@MustermannFM Hi, I have experimented with statistics in FM for a while now, and wanted to comment on your scoring and weightings of players (minutes 22-23 in the video). By using the editor, I have collected the league reputation scores for all the leagues down to Serie C or equivalent. These numbers have helped me to weight the scores I give to players (in a similar manner to you), by dividing the scouted player's league rating with the rating of the league I am playing in. Notify me if you want me to share that information. For the scoring I have used Stag's baseline numbers for stats and standardized values across performace metrics to make an aggregated score for their statistical output, in order to quickly narrow down the best players. In true moneyball-fashion, I have also added a metric where their wage is divided with the weighted score to rank the players with the best value. Love this series, and really excited about seeing how you use stats! Wish you all the best :)
What a fabulous approach. I love hearing and seeing how people look to apply things in their own games!! That is ultimately the crux of the series (and the points made in this video) - is that there isn't necessarily a "right" way to approach things, and that finding the methods and metrics that work for you is the most important aspect
First impressions when i saw that the video is that long - OH YEAH it's gonna be a banger. And you know what? It is a banger! Big thx for your time and work. Gonna use lots of thing which you mantion in the video. Your channel defenetly is my favourite one by far. I'm rewatching the video and notice at 7:30 you are using a great way to compare multiple players in one window. Its like pain in the ass if I wanna compare for example four of my CB's. Trying to do the same thing in squad tab in my game and could find the way to do it. Even though im using your in game skin. Is it some sort of video edit? Or there is a simple way to do it and im just looking in the wrong sections or something?
You won't be able to do it, I'm afraid. As mentioned in the description: The squad view in the skin in this video is not part of the public release. This is because it causes a number of issues elsewhere - including, but not limited to, being unable to see players out on loan or international squads.
Every video for me is like going to a school which teaches football manager. The quality of each and every video is great. I just have a quick question. Is the PAOK save over? Because I really enjoyed that one (probably because I'm a PAOK fan from Thessaloniki).
PAOK is still very much continuing, and will return next week!! This particular Moneyball Clinic was quite a big one, so needed to be split into two parts - and unfortunately I'm not the quickest (I try to make up for it with care and quality). There'll be at least 2 PAOK episodes before the next Moneyball Clinic.
For the time being it is just this series and the PAOK series. That takes up most of my free time! The next Moneyball Clinic episodes will be a club in Turkey, then South America, then the English Championship
Which is another reason why it is a good indicator for where a player might be valued in the wider market. Team success plays a huge part in how player's are perceived. As mentioned in the video, it's a flawed metric, and it's main value is giving you an understanding of how a player will be viewed within the game world, and that can help guide (albeit loosely) assessment of wage demands. This is particularly useful for an old fart like me who baulks every time a player wants more than £100k per week. In my head, that's elite player money, but that's just not the case anymore!
@@mustermannfm The problem is when you have a good player on a bad team and the player only averages like 6.8 to 7.0. Unless you also consider team strength, a deviation from the team average or MOTM it is, imo, highly flawed

I actually had to re-record that bit, because I kept calling him holy spanner, and then realised that most people who see this won't have seen the Ajax videos 😂
That would ignore the fact that the approach is holistic. It's not a case of "THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO PLAY", but how can we apply Moneyball principles to change a club's fortune. The assessment of the team, selling & signing of players, and development of tactics all work hand-in-hand. We benchmark against the AI across multiple simulations to get an understanding of where they are in general. Moreover, it's only a starting point. A shell to build from. In a real save, the tactic would be more refined, as I'd be able to observe what is happening in games and make adjustments accordingly.
@@mustermannfm in some fm discussion forums somebody mentioned you and was saying without moneyball transfer your tactic will be enough to break game engine with original player.
@@khemrajbudha7955 I'm quite surprised to hear that. It's a very simple tactic 😂. You're welcome to test it yourself. The tactic is in the description. @@mustermannfm I have made my games according to your Sevilla and Chelsea videos, so I must tell you that I am a big fan of your dedication to finding players that fit the team without falling into market rumors. So, I'm really looking forward to your next video, and hoping you make one of Barcelona and/or Milan. You are great
Thank you, and glad to hear you're enjoying it so far. Italy is a league I haven't done yet, so there will be one there in the future!!
How do you get the player profile to open like that on the squad page or is that just an edit 😂?
As mentioned in the description:
SQUAD VIEW
The squad view in the skin in this video is not part of the public release. This is because it causes a number of issues elsewhere - including, but not limited to, being unable to see players out on loan or international squads.
Lets goo Moneyball
🎶 Take me out to the ball game
U signed the holy spanner
I actually had to re-record that bit, because I kept calling him holy spanner, and then realised that most people who see this won't have seen the Ajax videos 😂
Can you sim your tactics with old players? If their result is considerably worse then you can show your way is better.
I'm not particularly bothered by whatever the "meta" is. Through both videos I explain how the tactic was built around what we have available to us. It's unlikely to be the tactic I would use if I'd just kept the original squad.
@@mustermannfm I am fully agreed with your process and result. I am just mentioning this so that new players just dont misinterprete your gem content, so that they dont misunderstand your process. Anyways good content mate.
Can you do a separate video on how to use the data hub effectively?
@@khemrajbudha7955 I'll certainly consider it.
I'm not sure how much value I can add, because I find it pretty self explanatory. What I mean is that as I find it intuitive to use, I may not necessarily be able to identify why people don't share that same experience to then explain how to use it effectively. I hope that makes sense.
Do Man Utd next
I'll add them to the list of requests, but unlikely to make it before the end of the FM24 cycle. Maybe one for FM25 after they've sacked Ten Hag 🤯
I’m early for once!
Kicking off the weekend in the right way!
