I have personal experience with this method.. I used to be suuuuper nervous all the time like social anxiety type of nervousness. So I tried this body language method and it worked.. temporarily.. BUT when you push yourself to do the method over and over again every single day, you do actually become confident (also helps with inner confidence). In this case "fake it till you make it" really does apply. Besides its better to take this kinda action rather than keep wishing that you were more confident!
I tried this method a couple of months ago. It did work at the beginning but I couldn't keep doing it because i started to felt even more uncomfortable and anxious.
We all hear this kind of information time and time again (I know for me it's countless amounts) but I think what helped the most was SLOWING DOWN. Our minds usually move faster than we do so when you realize that you are (or going to be) in a situation that's unnerving; pause, remember, and breathe. Make the needed adjustments and move at a relaxed pace. Easier said than done but everything's better with practice. Great video as always, man.
Thing about body language is, sometimes the acts you usually know that display insecurity such as the hands in pocket, may be just a normal thing for that person to do. They Are not necessarily insecure, rather just comfortable for him. So before assessing someone using his body language, first develop a baseline of his relaxed or stressed mood to later know what his body is trying to say. For example mention something that would stress the person out, note how his body responds to it. Now you know what his body displays when he's stressed.
As I've read it makes you look cool if you keep your thumbs outside of your pocket like in the video, but it makes you look insecure if you put the whole hands in the pocket. I think the video is wrong to be honest.
Head held high, back in great posture, arms folded one hand touching the side of your rib cage, and the other hand underneath the other elbow. confidence!
Amazing video! Funny thing is that while doing most of these things, the speed of my movement never occured to me as a trait of confidence! Intuitively I thought slower moving people were perceived as less excited, making them look less confident. But after watching this I can link to a ton of people who indeed appeal more confident because of their slower movements. Thanks for your always worthwhile videos. This is one of the few channels actually nót wasting time of its viewers :)
This is really useful as long as you treat everyone as being entirely shallow and superficial literally all the time. If you have to think about this all the time, you're in the wrong place and the friends you win as a result not to be trusted. Were all forced to be in such places, but best not to confuse them with a safe environment.
I got such an eye open video ever, I have been trying to apply that to my life and I found out that this bodylauguage technique was really working on get rid of my social anxiety, love this video❤️
Hey improvement Pill! Another great video, thanks for all of your content. I have a question about head positioning - what if people are taller or shorter than you, should you still face directly forward and merely use your eyes to account for the difference?
Used most of these method during my presentation, and it was super helpful .. People be talking about how confident I was, and praising me for it. They won't believe me when i told them that i was a nervous wreck while doing the presentation ..
Improvement Pill, may you please bring back that intro sound of the pills shaking, like in your older videos? I always associated that with your brand & it may be smart to bring that back.
Improvement Pill Actually it makes psychological sense if it's about designing. I am new here, so I don't know exactly the intro, but if I hear this it does make your channel more of a profit in a way things comes together and fit to each other. (Maybe now you do know people actually cared about it ;)
I'm ftnb, and this has changed the way people perceive me so much. I'm pretty tall, and I have a naturally androgenous voice(so very thankful for it) my style is pretty loose fitting and casual (you can't see my chest for the most part) but even still, I just wasn't passing. I started following this as much as possible, and working out more, and the difference is night and day. Instead of people assuming I'm a woman, they either assume in a guy, or get hella confused.(literally the best feeling ever)
Algo muy importante es sentirse bien por dentro antes de querer mostrar una actitud que no va en relación a como te sientes realmente en tu interior, primero hay que enfocarse en tu bienestar emocional real y luego en ''mejorar'' tu comunicación.
I've been watching your videos for five minutes and I just don't understand why you don't have 10 million subscribers yet? Bruh.. you're amazing and you deserve so much more than 200 something thousand subscribers oh my gosh I'm subbing right now you're amazing you're such an inspiration can't wait to see your channel grow
It's amazing people struggle smiling genuinely. I went through deep depression a couple of years back and all throughout my childhood actually, and I'm a realistic man, not positive or negative, but one thing I can always do is smile genuinely, it's just natural. People are turning so empty and cold, it's a shame.
It's weird, I feel pretty confident at times and do all those things without even noticing it a lot of times, but once I see that girl I fancy or even if she is just in the area I lose it all and go back to closed body language which annoys me. Whenever I talk to someone it's pretty easy for me to hold eye contact even though i was very insecure a few years back, i can even hold eye contact with my crush, but I just feel like I lose all my confidence whenever she's there...
yesterday I commented on practical psychology. I asked about body language. You made a video about it. you and practical psychology have become my favourite youtubers! keep going

it's not just about pace, it's about controlness of movement. if your movements are quick but precise, accurate (and you actually don't mess up stepping on unecessary stuff) that still portrays confidence. of course, one must also read the occasion. if you're walking with someone and the journey itself is an important part of the time you're spending together (say when you're going home from going out with a friend or when you are going for coffee with a friend and you start hurring before you get there), then walking fast might seem as hurring which would mean "I want this interaction to end quickly". Also, when you're walking with other people and they perhaps can't keep up to your pace, not slowing down can be seen as arrogantly (as they are making a huge effort to meet at your point, but you're making none to meet at theirs).
The smile is a body mechanism to ask for acceptance, show that you’re not threatening and make others like you. In other worlds,it is to please others and make them comfortable, not yourself .
WHAT? it just came after i was learning body language this week and i was wishing you upload a body language video and...Boom ..you uploaded a video about it !
it's not just the fact of postural habits it's just the society itself has lose faith and hope of interface with other individual, but we can stop that by being ourselves neutrally and confident your own way.
I personally fell on this channel recently ( that's probably the coolest thing I found this months) and I would like to tell you that I really enjoy every single work you have done. I have a lot of gratitude to you because your work really helps me to stay focus on my objectives and keep motivate ! In addition, we probably share the same values, it could be so awsome to meet you in real life and talk around a coffee. Stay the same, you're an inspiration for many people. Hope you will have a perfect day ! A swiss Sub :"))
actually a drink shows a lot about people. Like if you have water or if you have a margarita or just a beer it shows what kind of person you are to a group depending on how many people you associate with. Putting your hands in your pockets can show that you are relaxed or comfortable around the people you are around or unconfedent if you are by yourself. Crossing your arms and having a strong posture could mean you are an alpha male or if you are a girl it could mean you are strong and indepentend or pissed. People act differently around other people so if you have one social pattern with one group of people it could be completely different with another.
Omg thanks for this! I literally smile with my teeth ALL the time. It actually makes sense because most of the time it IS forced. But I do like to smile, thanks!

obiwanfisher537 I agree that's very true, I'm not unhappy I just mean I feel uncomfortable when people are laughing at something or im expected to smile so I have a nervous smile and I look as if I'm scared/nervous/uncomfortable which I am. Theres a question uprising: Why do you feel like you habe to smile? Which situation, ever, gave you that emotion?
obiwanfisher537 let's say they tell me a joke or they're trying to be funny/ say something that's expected to be funny and I might get it but it doesn't make me laugh out loud wouldn't it be weird to not smile
Rusty Dreams Haha, I don't know about you but I certainly do. The other day I was telling this guy in my class a joke and without even realizing the whole class was laughing at it including the teacher 😂😂
Thanks for the amazing video!I have one question: During a conversation i'm supposed to look at the person i'm speaking to for the 80% of the time. Where should i look for the remaining 20? i don't wanna seem disinterested :3.
the thing is that, even the slightest things you do at a time, you see a change in how people percieve you, and that gives you power and power should give you confidence.
Thanks for the great video. A heres some help for the ones who don't have strong eye contact: if you are too scared to look into someones eyes just try to look at their nose. it will look like youre looking into their eyes. 2nd: every time you break eye contact give your friend something or just tell them to hit you a little. this will give you some motivation
Small correction. 70% of communicate in form of body language is accurate only in instances in which verbal message and body language doesn't match. Such as in instances in which someone says "I love you", with arms crossed and angry frown in the face. In instance such as this, the message is not consistent and then non-verbal sights are becoming much more significant,
congrats on 200k subs bro! been following you since your Deep Convo vid! You really blew up dude, you really deserved it too! Wish you the best for 2017
I really love this channel, it's life-changing at least for me. It's provided me great improvements in my life and I really appreciate your effort! cheers!
Another important thing: Don't breathe loudly and slowly or show off the body movement associated with breathing in conversations. It makes you seem annoyed of the situation and like you're wanting to get out of there. I also want to note on the thing with spreading yourself on seats etc. that it makes most women think that you are selfish, not self-confident. The last thing I need to add here is that spreading your belongings is very rude if you get them the others' space or on their desks.
i was actually criticized ( in a joking way) about my crossed arms while i was sitting in a bar with some people i met through a friend, i will admit i was feeling a bit nervous that day since im not used to going out and meeting new people and i did the crossed arms thing subconsciously but now that i know about it ill be taking steps to show more confidence in my body even if im not feeling it
Thinking about all this just makes people more nervous, and they will transmit that. The only thing you have to do is feeling well and being positive, the rest comes alone.
Bullshit... You just act like a badass and feel like one , that's confidence ( little bit of arrogance|trust in self ) , be cool and relaxed (chill) the best thing to do is to make sure that you also have the facts to back you up , not only your attitude... Read books , workout , do things that are out of your comfort zone. For example I like to keep my hands in my pants because it's relaxing , does this mean that I am not confident ? No! It means that I like to chill , btw if you keep your chest caved inward you will look even more beastly ( this only if you workout , the muscle on your back around your neck will look bigger and will make you look scarier) the main thing is your attitude and how you react to things or how you carry yourself , your attitude will be shown in your body language , no matter how much you will try to hide it ... Eventually people will see your insecurities , your mindset is very important when it comes to confidence .
Archons Yeah I lost interest when he said not to do certain things like with your arms some people are confident with their hands in their pockets and I used to be the kind to hold my arm and yet I felt confident! This guys is giving false information. There is not just "1" type of confident person. There are shy confident people, awkward confident, and pointing feet is who we are lol. This guy has weird conclusions.
I close my legs to relax, kinda a posture problem; but Im more engaged in a conversation when Im relaxed... I also close my legs when I sense some afloat confidence individual checks me out, and then I reopen my legs when I senced that same person had profiled me as non-confident or weak to confuse/trick them. A mouse trap. I'm sure this video is right on a majority basis but there are always exceptions that I hope ppl won't just ignore.
I have personal experience with this method.. I used to be suuuuper nervous all the time like social anxiety type of nervousness. So I tried this body language method and it worked.. temporarily.. I have been doing exactly the same things you mentioned when one's nervous around someone. Thanks a bunch!
so, the slower move, what about walking fast. I used to walk fast vcz I dont like to waste the time on walk.
it's not just about pace, it's about controlness of movement. if your movements are quick but precise, accurate (and you actually don't mess up stepping on unecessary stuff) that still portrays confidence.
of course, one must also read the occasion. if you're walking with someone and the journey itself is an important part of the time you're spending together (say when you're going home from going out with a friend or when you are going for coffee with a friend and you start hurring before you get there), then walking fast might seem as hurring which would mean "I want this interaction to end quickly".
Also, when you're walking with other people and they perhaps can't keep up to your pace, not slowing down can be seen as arrogantly (as they are making a huge effort to meet at your point, but you're making none to meet at theirs).

In instance such as this, the message is not consistent and then non-verbal sights are becoming much more significant,
That smile thing is crazy! I do it a lot. Now I’ll stop for sure.

Feminists in 3..2..1
Amazing vid, helped me a lot, I tens to forget these
Another important thing: Don't breathe loudly and slowly or show off the body movement associated with breathing in conversations.
Guys tomorrow I am going to meet my girlfriend parents. and I end up looking for confidence tips. please pray for me
How did it go?
@@cherrycat5599 very well I acted like a presidential candidate and kept imagining that and it really paid off.

Meena Kaur extreme feminists maybe "spread your legs apart" XD
eyeballs are delicious hahahaha i guess so i mean all videos have dislikes but why people dislike stuff made to help them is beyond me
i was actually criticized ( in a joking way) about my crossed arms while i was sitting in a bar with some people i met through a friend, i will admit i was feeling a bit nervous that day since im not used to going out and meeting new people and i did the crossed arms thing subconsciously but now that i know about it ill be taking steps to show more confidence in my body even if im not feeling it
So basically stand like Cristiano Ronaldo
Me in a banana shaped position right now: "ahahahahahah"

Thinking about all this just makes people more nervous, and they will transmit that.
The only thing you have to do is feeling well and being positive, the rest comes alone.

Uhh lol what do you mean by that
I'm going to try all these body language, psychology tips for the upcoming school year and see what happens
Pug Bandito Lol , okay :D !.
Gotta show the gains
Dick twice a day And chill plus Reptilian Hunter hahaha true :)
It's not about how you feel, it's about how others perceive you.
