    Flour is actually highly flammable, flour dust hanging in the air will explode if ignited ! so the windmill exploding is pretty accurate.

      @NefariousKoel Місяць тому +17

      Sugar dust is the same. Probably even more so since it has more caloric energy per part. I recall at least one processing plant blowing up from the accumulated dust + an accidental spark or flame.

      Almost anything airborne in small enough particles is an explosion hazard. I work in snack food manufacturing and we go through training regarding combustible dusts every year.

      You can put some flour in your mouth and blow it out over a lighter to create large flame. It is safe if you don't inhale.

    Johnny Depp adopted Goldeneye, the horse that played Gunpowder, Ichabod Crane's horse in this film, when he heard it was going to be put down. And did all of his own stunts for the final scene where he is dragged by the horse. He had bullet-proof clothing underneath his wardrobe.

  • @lurkerrekrul

    In the original story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Ichabod Crane is an awkward school teacher who is basically scared of his own shadow. He has a crush on Katrina Van Tassel, but also wants her money. Brom Bones is also in love with Katrina, so he uses the story of the Headless Horseman to scare Ichabod. Legend has it that the horseman was a soldier who had his head shot off by a cannonball. Also, there's a bridge that he's rumored not to be able to cross. One night, Ichabod is chased by the Headless Horseman, he makes it across the bridge, but when he looks back, he sees the horseman throw his head at him. Ichabod is never seen around that area again, and at the bridge, they find a shattered pumpkin. It's strongly implied that Brom was pretending to be the horseman to scare Ichabod away so he could have Katrina all to himself.

    Interesting facts about Sleepy Hollow (1999) (1) Johnny Depp adopted Goldeneye, the horse that played Gunpowder, Ichabod Crane's horse in this film, when he heard it was going to be put down. (2) Johnny Depp initially found the idea of Christina Ricci being his love interest in this film to be rather odd, seeing as he's known her since she was nine years old. They first met on the set of Mermaids (1990), as Depp was dating Winona Ryder at the time. (3) Johnny Depp says that he has never seen most of his own movies. In this case, he avoids the film because he hates the way he acts in it. (4) (At around 57 minutes) At the start of filming the three-way axe battle with Ray Park, Johnny Depp, and Casper Van Dien, Van Dien broke the index finger of his left hand. Although it was extremely painful, he carried on without telling anyone, as he didn't want his part cut short. (5) Christina Ricci revealed on The Rosie O'Donnell Show (1996) that Christopher Walken was very shy and quiet so the other cast members had a competition over who could get him to say the most words. Miranda Richardson won by making him answer lots of questions.

    " they filmed it in reverse", i too love the idea that they filmed that scene by having Christopher Walken remove his literal head, filmed it, then reversed the footage so it would be more believable and realistic...cause if we saw Walken literally reclaiming his missing head, people wouldn't find it believable
    this is how to film an adaptation as well as a remake...there is just enough of the book and cartoon, a good amount of references without being excessive, and enough original story, approved by fans of both sources, not just a straight up remake, and with enough originality to be it's own story and stand on it's own merit

    The "iron maiden" was the inquisition device that we see here. It´s also a very cool group.

    Not Voncent Price - it was Martin Landau - superb actor, he was in North by North West, big part in the TV Mission: Impossibe series and I fondly remember him as John Koenig, leader of Moonbase Alpha in the Sci-Fi series Space:1999

    What caused the explosion... when flour is hanging as dust in the air it will explode if flame is applied, especially in an enclosed space. It's due to large surface area being available to ignite and can happen with many powders.

    The horsemen was played by Ray Park when he doesn't have his head. He even does his spinning lightsaber trick.

    One of my favorite adaptations of the story.
    There was also a made for TV movie called "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" (1980) starring Jeff Goldblum as Ichabod Crane, Meg Foster as Katrina Van Tassel, and Dick Butkus as Brom Bones.
    Saw it when I was a kid and it was pretty creepy for the time.
    Saw it again recently and it's still quite good, considering it's made for TV budget.
    It's available on UA-cam for anyone interested.
