0:46 My mind is actually blown. Never once did I consider strategically crashing head-on into the barriers to quickly sail around those sharp turns. Mad respect.
0:22 I love how the strat for these turns is just to not turn. "Just faceplant the wall at full speed, trust me, it'll be fine." I don't know any other racing games off the top of my head where you could pull that stunt and have it actually be faster.
@@thelaibon As someone who was top 20 on the leaderboard back in the day, I would argue that the two hairpin turns followed by the snake in PT2 were nowhere near as bad as dealing with the traffic in either of DW2 or FF.
@@17Delirious Here's a thing to say about the 5th rank Purple car i was talking about (infact, there's also Green ones and some other Purple ones as well but they are simply clones only in 2 color variants), in the video. Edward was fast enough to not only see but also overlap the 5th place Purple car during the final lap of the track, normally Brown and Bomb cars drive at like 220 KM/H aprox during the 2nd to 5th laps (meaning they're from 20th to 6th rank accordingly), the Purple car from 5th place was driving at regular top rank CPU speeds (400+ KM/H), it may sound rare to find it but, try doing Death Wind 1 with Fire Stingray at Beginner in GP and find out (or just drop to 5th in any race and class)
My ass playing this for the first time: “How tf am I supposed to make these turns without hitting the walls??” This guy: “that’s the neat part. You *dont* “
Brings back memories of being stoned to the gills and playing f zero, be over 30 years ago now, great times, would rent the system and game from local Deli abd play flat out
I usually brake right after hitting the risky speed boosts - this slows me down enough to not have a ridiculous speed in those sections, while at the same time giving me a brief speed increase that makes a significant difference. Of course, this is even more useful when you move very slowly.
Absolutely ducking amazing dude!!!!!!!! I am soooooo going to try this;) death wind II was my nemesis for a little while, but now I see the light:) kick ass dude
LMAO.... i love the wild bounces off the wall. I honestly try not to hit those arrows. When i do i just pinball through lol. Very well played. Im going to have to try that. Dude i would love to see some "honest times" like just you. No comp to boost off of and no bouncing off the walls or cheating jumps. I think those would be epic. I would like to go up against those time. By the way excellent driving
I usually brake the car right after driving over the trickier speed boosts at all the twists and turns, this gives me some temporary extra speed while at the same time slowing me down enough to actually be able to control the car.
Man, huge sub on this run. How many tries did this take? Looks like you could get at least another 0.25 second off after you get this strat down solid.
I don't know if there's any effect at all. I don't think it slows you, possibly it reduces rate of acceleration if you aren't already at top speed. Or not.
This stage is almost impossible on Master difficulty if you have the Golden Fox, because that thing is always slower than everyone else and gets extremely brief speed increases from the boosters. And I am saying this as someone who has beaten "Fire Field" multiple times on Master difficulty with all vehicles, so I am serious about that.

That was incredible. That double wall bounce, and you avoided every obstacle like a machine.
He is driving a machine so that does make sense.

It is dangerous to go for a drive irl after playing this track ^^
Slamming your face into the wall to go faster is an F Zero staple. X and GX both have huge speed gains by driving into the rails.
@@GawainSSB Yeah, but kind of. You need to make special techniques, you don't really make speed by whomping into them like nothing.
@@Shrek_es_mi_pastor True enough yeah. But things like rail slides aren't too technical, or bumping during drifts to get a boost. In X that is.
Hmm, does Mario Kart Super Circut count? I've seen players hitting the wall to get extra speed from boost plates.
And that yellow racer would be programmed to be right behind you the whole time.
In my opinion this track is harder than Fire Field. Here are my top 3 hardest tracks:
1. Death Wind II
2. Fire Field
3. Port Town II
I agree with those 3. I might rearrange it - Port Town II, Death Wind II, and Fire Field 3rd toughest.
The name Death Wind doesn't lie. The wind is deadly

fuck port town ll
Port town 2 is not as terrible if you have some skill.
Withe land 2 can be hard, especially when you are near the big whole.
Before learning English, as a kid I used to think this level's gimmick was that the electric bumpers were magnetic.
This is gonna be wild in F-Zero 99
1:59 hey look, its a purple car being overlapped by the Fire Stingray
I don't get this comment but I still like it lol

Imagine literally being able to teleport and still be lapped
I'm driving through Arizona right now and this is exactly how it feels

"Are you crazy? Don't go between them!"
"Go between them! Are you crazy?"
First thing I thought of was your comment on the triple video about thinking sub 1:50 was possible using that strat. Absolutely amazing.
Watching this gameplay reminds me of when I last played FZero as a kid. Death Wind II and III was very challenging.
...What do you mean with "Death Wind III"
@@kamilslup7743 Death Wind II and III had different course direction and tougher opponents
Oh god this track is going to murder people in f zero 99
Congratulations, a job well done! Glad to see your work paid off :)
I remember when I first played this track with the Yellow car and blew up to soon! I loved how the plains moved and it looked like it was moving!

Congrats, man
The legend became true, well done.

Average player: There's no effective way to use the boost in Death Wind.
Speed runner: Watch me bro!!
Even I knew about that. But what really catches my attention is how he taps the gas to get the most mini speed boosts out of each boost. Just crazy.

unbelievable...
Congrats on pulling off this difficult strat
That stingray is on FIRE!
interesting approach
damn those wall bounces are sick
Awesome time Edward!
This track is where all of my games ended.
What are those things on the side of the road are those like bumpers or bubbles?
You absolute madman. Great run, i'll see if this can help me a bit.

PERFECT
Masterclass!!!
hey just got into f-zero is there a community?
When you realize you don’t really drive your car, you’re just steering the track itself…
This track is the true Final Boss imo. Way harder than Fire Field!
Woah
Goodness me 🤯🤯🤯
Es Nintendo o sega ?
Nintendo
This circuit is more difficult with the yellow car because opponents are faster than you
Does getting shocked by the edges of the map not decrease your speed?
Of course. But as you can see, the boost cancels out that penalty.
Does it negate it altogether, or still slow u down during the boost?
I don't know if there's any effect at all. I don't think it slows you, possibly it reduces rate of acceleration if you aren't already at top speed. Or not.
Amazing seeing how Nintendo screwed up the way the AI physic engine is.
What?
I could see F-zero making a comeback if Nintendo made a global leaderboard, and add regional competitions. J.s.
They sort of did with F-Zero 99, Battle Royale style but more races will be added later
I can’t beat this 😭
