- I look like such a potato in this video WHOOPS. 🙃 Please excuse my messy hair ahahaha! This week's video is another how-to video, this time covering wig styling basics! I'm not the most knowledgable when it comes to wigs, but I hope this video proves helpful regardless. Have any wig styling tips of your own? Share them down in the comments!

I’ve been cosplaying for eight years and I still don’t know how to do this lol
MOOD HAHA
Then me with ugly short hair so I wear wigs
@@sadbabyclown right I have legit edna hair-
SAME MY FRIEND DOES IT FOR ME
Since I was 1 yrs old nice
Wigs were always my weak point in cosplay
*so this is perfect-*
facepaint is my weak point (btw one of my cosplayd are in my pfp)
@@toxicated_gamer57 you look really cool in ur cosplay 👍🏻
@@violet_jay8935 TYSM
same. i got the outfit, the gear, and the props right. the wigs... i just can't get it to work
same!! I made like giant wings for my cospkay and im still finding the wig harder
If your scissors are dull try cutting tin foil! it works really well for me to resharpen scissors
Ohhh I've never heard of that, thank you!
Maybe you could do a video on wig spiking for anime characters with spikes hair
Gon from hunter x hunter

@@syskichii and kaito-
Killua
I can smell the copious amounts of hairspray+hair gel already
You can also use Tacky Glue to style the spikes instead of the spiking glue.
Oooo ok
I like tacky glue better just because it’s really easy to find even the dollar tree has it
Girl!! Your Mirai Kuriyama cosplay is fire!!!! ♥️
Does this really work? Can it wash out?
@@wilma678 From a Google search, it says its removable with water and soap. Citrus based cleaners also work apparently. I will post an update after I wash my wigs.
Omg the silicone spray!! I used it for the first time last year and didn't put a towel down in my hardwood 😭 my living room was a slip and slide for MONTHS lol
As an equestrian it was so wild to see mane and tail come up in a wig video XD
same hahaha ive got loads of that stuff around :P how convenient!
My friend uses it for his beard too!
I think a lot of people are worried that when you brush a wig you'll accidentally pluck it bare xD don't worry, you won't. Random hairs will probably fall out every now and again, but you'd be hard pressed to ruin a wig with one styling.
Thank you for this. As someone who is just starting out in cosplaying, I was worried I may ruin my wig if I brushed it too much
I saw the thumbnail and thought she was doing a wig Neopolitan style!
I’m doing a Neo cosplay right now and I’ve been trying to find a good wig styling tutorial! Thank you!
*roman torchwick has entered the chat*
Well that's why I'm here lmao
i actually just got a neo wig today!
I read neopolitan as napoleon😭🇫🇷
Was gonna say, is that Neo!?
if you want to cut a fringe while wearing a wig (which i always do, i find it helps to make sure it’s exactly where you want it) i really recommend little thread scissors! they’re usually super sharp and because they have a tiny blade it’s really easy to be super precise with your snips! i have a fringe in my actual hair and i always use thread scissors to trim it because it makes it so much easier than trying to manhandle a massive pair of scissors right next to my face lol
Maybe do a video on wigs for characters that have shaved sides or shorter hair?
Thank you so much for making this, Anya! My first wig, that was for my Fluttershy cosplay, was a matted mess by the time I was done with it and I had no idea how to fix it. 🤣 This will come in handy.
Fluttershy 💓
no way! my first cosplay wig i ordered is for twilight, shes coming in soon(:
Me styling my Chiaki wig and failing MISERABLY: 👁👄👁
I'm trying to style Nagito wig. It's not working 💃💃💃
I’m getting a chiaki cosplay soon and I’m trying to learn how to style it 👺✌️ it’s my first cosplay 😳
@@valx12936 I'm in the same situation but with a Maki cosplay, it's my very first one and since Im going to my first con as well I'm actually scared to mess up styling it-
iM GETTING MY IBUKI COSPLAY...IM SCARED
SAME
I wish I had seen this before I butchered my monomi wig trying to make bangs 😓
Same
i did the same to my friends deku wig :( shes kinda mad at me and when i can im getting her a new one
Hi Anya! Weird request, but could you maybe do a video on what you need to know to cosplay from certain franchises, or the stigmas around not knowing enough about certain characters or fandoms at conventions?
I've never, ever heard of that mane n tail detangler, but I'm really thankful that you mentioned that, Anya! Thank you, that'll come in handy for my longer wigs!
I discovered mane and tail shampoo 40 years ago. All the girls used it
I am going to purchase a wig for a Monokuma and Chihiro Fujisaki cosplay, the reviews say it’s great quality but a LOT of styling will be required. Thanks for the help!
just as i was about to style my first wig! thank you!
This was sooo helpful, I haven’t ever needed to do anything crazy with my wigs and whenever I look up tutorials they’re kinda complex, don’t show the whole process, and are just not as relatable. Seeing you do the basics with a non hyper pro perspective was so nice, I felt like I could actually do everything💘 Thank you!!
i more recently got into cosplay needed to learn how to tease my wigs but all the other videos were sort of confusing, so thank you
That you so much!I’m currently styling a wig for Emma (tpn) this helped so much!
omg, im waiting for some pocket money to get stuff for her lmao- im terrified
Ok this is ✨amazing✨
Im planning to buy a couple of wigs soon for some cosplays and this will be super helpful
Oooh thank you for the teasing advice, I didn't know that!! If you wanted maybe similar video ideas/other topics, maybe talking about how to clean a wig could be interesting? No pressure though, great videa as always!
i’ve gotten all my wig brushes/combs off amazon, they’ll probably be much cheaper there
they're pretty cheap at beauty supplies too ! i use wig brushes for my actual hair lol ✨kinky hair life✨
I am a new cosplayer and I have never styled a wig. My other cosplays all had straight wigs that didn't really need styling until I got my Junko wig from Danganronpa. If you don't know what she looks like, she has really crazy hair. (You can look it up if you want) So I went out, bought got2b and a teasing brush, and started. The first ponytail looked amazing, but the second turned out really bad and I am still trying to fix it and I don't know what to do. Should I wash it out? If so, how do I do that?
I've heard to wash it with fabric softener/detergent! So you out it into a sink or tub and put the fabric softener/detergent in and leave it to soak for a few hours, after brush it out and leave it to dry! Super late but I hope it helps others!
Yay!!! I’ve been looking all over UA-cam for a video like this! I just got my first wig! Thank you!
as someone who is still a beginner at cosplaying, this helped a lot! especially with teasing and spiking, (I plan on doing a nagito komaeda cosplay later this year and styling the wig would be a bit challenging for me) so this helped a lot! :D
omg this absolutely amazing! this is so so so helpful! thank you so much Anya!!!
Yay! Wig styling! I really needed this!!!! Thanks anya💕💕💕
Very sweet casual video. Thanks for this, Anya. You're funny and awesome.
Thank you so much! I recently bought a wig for a Mary Saotome cosplay, and this helped me so much ❤️❤️
It's almost 1am here and I'm stuck with homework :") Aaa I'm so glad you posted! Thank you for this vid +_+ it is very helpful since I have new a wig coming!
I'm about to purchase a long white wig for my d&d tiefling, this will definitely come in handy!
Bruh, my mom used that detangler all the time for her hair, used to swear by it 😂😂😂
Maybe I should have watched this before attempting to style my wig today 😃
I’m a new cosplayer, and I have a lot of trouble with wigs, but this helps so much! Ty!!
You uploaded the video right as I was styling my Uruaka wig
im doing this for my deku wig hehe
love the tips! thank you! will be using!
Thank you for this :) I’ve never styled a wig before and the end product for me was exactly how I wanted it :)
Thank you for this. It has given me confidence to try stuff- just ordered a polystyrene head 😁
I started cosplaying and your one of my biggest inspirations and my favourite cosplayer! :D
Thank you so much for your video, you help me a lot. I ended up combing all my tease no wonder why it was flat. The spike glue is great tips too.
This is helpful bc I'm starting my first cosplay for a convention I'm going to! Tysm for your work 💕
Thank you for this!
I just bought a wig at Anime Expo because I loved the color but the style is kind of a mess for me so this was awesome for helping to realize I have options. Thank you!
I know I'm late but honestly this is one of the only tutorials thats helped me, it made everything so much easier to understand tysm 😭
omg this is so helpful!!! thank you so much ❤️
Thank you so much for this tutorial! This video was well made and easy to understand :)
I'm so glad to hear it, thank you! 🥰
I'm doing my first proper cosplay for halloween this year but i have no idea where to even start in terms of maintenance. This has been quite useful
Where did you get the wig head stand? I've been looking for something similar.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
Thank you so much, I just got a wig for a cosplay and I need to style it a lot, now I know how to do this, thank you Miss🙏
Hello :) it wasn't an awkward video, maybe you feel like that because it was different from your usual and you had to go out of your comfort zone. Thank you for that 😆 hope you are feeling well and that you are kind to your self 😊
Thank youuu- I’m getting a wig soon so I’m just here like how do style-? And so this was perfect for me lol (I’m getting a long pink wig-)
I’m just starting out on cosplay so this is perfect.
Thankyou this is just what I needed!
Thank you so much! I'm trying to make a k-angel wig and their really helped!
Thank you so much for this! I’ve just gotten into cosplaying and this con I’m going to in a few weeks I’m wearing a wig and have no clue what to do. I have styling products and that got2be stuff everyone seems to use, but this is so helpful.
Ahhhh thank you! This helped me style some Bangs on my cosplays!
This helped a lot!
Love that this was in my recommended but not in my subscriptions
thank you queen
Thanks!!!! I really want to start cosplaying and I didn’t know anything about styling wigs before this
gonna be sal fisher this halloween im veru excited
This girl is the human embodiment of a panda she looks so mutch like a panda it's crazy😍🐼!
i haven’t even watched this all yet but tysm ! i got my first wig for my birthday yesterday
This is super helpful, thank you for making this video!
gonna use this for my ganyu ^^
I got my first wig for a Halloween costume a couple months back and the bangs were super long so I ended up trimming them on my bathroom counter with the wig on my head 😅😅 I’m still finding tiny pink hairs everywhere
Very helpful, i have a wig thats kinda hard to tame, its my furst one and i love this!!!!!!!!
I'm actually early to a video :0
I’ve really been trying to research wig styling tips and i’ve got the necessary tools now, and now I just need to buy a wig and some hairspray then I’ll start it up. This will be my first wig I’ve styled, I’ve had wigs in the past but haven’t ever done anything to them so I figure I’ll do my first styled wig as a beloved character. It will be Stolas from helluva boss and I’ll add some spikes to it and glue some feathers in the lacing, then also try and alter the hairline to give it his iconic widows peak.
Waku Waku✨ I Love Ur Vids✨
imma need this for when i get klee
Hello! Can you make a tutorial on how to tease bangs? I might get cosplay this year for Christmas and it would be helpful if I knew how to do that lol
OMG this is so helpful! Thank you so much 😩💕
Thanks for this. QT what kind of clamps are those for your backdrop?
Im planning to make a Kakyoin wig to double for my school spirit days, for costume parties, and halloween. I hope it goes well.
the fact i use some of the wig brushing techniques for my own hair
I’m gonna try cosplaying Hu Tao from Genshin Impact this Halloween, and I’ve never cosplayed before so I thought I should start figuring how to do this kinda stuff beforehand, lol
Can you do a video on how to wash wigs & how too?
i needed this video before i f'd up cutting the bangs on my arda wig ugh
I’m glad I stumbled across this I have the same wig
This video was super helpful! Is it easy to wash out got2b products if you make a mistake on the wig?
If you wash the wig in a tub or sink with Dawn or shampoo, I've found that Göt 2b styling gel comes out easily. It might take two passes though.
@@moocowbees6220 thanks! Thats reassuring to know

me using a pole for my head making it look like a sacrifice: no that’s wroNG
Dude I am 19 and I’ve been cosplaying since I was 12 and I am flabbergasted to see this
I just started cosplaying 🧍🏽♀️
Thanks for sharing.
So is teasing practically brushing backwards? Also what type of comb do you recommend using?
I’m surprised that there’s no Melanie Martinez comments
I have the same pink comb, it came with one of my wigs
I'm only a casual cosplayer and got a couple nicer wigs for my first full convention, so this was VERY helpful as I got one that is very long and was so afraid to do much to it... but your video made me feel like I can try even without fancy tools since I'm not going for uber fancy - I just want to trim the bangs that are too long and in my eyes, and maybe eventually some length if it proves hard to keep from constantly tangling and too weighty.
I got it more for the pretty colours anyway and it is VERY long, so either was going to trim it or maybe put it in loose braids lol since I was trying to also come up with styling ideas so video helped for that, too.
I have that wig😂
Thx ❤
If I don't have one of those wig head stand things to keep it in place, is there anything at all that I can use instead?
So i'm cosplaying Zelda from skyward sword, there aren't really any spikes but i want her hair to stay in place, (BTW i'm not just leaving the wig down, its in three seperate sections, id recommend googling if you dont know what i'm talking about lol sorry) would i still use got2be glue or just regular hairspray? I'm planning on going to con, would my wig get super tangled throughout the day? Would i use the main and tail to prevent that?
sorry for all the questions i've never styled a wig before lol
Just a random question but do you need a brush made for the wig or can you use a normal brush? Also do you need a wig stand for a wig?
What do you do if you have a plastic wig stand (one of the ones you have to assemble) and not a foam one? How do you keep the wig in place while styling? How do you keep it there in general?
Also, does regular hairspray and detangler work?
How long does the teasing and hair spray last? Just curious if I would make my hair weeks before a convention and let it sit until then
pro tip, if you live anywhere rural, you can also get mane n tail detangler from any farm supply store. it's technically a horse product. i got mine super cheap from a local farm supply :]
Wanna always always ALWAYS make sure you wash your wigs before you wear them. Washing the wig takes out a lot of the shine it also makes it easier to style. But if you want the shine don't wash it that much but you should still wash it like after cons bc you don't know what could be in your wig
