The main problem the way I see it, is that people are more passive and accepting in other communities and that's been making the TK community look harsh in comparison. The problem is only with the amount of sell outs and forgiving fanboys in those other communities, just for the sake of building an overly positive space and showing they are supportive fans. Like, to me SF6 deserved much harsher reactions for the prices of dlc and avatar items.
That’s what happens when you are the only 3D fighting game on the market. It gets in your head , you monopolise , and you expect everyone to blindly follow you. So glad this wasn’t the case in this game .
I think the situation is worse than that... Actually there were VF, SC and DOA in the last generation, that wasn't a long time ago. So technically TK is not the only 3d fg in the market, only in this PS5 gen, but in practice TK is the only 3d fg that matters. And that's very worrying because it means the 3d rivals will have a lot of trouble to actually compete against TK even if a new VF, DOA or SC come out on the PS5. Their presence is not strong anymore as it was a long time ago.
This doesn't happen in the 2d side. Like, SF is pretty strong right now, but it wasn't that way in the SF5 era. Arc Systems games like GG and DBFZ managed to get a lot of attention too. And there was a time in the 00s when SF was even dead and buried, but other franchises were active like GG. So the most important 2d franchise, SF, doesn't dominate the 2d scene in the same sense that TK now dominates the 3d scene. And the result is worrying just like you said... The company and devs got inflated egos because they "beat" the 3d rivals and are now infinitely above them in sales and recognition. This monopoly will only really favor Bandai Namco's finances but it will harm the 3d fg genre and even the franchise itself because there's no real competition. Let's remember TK's miraculous leaps of quality (T3 and T5) were motivated by the competition of rivals in the 90s and early 00s. The 3d scene was the most stacked in the early 00s thanks to VF4 and SC2, meanwhile the demoralized T4 was being pressured by those high quality rivals. That's what the 3d genre is needing right now.
The gameplay is frustrated at high ranks especially. The game pushes you to gamble with your options. Not to mention certain characters are insane when having heat combined. Kuma, Kazuya, Hwo, Drag, King to name a few.
@@thorcolossus I think from what I've seen, most negative reactions are valid and a smaller part is "hate". But there's also the problem that most of the community in general started getting more passive and accepting of the companies' questionable practices, for the sake of showing extra support to the companies. So in contrast, the TK community is more critical. Which doesn't make it hateful... Just not fanboyish and passive as the SF community for example. As Capcom has done worse with dlc pricing than Bandai Namco but the SF community doesn't complain with half of the energy of the TK community.
The compensation isn't really compensation either. Its a stage that should have been included anyway rather than "Well we'll do you a favor and make it free" and 5 quid credits that you can spend on us. Wow. What a game changer.
Definitely deserves some of it. The monetization practices have been awful, and the decision to stop big balance patches early magnified hate for "broken" stuff. Jin is absolutely busted though.
@@YAGB I think SF got worse because of the overpriced dlc costumes and overpriced avatar items. Which is not important in itself, but I'm just focusing on the pricing. The concerning part here is the company doing that and the community not showing a strong negative reaction. Anyways both games are suffering from this modern management that is desperate to rip off their supportive hardcore fans. All this post launch monetization is getting worse in every sequel of every game.
6:13 "vocal backlash is bad because it will push away new players with negativity, which means less profit for the company, and less Tekken for everyone else." Yeah well to those people who say that I will say that it's not right to gaslight other people just so that you get to keep playing Tekken. Well really it's not right to gaslight, just in general. I wouldn't want some random guy who's never played Tekken to buy this game thinking it's gonna be great, and then a few days later when the novelty of a new game wears off he's then left with this feeling that he's wasted his money. I want these people to be able to make an informed decision on whether or not they wanna buy it. They should be fully aware of both the pro's and the con's, so that they're not left feeling cheated. And also, there are many people in the world who would say to themselves "you know what, I still think this looks pretty fun, even with it's con's. I'm gonna buy it, i don't care." And that's perfectly fine. They've made that informed decision on their own, they're not being tricked.
It's already concerning enough that nowadays all these fg franchises have a segment of "cheerleader influencers". The companies look for popular influencers and turn them into sell outs and (most importantly) damage control experts during any controversy. TK, SF, MK, etc... all have their shill influencers.
real, ppl like sajam say this too; "stop critisicing the game nobody will want to play it!!!" bro GOOD maybe they will stop making scummy decisions. nobody has to pretend to enjoy shit so a company can make a buck
A lot of the criticism is valid and Namco has *certainly* made some PR fumbles, but I feel overall optimistic about the future of this game. Almost every patch after the Eddy patch has been a step in the right direction so I think the developers know the about the problems and are working to fix them.
tekken 8 devs designed this game so predatory in regards to experienced players. almost every new thing im this game is intended to hurt high level play so newbies can feel like they are winning. devs have said it time and time again that they want worse players overtaking strong players. until their design philosophy changes, the game will be stuxk getting placebo changes
@@ACloudWithoutAir Its not true, its bullshit lmao. High level players also get access to all mechanics that noobs do. Not everyone wants to play the same game for 20 years like you do. Tekken 8 is great.
I really dislike Tekken 8's direction but let's stop with the "the game favors new and bad players" cope. It's just empirically false. Look at something like Evo or Combo Breaker Top 8. Filled with top players playing since Tekken 7 and earlier.
@Metalija1315 this is the whole tekken community bro, they hear one thing on a stream, they go with it, checking how much attention they can get by having the same shitty opinion as a streamer, eventually, their rating of tekken will be as useless as them, nobody will care about the crybabies

I play Tekken 8 out of obligation as a legacy player. Not because i enjoy the game. I enjoyed Tekken tag 2 and Tekken 7 far more gameplay wise. The game has lots of issues and instead of transparency and immediate fixes we got microtransactions smashed down our throats. In my country (Australia) standard edition is still $115, delux is $160, and ulitmate is $180. Characters are $12 and stages are $7.50. Now let me ask you if you paid $160 and the stages werent free because people didnt complain you would have piad $182.50 for all of aeason 1 content. If i bought standard i would have paid $173.50 with the characters and stages if they werent free. How the fuck does delux end up costing you more then standard? And, if you were paying close to $200 for a game and its content (Season 1 only may i remind you) wouldn't you expect the game to deliver on the minimum front and address key gameplay and online functionality issues? The game is straight up a rip off from a consumer value point of view and the gameplay is not good enough to justify the price tag. This is thr least ive ever played a Tekken game and legacy players are dropping of because they hate the game. Some of my favourite pro players and content creators i rarely see stream or straight up quit. Ty, Joey Furry, Frame Whisperer, Arsenalty. Legacy player dont just leave without good reason and i think the reasons are pretty blatantly obvious.
stop glazing game devs, harada is not your friend, scamco is not your friend, these people exist to take your money to please shareholders. the fact with everything going on harada still goes “dont ask for ****” is not him joking, thats literally him thumbing his nose at you guys, but so lomg as people glaze these companies, the battlepasses will continue
great video. My biggest gripe about tekken is the "financial costs" bs they always lean on when it comes to justifying this bs monetization. THEY control the budget! Why invest so much damn money into a game project that then "forces" the developers to implement crummy monetization schemes? This was all by design. Who tf asked for nike and chipotle cross promotions? I just wanted another decent tekken game. Not no ugly ass shoes that cost waaay more than they should. They get so much "heat" because they lie straight to our faces about shit they think we're too stupid to understand. As far as Im concerned, this whole cost of gaming argument is moot. No game "has" to cost hundreds of millions of dollars to appear on a platform. They have all these back room deals and promotions with investors wanting their cut post release. It has fuck all to do with the players desire for a new game. You can see it transform in tekken 7. Tekken was a game for the players all the way up til tekken 6. Cut all this side trash and bloat from the game and see how much it costs to develop then. Tekken players didnt ask for some overproduced, cinematic slop story mode. Scenario campaign wouldve been just fine at probably half the cost. Bullshit Namco. Bull. Shit.
@@raadbekatyzakov2029 not cope. I think that if you are paying 70, 100 or 110 for the game (depends on what edition) and still having to pay to unlock content behind a f2p model paywall it's stupid. Even if they're just cosmetics.
@@NaoHana1 Yeah, the main problem is that their greed is just getting bigger and worse in each sequel. And this is also going in every new sequel of every other fg. Things like cosmetics and stages are just pretext to highlight the issue of greed... and we must not pretend that dlc characters (the most important type of dlc) will never be affected by that increasing greed. In fact all these companies lately are already setting up dlc packs before the games are even out, and they are more expensive, and in some cases smaller packs than in the last game. So even that part of just characters is getting affected. The controversy is not literally about cosmetics and one paid dlc stage... It's about a whole big situation.
Sorry, you can add MTX to old games. That's the only reason they haven't re-released them. And now companies will probably go after emulators so you can't play their old games without MTX.
tbh for me the main problem of this game is beside the predatory monatization, it's the game itself very poor balancing, anti cheat problem, performance issues, and simplification of some characters that aren't necessary, if you want more people to buy the game, then you need to fix the game, i,ve never been so tired mentally because tekken 8 demand you to guess every single time, the game is just 50/50 everyday all day long, and one wrong guess will cost you probably the round.
@@Arsa... the gap between drag, alisa, yoshi and the rest of the roster is really not that wide. all characters in this game are viable in tournament, unlike t5dr where it was just dvj and heihachi

@@Arsa... do not compare the release of leroy and fahk in t7 with this current iteration of drag and alisa. we're seeing people win and perform well in master/challenger events with most of the cast. if you followed the pro scene in t7 it was dominated by 2ds pretty much the whole lifespan of the game (albeit a few notable exceptions). nerf after nerf and they still dominated. also i don't even play a top tier character, so i'm not defending them. just saying this game is really not as hard as people are making it out to be. it was on release though, that was ridiculous i can admit.

@@yoshitsune5691 because the top players have changed the way they played to accel in this system, this does not mean it feels good to do so. this game gives you so many tools to enforce mix-ups while actively removing tools to defend those mix-ups. by default this means the game is more volatile than previous entries; the last tekken having mix-ups in specific areas doesn't equate to this entry having mix-ups as the defining moment to moment gameplay sidestep had to be actually buffed due to there underperformance after tekken 8's release, specifically because the tracking in this game is fucked. if you are not actively making your opponent guess constantly, you are not going to lose in this game. a large part of what tekken rewards for the past 20 years has been space control and whiff punishment not enforcing mix-ups
All i wanted was team battle mode so i can do a 3 vs 3 (or more) with my Friends vs other guys. Tekken right now is ONLY competitive, forcing newcommers to be super frustrated and leaving the game because tekken is the hardest fighting game to pick up for beginners. Two of my friends deinstalled after 1 month because all you could do as a beginner was either training and labing like as if this was a part time job , or constantly getting owned online and dont know why. Its like inviting white belts to a black belt Tournament and then being frustrated why they leave
Then Harada looks at this situation and his best conclusion is simplifying and creating chaotic mechanics on purpose to mess with the brain of the experienced player and force him to redefine his understanding of playing TK. Because it takes a lot of effort to create good teaching tools for such a complex fg, and Harada doesn't want that trouble. Harada also neglects work on game modes that engage the beginner. Cinematic story modes are a too passive entertainment to actually work for that goal, it's a big misconception that sadly infested and dominated most fg companies and has been wasting their resources (getting naturally more expensive in every sequel) when those resources could have been applied to gameplay focused single player modes.
Agreed, the longer people are okay with state of the game the less the devs have to change it. I'm also sick of people saying that it's negative or hate when this is how anything gets fixed in the real world. If you don't agree with something or think something should change why drop your standard just to "stay happy".
@@el_vladarou6573 The disagreement comes from the players who actually enjoy Tekken's direction. The t7 oldheads are the main ones raging coz their Block and KBD spam is nerfed. They don't realize how insufferable it was to many ppl for a decade of T7.
@@Kabra2012 good point, I can sympathise with newer players a little bit but this game feels tedious to play. No not really, tekken community has always been like this, sadly since the community has became soo big, and old heads complaining, kinda created this hate eco chamber. Yes some complaints about the game is valid. Now as someone coming from tekken 7 to 8, I’m one of the few tekken 7 fan boys, who enjoys tekken 8 for what it is.
You can’t blame the community everytime when Bandai Namco make everything in their power to only take action when they receive backlash for their decision and never do it before. This game sadly NEEDS negative reviews because they literally refuse act otherwise One example, Its been almost 10 months and you can still get away with rage quitting/Cheating as long as you sneaky with it in ranked because they refuse to put an anti-cheat and rather ban « manually » (??????) and that obviously dosn’t fix anything as people can still do it but just get punished 3 months later when a update happens Ranked is literally the main mode of this game for the players that play this game every day and something like this that big of a issue being overlooked while actively selling reused costumes from T7 in the shop feel like getting spit on face and being asked to not complain about it I love this game and for it to be better, the game flaws need to be exposed or Bandai Namco continue to see that their predatory tactics don’t get complaints and start to do things like selling frame data like in T7
@ I literally said some complaints are valid, from cheaters to rages quits to how badly they monetised the game. But the general balance of the game is ok for a year 1 release, I’ve seen worse year one release in the fgc, street fighter 5 for example. My comment is mainly towards people hating 50/50s in the game, even tho every other fighting game has them. Hell tekken 7 akuma is still broken to this day!
@@yoshitsune5691 i see, i see missread then as i myself have no problem with the game gameplay itself We def not having it the worse between the first year compared to other fighting games but my point about making the reviews still stand as making the game better in the long run so imo its does deserve a part of the hate🙏
I just wish people understood that the corporate greed aspect is a general issue overall with the entire gaming industry unfortunately and is NOT exclusive to Tekken alone. Heck Mortal Kombat was one of my all time favorite franchises growing up and now it’s a mere shadow of itself former self because of modern day practices.
Doesn't get enough hate. Bandai Namco is a scummy company that mistreats its workers and its customers. They put out patch after patch breaking the game down even farther, while shoving greedy MTX in your face, then dangle 500 coins in your face thinking you're the stupidest person on the planet thats going to accept their apology. Their world tour is a complete joke since countries are barred for absolutely no reason. And finally Tekken 8 is the worst tekken by a country mile in terms of gameplay. Netcode is complete dogsh*t, and ranked system is absolutely pathetic. The heat system spits in the face of legacy players who've spent countless hours in previous versions, but is stupid enough that scrubs don't even enjoy it. There's nothing to like about this game, it keeps getting worse, the decisions made by the company keep getting worse, everything that's wrong about Tekken is represented in this one game. Yet somehow it keeps making it to tournaments like EVO France. If you want an authentic tekken experience, then Tekken 5: Dark resurrection is the way to go. I hope this game doesn't live past season 1, but with the announcement of TWT 2025, there's zero chance that's happening.
Bro…why the f@&$ don’t we have gloves customization in a fighting game? Yes they deserve the hate and criticism. More power to the community that paid for this game.

I bought my PS5 and Tekken 8 on the same day back in April 2024. Since then i have only played 154 hours and made it to fujin on online ranks. I have no interest in playing that game or getting better. I have since gone back to Tekken 7
Some Tekken fans can be super obnoxious when it comes to any change. I do think T8’s marketing, development and even socials are being held in a messy way. I imagine it’s a lot more stressful behind the scenes.
Imo this is the "Arcade" period of tekken 8 cuz there was no arcade tekken 8. Problem this game has is it such a cluster fuck of issues. Character balancing is standard. But if they can fix heat, chip and be a bit more honest with the community. The game will do better.
The balance in this game is fine. Is it perfect? No. It is 90% better than any fighting game that came out years prior however. It’s the same with SF6. The balance for new fighting games is always pretty close. It’s so close that the outliers really stick out to you. Drag, Alisa, Yoshi, Nina, and Jin could use some toning down sure. They’ve been steadily making changes to ensure that they don’t over tune something and break the game in a different direction. Except Azucena, they just took her out back and shot her.
Tekken 8 gives everyone a chance to win which is perfect for everyone and yeah I love seeing new faces rather than seeing Arslan always win every damn tournament like in Tekken 7. If they still want to play Tekken 7 rules then just play Tekken 7 maybe create tournaments for that game as well just like with the Smash Community
It's not entirely a bad game yet it feels almost like SF5 than any Tekken, but I shouldn't always play it because it is actually a project of getting unnecessarily mad and salty
No it hasn’t 50/50 has been in every other fighting game ever, and tekken still has sidestepping to invalidate a lot mix ups, it’s just not as good as tekken 5 or tag 2, where u have to always realign to not get sidestep launched, for doing a simple poke. I gotta love the eco chamber of hate without actually trying to adapt and find way around certain cheep shit in the game. And yes some complaints about the game is valid. But the 50/50 thing is soo stupid, sf6 has strike throw 50/50 for example, don’t get me started how bs some mixups are in guilty gear. @@yoshitsune5691”I swear, tekken players only play tekken and ignore other fighting games” Yeah; that’s because we are tekken players. Stop trying to make tekken more like street fighter.
We got spoiled by T6 and TTT2. But if you compare what you get with T8 compared to direct competitions like SF6 and MK1. T8 is still more generous. Character models, stages and custom items are not recycled from previous games. Theyre all rebuilt from the ground up. We are not entitled to them just because they were in previous games. What Bamco is doing wrong is they are not being transparent about these things.
Tekken 8 is a great fighting game. You may not think it’s a great Tekken game, but it is a great game regardless. Yes, the Tekken shop is dumb and pointless. Yes, the whole controversy around the Genmaji Temple stage was justified cause Bamco was wrong for that. Yes, cheaters and pluggers are a problem and need to be fixed. Yes, the XQC controversy was also justified. Once again, Bamco was in the wrong for that. And Yes, characters Eddy and Lidia shouldn’t have been dlc. But is the actual game itself bad? No. The heat system is getting unnecessary hate. People just need to get used to it, until the devs decide to rework it so that it feels more balance. Speaking of balance, folks complaining about character balance is also annoying. And don’t get me started on the stupid argument of “It’s too aggressive”. T8 is probably one of the best fighting games of the year and imo, the second best Tekken game, right under T5DR. It isn’t perfect. And we can definitely give Bamco shit for all the gross monetization. But let’s not pretend the game is legitimately bad.
@@JcgLounge omg this! I’m getting flamed for the same opinion, idk people are in the hate echo chamber, this isn’t a tekken problem tho, I feel like every new game is getting hate for some reason.
I really really disagree that Temple situation is justified. I think it would be good if it was in the "pass" with ultimate edition, but what I don't get is people getting mad because of their own made up expectations, when they should've actually read what they're buying.
tekken 8 tried to appeal to casuals and lost the respect of its old fanbase. Hope they iron out many of the new tools some character's got and Heat-engager 50/50s should be scrapped. i wish we got to reset the neutral after hits/knockdown's, currently its too snowbally
Yes! Thank you Whoever sneaks in f2p battlepass, shop and pay walling old basic content with that after release deserves heat as high as possible! Understand that fighting games do seasons with buy able characters. I dont like it but i am fine with it. All the other stuff in a full priced game on top of the seasons is just greedy! And you can see it T8 gets more store adjustments than game adjustments. The after release stuffed in store has more value for them than the game. The game has the same isssues since months but the store gets an update
Pc port is good. Have a new pc, but played the game on a 2019 mid range system, rtx2060. You could run that on ultra , dlss and absolutely no frame drops. Netcode seems worde than t7 however. For whatever reason my larency to a friend has simply doubled from tekken 7 to 8, for some god damn reason, makes no sense.
I am a Tekken veteran and former world champion & I can tell you that the folks who are complaining about it are either inexperienced and need more practice or just not willing to take the time to learn and find a counteractive to the newest mechanics. Gameplay is not the problem it’s the player. I’m simply not being an ass and saying “ Just get good” either so don’t take it that way. Why are you also complaining about the game running promotions with other brands and companies. This is a first for the franchise & I think it’s quite a fun concept. It shows just how recognizable the series has become over the years. You don’t have to buy or download this material. Speaking of which, games have DLC now, this is the world we live in. I can name far more games that have been more egregious with it than Tekken 8 has. Lastly, complaining about a game going down in steam numbers is not a relevant complaint. All games go through their own downfall in players after release. This weeds out the fans and newcomers who discovered their love for it vs the people who purchased it because everyone else has and it wasn’t for them. The game has healthy numbers. I never understood the hate. This is simply the whiny world we live in I guess. We have to complain about anything and everything until we get to take away the fun for everyone else.. Enough is enough. Play the game and enjoy it, or don’t and hate it. If you choose the latter do us fans and competitors a favor and keep it to yourselves.
Just because another game did MTX worse than Tekken 8, doesn't excuse the predatory nature of it, can't believe there are people defending it. The promotions are intrusive, that's all I'll say on that. Steam numbers are mentioned a lot, not because people are complaining about it, but because they're point it out and correlating it to the other problems the game has had and the changes that have been made. This mindset of "criticism = hate" is so reductive, do you want a better game? Voice your concerns and make your complaints heard. I am allowed to enjoy the game and I'm also allowed to criticize it at the same time.
Congratulations on having the worst take possible. No. Everything you said is utter garbage. Stay the fuck out of my pockets with the monetization. Keep your ad campaigns disguised as "crossovers" to yourself. And a game that parades itself on being a highly skilled esport-competitive title breaking down to a gambling simulator is inexcusable. Keep defending terrible company practices though. I'm sure you'll get that Konami paycheck eventually.
And help give the developers a permission base to continue taking the franchise in a gameplay direction that I hate? No, thanks! T8 to me looks about as appetising (in terms of its gameplay) as a steaming pile of excrement produced by a dog with a bad case of diarrhoea! As someone who abandoned T7 in favour of older Tekkens because I felt that T7 was already skewed far too much towards CQC and hyper-aggression at the expense of footsies, I'm hardly going to be chomping at the bit to go within a million miles of a game that doubles down on that! The only way I'm going to stop complaining is if Bandai Namco create a port of older Tekkens for modern hardware, replete with decent netplay, so that those of us who want to play them online have a viable means of doing so, without having to faff about with emulation. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
Tekken 8 is awesome i don't care what the loudest minority says about it. Yes it have issues, yes the heat system is or was (a bit) unbalanced but itsa completly new mechanic, of course it can't be perfect on the first try. Its not that unbalanced and except some adjusments needed to tracking (both whiffing for no reasons or hitting when it shouldn't) and some characters like Yoshimitsu. But thats normal to have these flaws, specially when its the first game of a new generation with new mechanics who change the way the game is played. The shop and battlepass are great too, we don't need more cosmetics or anything like that, the only change i can agree with for the cosmetics in general are: to give us the preview before having to buy the item and to buy cosmetics useable on all characters only once for all of them. Battle pass is great, no need to change it at all, it doesn't need more skins, doesn't need more rewards or tiers, no need to change anything even the missions are good and pay well enought. Tekken 8 shouldn't be Tekken hate, there is absolutly no reasons for it except "its different than what it was before". The only thing i hate about it is that they bringed back Heihachi alive, he should have stayed dead for many reasons. He should not be alive in the canon anymore or if they really want to go this way: he should have came back a bit like Jinpachi did before him, as demon not as himself fully alive. Making him reappear in the canon so coming back in the storylines, would not only nullify the canon endiong of Tekken 7 but also make the arrival of his grand daughter Reina so much less significant, erase a lot of the role she have and won't be nearly as important for Tekken as whole. Also, even if the endings aren't all canon and some characters don't really have any role in the main story. Tekken always made only canon character appears, unlike Street fighter; for example; did with Oni, who doesn't exist at all. He was a projection of what Rose's though Akuma would become when fully consumed by the satsui no hado. In Tekken even Mokujin had a role and was canon, even the character from other franchise like Akuma and Eliza were canonised to be in the game, otherwise they wouldn't have been in the roster, DLC or not. So yes, for all these reasons and probably more: Heihachi should have stayed dead and not appear in the game at all or in a completly different way. This is the only thing i hate about this game. Tekken 8 is still my 2nd favorite Tekken game and one of my favorite fighting game in general, no matter what the haters says. (Also: visual clarity isn't that bad and is way WAY worse in many other FGC games and let me tell you a secret: if the visual effects are too big and distracting for you, go in you settings and TUNE THEM DOWN. The option is there just use it, don't criticise the game for your lazyness.)
It's all deserved because Bandai didn't learn even the backlash after they sold us frame data back in tekken 7 and don't even go to tekken revolution I was there also
Balance is so much better than t7, but monetization is even worse. Heat needs some tuning. Monetization in sf6 is super bad also. Capitalism as a system is the main reason.
Coming from 2k and mk ion think the tekken community appreciate y’all dev team may not be the best but try other games im sure y’all would see t8 with a different light
If they wanted new players to feel welcome, they should have added a mechanic that was skill based, but new enough that it took away the veteran advantage. Instead they added an RNG in heat.
Battle passes and micro-transactions deserve all the hate in the world.
Criticism is deserved towards the game. Corporate greed deserves the hate.
Corporate greed isn’t exclusive to Tekken though.
@@RazuX5 never said it was

Yes, the criticism is a fan's duty.
Also a hate is not a crime btw
Its valid yes but not always rational, same could be said for all fighting games.
It's blind, mindless hate for the sake of it. Rage bait culture of modern day made it possible. Rage bait should be banned and punished.
A lot of it is valid criticism, but a lot of it is hate. Some complaints aren’t rational and I think some of the most vocal are bad faith actors
Their choices of balancing and financial practices reflect on the games image
its amazing how sf6 has arguably more scummy mtx practices but tekken gets all the flak.
@hahanowaytk I've talked about Sf6 aswell the main problem is people are hyping it up so that they can make Money off of it.
Definitely deserves some of it. The monetization practices have been awful, and the decision to stop big balance patches early magnified hate for "broken" stuff. Jin is absolutely busted though.
And Dragonov gets a pass? Lol

6:13 "vocal backlash is bad because it will push away new players with negativity, which means less profit for the company, and less Tekken for everyone else."
Yeah well to those people who say that I will say that it's not right to gaslight other people just so that you get to keep playing Tekken.

Legacy player dont just leave without good reason and i think the reasons are pretty blatantly obvious.

great video.
It's about a whole big situation.

still no infinite rematch is crazy!
tbh for me the main problem of this game is beside the predatory monatization, it's the game itself very poor balancing, anti cheat problem, performance issues, and simplification of some characters that aren't necessary, if you want more people to buy the game, then you need to fix the game, i,ve never been so tired mentally because tekken 8 demand you to guess every single time, the game is just 50/50 everyday all day long, and one wrong guess will cost you probably the round.

@@yoshitsune5691 because the top players have changed the way they played to accel in this system, this does not mean it feels good to do so. this game gives you so many tools to enforce mix-ups while actively removing tools to defend those mix-ups. by default this means the game is more volatile than previous entries; the last tekken having mix-ups in specific areas doesn't equate to this entry having mix-ups as the defining moment to moment gameplay
sidestep had to be actually buffed due to there underperformance after tekken 8's release, specifically because the tracking in this game is fucked.
if you are not actively making your opponent guess constantly, you are not going to lose in this game. a large part of what tekken rewards for the past 20 years has been space control and whiff punishment not enforcing mix-ups

You can’t blame the community everytime when Bandai Namco make everything in their power to only take action when they receive backlash for their decision and never do it before.
This game sadly NEEDS negative reviews because they literally refuse act otherwise
One example, Its been almost 10 months and you can still get away with rage quitting/Cheating as long as you sneaky with it in ranked because they refuse to put an anti-cheat and rather ban « manually » (??????) and that obviously dosn’t fix anything as people can still do it but just get punished 3 months later when a update happens
Ranked is literally the main mode of this game for the players that play this game every day and something like this that big of a issue being overlooked while actively selling reused costumes from T7 in the shop feel like getting spit on face and being asked to not complain about it
I love this game and for it to be better, the game flaws need to be exposed or Bandai Namco continue to see that their predatory tactics don’t get complaints and start to do things like selling frame data like in T7

It's not Tekken!
Corporate greed never seizes to amaze. The split in the dev team was the worst decision for the game but of course the best for their wallets

Imo this is the "Arcade" period of tekken 8 cuz there was no arcade tekken 8. Problem this game has is it such a cluster fuck of issues. Character balancing is standard. But if they can fix heat, chip and be a bit more honest with the community. The game will do better.
The gameplay itself is great. The problem is just bad marketing (post launch) and bad monetization imo
Game deffo has problems with balancing and mechanics. The greediness just fueled the negativity more.

Well of course it does, it turned pretty much into a gambling game.
I swear tekken players only play tekken and ignore other fighting games.
get good.
@@yoshitsune5691 "Bad thing also in other games, so bad thing in Tekken is fine."
See how ridiculous you sound?
@@yoshitsune5691dude lying so hard. Heat engage is literally a free 50/50 so please stop
@@yoshitsune5691”I swear, tekken players only play tekken and ignore other fighting games”
Yeah; that’s because we are tekken players. Stop trying to make tekken more like street fighter.
Love releasing scummy business practices after the game releases to avoid backlash.
Great party game
I really really disagree that Temple situation is justified. I think it would be good if it was in the "pass" with ultimate edition, but what I don't get is people getting mad because of their own made up expectations, when they should've actually read what they're buying.
@@GibbyVeeit’s not a serious competition game
tekken 8 tried to appeal to casuals and lost the respect of its old fanbase.
Hope they iron out many of the new tools some character's got and Heat-engager 50/50s should be scrapped.
i wish we got to reset the neutral after hits/knockdown's, currently its too snowbally
Well, for some reason SF6 audience is not grilling capcom enough. The shiet they pull without getting tekken fandom levels of whining is astounding!
Yes!
Thank you
Whoever sneaks in f2p battlepass, shop and pay walling old basic content with that after release deserves heat as high as possible! Understand that fighting games do seasons with buy able characters. I dont like it but i am fine with it.
All the other stuff in a full priced game on top of the seasons is just greedy! And you can see it
T8 gets more store adjustments than game adjustments. The after release stuffed in store has more value for them than the game. The game has the same isssues since months but the store gets an update
It could suffer the same fate as MK11
Give me Tifa or my negative review stands
Pc port is good. Have a new pc, but played the game on a 2019 mid range system, rtx2060. You could run that on ultra , dlss and absolutely no frame drops. Netcode seems worde than t7 however. For whatever reason my larency to a friend has simply doubled from tekken 7 to 8, for some god damn reason, makes no sense.
i much prefered the if its not broken dont fix it aproach of previous entries
I'm just not a fan of fighting games that make old returning fighters as dlc .
The game itself is great. Buddies and I play every week. Monetization is trash
I mean its micro transaction but only for cosmetics, i am totaly okay with it
Yes.
Former World champion 😭😭😭😭
I hate tekken 8. Heat ruined the game for me, have over 2k hours in tekken 7 I didn't even get 200 in tekken 8. Uninstalled 2 months ago.
It's all deserved because Bandai didn't learn even the backlash after they sold us frame data back in tekken 7 and don't even go to tekken revolution I was there also
y’all need to touch grass. I swear every week there is a new controversy. I’ve learned to just tune out the weekly bitchfest.
It's just Bandai doing whatever.
I like the 'Palm meets face' one-- LOL
Balance is so much better than t7, but monetization is even worse. Heat needs some tuning. Monetization in sf6 is super bad also. Capitalism as a system is the main reason.
fgc boomers when the sequel 20 years later is different to to the one they played as a kid:
really yall need to shut up. tekken 8 is so much fun.
You got to buy a super expensive battle pass to get all the rewards is lame😅
the bearded man, MM and the rest of the devs and namco marketing are peddlers, Tekken ATE is the digital drug.
Me whose been hating since the 4th season of Tekken 7 😅
Didn't watch the video but: Yes.
Coming from 2k and mk ion think the tekken community appreciate y’all dev team may not be the best but try other games im sure y’all would see t8 with a different light
a-just-a-don't a-buy the-a-cosmetics, play sims if you're into that
If they wanted new players to feel welcome, they should have added a mechanic that was skill based, but new enough that it took away the veteran advantage. Instead they added an RNG in heat.
