  • A friend commissioned me to make a water bottle holster for her, and she's very fond of hummingbirds. And after spending so long carving and tooling this, I can say that I'm quite fond of them now, too.
I really tried to trim all the fat from this video, but that means less over-explaining by me, so any questions about the process feel free to fire away.

Every time you start burnishing something there's a piece in my brain that just goes 🎉🎆🎉🎈 so never stop, lol.
This turned out beautifully! Congrats on your first commission!

Such a beautiful hummingbird and I loved the crisscross stitching you did! People would be silly not to commission you for work because it’s fantastic!!!

God, I hope one day I have enough money to get a commission from you, this was absolutely stunning!

That's very flattering, thanks! Also, is your name a Mitchell and Webb reference?

@@Cxizent possibly, i watch them a lot so maybe the phrase lodged itself in my head. I just changed it because I play a lot of D&D online, and i don't want people knowing my real name. And Cheese Monger was the first thing to pop into my head. Which I'm now 90% sure comes from a Mitchell and Webb sketch. Any way this has been a very roundabout and drawn out way to say, maybe.

This is so cool! I didn't realize it had been so long since I've been able to watch one of your videos. Life's been a bit wild, but I'm glad to finally start catching up on the stuff you've been up to. The hummingbird on this is absolutely gorgeous. Did you draw the design for the bird and flowers yourself? It's stunning.

Thankyou for the kind words, I'm glad life is a bit less wild for you! Sadly it's not my original art, just something royalty-free that I found. I agree that it's very beautiful art though

Sweeet! Frackin autofocus... If you want to try the poor person's electric burnisher, it's a corded drill, a chuck-mount burnisher, a 240v foot controller (sewing machine pedal type thing) and a clamp to hold it to your table. Not as safe, not as powerful but much cheaper and more portable.

Thanks for the tip! I've tried using a wooden wheel burnishing... thing, attached to my Dremel, and I really don't like the results I get with it. I might try playing around with securing a drill, that sounds like a good cheap option!
