How is it out of control? You people keep saying that while these trucks keep gaining sales. You obviously don't know what control is. If you find these trucks expensive, then why are you here? Go watch reviews of lower trim trucks for $30,000.
No, they aren't. In the US, you can still buy, with usual incentive, a base model truck for under $25,000. That's well within the budget of the average American car buyer. If you can't afford that, then that's you're problem because you're keep up with most buyers. Stop complaining.
Depends what you are looking for. I love both trucks, the deciding factor for me, which no one seems to mention...the aluminum Ford will deter rusting. In Iowa that is huge. #1 culprit of resale value... rust!
You're actually wrong there. The XL is the base model. The Long Horn and the Big Horn are two separate models. XL-> Tradesman, XLT-> Big Horn, Lariat-> Laramie, Raptor-> Rebel, King Ranch-> Laramie Long Horn, Platinum-> N/A, Limited-> Limited
@@SilverRaven1959 , spoken by a true Ford lemming. You Ford guys can't stand it when another truck manufacturer does something better. Fords trucks have rode like crap for ever!! I know, I sold them. And talk about repairs, holy crap, Ford were always in the shop. I sold Chevy's later and they held up much better. I don't care what brand you buy, just be honest and buy the best product out there.
@@wd8786 it's true my bruddah. I also love Ford trucks, but the reliability is not that bad, it's just the interior quality and ride quality that has always been better on the Ram.
I bought a new truck last year and looked at the F150 Sport and Ram Sport and I flip flopped a few times about which one I wanted more. In the end I went with the Ram for a few reasons. 1. The interior was far superior in terms of appearance. It looked more modern and expensive. At the end of the day that's where you spend all your time. 2. Value. I got about $4,000 more in options for the same price as the Ford. I couldn't believe how much more the Ford cost. I got heated seats and steering wheel, sunroof, 8 inch screen, remote starter, leather and a few more things. 3. The ride in the Ram is nicer and more composed in my opinion. 4. The sound of the Hemi is just awesome. The ecoboost is a fantastic engine but I'm not a fan of how it sounds. I'm not crapping on the Ford, it is a nice vehicle for sure. If I was going to pull a big trailer often I would have bought the Ford because of the low end torque of the turbo. But I don't pull large trailers anymore, at least not very often. This is my opinion of course and the new 2019 Ram is much nicer than the the 2017 I bought and the 2019 Ford is still the same for the most part.
Jack Meov Yes. My last truck had a column shifter. I don't mind the shift knob at all. You get a lot more space in the center console. The shifters on the center consoles in new Ford trucks aren't connected to anything anyway, they're all computer controlled. I'd rather have the extra space. It's way more practical.
Nice to see a brand vs brand review. But, price ranges for these are insane! Let’s see the most popular trim on both. Not the “we would love to have it, but I’m never buying it” sort of thing
Excellent comparison! Very accurate and updated info here. The back to back driving experience cannot be repeated by driving at dealerships because they have different locations and takes time to hop dealer to dealer. To quickly go back and forth is priceless. Thanks!
Very nice comparison. I have a 2018 Raptor and when shopping I looked at both the F-150 Limited and RAM Limited. No question RAM interior smokes the FORD.
But you still went ahead and bought the Raptor hahah. I can't seem to get myself away from Ford. A nice interior and big nav screen takes the back seat every time to the looks of a Ford and of course the Ecoboost Engine. Sorry Ram!!
Listening to audio of vid on head-phones in a dimly lit room. Immediately looked over my shoulder. Am looking to buy a full sized truck so I appreciate this video.
Ram limited for the win!!!! Mine blows my mind ever day such a nice truck. I didn't hear him say it But the air ride is awesome, even load levels once a trailer is hooked on!!!
C Nelson My 19 limited is awesome. A lot of people commenting about this truck have never even seen one much less driven one. The 12" screen is beautiful, the colors, the clarity and ease of use. You can't beat the ride and the feel of this truck. I absolutely love the air suspension.
CDP, i bought the life time max care bumper to bumper factory warranty for $3500 when I bought the truck... Everything on the truck minus 5 wear items(brake pads, rotors, tires, wipers, battery) are covered for as long as I own the truck. 💯 deductible only. And includes free loaner vehicles for 10 years. I'll be fine😀
I completely agree with this assessment. The Ram is just all around a nicer pickup throughout the whole lineup. Some things that I do like about the ford though is the engine and it's power output. I also like the center line on the backup camera. As someone who pulls trailers every day, I can appreciate this feature. Also, I completely agree with why Ram keeps you from rolling forward when you're in drive. When I had my 2013 with the 8 speed and rotary shifter, I had a couple of instances of being parked for a while with my foot on the brake then forgetting to rotate the dial to park and getting out of the truck only to have it roll forward. The funny thing about this is that this is the only truck I've ever done this in. It has to do with the rotary shift knob. We are all so used to putting our trucks in park by pushing up on the column shifter to park that the rotary dial in a truck kind of gets forgotten about until you do it enough to become routine habit. Great video! I am warming up to this new format of TFL videos in Canada.
I’ve been driving for a long time. My taste has changed a lot over the years. I’m a medically retired airline pilot and now build custom homes. I grew up on a cattle ranch in the mountainside NM. So, trucks have been a part of my life since I was born. Today after many back surgeries and arthritis in my hands, I’ve grown to appreciate a highly adjustable seats with both heat and cooling. Heated steering wheels are a big plus on my hands that are stiff and sore, especially in the winter. I think every truck of every brand is amazing today. However I believe, from observing all the truck at our job sites.... that Ram makes the best interior seats and materials for long term wear. I drive an f-150 Platinum, weigh about 190 and the driver seat cushion has broken down significantly! Several of my trades drive rams. In every instance, the Ram interior is holding up better and in particular the leather and the seat cushions are holding up better. The ford, on the other hand, has better power train options. Now I’ve been talking about 1/2 ton trucks. Many of our trades drive 3/4 and 1-ton trucks. Ram still has a higher quality interior overall, and I really like the Ram Diesel engine. That being said, I do believe Ford still leads on the power train. For me, with these trucks hitting $60k I believe the leather, plastics and cushions need to hold up for years! Fords don’t. I just looked at s 2017 Platinum with 32000 miles and the drivers seat cushion was in pretty bad shape. The leather was ok but wrinkled heavily because the cushion had collapsed. This is especially apparent on the door side edge of the seat. I spoke with an aftermarket leather manufacturer who also sells seat cushions. They told me Ford uses soy bean oil based cushions. They believe that could be part of the issue. They also pointed out that Ford leather is thinner and cheaper grades than in the Ram. Again. I would be glad to drive any truck made today. However, I hope these companies will continue to improve the quality of the interior and exterior materials. I hope some at Ford understands that this is something that needs to be improved.
Ya can't use a hand held device but let's put a computer in your dashboard and that's ok. Why did you crash....I was changing the temperature in the truck. Lol
Parking assist off, lane keeping assistance off, brake assist off, engine stop/start off... I hate the technology on cars/trucks these days. I really appreciate that you demonstrated how bad some of them really are. Too many reviewers just say, “ah wow look at all this fantastic tech on here,” without ever showing how useless most of it is.
I am RAM all day, but much respect to both Ram and Ford. These trucks show that both automakers are at the top of their game. The F150's Limited's power and capability are unmatched in the class(2019). Ram's refinement, luxury, and intuitive features are tops. (e-Torque brings the Ram's fuel economy up to 17/23,btw). I like both trucks. It sucks to be Canadian because you can have both of these trucks in the $50s right now with a little negotiating in the U.S.
I agree with you. That's ultimately what I'm waiting to see especially for the 2019 RAM. I'd get a 5 liter Ford. Not a fan of the ecoboost personally. But we shall see!
Ty Hammond - I have both,,,, no Joke. The Ford is a gas 1/2 ton and the Ram is a diesel 1 ton. Both are fully loaded and both have there better points however the Ford feels bigger in the front VS the Ram. The Ram always seems to make me remember it being the nicer interior right up till I get back into the Ford. Over all I like them both especially for what I got each one for. The Ford was purchased as a daily driver plus for errands and the Ram was bought for towing and long trips. What’s funny is the Ford little 1/2 ton gas twin turbo vee six ecoboost doesn’t get any better mpg VS my huge one ton dually Long box four door Ram. Plus if you keep the speeds down at 65-70 the 6.7 diesel Ram will get better mpg.
Hawkins Thomas exactly. Especially since all 3 of the makers bring plenty of capability to the table Id rather now how these things are to live with day to day
Me personally ... Work Use: F-150 Weekend/Luxury Use: Ram 1500 I've owned both. That's my personal choice for these 2. Next I'll give the Silverado or Tundra a try. 😊☺😁
When you said the annoying safety features in the ram, The 2019 Ram 1500 won my heart. Safety is safety .. you will never know when you will need it. Good job Ram.
CareerFireman psychological issues? For knowing when we see a better product?? No! A psychological problem is when, you spread fake news about a shitty truck (*cough* F150) hoping someone is going to drink the kool-aid, and believe you!
So the reason the ram stops when you open the door is because there was a fatality when a guy thought he had the rotory shifter in park and went behind his Jeep, it was in reverse and killed him. It’s not on a 2500/3500 as it has the shift lever still. So rams not being overbearing, it’s avoiding a lawsuit. I edited this to add that it should be a 5.0 vs 5.7 if you wanna talk who has more hp/torque. If your gonna get the ecoboost, give the ram the etorque. Thats 110 more lb/ft then stock
Good review of the two high end options. Thanks! I've heard similar of the ride (cabin, suspension) of the 2019 RAM over the 2018 Ford. I opted for Ford due to IIHS crash test ratings, and the 2019 RAM not being available at the time. Just came back from a 10,000km+ road trip from Ontario to BC, Alberta and back, and the comfy seats, massage, and adaptive cruise were a HUGE perk! Kudos to all the manufacturers for servicing this "overpriced" segment of buyers looking for a 2 in 1 vehicle that can not only give me some of the luxury features I'm looking for in a large SUV, but the capabilities of a truck. I'm curious to see if the next high output engine will make a big enough difference that might sway me to upgrade to a 2019 Limited from my 2018 Platinum.
RAM went overboard with technology. I like Fords redundant physical controls a lot better. I might even go as far to consinder fumbeling across the 12" screen a safety issue. ;-)
I've never seen a side by side with the new Ram and the F150 but wow the Ram looks futuristic and sleeker in comparison. I do like the Raptor's styling the best out of the F150 lineup. I'll bet money that the new Ram Limited wins truck of the year easily.
Funny thing that most people that are hating on Fords don’t bring up. And that is that even in this video the guy says it multiple times. Ford had most of this technology first and now the Rams have it. They are just sitting back and waiting on fords to make something and then they wait a couple of years and try and come out with the same options but make them better. Oh and no one brought this up but wasn’t Ford the only company that didn’t take the 2008 bail out money? Dodge and Ram are both owned by Fiat. Ford had faith in the future of their products we can’t say that about Toyota, GMC or any one of the other automobile makers.
Thats every half ton truck anymore. The towing capacity difference is minimal. Also these are both top of the line and will never be used on a farm. So towing capacity and overall "truck" use is pointless with these.
Its simple. if you're buying the truck for the luxury of it, buy the RAM. If you're buying it because you care for the "truck" aspect of it instead, buy F150. RAM can't beat F150's practicality so they pivoted to class leading luxury instead.
It's not that simple. The Ram is also a good pick for those that want a proper pickup with a V8, it's plenty capable. The F150 only has a real significant difference if you want the 3.5 Ecoboost. Though the 2019 Limited will get the Raptor engine which while powerful, gets Tundra mpg.
5.0 is nice Engine but the Ford is a light truck. F150 with 5.0 is 5.7secs 0-60 I believe. But the new Ram isn't far behind 6.1 0-60 while having a steel body except the hood and tailgate.
I am amazed by the evolution of the interiors in vehicles in the past 5 years. The F150 interior is really is 5 model years old now (15,16,17,18, and 19 now). When it came out in late 14 it was amazing and nice. Just 5 models years later it is now "Cheap" looking. If the big three are not investing in interior engineering right now, they will regret it. That is what is going to sell trucks for the near future.
Wanted an F-150, but because it's the "number one selling truck in America" I had no negotiating leverage. I spent 4 hours trying to work out a deal on a frickin' Lariat and got nowhere; not to mention they were trying to work me over on my trade-in as well. Usually you get something on one or the other. Then we ended up at a Ram dealer the next day looking for a Laramie and ended up with a Limited. By the time you get all the options and crap added it just makes sense to step up. They also gave me a killer deal that was a lot better than Ford was willing to do for a Lariat AND they hooked me up on the trade-in. I came out about $12K cheaper for a truck that is damn near as nice as the XJ I traded in on it. As for the air suspension I'm not totally sold on it. I understand that it's a truck and I am coming from daily driving a fairly new Jag, but it's still a bit on the harsh side when you drive on these horrific roads around here. I also thought that the F-150 ecoboost and that 10 speed is amazing, but the 4.7 Hemi with the 8 speed seems more than good enough. The 12" screen is a game changer in my opinion, but the 19 speaker system does not sound as good as it should. It's so bass heavy and it's not even like it's pleasant bass; it's boxy and boomy and there is a big hole in the midrange. Apparently there are system updates that may fix it, but I'm just sitting here wondering if I didn't just buy an expensive smartphone with wheels that is going to have buggy ass apps that I need to constantly update to make it work. It is a nice vehicle though.
Tell Ram to tell Ford thank you for pushing them to step their interior and features up. Ford has been the better luxury truck for years. Ram was just redone so they got a chance to do it big. I'm not a huge fan of the plastic and huge bezel around the F150's screen. However, the Ford has the power and capability that I would want and still is hella luxury.
My uncles 2014 Ram 1500 already has multiple spots with significant amounts of rust. He couldn't remove the tire jack and lug key because the bolt holding it down was rusted to the frame.
Now that you mention it...where i work a guy g=has a RAM about the same age as my Taco and the RAM rockers are already perforated thru....not that good....rest of the truck still looks fairly new...not the rockers tho.
Ptguy0618 true and plus im happy they still gonna have the classic body ram .now im just waiting on the two door hellcat versions they talking about coming out with
Nba Trill I had a 2011 ram hit 220,000km and no squeaks in my interior truck was 7 yrs old the interiors in my opinion hold better than ford and especially chevy
I am a Ford guy but that is one hell of a luxury barge in the Ram. If I won the Lottery I would get the Ram over the F150. With the airbags and the more luxurious interior it is the more comfortable truck, however I'm not going to be getting either one of these, lol.
Great review...really solid. I like the Ram most but would be hesitant to purchase either. If I were to buy a pickup I’m 95% sure I’d buy a Tundra. Low Tech, Low amenities, old design and all.
Please, enlighten me on how a Porsche is better than one of these luxury trucks? It's faster? Bragging rights? Because those are the only two reasons I can think of. These trucks can carry up to 6 people, pull trailers, are good for both on and off-roading, can haul way more things than your traditional trunk, all while looking slick and stylish. Can a Porsche do any of those things?
Well, it seems FCA has really upped their game in many different areas and the public is waiting for a proper response from Ford & Chevy which seems to be no where in sight !! FCA is knocking out home runs while the competition is just barely getting on base !! From the wheelie popping 840 HP drag-strip Dodge Demon to the new 797 HP Dodge HellCat Red Eye, all the way to this new Ram truck line up, FCA is doing a great job keeping it's ear to the street while delivering mind blowing products !! Got to be Loving Dodge !!!
Looks like the F 150 won in all categories that matter on a full sized truck (power/torque, tow/payload capacity, fuel economy, larger fuel tank, trailer assist, etc..). Why buy a truck for luxury features when you can actually buy a real luxury vehicle? The 2019 F 150 Limited will have the new Raptor's twin turbo V6 which will further distance itself from the Ram in the power department.
Jason Harrison Comfort does count for something, but it should be secondary to tow/payload capacity, power/torque, fuel economy, etc...when your talking about full sized trucks. Buy a luxury SUV if you want a fancy interior.
Very thorough review with great highlights on the features of the trucks. I will never say the Ram is not a "nice truck" because it is still the most luxurious truck on the market (yes, the interior of the Ram Limited/Longhorn will always be better than the Denali/High Country). But when purchasing my truck, the F150 Platinum won the bid by offering because the trim level below the Limited offers the FX4 and Max Tow packages. That sealed the bid for me.
I'm not a brand junky , I take a realistic approach to all my purchases and what feel best for my family and my self. And I just baught my second ram . I had a big horn then decided I want a truck with a little more features. Shopped around Toyota, ford, ram, gmc etc. And got my second ram this time a sport. Pricey ? Yes !! Love it ? Yes , I live in Alberta seems like truck country and I've seen every truck possible and Cummins diesel and ram sport are sought after trucks round here there quailtity
the thing i don't like about the rams 12 inch screen is that all the controls are on that screen. if the screen gets buggy or goes out completely, you lose all the stereo and climate functions.
I agree. My old GMC runs and drives great. 2004 model and just last week had to replace the original front shocks. The rears are still good. Called Crutchfield and got a new JVC stereo with bluetooth for $100. I'm modern now...lol. I'll get 10 more years out of this truck.
I am with you man, I can afford either one of these trucks. The sad part is most people don't realize each manufacturer only has about 17,0000.00 - $19,000.00 in each truck. These companies have some very large salaries they have to cover. I know Ford Executives run about 50 million per year(google). But common sense tell you that with the incentives and rebate all the manufacturer are running these days is because of slow sales, and there is money to spare, and they are not giving these rebates for the fun of it. I live in Georgia and I saw my first 2019 Ram on the lot in the last week of March. I look for the Rams all the time and I have only counted 19 on the road myself. Yes I know there are lots more out there but from March to October I thought would have counted more than 19, and I know they had to keep the rebates on the 2018 to get rid of them. However for the last two months there is a dealership in Winder GA running $8000.00 - $12,000.00 off on Ram Big Horn / Long Star / Laramie crew cabs. I called The dealer and they are telling these are not gimmick rebates. If it read $12,000.00 you get $12,000.00 These high prices are slowing down the sales. And don't worry they are NOT losing money on the trucks with these incentives and rebates. On 10/06/18 I visited a Chevrolet dealership and the salesperson told me they took 32% off of a 2018 Silverado LT Z71 4x4. The same dealership offer me $14,000.00 off on a similar truck in the last week of May. As of 10/06/18 that truck was still on the lot. For the naysayers they don't build 1 truck a day. There is reason they call it a production line.
You mentioned Ram steering being heavier but it is lighter to me than than my 2014 Ram. Used to like Ford steering but really I find it just too light. I like the heavier steering in my Ram especially when Towing. F150 feels great at low speed though.
Kareem Kirton Its still Dodge just not sold under the dodge name. Its built in a Chrysler factory and still sold at a dodge dealership. They just made ram it's own brand but to anybody that's known rams long enough know it's still a dodge.
If they would have compared 2019 to 2019 ford would have won hands down, the 2019 limited f150 gets the raptor motor. They had to get an older one for the ram to win!!
Ram wins again! Love it. I dropped Ford then GM and owning a large fleet I've found the Ram gives me way more bang for the buck and is engineered better.
as soon as dude said "From ford the engine sound is pumped in and it's fake" or something along the lines of that. My jaw dropped and I made up my mind on which truck I'd get. I honestly never knew that. I used to be a ford guy, then I grew up. lol
ItchyTriggerFinger 76 see the thing about Rams is, you can’t get any resale value from them. As a truck they’re pretty good, but unlike a ford or a Chevy, you can’t take it in to the dealer after 10 years and get any amount for it. At least in my experience
I’m a through and through Ford guy and I also live in South Africa where neither of these trucks are sold, but I will say that RAM looks damn sexy inside and out, Ford has their work cut out for them. If I were choosing between the two it would be an extremely tough decision, that new RAM is mighty convincing. The only non Ford vehicle I would buy is a Jeep because I have a soft spot for Jeeps and Jeep is part of FCA just like RAM is, it’s basically the same brand so I guess it counts right? Over here in South Africa the battle is between the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux. I see you guys will soon be getting the Ranger, congrats.
Take the word of someone that's had both a Dodge Ram and an F150. FCA's quality is horrendous! All their vehicles are rated at the bottom of the barrel in quality. Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Fiat, Ram...none of them are very good vehicles.
King Daniel I wouldn’t go as far as saying none of them are any good, my dad has a 2012 Grand Cherokee WK2 and I have personally put quite a few miles on that baby, I’ve spent a lot of time with it, I love that car, I did notice one or two minor quality control issues but nothing too major and nothing that would be out of place or possibly missed by another brand’s quality control. I see similar minor issues like that on the two Fords I’ve owned and the several Toyota Hiluxs my dad owns. Nothing is made perfectly. I think many years ago your statement would have been a lot more true than it is today. I’ve had a proper look at the new Wrangler JL and latest Grand Cherokees and it looks like they’ve taken the quality control a major step up and the 2012 one wasn’t bad at all to begin with. I think pre-2010 is where a lot of the major quality control issues were showing up, maybe that’s the time you owned one, they’ve definitely slowly been upping their game in the last 8 years. I think this new RAM and the new Wrangler JL are looking to change people’s perception of FCA, I’d defiantly give them another shot and I’d definitely buy that new wrangler if I had the money and somewhere to park it.
King Daniel Look, I don’t want to get into a discussion about this, you sound more like an irritated Ford fanboy that just wants to talk trash about the other brand. I’m a Ford guy myself but I don’t trash other brands, the Grand Cherokee is the most awarded SUV ever and when I visited Canada last year, specifically Vancouver, British Colombia I saw a ton more RAMs on the road than anything else. I also noticed that there’s a lot more Brand specific fanboys on your side of the world, I was waking around all sorts of dealerships over there just geeking out, I was wearing my Ford Performance cap, you should have seen the looks I got in the Chevy dealership, nobody even wanted to greet me, it was hilarious. If you really did own a RAM at one point and aren’t just saying that to try and credit your point then judging by the picture on your channel of an older F-150, you must have had your RAM before that Ford. You had one of the older ones, pre-2010. (I’m speculating here) But if I’m right then your point is very valid, the quality back then wasn’t as good, but neither of us can say anything about the quality of this new RAM, its a brand new product, it will have to prove itself over time. Nobody can deny that RAM put a lot of effort into this new truck, it’s very apparent, theres a lot of attention to detail inside and out, and if you can’t see that then you’re just a blind fanboy.
No. You posted on a public forum. You want a discussion. What you mean to say is that you're not interested in what I'm saying. It's not just my word, as I said before, look it up. A simple search will show you article after article, year after year from magazines and experts galore of how poor the quality is on Dodges and Jeeps. But, you're not interested, so you're not going to look them up. I could simply post some links for you, but then, you're not interested, so why waste our time and my energy. There is something that we can both agree on though, I don't want to talk to you anymore either. Despite your repeated declarations otherwise, you sound like an irritated fanboy yourself. Good day.
Ford still my way! Guys remember its a 2018 vs a 2019. Ford F150 2018 is better than Rams 2018. Just have to wait and see what the 2019 F150 brings and not to mention 2020 is going be a big, big and big year for Ford.
Actually 2019 ford will NOT be the same, the 2019 f150 limited gets the raptor ecoboost 450hp 510 ft lbs of torque....would destroy that ram which is why they didn’t compare the same year
The 2019 F150 Limited gets the high output 3.5 EcoBoost engine, dual exhaust, and a suede headliner. Yes, 2020 will be big. I know for a fact Ford has a response to the Ram's 12 inch display in 2020.
WQQKIE I sold an ‘04 F-150 last year that had 192K miles and still didn’t leak a drop of oil and ran like a top. Take care of anything and it’ll always last.
Will never buy new after getting a 2014 Ram Outdoorsman CC with a 6’4 bed, 8.4” screen good sound system and only 62,000 miles on it. Tows up to 10,300 and fits in my garage. Love it. Even drove a 2013 Ford F-150 Ext cab with only 61,000 miles. New trucks today are way too pricey.
I'm a Ford guy but that Ram does look awesome! I can't afford either truck so I'll just say to those watching who can afford them I think you'll do great with either one. I'll just keep driving my 2000 F-150 and look at yours with envy while I put that payment in my savings account.
While I enjoy the driving experience of the twin turbo F150, when the trucks get to the 100K mark the naturally aspirated Hemi is truckin' along...but at my shop I've seen Ecoboosts that have had "one of your turbo's is leaking and needs to be replaced" issues.
David Hobbs Got my ‘18 Raptor in March and am so glad too. With some mods I’m pushing about 525 HP. The problem with the Ram is that it’s always been a Dodge.
Jonathan congrats on the Raptor. I own a 4month old Raptor. Mind telling me what you are using for mods. Please and thank you in advance. Cheers Milo 🍻🍻🍻
i love the looks of this truck. I especially love the steering wheel. Its obvious that it is epoxy on top and bottom and that is a lasting wheel especially in Arizona where that black leather will go to hell in one year on other trucks. I hope its an option on cheaper Ram trucks.
While the RAM is one stunning truck the F 150 is up there.....Given the issues starting to be reported reflecting the poor QC RAM is famous for, in my case, I'll be reserving judgement on just how great it is...my money still goes to the well discounted and better proven track record Ford.
I have had a couple of Rams since 2013 and can tell you that each one has been flawless in regards to fit and finish as well as cabin and dash squeaks. I ride on farm roads and rough roads pulling trailers and these have been the best trucks by far I have ever owned. They have also been the most reliable trucks having spent less time in the shop and costing me the least amount of money to maintain.
Ford are the less reliable truck if u want a reliable get a chevy z71 with the 6.2 don’t trust is a paper good luck ram looks better but their tranny is so bad
RAM looks fine from outside and unbelievably gorgeous from inside but unfortunately it’s durability is always questioned. F-150 is fine from outside and looks cheap from inside and this goes to all Ford vehicles however durability is excellent.
2016 ford mustang has common ac evaporator problems where they have to remove the whole dash $2000. Plus the screen sometimes doesnt play bluetooth music and freezes until you turn it off and on.
Justin Higgins I agree with you. The 5.4 and the 4.6 were junk engines. I went through 2 of each. I haven’t been hearing great experiences with the new eco boost either.
You should of mentioned how the ram has 4corner air suspension which is standard on the limited it comes in handy raising the trucks ground clearance to also attach your hitch
Philip Wood, if money is no object there are a couple supercharger options. I believe they there’s one that won’t interfere with the warrantee as well. May not yet be available on this gen.
I had a 2006 Dakota, bought new. Front end basically fell apart at 30,000km. I'd be willing to give RAM a chance, but I'm going to have see long term quality followup on this new model and not just how nice the interior looks.
The prices of these trucks are getting out of control!
Cars And Zebras 👍🏻
I mean no one is forcing to buy em.
High end trucks. No vinyl floors here.
Omg. 4:52 Who is breathing so hard? Somebody give that guy some oxygen.
Stephen Y somebody was busting a nut
JustJay 0312 lol good one. Talk about lusting after that big screen!
JustJay 0312 haha. I know this truck is orgasmic but daaaammmnnnn.
Didn’t notice that until I read this, but your right wow, heavy breathing lol....😂😂😂
Watching this at 3am and I hear heavy breathing, I pause the video and it’s gone, then play the vid and it’s back. Scared me bro
I'm a hard core Ford guy, Ram takes this one fair and square.
Depends what you are looking for. I love both trucks, the deciding factor for me, which no one seems to mention...the aluminum Ford will deter rusting. In Iowa that is huge. #1 culprit of resale value... rust!
Really liking that TFL is posting almost daily. Hope that trend keeps going.
Great Review. Now lets see a review between the Ram Big Horn and the Ford F150 XLT the more mainstream models that more people can afford.
Yes
You're actually wrong there. The XL is the base model. The Long Horn and the Big Horn are two separate models. XL-> Tradesman, XLT-> Big Horn, Lariat-> Laramie, Raptor-> Rebel, King Ranch-> Laramie Long Horn, Platinum-> N/A, Limited-> Limited
SilverRaven1959 Big Horn, not Long Horn.
EastCoastATV what did you end up paying out the door for your truck. I’ve got a 2016 f150 but I’m thinking about getting a new one.
EastCoastATV you don’t lose the value with The Ford though
I got my ram sport for $43,000 out the door the ford would have cost me $60,000 it's a no brainer lol
EastCoastATV so I'm guessing ur new to the twist knob as well?
Thanks!
That blue leather is awful
doit I thought I was the only one to think so. It looks like it came out of a 1988 Town Car.
My thoughts exactly!!! Blue is my favorite color but those seats are hideous!!
doit nah your wrong. I guess you don't like leather in anything but brown ay?
Timothy Clark Why brown? Why not black or gray leather? Brown looks terrible in any vehicle.
Yea, I'm not a fan either. I think that's why Ford changed it for 2019.
2019 RAM did a very good job, I begin to warm up to it!
Very nice comparison. I have a 2018 Raptor and when shopping I looked at both the F-150 Limited and RAM Limited. No question RAM interior smokes the FORD.
Also the ram carries more weight Han the 2019 f-150
Wow be thankful for you raptor! The f150 raptor is still the best truck on the market
Matthew Wideman personally I’d take a powerwagon instead any day but that’s just personal preference.
But you still went ahead and bought the Raptor hahah. I can't seem to get myself away from Ford. A nice interior and big nav screen takes the back seat every time to the looks of a Ford and of course the Ecoboost Engine. Sorry Ram!!
I definitely prefer the Ram, although I can't afford either one like you. ;)
jedironin380 how does ur comment say "posted a week ago" when the video was published today. UA-cam black magic?
Rodney Tehrani lmaooo didn't even see that
TFL Magic! I think they occasionally edit or update their videos, then re-post them. That's how you get older videos with a newer date on it. ;)
jedironin380 👍🏻🙂
With a goal and executing a plan, you can eventually afford whatever you want. It starts with mindset.
What is that creepy heavy breathing sound at 4:50? Lol. Love the video, but that caught me off guard.
Rodney Tehrani thought i was the only one lol.
😂😂😂😂
its the AC.
Listening to audio of vid on head-phones in a dimly lit room. Immediately looked over my shoulder.
Am looking to buy a full sized truck so I appreciate this video.
It made me hard... anyone else? lol
The nicest half ton period!!!! Gotta love it 😍 Mopar for the win
Mopar or no car
WTH! the F150 looks a decade older in ergonomics compared to the RAM!
Ram limited for the win!!!! Mine blows my mind ever day such a nice truck. I didn't hear him say it But the air ride is awesome, even load levels once a trailer is hooked on!!!
C Nelson 👍🏻🙂
The air bags are the only redeeming, dominant feature on fca ram.
C Nelson My 19 limited is awesome. A lot of people commenting about this truck have never even seen one much less driven one. The 12" screen is beautiful, the colors, the clarity and ease of use. You can't beat the ride and the feel of this truck. I absolutely love the air suspension.
C Nelson, Let us know how nice that "air ride" is when it`s time for repairs.
I like the Exterior and Performance Of the Ford but the Interior and Technology of the Ram, perfection would be a mix between the two
I’ve been driving for a long time.
Lol
Mitch Reive ah you can actually talk to the system and tell it to change the temperature FYI
I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to do this while moving officially either.
Mitch Reive There's also actual physical temp control knobs on the outside of the screen.
Mitch Reive cars turn off these options when moving
Excellent Point
Parking assist off, lane keeping assistance off, brake assist off, engine stop/start off... I hate the technology on cars/trucks these days.
I really appreciate that you demonstrated how bad some of them really are. Too many reviewers just say, “ah wow look at all this fantastic tech on here,” without ever showing how useless most of it is.
Hogh308 dumbing down people further progresses. One day people won’t be able to pick their nose on their own.
It adds nothing . The lane assist and other things are just ignored or turned off.
The RAM looks 10X better than the Ford. Let's wait and see how the quality is over time.
Love it how this video was completly unbiased against both trucks, yet when you scroll into the comments its nothing but dodge vs ford.
Good review, it's nice to have a review that doesn't just compare towing and payload numbers.
Hawkins Thomas exactly. Especially since all 3 of the makers bring plenty of capability to the table Id rather now how these things are to live with day to day
Me personally ...
Work Use: F-150
Weekend/Luxury Use: Ram 1500
I've owned both. That's my personal choice for these 2. Next I'll give the Silverado or Tundra a try.
😊☺😁
That AutoPark is not annoying, they put it there so they wouldnt get sued if the truck runs you over.
turshin e-brakes are soooooo 1950s. /sarcasm
When you said the annoying safety features in the ram, The 2019 Ram 1500 won my heart. Safety is safety .. you will never know when you will need it. Good job Ram.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FORD PLEASE REMOVE THAT LIMITED BADGING ON THE FRONT HOOD !!!!
Dave Wolly Is that disgusting or what!!?
Fishing line and a hair dryer then alcohol to clean residue and you’re good to go
JustJay 0312 not a good idea for the resale value.
Dave Wolly I'm going to have to disagree with you here. I think it looks great and is another way to differentiate from lesser trims.
I actually like it. Looks classy. More makes should do that on all their vehicles
I wish TFL would do more reviews on trim levels that more of us can actually afford.
Looks like Ford will have to up their game or they will lose that number one spot to Ram
CareerFireman #1 in breaking down!
Nahhhh FCA will always be 3rd to Ford and Chevy but they did do a good job.
CareerFireman wow, you Ford fanboys really do have reading comprehension problems!
CareerFireman psychological issues? For knowing when we see a better product?? No! A psychological problem is when, you spread fake news about a shitty truck (*cough* F150) hoping someone is going to drink the kool-aid, and believe you!
John Doe There’s nothing fake about Ford being number one! It’s been that way 40+ years.
That Blue Interior is Fugly! Flashback to 1985
Good review of the two high end options.
I might even go as far to consinder fumbeling across the 12" screen a safety issue. ;-)
Hoimar von Ditfuth- Siefken ram has redundant physical controls as well.
Stfu Boomer
Ram the controls on the screen and physical buttons
@JMax 01 well in guess your right if you like riding your girl in a rust bucket!
I've never seen a side by side with the new Ram and the F150 but wow the Ram looks futuristic and sleeker in comparison. I do like the Raptor's styling the best out of the F150 lineup.
I'll bet money that the new Ram Limited wins truck of the year easily.
Could we see some more base model reviews
Funny thing that most people that are hating on Fords don’t bring up. And that is that even in this video the guy says it multiple times. Ford had most of this technology first and now the Rams have it. They are just sitting back and waiting on fords to make something and then they wait a couple of years and try and come out with the same options but make them better. Oh and no one brought this up but wasn’t Ford the only company that didn’t take the 2008 bail out money? Dodge and Ram are both owned by Fiat. Ford had faith in the future of their products we can’t say that about Toyota, GMC or any one of the other automobile makers.
The ram isnt a truck anymore it. Its a car suv with a bed. Instead of showing how they look let see what that can do on a farm
Thats every half ton truck anymore. The towing capacity difference is minimal. Also these are both top of the line and will never be used on a farm. So towing capacity and overall "truck" use is pointless with these.
They have John Deere tractors for the farm
Loved the video , i seen the ram in person and i have to say it looks amazing
Its simple. if you're buying the truck for the luxury of it, buy the RAM.
If you're buying it because you care for the "truck" aspect of it instead, buy F150.
RAM can't beat F150's practicality so they pivoted to class leading luxury instead.
Yep. Depends if you want show or go.
Necrotic Reaper the 5.0 v8 for ford is also a pretty damn badass engine as well.
BUILT DIESEL MAFIA the 5.0 is faster in a race than the 5.7 too
5.0 is nice Engine but the Ford is a light truck.
Love this guy's reviews
Well, the Ford also has better quality, better reliability, better safety...
Ram just took over!! Better truck all around!
My uncles 2014 Ram 1500 already has multiple spots with significant amounts of rust. He couldn't remove the tire jack and lug key because the bolt holding it down was rusted to the frame.
I guess RAM means Rusting Away in Minutes.
Now that you mention it...where i work a guy g=has a RAM about the same age as my Taco and the RAM rockers are already perforated thru....not that good....rest of the truck still looks fairly new...not the rockers tho.
I like this new Ram truck but my concern is quality. Is it going to start squeaking in 2 months like my Town and Country?
but every generation of ram squeak i think that the downfall of ram i hoped the fixed it with 2019
Ptguy0618 true and plus im happy they still gonna have the classic body ram .now im just waiting on the two door hellcat versions they talking about coming out with
My 2014 Ram is still good as new, not one sqeek or rattle and the thing still looks new. I'm upgrading to a 2019 for the bigger cab.
Stephen Y yes
Nba Trill I had a 2011 ram hit 220,000km and no squeaks in my interior truck was 7 yrs old the interiors in my opinion hold better than ford and especially chevy
This 5232 pound truck with a 5.7L V8 and 395 HP gets exactly the same fuel economy as the 4290 pound Jeep Liberty with a 3.7L V6 and 210 HP. Amazing!
Dodge Ram interior is making Ford F-150 interior look so outdated lol
I am a Ford guy but that is one hell of a luxury barge in the Ram. If I won the Lottery I would get the Ram over the F150. With the airbags and the more luxurious interior it is the more comfortable truck, however I'm not going to be getting either one of these, lol.
Great review...really solid. I like the Ram most but would be hesitant to purchase either. If I were to buy a pickup I’m 95% sure I’d buy a Tundra. Low Tech, Low amenities, old design and all.
I priced a Tundra out at 50 grand...burn a lot of gas for 30 000 dollars and maybe way less repairs too.
Excellent review imo, but I didn't hear about payload and towing capabilities..did I miss that?
Oh my god. $85,000??? I can get a Porsche for that.
A Porsche is garbage compared to this.
C.T. Productions Hmmm, I drink a lot on Sunday’s too
I'd love to see you try and tow a trailer with your Porsche
Jason Harrison that’s what I have my 2018 Ram for. I’m just making comparisons man
Please, enlighten me on how a Porsche is better than one of these luxury trucks?
Imagine that pricetag! But a 1/2 ton luxury giving the 6.2L a real run for the money!
Because some people spend many hours in their truck and dont push the engine or tow limits to the limit. Comfort counts for something.
Jason Harrison Comfort does count for something, but it should be secondary to tow/payload capacity, power/torque, fuel economy, etc...when your talking about full sized trucks. Buy a luxury SUV if you want a fancy interior.
Chris M. Are you high?!?!? The ram feels better towing any ways.
Chris M. I’ve owned both
Such a quality reviewer/auto-journalist. Watched you over on autoguide and I was always watching the whole video.
im a ford guy but ram shhhhhh boom... gorgeous 🤘😎
DJ POLYSTAR Ram is bad ass
Yes.. All those recalls are gorgeous
@@velboone6041 they all have recalls
D.E.P H MC. Lol my fords at work have double the recalls of my ram.
@@ryanbowers5799 crazy
I’m a gm guy but that ram look beautiful
Ford is very disappointing to 2014 2018 look the same
Very thorough review with great highlights on the features of the trucks.
If I recall, there's an option in the settings menu to turn off the auto parking brake
NOLAItsNotOva He showed us that
Philip Wood For the auto braking for parksense in the rear. I meant the auto parking brake for when the door is open while the truck is in Drive
He also missed the fact that you can make the camera fill the whole screen.
Ford INVENTED Recalls.
And RAM invented Crap
SteelCity1981 you still have physical climate control buttons on the sides. And I believe there’s volume and tuner knobs on the bottom sides.
Both of those systems have redundant hard keys.
Exactly why I’d never ever buy one, look at the 2019 Denali 1500, most buttoned up vehicle I’ve ever seen, buttons everywhere, love it.
Exactly I was worried about that
Theres physical buttons for climate control and radio.
Bro these two are my dream vehicles and i know one day I’m getting one of them no doubt about it
The Ford blue interior is ugly
Chris Browne looks like bus seats
Chris Browne the previous generation one had better looking seats
Another difference I have noticed is the Ford does not have front park sensors. The Ram does. Both have cameras but both don’t beep.
with all this tech, which is eventually going to fail and the price --my old truck is getting worth more everyday!!!!
However for the last two months there is a dealership in Winder GA
running $8000.00 - $12,000.00 off on Ram Big Horn / Long Star / Laramie crew cabs. I called
The dealer and they are telling these are not gimmick rebates. If it read $12,000.00 you get
$12,000.00
These high prices are slowing down the sales.
1987 called... They want their blue leather back
I think the blue is for all the poor leaf fans....hockey team sucks but maybe the truck doesn"t.
Dumbass. It was vinyl in 1987.
You mentioned Ram steering being heavier but it is lighter to me than than my 2014 Ram. Used to like Ford steering but really I find it just too light. I like the heavier steering in my Ram especially when Towing. F150 feels great at low speed though.
Ram wins this showdown comparison just shown that Ram is better than Ford and that my opinion with all due respect...
Huss Salman 👍🏻
Huss Salman it's true, airbags make for better towing mpg and unladen ride!
Ram is no longer owned by dodge hence the enhancements
Kareem Kirton Its still Dodge just not sold under the dodge name. Its built in a Chrysler factory and still sold at a dodge dealership. They just made ram it's own brand but to anybody that's known rams long enough know it's still a dodge.
If they would have compared 2019 to 2019 ford would have won hands down, the 2019 limited f150 gets the raptor motor. They had to get an older one for the ram to win!!
I love both trucks. I'm a Ford guy. I'd honestly like to have both.... The price tag for both is insane.
Ram wins again! Love it. I dropped Ford then GM and owning a large fleet I've found the Ram gives me way more bang for the buck and is engineered better.
Wait till you try to resell them. Youre in for a big surprise
Another awesome review Stephen! Your love of trucks shines through
Hands down RAM (No money in the hand though)
Don K 🤣😂
No.
as soon as dude said "From ford the engine sound is pumped in and it's fake" or something along the lines of that. My jaw dropped and I made up my mind on which truck I'd get. I honestly never knew that. I used to be a ford guy, then I grew up. lol
Money is never spent well on a dodge.
Never.
But it is on a Ram lol.
Never has it been on a Ford.
ItchyTriggerFinger 76 nah. I’m a Chevy guy but ford isn’t bad
Major Kong Worked on many a fords in my day. And will take a Ram over a Ford any day of the week.
Look them up. Bottom of the barrel. They still have new 2017 models that they can't sell, people don't want them.
@Kb custom designs think the 2019 F150 will get more than an engine upgrade
Actually 2019 ford will NOT be the same, the 2019 f150 limited gets the raptor ecoboost 450hp 510 ft lbs of torque....would destroy that ram which is why they didn’t compare the same year
Ben Mingus lmao yeah lookup rams new hellcat ram goodluck ford and chevy
The 2019 F150 Limited gets the high output 3.5 EcoBoost engine, dual exhaust, and a suede headliner. Yes, 2020 will be big. I know for a fact Ford has a response to the Ram's 12 inch display in 2020.
I bet real world testing will show ram has better fuel economy. Good video tho, glad to see ram picking up the interior.
Dodge has screwed me in the past . I don't trust them! I've had ford and Toyota no problems with either one.
Kennth Bennett Ford will give you issues after awhile. If you plan on keeping a vehicle long term, I would stick to Toyota.
WQQKIE I sold an ‘04 F-150 last year that had 192K miles and still didn’t leak a drop of oil and ran like a top. Take care of anything and it’ll always last.
Kennth Bennett that’s good but dodge isn’t part of ram
Will never buy new after getting a 2014 Ram Outdoorsman CC with a 6’4 bed, 8.4” screen good sound system and only 62,000 miles on it. Tows up to 10,300 and fits in my garage. Love it. Even drove a 2013 Ford F-150 Ext cab with only 61,000 miles. New trucks today are way too pricey.
Remember though 2018 vs 2019
I'm a Ford guy but that Ram does look awesome! I can't afford either truck so I'll just say to those watching who can afford them I think you'll do great with either one. I'll just keep driving my 2000 F-150 and look at yours with envy while I put that payment in my savings account.
the inside of the ram is like a tesla
While I enjoy the driving experience of the twin turbo F150, when the trucks get to the 100K mark the naturally aspirated Hemi is truckin' along...but at my shop I've seen Ecoboosts that have had "one of your turbo's is leaking and needs to be replaced" issues.
So glad I bought a Raptor, for slightly less than the Ram. Oh yeah 450HP. Ram front end styling looks like a Japanese minivan.
It's nowhere close to look like the Odyssey.
Team Raptor baby!! I own a 2017 one.
Those new engines in the new raptors sound like shit. Prefer the 6.2 v8
Anyone who is buying this truck isn’t someone who’s actually using a truck as a truck. Don’t kid yourself.
RAM NATION....
i love the looks of this truck.
Troy Power i only buy fords that are made up to 1996, no later.
Troy Power wait till 2020 for the new gen f150, dodge will be shit again
I have had a couple of Rams since 2013 and can tell you that each one has been flawless in regards to fit and finish as well as cabin and dash squeaks. I ride on farm roads and rough roads pulling trailers and these have been the best trucks by far I have ever owned. They have also been the most reliable trucks having spent less time in the shop and costing me the least amount of money to maintain.
Lol Ford fanboy
ford has just as many problems as the rest. don't believe all those fake reviews u read. most are paid for by the auto maker
This is by far the best review I ever came across
Don't care about the rams interior, I'll take the ford for reliablity, i actually use my trucks for work and daily use
You say that as if RAM's aren't used for work and daily use...
C.T. Productions there's a reason Ford and GM are the best selling brands in America(1-ford,2-GM) and have the best selling trucks in America
Ford had the first $100K pickup.
Also I don't see what you people are complaining about, you don't need the top-spec model.
Ford are the less reliable truck if u want a reliable get a chevy z71 with the 6.2 don’t trust is a paper good luck ram looks better but their tranny is so bad
@Myballsitchsomethingfierce Not me, i own a 2017 ltz z71, but i would take the ford ONLY with the 5.0
Thanks for the review Luke Combs
I like the Canadian built one.
Nice review always impressed with TFL team love you guys 👍🏻💪🏻✌🏼🙏🏼
RAM looks fine from outside and unbelievably gorgeous from inside but unfortunately it’s durability is always questioned.
F-150 is fine from outside and looks cheap from inside and this goes to all Ford vehicles however durability is excellent.
Hamed Al-Shammari nice typical “I’ve never owned either truck but subscribe to internet fake news bs” comment
2016 ford mustang has common ac evaporator problems where they have to remove the whole dash $2000. Plus the screen sometimes doesnt play bluetooth music and freezes until you turn it off and on.
I’ve had 3 f-150’s all had problems. I switched over to ram in 2015 and have had no problems. 75k miles and no issues.
Idk I've been seeing a lot of 20 year old rams still running around. Them old fords are getting hard to see. Even the old chevys are disappearing.
Ram wins....Just think if the hemi had a turbo....
Philip Wood, if money is no object there are a couple supercharger options. I believe they there’s one that won’t interfere with the warrantee as well. May not yet be available on this gen.
Cobber RIPP
Hell even if Ram would put the 6.4(SRT grade) in the Ram....whew!
Why would you put a turbo on a nearly 50 year old engine?
We can "if" things to death. But it doesnt matter. It doesnt nor will it ever have a turbo. Fords 3.5 ecoboost eats its lunch.
I had a 2006 Dakota, bought new. Front end basically fell apart at 30,000km. I'd be willing to give RAM a chance, but I'm going to have see long term quality followup on this new model and not just how nice the interior looks.
