Maybe it's time to think what is the entire point of punishments. Do we punish just because someone has done something bad? Or do we punish to keep a malefactor away from committing a similar crime again? If to aid learning and growth of a person is the primary purpose of punishments, then we may also look at other less painful ways to do the same. You seem like a person who has good self-awareness. If being conscious of your acts that may have inflicted pain to someone is enough to keep you from repeating it, then punishments are just not necessary. You have grown smarter and become a better person by yourself. I don't know if you realise this, but its a very rare trait that you possess. And the world would be better with more people like you. :)
@@vishwajeetohal9137 I think the main reason i punished myself is because i felt really bad about what i did, and i felt like I deserved punishment. Despite my terrible memory i try to remember all the wrong things i have done to avoid repeating them, as that phrase that ive seen somewhere at some point said, those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.
There is no Life, only Death. Life is merely a fallacy, a struggle against inevitable Death....warned me not to seek out the darkest part of my soul. I sprung from dust and to it I will return. "While the angels, all pallid and wan, Uprising, unveiling, affirm That the play is the tragedy, 'Man,' And its hero, the Conqueror Worm." -E.A. @@antemordacity9885 I wonder why people feel a need to have done something important. A need to last forever. A need to be eternal. I for one find peace in being finite
@Schuyler Mayfield Well..different people think differently. Eternity is a foreign concept w.r.t. to reality. Nothing is eternal, everything ends at some point or the other. Yet, there are a lot of people who wish to leave something behind to last for all eternity, a monument to the fact that they existed. They might end, but an imprint of their being ight influence those after them. Basically, it gives them a sense of life after death. Death is the conqueror, the final showstopper..but it is not ending that people fear, that is written in stone, it is what comes after that they fear. There is no escape from what lies beyond the veil, if there is anything at all. Hence, a lot of people just plain hate death and wish for a semblance of the eternal
@@antemordacity9885 exactly. They fear not existing. I'll say think back to the billions of years before you were born. We were dead then. Chances are that's what death is going to be like once we return. Be grateful for life. Embrace death. Nothing is forever.
Aperture, I deeply enjoy your videos. I currently live in Brazil. Our homicide rate is through the roof. In 2016, we had a record of 61.819 homicides. Not everywhere is very dangerous here, but we always need to be careful about who we are dealing with on a day-to-day basis.
Nice inert, Remember me as you scroll by, as you are now so once was i, As I am now soon you will be, Prepare for death And follow me. So take care this life, and how time you spend, For in the end death awaits Us all my friend. For you
Thank you for this video. Just knowing the fact that we'll die one day can be quite comforting. It reduces the pressure to achieve and to accomplish, simply because we'll lose everything and everyone in the end. This opens up oppertunities to do other things between the cradle and the grave.
@@aqwsellingaccount9489 Maybe you are right. I was kind of in a deep place myself when I typed that and my opinion changes between extremes depending on my current emotion.
About the whole gun control thing. I wish aperture would have brought up the idea of gun responsibility. If you want a gun, you should know if youre likely to have suicidal thoughts. You should own a gun treating it like its a dangerous weapon understand how to use it properly so that there is no chance of an accidental misfire. That is the responsibility of a gun owner, to not be careless with your use of it.
@@thewingedpotato6463 Too bad the government wrongly takes peoples right to own guns. For absolutely zero reason but the words of others as well. The government will do what it wants, as the people stand by idly. Thus it gets away with killing millions the world over. All while telling people they aren't allowed to have guns which is not something they can do. For no real reason, except their place of birth, and the word of someone else. Of course these are FAR from the worst horrors of crimes against humanity governments commit.
@@user-gz4ve8mw9l Couldn't agree more. The governments literally have a monopoly on violence. Only the government is allowed to protect their own interests from the people, the people have no right (or even means) to protect themselves from the government. That's why only government officials get to hide out in the underground bunkers while everyone else gets nuked into oblivion, even though they were the ones who started it, funded it, and escalated it beyond the point of no return. While using everyone's money but their own (which was taken from the people in the first place under threats of in/direct violence)
If we are talking about suicide, can we talk about the elephant in the room. Look at how many men commit the act. It is very tragic and there is so little help for men vs women. It honestly sickens me that us men are so disposable.
I know Aperture likes to end on a positive note, but while global life expectancy has increased, in some modern countries like the US, it has actually decreased recently, due to mainly the pandemic and natural disasters.
Oh, actually I looked that up on Our World in Data and apparently it's decreased from 78,92 years in 2014 to 78,85 years in 2018. Then 2019 is 78,86 years, and while there still isn't any data for 2020 I mean the most likely outcome is that it's decreased somewhat sharply.
I owned guns and rifles and I knew how to use them safely there are gun safety classes to go to and gun shooting places to practice safety etc. Be wise not ignorant!
Life rots and everything decays but it's alright if you can be proud each day. Buildings crumble and kingdoms fall but with just some joy you have it all. Both things I thought up at 3am
I look forward to the day I die. I spend too much time thinking about it. I will enjoy every last second I have left on earth I'm not saying I'm suicidal. Just the reconnection of where I came from is so fascinating. Like I'll be one with everything again.
There's no secret. When you die, you simply stop existing. Only a lifeless body remains, like a puppet. Life is inherently just a lot of suffering, and the only thing that keeps us all from committing suicide right now, is our survival instinct. People who are suicidal have their survival instinct weakened by a disrupted hormonal balance or overruled by other emotions.

Those anti gun arguments were so hollow. I come from a country with strict gun laws yet have one of highest suicide rates in the world. Bad guys do get guns anyways and the worst part is you have no choice but to accept your fate when someone shows at your doorstep with a weapon in hand
Ikr, I usually like his content, but his arguments against guns were bogus. I can understand you as I'm also from the same country as yours (India). I wish gun laws here were a bit lenient.
That's a metaphor lol
People own lot more lethal stuffs than a gun and you are worried about the object in question?
It doesn't matter if it's a grenade or claymore or acid or knife the thing is someone with objects that has the ability to kill you stands at your doorstep and tries to get in, you learn to deal that shit one way or the other

@@adarshchaudhary5362 he does use it as a metaphor but he also uses it literally later in the video. Also what does strict gun laws have to do with suicide? their are a lot of ways to kill yourself without a gun, they just happen to be one of the easiest.
Indias laws around guns may be strict. But enforcement is non-existent. If a nation with better enforcement enacts these laws, there will be a significant reduction in gun deaths. Take for example the dozens of developed countries with strict gun laws and compare the weighted per population statistics vs. USA

Aperture: We become judge, jury and executioner in our own case, and we sentence ourselves to punishments we don’t deserve
Me who made my mom angry yesterday and punished myself because she won’t do so: I feel like i’m being called out..
Even if my mom probably forgave me after like an hour or so (im not sure i was hiding in my room) and has since then completely forgotten about it. Despite my terrible memory i try to remember all the wrong things i have done to avoid repeating them, as that phrase that ive seen somewhere at some point said, those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

Basically, go live your life as you see fit, death might be the end, but that doesn’t mean you should brood over it. Preserve your imprints...and you will live on in thought, for evermore!
Not even in thought will you live on. For those who know us will eventually die to. We will all be forgotten one day. Like whispers in the wind.
True. But you'd did exist once. You contributed to Entropy, your being influenced events. No matter how small a contribution you made, you changed something...and that is what matters.
@@antemordacity9885 I wonder why people feel a need to have done something important. A need to last forever. A need to be eternal. I for one find peace in being finite
@Schuyler Mayfield
Well..different people think differently.

Thank you for this video.
Just knowing the fact that we'll die one day can be quite comforting. It reduces the pressure to achieve and to accomplish, simply because we'll lose everything and everyone in the end. This opens up oppertunities to do other things between the cradle and the grave.

So many valid points made. Love your insight.
Too bad governments are never responsible for anything, let alone the violence they commit with guns.

It honestly sickens me that us men are so disposable.
this might be my favorite aperture video yet. i was pleasantly surprised but now kinda sad but it’s fine
I love all your videos, But this one was actually SO GOOD
I owned guns and rifles and I knew how to use them safely there are gun safety classes to go to and gun shooting places to practice safety etc. Be wise not ignorant!

How can he predict my death
