@@NZBigfoot Man Bites Dog(French: C'est Arrivé Près De Chez Vous - 1992, and the best translation would be: "It Happened Next Door") this movie was done around 20 years sooner without vampires, werewolves or zombies but i think the impact was similar or even better. As far as vampire lore tied to christian mythos, a common tale is that Caine (eldest son of Adam and Eve) was the first vampire (as a punishment for murdering his brother and lying to god). Depending on how far back you want to believe the story goes, Caine would be between 10,000 and 300,000 years old.
Hey, guys. The film is great. I could not imagine how a television series with new actors and characters could possibly be good. But the series is even better. You two would love it.
The TV series is not an adaptation of the film but sort of a spin off set in Staten Island. They also include an Energy vampire that drains people's energy by boring them to death.
The spinoff TV shows, What We Do In The Shadows (mockumentary following a different bunch of vampires), and, Wellington Paranormal (mockumentary following the cops from this movie), are absolutely fantastic!
8000 years ago is earlier than Egypt, it would be Neolithic times or the very early Copper Age - so people were farming but mostly still using stone tools. So Peter is definitely an old Vampire.

the earliest literary references of vampires (not with that name, of course) are approximately from 1100 B.C in Russia, so the name Petyr and his age make the most sense for an old vampire

This movie is absolute genius. Such a perfect pairing of characters. So this movie spawned two hilarious spinoffs. The TV show by the same name, which basically continues the story but with a different yet just as funny cast of vamps. The second show is called "Wellington Paranormal" which is also documentary style, but in it a camera crew follows around the two cops that we meet in this movie as they investigate paranormal happening similar to their visit to this house of vampires. Those two actors that play the constables are hilarious together.
The whole no reflections thing comes from mirrors in the old world having backings made of silver (one of their weaknesses), which now they do not. So vampires these days would have reflections, hence you'd never know.
One of the greatest movies ever. The TV series expands on it brilliantly (and has some great cameos). Each character represents a different style of vampire from all through the years. Viago = Ann Rice novels, Vlad = literal Dracula (specifically Copola movie), Deacon = Lost Boys or Near Dark, Peter = Maybe Nosferatu but I liken him to more Salem's Lot.
If you guys are in a vampire mood, have you watched "Near Dark"? It's a different look at vampires in the modern day (well, the 80s) starring some of our favorite people from the film "Aliens". It's all about 'found family', but with vampires. Directed by an Academy Award winner (but not for this film).
The TV show is absolutely worth the watch. It is hilarious! It takes place in the same continuity as the movie but instead of following the New Zealand vamps from the movie, it follows a group of vamps in New York but they're all also old European vampires. The show is great. Please react to it!

The dark bidding on the internet is such an underrated goof
The second spin off tv series from this movie and series "Wellington Paranormal" is also well worth the watch.
I’m so glad you guys did this one! Legitimately my favorite movie of all time
This isn't the funniest movie, but I will always recommend someone watch it. The concept is so fun and unique; it's a must-see.
Also, points for Man Bites Dog. I watched that on a whim a few years ago. I had never seen anything like it.
There's a mockumentery called "Colin" - it follows a typical day in the life of a Zombie, called Colin.
I liked the part where they discuss if they could become vampires would they and they had a serious discussion about their kids. Liked that the mom would prefer heaven with her husband and kids than eternal life as vampires.
Amazing! You guys were just nailing the predictions in this.
NOW, YOU GOTTA WATCH THE SERIES!!!! ITS FRIGGING HILARIOUS😂😂😂😂😂👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤MOCKUMENTARY IS GREAT!!!
