    Just wanted to say I think this event was super sweet. The pre-record was awesome, hearing people have plans and re-adjusting, and the games were great. Here's my vote for more "restricted builds" type of events for the future!

    • @auroralee
      @auroralee 5 років тому +7

      Yeah its sort of like a pseudo-limited environment. You CAN go to a prerelease event with a plan for the kind of deck you build, but you haveto be ready to make do with what you have. I do have to congratulate the crew on some really original decks too, as I probably would have just done flyers or something easy like that.

    After seeing Adam's was mostly Dominaria and Ben's was mostly Theros-block, can we get a 'block constructed' FNPF, where each player has a different block to build around? i.e. someone takes Zendikar, someone takes Innistrad, and they can only use cards from that block. Obviously avoid broken blocks that created bad standards like Mirrodin and Urza's.

    • @petervanderham2921
      @petervanderham2921 5 років тому +6

      Build your own standard is also a fun format (it's based on the old Standard cycles which were 2 blocks + the core set, for this format you choose two blocks and a core set devided over any magic set from which you get to construct your deck).
      We played this at an invitational once, that was awesome.

    I wish my LGS here in Minnesota was like YJ. I'd be there for hours, making tons of budget brews. Especially some CanLander decks

    I absolutely loved this event. More of this stuff and cubes and other similar themes! Like another budget canlander or budget Commander stream. It’s fun to see constraints sometimes.

    I can so relate to Cam's love for Abolisher of Bloodlines.. .I went 6-0 or 7-0 (we had a lot of rounds) at the pre-release with that card in my deck. Such blowouts, can't stop loving it.

    I only know Magic from MTG: Arena, and so I had little to no idea what most of the cards did, but I was able to follow it somewhat. I think I just like watching the LRR crew have fun together.

    I don't know why this ended up in my watch list again, but I didn't notice it was an old episode until I noticed the mana rack was still out of order how I flipped it in 2018, and I know it was fixed a year later 🤣
    (And I did not clue in at all that it was the old YJ location)

    I'm trying to figure out if I could build something like pauper Caw-Blade on a $20 budget? I have a pauper Caw-Blade deck already, but I'm pretty sure it's over budget.

    "Alex's deck is half of a top-tier Pauper deck" I mean...ok. This is kitchen table Magic, yes?
    Seriously though, you guys should do this more. This is the way I play Magic, and it's always been my favorite (besides Pauper because I'm broke). Love the fun decks and the idea of a limited spending pool. Thanks for the video!

    What I find fascinating is that almost every match, if not every match, went to game three. I know budget and lack of a sideboard factored in, but which is the bigger decider?
