wigs feel different for every person I think and it can depend on the size of the weft but the best way I can describe it is that it feels like wearing a hat and the length and thickness of the hair will determine how heavy it feels although if you have long hair or wear extensions then it's similar to that kind of weight. as for the commentary and confidence part I can only speak for myself but people mostly are just curious about where you get wigs or they just like to compliment. there are assholes out there but you learn to ignore them. overall it's mostly just about not caring about what other people think because if it makes you feel good and you like how you look in wigs then their opinions don't matter

Eden Sol maybe you could buy a white or blond wig and watch her wig dyeing tutorial. When you do it you could use less pigment, making it lighter. It would also give you complete control over the shade of hair you have.

Definitely buy a short one first to get a feel for it. then if you want a longer one you should probably have enough experience with the short one to work with a long one. (I know from experience 😂)

Ive recently gotten diagnosed with Lupus and amongst the other issues it's caused it's causing my hair to fall out so I'm getting my first wig which was causing me alot of anxiety because i didn't know the first things about wigs at all. i considered lace fronts for a natural melted hairline but the install process looks so complicated so i decided against it for now. thank you for putting my anxiety to ease over the whole ordeal.

it shouldn't affect it. what you can do if you are natural and sometimes want to wear a wig is French braid your hair then after you're done wearing your wig and you want to wear your hair natural you'll have kinky curls or twists work the same way and the wig cap will keep your hair down.
+Ariane Louise That thing about baldness caused by wearing hats is fake, when I got my hair cut very short I started wearing hats and now I loose less hair than when I had longer hair and I didn't use hats ^^
+Ariane Louise Wearing a hat or even a wig can't cause any-type of problems. Unless you have some type of hair problem that make's your head very itchy which will make it hard for you to wig one. But if you are a beginner in wearing wigs, You should start with the short type of wigs than move your way up the charts of the wigs from short to medium to long to very long type of wigs. It really depends on the style of wig you want. If you are buying wigs off of ebay due to money issues with family. It's a good idea but you need to make sure those type of wigs will not fall apart on you. And Keep an eye on the condition of the wigs. I make sure that my wigs are stored in a place that no bugs or even some type of bad dirt to water will get in them. Make sure you keep the bags that you get with the wig. Because if you don't. That's causing more problems for you to handle. So if you are a beginner, slowly make your way up to the top. It took me four years to start making my way up to the top. Also if you have the same hair type as me. Of your hair being very long and it being so thick and thin that you need to make sure that some of the hair styles that you are doing to keep the wig down. Don't show up through the wig, because i had that problem two times during three of the anime cons i want too. So just a heads up.~
These videos are so helpful and clear! Recently I went to my first anime convention and I want to try out cosplay, but I didn't really know where to start or what to do. Your videos are really clear and easy to understand and your voice and way of talking are really nice to listen to (like, you know how to keep your viewers' attention :) )
one way i do it is shampooing the wig (carefully) then putting coconut oil in it for a bit before washing that out again, it gives it a natural shine and makes the wig super soft.
I've tried dry shampoo before and honestly I feel that baby powder does a MUCH better job. Putting "real hair" products on a synthetic wig messes it up so I wouldn't suggest using coconut oil or any other "real hair" products at all on synthetic fibres, if you want to make it soft or tame down frizz, you can use liquid fabric softener.
I put my wigs on the same way you do! Since I originally got longer wigs when I was younger, I just thought it was easier to style them when putting them behind you and adjusting them so. I remember someone telling me I was doing it wrong, just I never listened. This was a wonderful video, I'll definitely show this around cause some of my friends want to know how I put wigs on! xsiggix I wear wigs out and about. If you stick to one wig maybe for about 2+ weeks they probably won’t notice, also their opinions don’t matter. I class my wig along with my clothes for a bit to match ish. I also choose complimentary colors with my wig.
wearing wigs is absolutely fine! your friends' opinions dont matter. i understand what you mean and its valid- i wear wigs out all the time. if youre planning to do so, make it look believable. possibly invest in wigs with lace etc. i dont recommend wearing wigs for active things though for obvious reasons.
i own a few wigs (not the best quality but also not party wigs) and i was wondering how do you get used to wearing them visually? like i have blonde hair but i own a sailor moon cosplay wig, brown curly wig with bangs, short white wig and a purple long wig with bangs but whenever i wear them i feel as if it looks fake (and not like a wig fake) but as if it doesn't sit normally or as if its super obvious (especially the brown one) that it isn't my hair. in short, how do you get used to looking at yourself with completely different hair? i hope this makes sense.
if you wear them more often then you get more used to seeing yourself in that hair color or style. and filling in your eyebrows to match the color of the wig better might help.
+Tegan_Rose You can just store it in the bag it comes in (if it comes in a bag) with the hair net thing it comes with covering it. A lot of times people will just keep them in their clothing drawers like that :3

Wigs are so cool. I'm growing out a pixie and so I bought a cheap wig and it looks great. I'm afraid of wearing it out but I found a way to style it and make it look natural. I'm going to wear it every day from this week on so wish me luck!

It's to give you options for the colour and the length, you can have short blue hair on Tuesday but long white hair on Friday. Doing that to your natural hair isn't possible and would probably ruin it.

Wow! You actually put on the wig the same way I do and I was lead to believe that that was the "wrong" way to put on a wig, but with how thick my hair is it's always been impossible to put on a wig by flipping it over. Thank you for including that other method (putting it on from behind) because for those of us with thick and long hair, let me tell you, IT'S SO MUCH EASIER! You don't have to worry about you hair being pushed back out from the bottom of the wig caps which is the worst to deal with lol.
Me: has very very very long hair ( till my toes) see's ways to keep hair in wig cap and tries for like........ !!!10 HOURS!!! Me: cries for having long hair , cries that it does not work for me 😭😭 But on an important note : if you have short hair medium hair than this will work on you my best friend tried it ( she has medium hair...... like to her elbow) it did work on her so....... thank you for the video 😁😊
I have medium-lenght hair (mid-back lenght) but it's EXTREMALLY THICK and the only way I can wear wigs is to use two wig caps (first net then mesh) and put my hair under them without braiding or anything - I just tuck it under, making something like a hair-helmet ahaha :D When I braid it then the wig becomes lumpy (my braids are really THICK). And when I do multiple braids, they're too thick to fit my head lol, there's no space for them to pin them. So.... you should try 2-caps wig-helmet method too :D It could work!
Btw, with the snap/clips in the front that you can adjust, you can also take them and clip them under you’re next so you can flip you’re head and the wig won’t fall off :3

Do you have any tips on how to take the fakeness and shine out of a wig?
Use dry shampoo spray. it takes away the over the top shine and makes it appear more realistic. ^_^ Hope this helps!
one way i do it is shampooing the wig (carefully) then putting coconut oil in it for a bit before washing that out again, it gives it a natural shine and makes the wig super soft.

I've tried dry shampoo before and honestly I feel that baby powder does a MUCH better job.
Putting "real hair" products on a synthetic wig messes it up so I wouldn't suggest using coconut oil or any other "real hair" products at all on synthetic fibres, if you want to make it soft or tame down frizz, you can use liquid fabric softener.
I put my wigs on the same way you do! Since I originally got longer wigs when I was younger, I just thought it was easier to style them when putting them behind you and adjusting them so. I remember someone telling me I was doing it wrong, just I never listened. This was a wonderful video, I'll definitely show this around cause some of my friends want to know how I put wigs on! xsiggix I wear wigs out and about. If you stick to one wig maybe for about 2+ weeks they probably won’t notice, also their opinions don’t matter. I class my wig along with my clothes for a bit to match ish. I also choose complimentary colors with my wig.
wearing wigs is absolutely fine! your friends' opinions dont matter. i understand what you mean and its valid- i wear wigs out all the time. if youre planning to do so, make it look believable. possibly invest in wigs with lace etc. i dont recommend wearing wigs for active things though for obvious reasons.

i own a few wigs (not the best quality but also not party wigs) and i was wondering how do you get used to wearing them visually? like i have blonde hair but i own a sailor moon cosplay wig, brown curly wig with bangs, short white wig and a purple long wig with bangs but whenever i wear them i feel as if it looks fake (and not like a wig fake) but as if it doesn't sit normally or as if its super obvious (especially the brown one) that it isn't my hair. in short, how do you get used to looking at yourself with completely different hair? i hope this makes sense.
if you wear them more often then you get more used to seeing yourself in that hair color or style. and filling in your eyebrows to match the color of the wig better might help.
I think that confidence is key; just remember that you are fabulous no matter what ;)

+Tegan_Rose You can just store it in the bag it comes in (if it comes in a bag) with the hair net thing it comes with covering it. A lot of times people will just keep them in their clothing drawers like that :3

You could put it on a foam head that may stop it a bit. I've found though if it's a cheap wig it's jst inevitable that it'll be frizzy/messy :/

Wigs are so cool. I'm growing out a pixie and so I bought a cheap wig and it looks great. I'm afraid of wearing it out but I found a way to style it and make it look natural. I'm going to wear it every day from this week on so wish me luck!

Raven white a lot of netted / capped wigs have hooks that look like bra straps, mess around with the sizes and what you wanna do with it

It's to give you options for the colour and the length, you can have short blue hair on Tuesday but long white hair on Friday. Doing that to your natural hair isn't possible and would probably ruin it.

Wow! You actually put on the wig the same way I do and I was lead to believe that that was the "wrong" way to put on a wig, but with how thick my hair is it's always been impossible to put on a wig by flipping it over.
Thank you for including that other method (putting it on from behind) because for those of us with thick and long hair, let me tell you, IT'S SO MUCH EASIER! You don't have to worry about you hair being pushed back out from the bottom of the wig caps which is the worst to deal with lol.

I have medium-lenght hair (mid-back lenght) but it's EXTREMALLY THICK and the only way I can wear wigs is to use two wig caps (first net then mesh) and put my hair under them without braiding or anything - I just tuck it under, making something like a hair-helmet ahaha :D When I braid it then the wig becomes lumpy (my braids are really THICK). And when I do multiple braids, they're too thick to fit my head lol, there's no space for them to pin them. So.... you should try 2-caps wig-helmet method too :D It could work!
Btw, with the snap/clips in the front that you can adjust, you can also take them and clip them under you’re next so you can flip you’re head and the wig won’t fall off :3
