Single plastic use bags were banned in 2017. It is illegal and carries a fine of between 2-4 million Kenya shillings that is 6-13 million naira or a jail term of 1-2 years or both.

    Hi Vera,
Thank you for visiting our country kenya,
Kenyans are your cousins, and they love visitors.
In Kenya we use reusable bags in the whole country. Using plastic bags can send you to prison for some years.
Another is about security in the airport, due to incidents of terrorism in the country, like the one we had in Westgate mall where many people died, security is tight in mos areas in Kenya,
You had to leave the vehicle so that it can go through scanning machines to prevent bombs being sneaked inside the airport premises. All in all it is meant to protect you.
We look forward to welcome you again.

About the rent its always monthly but depends on your flexibility, someone can pay 3-12 months ahead, some can pay twice monthly as in ½/½ , it basically depends with you so long as at the end of the month you'd have done your payments.

3 days ago the minister of education said schools will be ranked based on the number of trees in their compound. Rent in Kenya you cannot afford to pay a year in advance. An ordinary 2 bedroom house is $200 per month. Who can give $2400 in advance? Plastic bags were banned. You always carry a shopping bag or buy one that is biodegradable as you shop which can be an expensive habit

In Kenya, you can pay rent for the whole year, six months, or even 3 or 2 months if you want to. Airport security check: To get category 1 status to enable direct flights to the US from JKIA, certain security measures had to be taken given the airport is situated in a region known for terror attacks. Security is taken rather seriously everywhere. Almost all properties have guards and scanners everywhere.

As an aged person i dont ever recall ever paying rent annually. Its never happened in Kenya. We get paid monthly and thereofe budget our expenses on a monthly basis. Its the norm here. Also our rent is on the higher side. An annual rental may seem overwhelming for most of us. Also what happens if you want to leave mid year, do you forego your rent for the remaining part of the year? In terms of plastic bags we havent used those for years throughout the country. We have also gone cashless though you can still use money but not so frequent

At the airport entrance the security checks are necessary. The car is checked of weapons as you are scanned also on the right side. This to protect the population inside the airport for it has more than 500 companies and hotels in the airport perimeter.

The security cheque outside JKIA was added to enhance security following terrorist threats in the last 10 years or so...Threats are 'neutralized' before you even access the airport. Quite effective, in my opinion.

In Kenya you can pay rent for one, two, three or six or one year depending on your financial ability. Some do default and pay after the fact.
As to why we have security check outside the Airport ask Al Shabab

  • @samuelonchweri5070
    @samuelonchweri5070 Рік тому +1

The security check point outside the Airport was put up recently. Initially it was not there.
Reason, we are a country on a 24hr terrorist attack alert from previous experiences. So such sensitive infrastructure facility like JKA has to be very highly protected reason why you have to be screened for any terrorist threat outside the Airport.

No generators being used for electricity, 2. Robust and varied public transport - with the Matatu mini buses standing out coz of the grafitti and loud music 3. Fast and cheap wifi - even free wifi in public spaces (Hotels, SOme Public trasport etc).....

Secondly Rwanda is the first country in East Africa to ban common use of plastics as they were an environmental eye sore. Kenya followed suit and that has greatly improved our environment. Thirdly, we host the United Nations Environment HQ here in Nairobi Kenya and its important that we take the lead in making the world 🌍 go green and this is why you see trees all over Nairobi Kenya

Kenya went green in 2017 hence ban on plastic bags. Kenya is almost a cashless society, all government payments are cashless, covid also heightened use of cashless mode for payments, don't be afraid,it's safe as it can be. Am currently in Nigeria but av been warned not to Swipe my Visa. We are taught to plant trees and their importance since pre-school. As a tourist nation Kenyans are generally polite and welcoming.

True! Even Ghana did the same. The reason for switching was that all of Nigeria's, Ghana's, Gambia's and I think Sierra Leone's neighbors were all former French colonies and that they all drove on the right hand side of the road. So they did it to make it easier for them to drive when crossing the borders from one country to another in that region of Africa.
