      Gelish cures at 395nm (much higher than other brands) So you require a lamp that cures at that wavelength or within a range that includes that.

    One of my gelish colours really badly keeps shrinking . I have some everything as per yr video . Could it be I need to do very very thin layers (thinner than usual)

    • @nailnovice8781
      @nailnovice8781  5 років тому +7

      Has it been sitting on the shelf unused? The ingredients inside start to separate and need a roll around every now and then. I always roll all my colours every few weeks and give a gently roll or stir right after the client chooses their colour and allow it to settle again while I continue the service. Also, 2-3 thin layers. The first layer should be quite sheer. Shrinking can also be your foundation layer is too thick or you didn't cap the edge properly or you didn't dry brush. Hope this helps :)

    Hello Dear ,
    Can you please advise use of structure gel .
    I have want to ask you I do exactly same prep and application but my customer saying polish comes off easily like if it chip from one corner they can peel it off whole nail easily. Gelish is good brand I don’t why this is happening. I have tried cuccio gel colour before and same thing peel off easily.
    Please advise

    My Top it off cracks on the first day. Crack as if it's a cracked glass or a strand of hair on my nails. They also start chipping off within the first week.
    I have that exact 18G lamp and the gelish still chips. At first I thought it was my cheap lamp but I just bought this one and it cost me a fortune so I just don't know what I'm doing wrong anymore.

    • @nailnovice8781
      @nailnovice8781  5 років тому

      Are you certain you are using Gelish Top It Off (from the soak-off range)? Crackling usually happens when a hard gel is applied over a soft gel. Chipping is also a sign of over-curing. Are you following the cure timing correctly? applying as the video outlines and usual genuine Gelish? You are right. Something is not right in your routine if this is happening for you...

      Hi there June. No. Not in this instance. The foundation layer is like the double sided sticky tape between the natural nail and the colour. You don't want to remove the stick (as iso would), just simply remove the EXCESS stick (so you're colour doesnt slide around)

      After foundation to smooth ridges and imperfections of the natural nail. After colour for extra strength. Its also much easier to soak off when on top of colour than when applied over foundation.

    • @nailnovice8781

      Over the years, I had two colours that would change. I had a pink that instantly turned purple wherever top coat was applied. Gelish supplied a replacement as others has complained about the same issue, with the same colour. And a nudey fawn that would fade over three weeks wear. I have found gelish colours to fade with wear more than the other brand I use.

      @nailnovice8781  4 роки тому +4

      Hi Jennifer, im so glad you asked and double checked, because NO. not all lamps are the same. And not all lamps will cure all products. Different brands and ranges cure at specific light spectrums amd if your lamp is not correct for the particular range you are using, you can under cure it. Whilst it will LOOK cured, it may actually not be. Which is exposing you or clients to uncured prouduct and could cause irritation, allergies and dermatitis! Do your research! Or but the recommended lamp from your range.

      Pro Bond is a primer and is typically only used for extension services such as acrylic where higher adhesion is required. If you apply pro bond before gel polish, it may help it to last longer BUT, the soak off will take waaaaay longer and be more difficult. It is unnecessary for a gel polish service. If anything, ONLY at the free edge for trouble chippers. I am cleansing with 99% Isopropyl alcohol (or use your polish brands cleanser)

    • @nailnovice8781
      @nailnovice8781  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Dana, it's really important that you know and understand that not all lamps will cure all gels. Different brands of gel polish cure at different light spectrums. You MUST have a lamp that matches the spectrum that your polish requires to cure. This is why each brand, has their own lamp, that has been scientifically designed to cure THAT polish. Gel polish also LOOKS cured when only 50% cured. So you may THINK your polish is curing in your cheap lamp, but really it is under cured and could lead to overexposure and dermatitis. A 6W lamp will not cure much at all.... You really must look into the Gelish lamp if using Gelish.

      Gelish does cure in UV. You will need to cure for 2 minutes. But also check the wattage that Gelish suggest as I have only used LED :)

    How do you ensure that no polish goes on the skin?

      Stay a couple of mm away from the cuticle area and sidewalls. It's just practice! You always want your top coat to overlap your colour by about 1mm so keep that in mind :)

      You could try latex varnish ! It just peels off after you’ve finished painting you’re nails.

    What product did you use to clean the nails after you finished?
    Thank you!!

      The Gelish Top It Off Top Coat still has an inhibition layer after curing. You can use Gelish Cleanse or pure (beauty grade) isopropyl alcohol.

    Is there a certain brush you like to use for dry brushing? Or specific brand you like?

      Hi Stace, I just use a cheap, synthetic brush that I like the shape of. It's wiped with alcohol after each client to remove the tacky layer residue, which is drying for bristles so I'm happy with a cheapie that i can easily replace every few months :) You can also use a gel brush though!
