READ BEFORE DOING: Do not install the boot.firm in this video! it is no longer needed as of 2 months ago if you did replace your boot.firm and bricked your 3DS don't worry just replace that boot.firm file with a original one and your 3ds will work again!

Skip using the boot.firm from the video. The latest version of Luma3DS supports this functionality.

This is nifty, but a shame that the quality and framerate take such a hit. I experimented with NTR a few years ago before caving and buying a 3DS capture card for better quality.
The reason DS games don't work is because the 3DS's OS basically unloads when you boot an old DS game, DSiWare, or official GBA games from the Ambassador Program. Basically, if you can't get into the home menu, NTR is unloaded.
where did you buy the 3ds capture card?
@@eucomosushi I got it from Meirki back in 2019, they found a box full of them in storage and sold them all off. Buying the kit, a new console for it, and getting it installed and shipped cost me around $500 total but it was well worth it for me.

does this work with luma v12? I was not able to use the version of Luma linked in the video. When I used the newest version of luma the NTR app on 3ds failed to load 3.6 (or any of the others) stating luna was not installed.

Blaine, great video. I think it would be beneficial for you and your viewers if you make a video covering the program NSUI (New Super Ultimate Injector). It allows you to inject your legally obtained NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, Master System, Game Gear and Genesis ROMS into either Nintendo's official emulators or other ones such as mgba and retroarch. These games require a bit of customization from the user, such as uploading your own images for the games (the program originally connected to an image database and pulled images automatically, but it has since gone down and no longer works), but they are added directly to the home menu and depending on the user's effort they can look quite official, and they run well. Old 3ds can also do it in a slightly more limited degree, I've experienced lag in a handful of games such as Batman89 for Sega Genesis and Yoshi's Island for SNES (there's a GBA version of it that works). I highly recommend covering it, it was a gamechanger for my 3DS and removes the need for opening an emulator app and finding your ROM each time you wish to play, adding individual games like Super Mario World and Sonic 3 directly to the home menu is extremely convenient, it is a dramatic upgrade for the 3DS overall.
Yes, a video on this. The majority of people on UA-cam do not make tutorials as extensive and patiently as him. So this would be a must watch
@xan killa I hope he does. I agree with you, I think video tutorials are usually sketchy since they go outdated quickly, but Blaine is different and has always stayed on top of the updates and pumps out great, easily understood content. NSUI can be a somewhat intricate program but I think he would do a better job of explaining it simply than other YT'ers would. I would also love to see him cover custom theme creation.
I did everything in the video, & up until I reached the point where I was ready to stream my DS, it keeps saying on my laptop could not start remoteplay on the (N)3DS, even after the first time. I’m using an original 3DS, any help will be greatly appreciated
i believe this method is only functional on the (NEW)3DS models

@ClashBaseDeveloper apparently it only works for *new* 3ds, the one with the tiny joy stick. I never got mine to work andni have read things from other people saying they used the older 3ds and had it working but I'm sure they lied or did somenother method
you do great videos but every time I try to install the luma3GX it says there an exception occurred and then shuts down the system and I don't know what to do.

@@blainelocklair hey blaine the updated luma file doesnt work for me i copied the file over and after that my new 3ds didnt want to boot up anymore so i had to replace it with the old files after doing that the 3ds seemed to run fine i installed ntr cfw and loaded it up but after tapping on 3.6 it said an error ocurred so do you know how to fix this?
If you have a Wii U, there’s an NTR mod for it that will allow you to stream both 3DS screens to your tv and gamepad respectively as well as allow you to control the games with the gamepad. The only thing is sound still won’t stream so the audio will still be coming from your 3DS as it does here. And also there will be some lag or latency between the 3DS and Wii U which can make it hard to use the Wii U for controls depending on the game. Personally I think just streaming one or both screens from 3DS to PC is probably still the best way.

The link provided for luma 3DS GX isn't correct and takes you to an older version I didn't install it as I wanted to stay safe with my 3ds. The version seen in the video is 12.0.1( 1:20 Timestamp ) and when you click the link it takes you to a Beta of 10.2

Yeah
You can also click the esc Button to close snickerstream directly.
But there is a nother Button that is just closing the stream and you go back to the settings where you can connect again. But I forgot wich key it was.
You can remap the buttons in "Advanced" and then "Remap Hotkeys". Now just click the button you want to change when you see the buttons name. Next to the "Remap Hotkeys" button.
I thought I could finally enjoy my 3DS games on the TV but I don't have a PC. So my 3ds is already modded but aren't there other methods with the cell phone or something?
I followed this guide and something didn't quite work, got that one 'exception occurred' message, but after updating to the NOW latest Luma version everything works as shown in the video
However, I'm still not sure how to stream audio to my computer when in snickerstream, anyone know how to do it?
Thanks to the updates to Luma3DS the boot.firm file is not needed. Afaik audio is not possible to stream from the 3DS, but hopefully it's figured out in the future. 3.5mm capture is the only option for right now.

Seems like the 3rd link, "Luma3DS GX" is wrong and takes you to a 3 year old link and that boot.firm crashes your ds. You can just copy the url in the video and still get to the right link but the one in the description is wrong.
This. I bricked my ds 3 times cause of the wrong firmware but this comment was the solution

Yes. Since the process requires SnickerStream, which has to be run on the PC and cannot be run on a TV, you'd have to run the program on the PC, then HDMI screen mirror (or extension) from the PC to the TV.

I tried streaming my old 3DS XL to Snickerstream and it says: “Could Not Start Remoteplay on the (N)3DS.” I have the correct files, but it’s still not working. Any tips to fix this?
I believe this only works on the “new” 3ds models as it is to much for the old models 😊

I get some weird menu after copying the boot.firm from the download link. I hit start to save then would get boot errors. I had to replace the old boot.firm to boot my 3ds again.

Really easy to follow Tutorial but after I dropped the updated luma3Ds and put the SD card into my systemI got an error message, I sadly dont know what any of it means tho, please help me.
Is all you can do dump some files? If so, put your sd card into your computer, navigate to the original mod files that you used when you first modded the system, (not the one already on your sd card, and not the one downloaded for the video tutorial) and look for the boot.firm file. Replace the boot.firm in your sd card with the boot.firm file you had before you started the tutorial. Once the sd card is plugged into your ds, hold down the select button, and press the power button. This should bring to a menu. If it says save and exit at the bottom, press + twice. Your system will freeze for a second before powering off. Wait a few seconds, and your ds should be working again with the modded content you had beforehand. It won't install any of the 3ds casting software though.

PC or TV but just mentions PC followed it to a tee and had to use external information to get past errors because the links are wrong and the program itself just crashes the moment you try anything outside of the home screen 0/10

I will still say that the 3ds capture card is since you get the highest quality but ntr streaming Is definitely a close second but then again emulators are a thing but sometimes they don't work

Depends on what data you want to transfer, but you can just mod unmodded 3ds, and then replace sd card and or copy and replace the Nintendo 3ds folder over making sure you delete old one so number matches the modded 3ds to retain all data, assuming unmodded is fresh with nothing of importantance to lose. In end you’ll end up with 2 identical modded 3ds. If you want specific game data, you can just copy from sd cards.

no. if you want to stream a ds otherwise, you have to install a capture card into it to connect to your computer, but not the tv unless you cast from the pc

You replaced the boot.firm file from this video which is what broke it, replace that with the boot.firm file you had or get a new one

Sadly the boot thing messes up my new 2ds Dx it would give me an error and would shut down the game. Gonna wait till there is another update but thx anyways for the video

Just an update, I don't think this works right now after the recent Nintendo update. Just got the ARM11 error upon booting my system.

@54356776 I'm not. Between the release of this video and the day I modded my 3ds, there was a nintendo update that made this mod not work.
I just did this on my New 3DS XL and right after I replaced the boot file and safely ejected the microSD and placed it back in my 3DS, I get an error screen and can't boot my 3DS anymore...
It says: "An exception occurred" and then it's got a bunch of information about the Processor, exception type, current process, and stack dump. I can either save the crash dump or shutdown. If I save the crash dump, all I can do is shutdown...
Happens to me too, I change the boot.firm back to the one that I had before, and everything is working again.
Still i do not know how to make it work from the boom.firm of the video .

@@pierremontero5015 The boot.firm from the video is obsolete and not required if you are using the most up to date version of Luma3DS
While this is alright enough for recording footage - the 3ds' 2.1mb/s wifi speed limit makes this very finicky and laggy at times. I looked up some custom settings from GBA Temp and played around with the settings for better quality and FPS, I managed to record with around +10fps average after some tweaking. Priority Factor 2, Image Quality 80, and QoS value 100 seemed to be the best I could get, but it lags based on the internet's up and down limits on the systems hardware.
Still having a hard time maintaing 30, and rare peaks to 60fps dont last long.
adding that boot dot firm is making my 2DS crash over and over again.
You have to remove it, and replace it with the old one. It is no longer necessary for this tutorial

Essentially by using your tv as a monitor via hdmi or screen mirroring/casting.
Didn't work for me. Already different links that what the video shows despite following the links and replacing the boot.firm file killed my 3DS.

ANSWER: Everything worked the first time, then the second time it wouldn't cast my screen. All I had to do to fix it is repeat what I did in NTR CFW and then put in the IP address like normal. So every time u want to cast, u need to go into NTR CFW and repeat that process.
So after following your new simple jailbreak guide video yesterday and everything working great, now after doing this and replacing the luma files in my sd root, now every time i start my DS i get "An exception occurred" crash and my ds won't start now. Any fix to this?
hopefully you didn't give up on your console, as of now there's an update to Luma itself, you download that ''boot'' file and then replace it on the root of your SD card, it should work

I finally figured it out, it had to do with the firewall settings on my computer. It was a couple weeks ago, I can’t quite remember what I did, but I had to go into the windows firewall options and search particular programs to soften the protection on.

It's optional. You can put them wherever you'd like on your SD / microSD card and they'll run fine, as long as you navigate to them in FBI and install them.

The boot.firm in the video is obsolete and no longer required. As long as you have your original boot.firm working (it sounds like you already did this) just continue with the rest of the tutorial (installing the .cia and Snickerstream) and it should work fine.

Absolutely, as the PC is the bridge between the 2DS / 3DS and any TV with HDMI support. Just run the HDMI out of your PC to your TV or PC Monitor and you're golden.
