Mad respect for Graham after 1:27:00, in which he makes sure Ben gets all his Strip Mine triggers, even though he just got quadruple Strip Mined. That's the kind of player the whole community should be.
OK, so people want to know about DEQLA (Double Emperor Quantum Leap Archenemy). Step 1: We started with a Planechase Vanguard combination called Quantum Leap. How it works is, each time you are the person that changes planes, you have to turn in your Vanguard card and get a new one since you had to leave your body behind to keep and send your spark through the portal. Similar to the TV show Quantum Leap, and actually had some backstory with the Might and Meekstones. We usually take all the Planes from a given Planechase "season" and shuffle them together. Our group was lucky enough to not only have all the DCI promo Planes, but we also had a mis-print BLANK plane where nothing happened, and Chaos did nothing. Step 2: Get 7 people together. Determine who will be the Archenemy. They start with 60 life for having 6 "opponents." You can curate a list of the best schemes, or play with whatever you have. Both have been done, and depends greatly on the strength of the decks at the table. Step 3: The other players assemble into two Emperor teams of three. The ideal table setup for this is a U shape, with one team on each stick of the U and the Archenemy on the bottom by themselves. Step 4: We usually played with a spell range of 1. The Archenemy is considered adjacent to all the Emperors' generals, as if they were sitting above them, in some sort of magnificent airship. Step 5: The game is played as normal, with the Archenemy winning when both Emperors are defeated, and an Emperor team winning when the Archenemy and other Emperor are defeated. Step 6: An eighth person is recommended, both as a symbolic henchman for the Archenemy, for handling the Planechase and Vanguard decks, and keeping track of whose turn it is and what is going on. This one game will probably take hours. Be warned. Step 7 (Optional): You can do all of this with Commander as well, making it DECQLA.
Just FYI who gets the Persist/Undying creature depends on whose turn it is on the Mimic Vat case; If the active player is the Mimic Vat controller, his trigger will be put first on the stack, followed by the persist creature, thus the creature will return to the battlefield before mimic vat can exile it. if the active player is the Persist creature controlller, his trigger will be put first on the stack, followed by the Mimic Vat trigger giving it's controller the possibility of exiling before the Persist creature comes back from the graveyard. its the APNAP order = Active Player - > Non Active player.
Thing is though, if persist counts as a death trigger, Adam would control both and therefore could order them as he pleases. Question becomes: "Is this a 'dies' trigger?" and if not, does Adam control the ability? (probably not, but...?)
It acts a little differently that you would suspect. Both the persist and imprint trigger when the creature hits the graveyard and as such they are waiting to be put on the stack. If the two triggers are controlled by two different players then APNAP sorts out how triggers are put on the stack, but in this case, one player controls both triggers. Remember, death triggers are controlled by the player who last controlled it; the same reason why if i steal a thragtusk and it dies, i still get the token. As such, in this case ben chooses the trigger order. The tricky thing here is the wording. One uses dies, the other uses put into the graveyard from the battlefield, but the two are synonymous.
2:07:50 So absolutely happy that Paul either took my suggestion I put in Twitch chat to use the MYST linking book sound AND made the the change mid-stream or that he just ALREADY had it queued up ready to go. What an absolute legend.
looking back, this stream, with its three decks built by ben, one including much bird token creation, really did foreshadow the oncoming "pick up your tokens ben"
Yes but not because of that, but because of the land destruction. I put up numbers back in the day with standard land destruction, but I have adapted with the times to see the error of that path.
i wish wizards would bring back all of the planechase decks in a massive pack, so many people are interested in them but they are just way too expensive.. nothing of them is on the reserve list so im not sure what's keeping them from doing it...
First time watching this channel, when I went to look at the deck lists i was surprised to see how affordable your decks were, in comparison to another channel that I watch. I appreciate that, I feel that you are geared more towards the average, broke, player.
the worst plane: lethe lake, the one that mills you for 10 at the beginning of your upkeep, and mills target opponent when you roll chaos. I've been on that plane long enough to mill one commander deck, and almost mill the rest of us too....
2:48:39 I love you guys. Excellent reference! Especially when Adam looked over at Graham to see if Graham was gonna say it so Adam could first, and then realized he was late.
Tazeem was a rather vertical forst biome that was depicted also in half the forests in OG Zendikar full art basics. The branches are wide enough for one way travel, but narrow enough for that travel to need to concentrate on balancing. Nobody knows how well it fared against the Eldrazi invasion, most likely it needs a massive regrowth campaign.
Dude, Graham, you are single-handedly responsible for me wanting a Treefolk deck xD. I also wish the audio was a bit louder on these last few videos I've watched >_>
Takes place on a plane, air miles may vary; with Planes-Walkers and a deck of plain cards; but not to be confused with Plains, the White mana land cards
I like how graham somehow rewalked through why he should only have gotten stripped 3 times, and probably should've been 2 and took 4 lands off the battlefield. You can't recur the same strip twice with triggers that were stacked together since it would leave and return similar to blinking still fizzles targeting even though the object returns before the removal resolves.
Robert M with those goofy "make a token when the creature attacks" effects, you can sacrifice the Mine retrieved by Sun Titan's effect while the token-making effect is still on the stack, at which point the token Titan 187s the Mine back again.

huge props to graham and ian for keeping calm after that second game, just seemed so unnecessarily shitty to leave naya that fast in such a casual environment
I once played planechase commander, and Naar Isle showed up as the first one we arrived at. Due to rolling, it got to like 16 by the time we got off, which helped cause it was 6 players, but still, that game was short.
the main issue with the planeschase dice is that it's normally too sharp with the edges and corners, where it always has a much harder time rolling. This is why my group always used a d6 and had the 1 be the planeschase while the 6 represented the chaos.
Yo I friggin' love Mimic Vat. I have it in my Traxos deck, and sometimes you just do untappy shenanigans and eat a Myr Battlesphere and steamroll everyone's faces. It's such a good card.
My one an only time I played EDH Planechase was horrible. The Mono Blue Control player went first, and on his turn 2 he rolled chaos 3 times on the plane that gives extra turns. we never recovered.
i recently played commander + planechase as vaevictus asmadi and the biggest play i did whas against the scarab god which ahd a big board of 13+ zombies and others (about 17 creatures) i planeswalk to jund, cast insurrection (which i banished with gonti from another player) attack with all zombies and extra and in main phase 2 cast squee from the grave devouring all the creatures i got from insurrection... that whas one big squee :p
Hey Graham, if you think Pilsner and Kölsch is bland, try to find an Alt Bier. Alt Bier would be called a bitter, I guess, here in Germany you'd just call it an Alt as a type. Alt is the regional speciality beer of Düsseldorf, and due to Düsseldorfs rivalry with Köln (Cologne), Kölschs natural enemy. My favourite brand is Füchschen, but there are many more and Füchschen is very hard to find even in the rest of Germany. Other good brands are Schlüssel or Bolten(not actually from Düsseldorf, but good beer is good beer), or if you like bitters Üerige. Don't go for Diebels though, it's widely considered to be the worst of the bunch.
What was the sound effect they were using for the plane changing? I know it's from an old video game I played, pretty sure SNES era but for the life of me I can't place it.
Idk why Ben killed Adam first... he could have been using Adam's big creatures to kill the other ones playing low power creatures and then done adam... he was keeping his board under control doing that
I have a full set of Planechase and Avatars. Both are an acquired taste. This sadly encompasses how Planechase goes in EDH, if you land on a "ho-hum" plane, most of the time ppl just chill there. If you are ahead, and the plane is destructive, you will often chill there. The die always feels like it either is turbo-charged or broken (not working). Fun watch even though I could feel the shoulder shrugs *Did everyone get a Fractured Powerstone in their deck? I always have them on hand if we play Planechase

The Phyrexian Processor tokens have their p/t set by how much life was spent when the artifact etbs. Any clones or token copies would share the same p/t as the original token.
Stealing does not trigger Enter the Battlefield effects. You'd need to cast from hand, blink out/in, rez from graveyard... anything that changed zones back to the board.
When Ian skullclamps birds, he gets to draw cards, and yet when I do the same thing in public parks I just get arrested.

I really enjoyed the use of the ActRaiser enter battle sound for changing planes.
