This sensationalist clickbait title and thumbnail is really upsetting to see. It’s not justified at all in the tone of the video; see 6:20 “I think this is a good thing”. I understand there is pressure to create buzz around an inflammatory topic, but I also would consider it misinformation. There’s a teenager in the comments who was clearly affected in a negative way by this. Doesn’t seem worth it to me
@@SundasKhalid I see that you found the comment. Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your channel and have been a subscriber for some time and I will continue to support you. But I stand by my original comment.
The thing about data scientist role is that it sounds good, but it's actually almost always data analysis + data engineering. And most of the time it's data engineering stuff they are doing. Therefore, companies are starting to realize that they need data engineers not data scientists.
The tech field is always changing, and the scope of roles is continuously adjusted and realigned, but as long as you continue learning and growing, there will be a place to find a use for your skills. If you are learning python (or R), SQL, and statistics right now as part of your training, those are still valuable and important fundamental skills for anyone in the data pipeline.
The role is undergoing a shakeup, it's not really dying, the skills you pick up in a data science course are still going to be useful. As any relatively new profession has to change, adjust to the trend of high specialization. In that sense, we are going to be forced to choose a branch of this profession, and as someone said in another comment, this is going to favor the companies, surely the salaries are going to be lower. I think the title of the video is a bit exaggerated.
This is just a way for companies to still ask for advance skills while paying you less. Look at the difference in salary between data scientist and product analyst or any role with research in it
Well in my opinion it’s a good thing because a single job role has split up into two categories making it feasible for a data scientist to work in their favourite domain
People who are scared of the title of the video should understand that the title is like that to attract views (which isn't a bad thing). Essentially the change is a good thing as the roles are much clearer, allowing efficient job search and preparation. It will also push the researchers (who are usually highly qualified ) to research, leaving product analyst roles to people who are starting out analytics.
I feel like this is a response to Data Scientists doing pie-in-the-sky research that provides little value. Segmenting that role out to the phd types, and having the majority of DS focus on improving products that make the business $$$.
Finally they have started to realized. (Product/Business/Business Intelligence) Analyst is an upgrade to a Data Analyst role, which falls under the Data Analyst job stream. Please understand that this is not a segregation of DS role into DS and Product Analyst but a correction due to misconception and misunderstanding of job roles by the companies. This will help people to understand and align with their expectations and save a lot of time.
Yes it’s still a great career choice. I would suggest to stay up to date on how the role is evolving so you can keep up your education with the evolving data science job family.
Hi Sundas.... will you advice me to make transition in data science job family..... Is this job family still in demand in next 10 to 15 years down the line...???..Please answer...❤
Hi Sundas, thank you for your videos technology changes every day, and the job rolls along with it, I have a question, what do you recommend me studying to become a data analyst? would it be Python, statistics in Excel plus SQL?
@Sundas Khalid, is it possible for you to expand more about the soft and technical skills that a person need to acquire for these two rolls? I am currently taking a Data Science/Business and I need to know where I should gear my studies. Thank you im advanced.
Means what you are trying to say is because of this change.....data scientist can work in a specific field...like if i m expert in Macine learning only ...then also i can get job because of this change ....no need to have depth knowledge about every aspect like 1) Advance analytics 2) research work......if i m interested in machine learning , then companies can hire me as a data scientist expert in machine learning......so that data scientists who are expert in one of the area i mentioned above can get a job as a data scientist......am i right mam???? Plzz clear this doubt of mine..... thanku ❤
What’s the the pay difference at these companies between these roles? Does Product Analyst make less total comp at the equivalent level compared to Product Managers and DS Research ?
Is ML Engineering, Data Enegineering or MLOps related to DS research? I'm actually a DS who is overwhelmed about the amount of knowledge and technologies that one have to learn to achive real impact. But I'm mostly interested in the Engineering side of DS. Would it be better to migrate to software Engineering? What's your advice for someone like me?
Why are you concerned? As I mentioned in the video, it’s a good change. Watch the video till the end to see what you can do to be prepared. No need to be scared.
Oh come on, you are just putting on click bait where as the actual topic you are talking about is completely different! It could be anomalous to “Is use of dairy products dying” when winter is coming and ice cream sale is going down but simultaneously milk is being used in almost everything it is just spread across various products
Hey Data Nash, I’m going to give a generic answer which is prob not what you are looking for. Id suggest to pick one that is aligned with your goals + job market. The biggest skill in data science space you can have is the ability to learn and evolve with it.
data scientists can no longer provide the models that businesses need. businesses are moving towards LLMs, commodity APIs and large scale systems. training custom models and maintaining them under the umbrella of data science is no longer makes business sense. the useful and valuable models are being created by engineers who can work with scale, most DS are not great engineers let alone scale engineers
Clickbaity title - the data scientist role is evolving, not dying. It will be similar to business analyst or data analyst role in ten years' time - huge variation in work in the same role.
