You're playing the lore of Pico (Wild Goose) very well. The lore is everyone hated him that F-Zero had to be delayed after causing a massive accident due to his reckless and aggressive driving. His fans was P'ed off and stopped supporting him. Pico didn't care. After race officials fix the problems Pico caused, F-Zero got the green light to compete once again and F-Zero GX followed.
Wasn't it F-Zero X that followed? I remember reading that lore in X, and some of the characters had ties to the accident like Mighty Gazelle and Blood Falcon.

In snes F zero rules, the grand prix rules doesnt encourage dangerous driving putting other drivers at risk. Pico on the other hand didnt care. Hes mind is for the money to achieve his goals at that time. So he broke the golden rule and cause a huge incident. It caused fans of pico to turn on him as his actions caused the grand prix to be cancled until further notice. 3 years later, the grand prix was ready for business and F Zero X starts here. (This part is conjecture on my part so take it with a grain of salt) During the 3 year hiatus, F zero officials recieved word the chaos actually was favored by fans and wanted more. More fans came, more sponsorships showed up with huge sums of money ready to pay. It was an offer F zero cant refuse. F Zero officials laxed the aggression rule and allowed it. This resulted in F Zero X introducing the spin attack and side ramming. This continued to GX/AX time frame. Now as for F zero 99, i think this part isnt canon.its more like a "what if" scenario. The only thing happening here is the uploader is playing the part Pico did. I think thats pretty cool.

My plan was to let people pass me and then go kill myself so that someone could get a trophy/badge that they might not have had. One of my rivals for that race was dead so I knew I wasn't going to lose any rank. But I guess I wasn't paying attention to the minimap and didn't realize a red would shoot me over the line. :D
I’m at the point where in regular 99 and Pro Track races I can consistently place top 10 But during GP races all the no life guys seem to come out of the woodwork and make it nearly impossible for me to take 1st overall I’m trying to unlock the gold skin for Wild Goose it’s the only one I have left 😭
What i am seeing is that you are not just racing but also fighting at the same time. Building your power allows you to use your speed efficiently and endure for other races
Keep it on the hush hush, let go of gas on right turns and just hold the L or R trigger to hug the turn. If you're playing stingray, quickly tap B constantly during the drift. It'll help maintain speed but you have to press b fast to keep a tight traction.
I find most people who don't do well misunderstand how racing lines work, and often try too hard to take the inside turns, which is a terrible idea most of the time. So try to start your turns way earlier than you think so you don't have to let off on the gas as much and you can avoid hitting the outside wall. If that isn't your problem, them I'm not sure! GrandPOOBear is a really good player, so you can watch his vids and try to imitate how he takes the racing lines.
It definitely plays different than any other racing game. Including other "f-zero likes". Think of turning in more of a zero-friction way where you let go of the gas then gas again to boost strait forwards out of a turn.
One thing should notice in the first clip is that he retains the momentum from the boost pad when the skyway ends at the same time he hits it, this has happen to me multiple times and fuck my runs most of the time.

You don’t even have to tap B. Just letting go once and then holding it again is enough for the stingray to make basically any turn.
