Windows needs to have an "XBOX" windows mode, much like steam deck has. Just having a simplified OS layer makes this way more appealing to console gamers. All these vendor made ones are passable at best.
I had a steam deck, it was nice after i put windows on it. I lost my job and had to sell it to get my kid a bike on her birthday this summer. New job money saved and i am deciding between the ally or the Lenovo as a treat on my birthday nov 30th. These videos help alot
Legion GO should have 120Hz mode from the beginning. Even without VRR You cen easy set 30hz, 40hz and 60hz in 120hz container and those framerates will be looking great :)
I love the idea of a "build your own Legion", the big things for me were the L1/R1 being too high to be comfortable for Elden Ring and the dpad being way too shallow. Also the general ergonomics just didn't feel great for my carpal tunnel syndrome (really only the Steam Deck has been mostly comfortable for me), so if there was a way that I could have a custom set of joycons for the Legion Go it might make me pick up another one (I ended up returning mine).
For us who moved from a lifetime of PlayStation and this is our first PC ever not just a handheld, can we get a video explaining all the graphics settings and what do we need to change/adjust for general gaming and what’s needed to be changed for certain games to get the best performance out of this over both battery and plugged in? Since because of your enthusiasm and reviews I got one and I love it. But I’m so overwhelmed with how much I need to do/learn just to using it especially coming after 20 years of Sony PS plug n play.
Love your ideas guys. Lenovo you better listen to them, left handed fps mode, customized joycons without the awkward button, keyboard case, some guys will like the accessories, You gotta put them on your accessories store lenovo, this will make the Go miles better than other handheld.
I personally just wanted to use it as a tablet and use whatever controllers you want with it. It would be nice to be able to turn off the “joy cons” in that mode to save battery for the main device.
Ive considered buying the Ally, not using microSD card, and just upgrading SSD to 1TB. I really want to see how the screen compares to the Steam Deck. It'll cost $620 for sale Black Friday but you can get it "open box excellent" for $520.
6:30 - Yes, yes, yes! I personally will only consider the device as soon as they release a keyboard cover. This seems like a perfect beefy tablet hybrid. I personally would even forgo joycons, but it's beyond inexplicable how Lenovo has yet not released anything like that
New to the channel (from your Legion Go) challenge. This was super helpful. I follow The Phawx and Retro Game Corps previously so it was a cool collab. Sucks integer scaling is not simple and not workable. Hopefully the drivers improve overall in the future.
With my steam deck I bought a bluetooth mouse and keyboard. So I would probably never take the controllers off the Legion Go. I have a surface pro and same thing, mouse and keyboard.
Similar to Russ I was thinking about controllers. What they could do is make the controllers modular next with a magnetised shell. There'd be multitude of contact points underneath so that you can then buy various shells which cater to particular play styles and have buttons in specific positions. That way the base controlleds won't look so busy and "uber-geeky" and they won't forgoe anything to fit everything in.
With all due respect, alot of the things said on this video sounds REALLY nitpicking. From talking about having a keyboard, knowing if they added one, then the complaint would be "its too small ", then the FPS mode, "having a proper mouse", all of these things that are named, you should be at home with a full rig... this thing is meant for on the go, to copy (at the most minimalist way) having a full rig. If you are a keyboard and mouse guy, buy a Bluetooth keyboard and a Bluetooth mouse. I just feel we are living in a culture where we are MORE unappreciative then appreciative in what technology is bringing us. The legion is SO good for their first try, and future updates will define it even better.
I understand what you’re tryna say, but the legion go is meant as a way to play mouse-oriented games. The experience seems to not be suited for that. In part due to all these small issues which are necessary compromises for it’s defining feature, portability. Then it’s not a good a product 🤷♂️
depends on the deadzones because if it’s accurate enough to aim precisely then i use the right stick but like on switch it has horrible deadzones so i use my left stick to line up the crosshair
The steam decks LED charging light stays on even while fully charged. You have to turn it on or wake it from sleep to see the % i wish it would turn off at 100%
Russ talking about the "swipe up" for taskbar - personally, I've been able to do it with my Ally the entire time - and I do it all the time. Edit: Phawx immediately clarified it lol.
i dont know if its me, but i Have the ally and im currently playing Resident evil 4 at 900p 25tdp custom, and i have it limited to 45 fps in the ally. if i run the screen at 120hz i dont see any frame drops or tearing, but if a lower the screen to 60 hz i see tearing all the time, for what i know the diferenc is that at 120 hz you are using vrr but at 60 hz you dont.
A unique idea that I had was I believe that if they just put it the Xbox the new modern Xbox console UI over to Windows even if it's just a setting in normal windows that you can just activate this alternative form of Windows that just looks like an Xbox console but you still have all the functionality of Windows would be sick and they already have the foundation and they could easily just put it over to windows in it's the perfect solution for them to also include pushing for game pass idk why they haven't done it awhile ago
One question … what are thoughts on this compared to the Onexplayer 2 pro? Apologies if this was discussed in the video, I am only 1/3 the way through.
As a former owner of the steam deck and a currently owner of the ally I love handheld tech and after watching the Go reviews I am tempted to buy it but only after it’s updated. I think the Go is compared to a Swiss Army knife, it’s good at many things master of nothing
I’m 100% with Bill on this one: vsync, Freesync, RSR, FSR, VRR, non-VRR, GeForce. It all has started to sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher on the phone: Whonk wonk whaaa… Screw it all. 60hz, sync it up, enjoy your life and a cooler running computer. I can’t tell you how many hundreds of adversaries still fall to my old-man fingers with a 60hz screen and wireless keyboard and mouse.
Yeah i do wish they got something like ipad connector for keyboard. Because it is a laptop that runs on window 11. I would consider buying if they got this option. They can even make the keyboard bigger and include power pack in it for extra juice.

Such weird thing happening between a handheld console that runs windows and it just seems to break things one way or another. Steamdeck is still the best for me. I'm not spending 700$ for a handheld. I paid 670$ for my Xbox one x and it destroys the steamdeck. Yet the steamdeck streams Xbox games anyway and they are quite playable.
It’s plain as day I don’t know as much as Phawx (most people probably don’t!). But one thing we ALL know: Windows is at least PART of the problem with Windows gaming.
I hope other handhelds manufacturers (non-steamdeck) instead of trying to make windows work for a handheld, just give a vanilla windows and supporting dual boot with something like chimeraOS
I don't get how so many people don't get the ergonomics of that scroll wheel. So when you are holding the controler index finger on the trigger, your middle finger is just about touching that scroll wheel. TDLR - STOP using our index finger for the scroll wheel, us your middle finger, it's longer and closer to the wheel. I will conced that the angle is not the best, they could have rotated it more so the wheel is closer to vertical. Additional thoughts: I find it interesting how critical people are of this device, and what I mean by that is all the critisim is based on love and people see the potential and want Lenovo to reach that gold standard. This is an adult switch / tech demo and it's amazing for a first draft.
Hope they know you can just turn the lights off the sticks on the rig ally did it day one and never had the issue of them flashing at me. And lights on handheld systems like that are completely worthless just on there to be more “gamer”
All I can think about is if the Phawx had no shirt on and we got to see his mainly chest hair in full range

Please give us a keyboard case!
I have never seen the benefit of vrr on my ally. I can always see when it stutters between fps drops.
It's been a long week.
Thank you guys for another fun episode, always a great way to unwind

Hi from France 🇫🇷 ❤
Hope they know you can just turn the lights off the sticks on the rig ally did it day one and never had the issue of them flashing at me. And lights on handheld systems like that are completely worthless just on there to be more “gamer”
Yeah, I know you can turn them off, but I was wondering what the flashing means.
Can someone make a video on being new to these handheld consoles?
Being new?
YOU DO NOT NEED VRR ON A 8 inch screen.
Looking at his facial expression, I don't think the Phawx's really cared for you calling him by his real name, lol
That's just his face
nitpick videos..lol as if the amory crate and steam os are in good shape on release😂
