I have personal experience with this method.. I used to be suuuuper nervous all the time like social anxiety type of nervousness. So I tried this body language method and it worked.. temporarily.. BUT when you push yourself to do the method over and over again every single day, you do actually become confident (also helps with inner confidence). In this case "fake it till you make it" really does apply. Besides its better to take this kinda action rather than keep wishing that you were more confident!

We all hear this kind of information time and time again (I know for me it's countless amounts) but I think what helped the most was SLOWING DOWN. Our minds usually move faster than we do so when you realize that you are (or going to be) in a situation that's unnerving; pause, remember, and breathe. Make the needed adjustments and move at a relaxed pace. Easier said than done but everything's better with practice. Great video as always, man.

Thing about body language is, sometimes the acts you usually know that display insecurity such as the hands in pocket, may be just a normal thing for that person to do. They Are not necessarily insecure, rather just comfortable for him. So before assessing someone using his body language, first develop a baseline of his relaxed or stressed mood to later know what his body is trying to say. For example mention something that would stress the person out, note how his body responds to it. Now you know what his body displays when he's stressed.

Amazing video! Funny thing is that while doing most of these things, the speed of my movement never occured to me as a trait of confidence! Intuitively I thought slower moving people were perceived as less excited, making them look less confident. But after watching this I can link to a ton of people who indeed appeal more confident because of their slower movements.
Thanks for your always worthwhile videos. This is one of the few channels actually nót wasting time of its viewers :)

This is really useful as long as you treat everyone as being entirely shallow and superficial literally all the time. If you have to think about this all the time, you're in the wrong place and the friends you win as a result not to be trusted. Were all forced to be in such places, but best not to confuse them with a safe environment.

I'm ftnb, and this has changed the way people perceive me so much. I'm pretty tall, and I have a naturally androgenous voice(so very thankful for it) my style is pretty loose fitting and casual (you can't see my chest for the most part) but even still, I just wasn't passing. I started following this as much as possible, and working out more, and the difference is night and day. Instead of people assuming I'm a woman, they either assume in a guy, or get hella confused.(literally the best feeling ever)

Algo muy importante es sentirse bien por dentro antes de querer mostrar una actitud que no va en relación a como te sientes realmente en tu interior, primero hay que enfocarse en tu bienestar emocional real y luego en ''mejorar'' tu comunicación.

It's amazing people struggle smiling genuinely. I went through deep depression a couple of years back and all throughout my childhood actually, and I'm a realistic man, not positive or negative, but one thing I can always do is smile genuinely, it's just natural. People are turning so empty and cold, it's a shame.

It's weird, I feel pretty confident at times and do all those things without even noticing it a lot of times, but once I see that girl I fancy or even if she is just in the area I lose it all and go back to closed body language which annoys me. Whenever I talk to someone it's pretty easy for me to hold eye contact even though i was very insecure a few years back, i can even hold eye contact with my crush, but I just feel like I lose all my confidence whenever she's there...

so, the slower move, what about walking fast. I used to walk fast vcz I dont like to waste the time on walk.

    • @rodrigodealencar323
      @rodrigodealencar323 6 років тому +18

it's not just about pace, it's about controlness of movement. if your movements are quick but precise, accurate (and you actually don't mess up stepping on unecessary stuff) that still portrays confidence.
of course, one must also read the occasion. if you're walking with someone and the journey itself is an important part of the time you're spending together (say when you're going home from going out with a friend or when you are going for coffee with a friend and you start hurring before you get there), then walking fast might seem as hurring which would mean "I want this interaction to end quickly".
Also, when you're walking with other people and they perhaps can't keep up to your pace, not slowing down can be seen as arrogantly (as they are making a huge effort to meet at your point, but you're making none to meet at theirs).

actually a drink shows a lot about people. Like if you have water or if you have a margarita or just a beer it shows what kind of person you are to a group depending on how many people you associate with. Putting your hands in your pockets can show that you are relaxed or comfortable around the people you are around or unconfedent if you are by yourself. Crossing your arms and having a strong posture could mean you are an alpha male or if you are a girl it could mean you are strong and indepentend or pissed. People act differently around other people so if you have one social pattern with one group of people it could be completely different with another.

Well I never had those problems, or thoughts, before. But I generally smile alot. Maybe thats a weakness anyways.
Theres a question uprising: Why do you feel like you habe to smile? Which situation, ever, gave you that emotion?

obiwanfisher537 let's say they tell me a joke or they're trying to be funny/ say something that's expected to be funny and I might get it but it doesn't make me laugh out loud wouldn't it be weird to not smile

the thing is that, even the slightest things you do at a time, you see a change in how people percieve you, and that gives you power and power should give you confidence.

Thanks for the great video. A heres some help for the ones who don't have strong eye contact: if you are too scared to look into someones eyes just try to look at their nose. it will look like youre looking into their eyes. 2nd: every time you break eye contact give your friend something or just tell them to hit you a little. this will give you some motivation

Small correction. 70% of communicate in form of body language is accurate only in instances in which verbal message and body language doesn't match. Such as in instances in which someone says "I love you", with arms crossed and angry frown in the face. In instance such as this, the message is not consistent and then non-verbal sights are becoming much more significant,

Another important thing: Don't breathe loudly and slowly or show off the body movement associated with breathing in conversations. It makes you seem annoyed of the situation and like you're wanting to get out of there.
I also want to note on the thing with spreading yourself on seats etc. that it makes most women think that you are selfish, not self-confident. The last thing I need to add here is that spreading your belongings is very rude if you get them the others' space or on their desks.

Bullshit... You just act like a badass and feel like one , that's confidence ( little bit of arrogance|trust in self ) , be cool and relaxed (chill) the best thing to do is to make sure that you also have the facts to back you up , not only your attitude... Read books , workout , do things that are out of your comfort zone. For example I like to keep my hands in my pants because it's relaxing , does this mean that I am not confident ? No! It means that I like to chill , btw if you keep your chest caved inward you will look even more beastly ( this only if you workout , the muscle on your back around your neck will look bigger and will make you look scarier) the main thing is your attitude and how you react to things or how you carry yourself , your attitude will be shown in your body language , no matter how much you will try to hide it ... Eventually people will see your insecurities , your mindset is very important when it comes to confidence .

Archons Yeah I lost interest when he said not to do certain things like with your arms some people are confident with their hands in their pockets and I used to be the kind to hold my arm and yet I felt confident! This guys is giving false information. There is not just "1" type of confident person. There are shy confident people, awkward confident, and pointing feet is who we are lol. This guy has weird conclusions.

I close my legs to relax, kinda a posture problem; but Im more engaged in a conversation when Im relaxed... I also close my legs when I sense some afloat confidence individual checks me out, and then I reopen my legs when I senced that same person had profiled me as non-confident or weak to confuse/trick them. A mouse trap. I'm sure this video is right on a majority basis but there are always exceptions that I hope ppl won't just ignore.
