@@helloworld6622 You can do it. Sewing machines are a little like a car. It has a pedal and your steer the fabric like a steering wheel. At first it's like AUUUGH what? But if you set it to slow and spend maybe 20 minutes just getting comfortable it's very easy to get the hang of.
Tips for people with thick thighs: incase an elastic in the top hem that is tighter than you think you need it. Then run a bead of silicon around the inside of that seam (check to make sure it’s body safe- I’d use an aquarium grade silicone calking gun). The silicon adds extra grip and the elastic will keep the top from rolling down.
Hello, can yoi help me? Since mine is kept falling and i have like thick thighs, i try wearing a pantyhose it do the work, but still needs a better grip :c using it for 2b same with the stocking , keeps rolling.
@@Aki-we1lm Another great tip, if this not real shoes it'll work and that's the trick that Kinpatsu used for her Ahri Spirit Blossom cosplay, you can sew your shoes cover / stocking on a pair of ballerina tights ! (can't share how she have done tho because it's patreon exclusive so if you want the full tuto about this, check her store, the book are normally up in her store !)
Oh my goodness gracious someone who actually showed where to turn the knob on the machine AND ITS NOT ACTUALLY ATTACHED TO THE SHOE im tryna gather videos for how to make boots this is literally the best thing ever thank you so much big love to you thank you thank you thank you!❤💖💕
Hi!! I want to pop in to say that in my years of making boot covers for my cosplays, this tutorial is one of the easiest ones to follow! My boot covers now are better than before thanks to this tutorial! Thank you for creating this!
This is great advice, as cosplay shoes can sometimes be more expensive than the costume itself. Its also easier to work with I'd imagine. Take Suigintou from Rozen Maiden, her knee high boots a topped with ribbon and lace and I'd imagine that would be a pain to affix to real boots.
That's brilliant! I've seen the tape and plastic wrap thing for armor and body casts, but never for boots before. Definitely going to try this out for my star wars cosplays
I love this so much 😍 This is exactly what I need for my Sailor Mercury cosplay. It was a nightmare to paint those boots! And thank you for showing how to make the pattern too!
If you are having trouble with gluing shoe pads to the bottom of the shoes. I highly recommend Krazy Glue. Trust me, I try every glue in existence and this is really the only stuff that work.
Hi, just fyi, it looks like you have a singer heavy duty....u can use the blue elastic stich and dont have 2 use a zig zag. just a tip ❤️Great Tutorial and great explanation
I'm planning myself a cosplay for an geek event in my city and i dont really have enough money to buy the full cosplay so this is really helpful! The only thing i can't really diy nor buy (probably) is a wig but it's not a big deal
I found you on FB! Thank you for sharing this! My teen love cosplay but buying everything is so expensive! So, now I can nip her cosplay shoe addiction in the bud!
In my experience, placing wax paper on the presser foot side of your project when sewing on a machine will also help the fabric glide, it then just tears off as stitching through it perforates it nicely. Never tried Vaseline, but I might give that a go!
Thank you for making this video! As a very skinny girl (not bragging, I've always struggled to gain weight unfortunately) I've never been able to purchase thigh high boots as they never fit! This is the solution I've been YEARS for!
Another great method for sewing vinyl is to pin/clip a thin strip of parchment paper over where you want the seam to be. I prefer this method to using moisturizer or Vaseline because it doesn't get anything inside the machine that could mess it up. :)
I was literally just now worrying about how to handle the boots for a cosplay I'm working on - but this video shows it's a LOT easier than I thought. Absolutely amazing and informative, thank you so much! And your Jessie cosplay is absolutely amazing!
This video was soooo helpful i am a cosplayer but idk if ill ever make this i sew doll clothing and was looking for a pattern that might turn a dolls high heals into boots with out loosing the original pair of shoes this helped me alot
This tutorial is really good! I love the suggestion to not put duct tape on the knee first so you can still bend it. I also never heard of using a lubricant on any fabric XD
If the sole of your shoe is very smooth you can put double sided sticky tape to the sole of the shoe so the cover sticks. It can be removes easily but it makes the boots a lot more secure!
I remember the day I made my thigh high boots. I found an old pair of knee high boots with the synthetic leather already flaking off, but the soles are still great to this day. Since I can't typically use it in the usual tropical weather, rather than throw it, why not repurpose? I had some (nice) fake leather stashed and used similar techniques on the pattern making. I then had to glue and sew the (nice) leather since I thought I wouldn't use it to any other cosplay (I don't cosplay a lot soooo...). Plus it looked like generic simply baggy-ish black leather boots, although not as neat as this. Proud of it. Need to find that pleather material coz this video reminded me of an old pair of pumps that had its synthetic leather already flaked but kinda wanting (and hoping) to use it... xD
Me: casually makes these for every day wear
i wish i could but sewing machines scare me
This is a goths dream tutorial

@@kattykit139 I wanna make mine in pink 😍
You are a cosplay Wizard, they look so clean!
I don't cosplay but this is a cool alternative to buying thigh high boots. Might give it a go someday :DDD
Same! I can't find affordable thigh high boots. Might give this a try
TRUUE. That’s what i was thinking
Righttt? So coool
I was already wondering if it was even possible to walk around in boot covers without slipping! Those shoe grips are very clever!
You also can use Velcro on the sides to leave the bottom exposed if you need for different types of shoes or cover looks
@@Sundropz yeah I've seen mostly a lil elastic accross the bottom. :)
Give that cat a raise, he deserves it for all the help he didn't provide.
I always wondered how these custom boots were made, if they were bought that way. I loved the tutorial! continue with your amazing work 🥰🥰🥰
Same!

You can also make invisible dance shorts out of power mesh and just stitch the tops of the boots to your pants :3
IM A DRAG QUEEN AND THIS GOT ME SO EXCITED ABOUT THE POSSIBILITIES OMG
I seriously never knew boot covers could be that simple, this is going to save me from owning soooo many pairs of cosplay shoes :')
I had been kind of panicking over what to do for boots for a 2B cosplay, this tutorial has literally saved my life. Totally using this tutorial!
Same, I just found a pair of pretty pointy toe heels that should be great for this!

Looking forward to use it with my sailor moon boots
Best of luck!
Hand cream (that cheap ones that we never use xD) also helps the fabric to slide trough the machine!
Specially if you happen to be sewing leather, hand cream makes wonders to help!

Tip: clipping curves helps make the toes nice and smooth!
the way you explain things is so concise but makes me believe in myself! thank you!
This tutorial is awesome. I haven't sewn in years and you made this so easy. I'll be making two different pairs of boots
Wow its a look💜! I don't cosplay but definitely going to do this just for the fashion.
I’m not even into cosplay but this is so cool and now I want to make boot cover just to wear around my house 🤣👏👏👏
i'm genuinely so bad at crafts and these actually came out really cute thank UUUUUUU

This is was wonderful. I made boot covers by wrapping the fabric around my leg to make my pattern, but I will give this method a try!
I’m not a cosplayer, however I am fascinated.
Very inventive!! I will definitely be using this method for a costume. Thank you!
