEATURED!!!
I think makes sense either way. I think that chip has the ablility to maybe wipe the clones memories when they are activated.
A truly tragic arc. Had things gone any different, like we the audience wanted, Palpatine's plan would've been foiled, and the later tragedies to come (the fall of Anakin, the rise of the Empire, and the Disney Trilogy) would have never happened.
I kinda wish to see that.. A comic set in an alternative universe. Where Anakin doesn't fall.
I missed the poll, but this is my favorite arc in Star Wars TV.
I think the word everyone is looking for is "catharsis "
Fives has been my favorite clone since ROOKIES and by God did it ever pay off.
I think they thought that, hey, winning the war would all make it worth it and they could "free" the clones later.
That later just never happened
Loved this arc, Fives is and always has been my favorite clone/character. Was very sad and almost teared up a bit when he died
Pfft. Fives is a wuss. Sev, Scorch and Fordo FTW.
Thanks for including my comment!
You're very welcome. Thanks for taking the time to leave it.
@@thorskywalker My pleasure.
Clones would've still existed if they all listened to Fives. He was the true hero of the Clone Wars.
Although Fives ultimitely died in vain, it was also satisfying to know that a single clone could have undone Palpatine's entire plan. The fact that Palpatine had to resort to personally dealing with it was a win for Fives in my book
I have yet to see a problem with him in the eu so he’s good but talking tcw he’s epic like really epic then again the arc trooper thing, but also it could be said Kaminons saw how good arcs were on Munnilst and Hypori so they wanted more wait this is for the arc *faceplams in me*
its a really good example of dramatic irony and i love it
This is Darth Bullsith of the Galactic Notification Empire! All wings, report in!
Bullsith, standing by!
Red Five standing by!
Gold Leader, standing by!
Red 17 standing by
Panda Man, Standing By!
Fives was almost the hero the galaxy needed. Even after his death, he managed to have a real impact.
I think the major problem with fives trying to tell Anakin and Rex about order 66 was that he didn’t get everything that he needed to say out in time
Well, he was drugged and he did legitimately sound insane by that point.
Carly Crays to be fair I kinda forgot about that
Wow, I've never been this early. First like
Hey Thor I Was Wondering How Do I Send You Fan-Art?
Read the description
Who is disliking this video? lol keep up to great content like always Thor!
You know the sith grand plan got so close compromised so many times. it starting to not feel as grand as Imagined, more like palps Just having a general idea then sort of winged it as he went along. This isn’t even just a thing in the clone wars it happened a lot in some books and comics too its funny really,
God really wanted a bunch of people dead
If there were a list of things that make grown men cry, this arc would be on it!
Everyone gets mad at the jedi council in this ark but it was Anakin who was there with Fives when he died and didn't believe him
It makes it that much more sad, really.
Well, Anakin refused to believe. The other Jedi were stuck with a war they needed the clones for
I agree with the comment at 6:20
I want to see Jar Jar ( Battel for Villians and Heros).
Fox always follows orders poorly, its what got him killed.
Fox got killed by Vader for being a dumbass
I still think Vader would have killed Rex for killing Ahsoka. Not saying Vader was the most sensible guy, it's just something he would have done
Hello there
General Kenobi
You are a bold one
Army or not, you are DOOMED!!
I'mTheReverse “oh I don’t think so”
Fives’ death still the saddest TV death
What about the kid attack on the cookies
I think the siege of mandalore arc has a bit of recency bias. You sould do this poll again in a year or so.
The last episode of that arc was kind of weak tbh. I was expecting it to be longer
I like that they kept it so intimate and to the point. We know there will be more stories and this one was about Ahsoka and Rex.
R .I .P Fives
When I found out fives died I couldn’t accept that it happened. I was in pure denial
Just an idea but the chips might be more powerful and have a very strong effect on their minds because Palpatine covers all of his bases. Palpatine really is such a manipulative figure.
Even his name "Fives" has 5 letters.
Howdy everyone
Hello there again, my friend!
Thor Skywalker I hope you’re doing good
everyone watch The Critical Drinkers “is Anakin a Mary Sue” video!!
Its hilarious!
The jedi that was needed most was killed in the Phantom menace. From then they were blind and as yoda said arrogant buy he was talking about padawans. look in the mirror council
Here’s a thought, would mace windu try to kill anakin if he knew what he could become the way luke almost killed Kylo?
That's exactly how I feel about episode 3
If only the kaminoans hadn't drugged Fives
Order 66 was..... inevitable
I mean the fives arc is pretty good. I mean yeah
Characters that tried to warn people about sidious’ plan
Count Dooku: tried to warn obi wan
Maul: tried to warn Ahsoka
Fives: tried to warn Anakin and Rex
End result for all three: dead
Not my best decision.
Can you do the Season 5 Mandalore arc?
Tragic... As usual.
Listen to your clones
