As someone who’s watched both. Both are great in their own ways. If you’re going into the TV show, don’t think of it as the movie. The movie has its own thing. So does the show. That being said, I personally love the show. It’s fun and keeps the charm of a mockumentry and the characters aren’t just carbon copies of these characters. These characters are just their own thing. So I’m glad they weren’t copied by the show. Jemaine Clement and Taika were involved (Taika not so much due to other protects). Again, this is just my opinion. So, I’d say. Give it a chance before completely writing it off. It isn’t trying to be the movie and it shouldn’t try and be the movie. My dad, who loves this movie and introduced me to it, also enjoys the tv show. Like I said, give the first few episodes a chance. If you don’t enjoy it then that’s cool. I think give it a chance.
I came from the series to watch this movie and I have to say the series did it WAY BETTER. SPOILER: There are a few times Viago and Vlad appear on the show.
