Actually that old Magnums 5.2 & 5.9 are getting popular those and LS motors they seem to be tougher then 5.7 hemi also much cheaper to work on and repair
Any .7 Mopar is substandard. 2.7 in my wife's Intrepid shit out at 53K. 3.7 and 4.7 in trucks have valve seats that fall out and followers that fall off. Hemi"s 5.7 lots of issues there as well. FCA = Freaking Crap Automobiles...couldn't give me one today. Mopar died when the last Magnum was built in my opinion. The 5.2 was in my thinking the most underrated v-8 in US auto history . I love those little guys. Mod the kegger, port match the heads intake, 4 hole injectors and small tube headers into a high flow cat,,,amazing what they put out. Keep your hands off my 97 Dak with a 5.2 and 5 speed. LOL
I have a 1998 Dodge Ram Van with 200 k miles , I have changed the oil every 2 k miles with a new filter, how many miles do u think I can get out of this engine if I baby it
A lot, probably around 250,000 to 300,000 miles if you keep maintaining it the way you are and changing the oil early. I do the same, but even before 2,000 miles because I beat the shit out of my Jeeps.
The 5.9 is more reliable due to the fact that it is a sealed original engine with stock bottom end, stock heads, and stock cam. This set up is more on the mild side which keeps it as usable as possible and is better for daily driving.
The 5.2 and the 5.9 are both faster in the Jeeps. The Jeeps are a lot lighter than the Dodge Rams and it depends on 4WD or RWD. All V8 ZJs came with 4WD unless you opted for a 2WD V8 ZJ which has no transfer case and a I-Beam dead axle up front. Also, the 5.9 in the ZJ requires 93 octane from the factory because it has a more aggressive tune with more advanced timing for the higher octane fuel. The Rams as well as a stock 5.2 ZJ can run on 87 octane from the factory, the 5.9 ZJ and the Dodge Dakota R/T are the fastest vehicles with a V8 Magnum.
leakyjeep5.9 I ordered the SCT tuner from Hughes Engines after I filled out a form with all of the modifications and a tune was loaded on the tuner when I got it.
@@5.9manualzj That’s awesome, I need a higher stall converter in my heads/cam 5.2 ZJ. The shop who built my engine (DG Motors) had a 96 5.2 ZJ with an NV3500 swap and an NP242. I was in it a few times, it was really cool.
@@98ZJ318 Badass! I follow DG motors and was going to use his old exhaust setup for mine. My NV3500 is the correct one to fit looking stock in this Jeep, so the shift tower fits like stock. His was using a Z bar and a lot of cutting, but still looked okay, and tbh had better gear ranges than mine does with the "NV3500HD" style one. But I like the granny low for offroad stuff. You barely notice how low the gearing is with the 5.9 when you get on it.

I want to hear them run bud!!😊
Do you get any more power by doing A/C delete? Or does it just reduce weight and free up space in the engine bay?
It just reduces weight, frees up space in the engine bay, and a 7.5" shorter belt is used.
Awesome
Thanks brother
both are great engines thats for sure
That's a proven fact
Thanks for sharing youre jeeps !!
How do i know i have a 5.9 the sticker on the rad support says 5.9 but i herd the truck was repainted
About how much power do you think your 5.2 jeep is making?
Estimated 360 - 380 crank HP, 300 - 320 wheel HP.

Is the conectors the same ?or they change?

Do you think a 4.0 i6 zj has potential
Without a stroker kit, a supercharger, or a turbocharger ? No.
The 4.0 inline 6 is well known to be one of the indestructible engines and you can subject them to all kinds of hell and they’ll be fine.
Which one is faster
The heads/cam 5.2 ZJ by far
Do these perform like they do with the rams? Or is there a difference with the jeeps

Do you know where I can find a radiator cool can for a 98 5.9
Radiator cooling fan ? Try SummitRacing or Jegs. The factory 5.9 electric fan is hard to find and expensive if you do find one.
A two speed mark8 fan works well also. 98ish. 9027 motor with that.
How much power is your 5.9 putting out, rough guess?
I would say it probably makes close to 300 wheel hp when the cutout is open and 280 wheel hp with it closed.
Did all that nice stuff to the 5.9 and then put champion plugs in it. Smh...lol
My 5.3 easily gapped a 5.9 magnum
How did you tune it?
SCT X3 Tuner
Did you use Flyin Ryan or hemifever?

too bad theyre both automatics
Fully agree with you
@@98ZJ318 My 5.9 is stock asf and has a sloppy exhaust leak and still hasn't lost a stoplight drag just because of the torque converter delete
