Overall I would go with the f150 and yes the shifter has to be in the middle and no don't want no dial shifter. At this price point I actually can't wait to see you guys review the Rivian or cybertruck. Much as I love my f150 I think it's time to try a none traditional manufacturer.
If it was just about interior it would be Ram but Ford kicked it up and the upcoming hand & feet free option and towing power is what put will probably put me in an F150 hybrid.
As for me, I've owned 5 Fords. 3 were F150s, 2 were Super Dutys. I've owned a 1500 GMC Sierra Denali, and a 2500 Silverado HD. They were all nice trucks but they all had they're flaws of factory recalls or issues unique to them. My 99 SD went through three 5.4l engines and two transmissions and at 89,000 miles I got rid of it. I had always used synthetic oil and changed it faithfully. That was the first year of the superduty and horsepower had been increased in the following years but my 5.4 was mated to a 4:10 rear axle ratio and the truck was just to heavy for the motor when plowing or hauling heavy loads. That's just an example. The silverado had brake lines rust out prematurely. Now I own a 2020 Ram 1500 4x4 Crew and I've got to say I'm impressed and I've owned it for a solid year. I'm sure it will have it's unique issues at some point also but that said, I don't see the need to spend an extra $10,000 for the Ford issues over the Rams. And if I decide to haul a trailer over 11,000 lbs, I'll go to an HD model. When spending in the vicinity of $50,000, I give a good hard look at them all. At 66 years old, I've had some experience and in my opinion, the Ram is without a doubt the best bang for the buck. The ride is amazing. The 5.7 non-electric motor mated with the 3:92 rear axle and the 8 speed transmission is all the power I will need and I love the sound of the Hemi over the ecoboost. As far as which truck is the fastest off the line, trust me,the Ram is no slouch! With that said, who buys a brand new expensive factory truck to race? If you do, your special. The gimic of the fold down shift handle on the ford, that can not be folded down while driving is a useless feature to me. I love the Rams knob shifter that leaves the console open for use while driving. So which of these trucks would I take home? The Ram! And that's exactly what I did! No regrets!
I like RAM more and during last three months have been busy on watching videos of comparison these two trucks. Engine sound, two exhausts, interior, engine all made me go for RAM
@@spud2727 Ya, I had my share of rust and mechanical issues with the Fords and GM's also. So potAtoe, potatoe as they say. None of them are made to last. I built Jet engines for over 32 years. They were built for millions of miles and they do it. Just an FYI, they don't build trucks for longevity fella. And it doesn't matter which brand you buy.

If you're going to use your truck mostly for construction and for work, you want better towing and hauling, you're going to do a lot of stuff at the back of your bed, than you should buy an F-150. Edit: They're both reliable, but Ford is more reliable(truck-wise). They both have the same off-roading capabilities too, and both of them have pretty good towing(but Ford's better). If you want a comfortable, more storage and a luxury truck (and a better looking,stylish)than Ram's for you( and you will be using it to tow stuff like once a week for camping or something, or just living a regular suburban life, you're a truck lover and stuff). If you're going to use your truck for mostly hauling, construction and mostly towing(like heavy duty trailers for contruction, or plumbing, whatever) than F-150's for you. Ram is cheaper than Ford though. Also forgot to add that if you're a businessman, and you need to get trucks for cheap(to sell them or something like that), than Ram's also good for you. Hopefully this advice from a 13 year old kid helped you guys in the truck market now. Buy one what's perfect for you. Good luck!
We have it on our Pacifica and it works well. I have an older F-150 with the column mounted shifter and that works well too. I agree with the reviewer than the center shifter wastes a lot of good space.
Both trucks are good to me not only because I've always been a Ford and Ram guy my entire life but also just how much tough workhorses they are and badass comfy roomy spacious interiors.
Ram is best. I've had Ford drivers tell me they should have gotten a Ram. My brother was a Chevy man. He bought a Ram also. After driving it for about 6 months, he said the Ram just can't be beat. A Ford man told me he went to the County Fair and the Rams were dragging the Fords all over the place in the truck pulls. My 2007 Ram has 310,000 and my son now drives it. Only thing replaced was wheel bearings, belts and hoses. Oil change every 3000. That's it! My 2011 Ram has 272,000 and runs like a top. Ram is the better truck. Once you own a Ram, you won't like going to Ford. Once you own a Ford or Chevy, you will love driving the Ram.
Currently about 5,000 miles into my 21 "Built to Serve" RAM 1500, and loving it! Special thanks to the long term video you guys did. I agree that the F-150 was a close competitor. Perhaps down the line I may consider a Ford but this was my first Full Size truck, so I wanted to get something I've been researching since the redesign in 2019 and I believe any of the major bugs are worked out by now. Thank you for the awesome comparison. Still happy with my choice.
With your comparison being so close, what isn’t so close is price. RAM has better incentives and that’s what RAM did with my ‘17 Laramie, almost 10k off. RAM all day for me
I have a '21 Ram 1500 Laramie night edition. I had a 2015 F150. I will most likely switch back to an F150 in 2022, once production gets up to speed an first year model bugs are worked out. My gripe with the Ram...gas mileage. It's just no where near the window sticker even with the etorque. My F150 had the 5.0 and got much better gas mileage.

My biggest problem with Ram Is engine chioce, the have none and it's always been the case! And it's been proven over and over again that their quality doesn't hold up over the years when it comes to interior! But it sure does look great when it's new, I'll give'em that! As for ford they last forever i got an 99 extended cab lariat with over half a billion miles and besides having to use premium fuel (or it'll knock) it drives like new! Never changed engine or transmission, all original! I wouldn't sale that truck for anything! I wanna see just how many miles i rack up before i have to change either and even then I'm gonna do just that replace both but only when they completely fail!
I was wondering why you didn't point out the step under Ram's bumper since you noted Ford's step tailgate. Also comparing 2 trucks with a 10k difference is really hard, I know what you said you know all the models but to give a side-by-side review 10k is a massive difference.
Actually if you remove the hybrid power and the 7.2 kw plugs and kept the regular (non hybrid) 3.5 engine you would still have more power than the Ram, a standard 2.0 kw outlet in the bed and saved by 5k so the difference would be 5k much closer comparison
Being Ford bias I would go f150 but with the base engine 3.3L v6. I hear they are very reliable and easy to work on.. Will tow 7k with right gearing.. The ram base 3.6L is another great base engine known to be reliable as well.. Either of the 2 I would get with the base engine.. No bells and whistles for me.
I think that if most people were honest with themselves they would admit that the 3.3L is all the engine they need. I mean, the thing makes 290 horsepower for Pete's sake! Do you know what the 5.4L Coyote made when the 10th-gen F-150 came out in 1997?? A whole 235 horsepower! The little v6s of today are literally making more horsepower than the v8s of yesteryear.
Comparing the Ford Platinum to the Ram Laramie was not quite fair. A better choice would have been to compare the Platinum with the Ram Limited. The Limited's E Torque. air suspension and 12 inch display would have put the two trucks into a "toss-up" of both features and price. For some reason both Ford and Chevy/GMC are all wrapped up with numbers; ie: HP, torque, bed & towing capacity. Ram on the other hand seems to take the attitude that as long as they are competitive with numbers, they instead focus on interior features and riding comfort. The Ram is truly a luxury sedan with a pick-up bed. If you are going to take long trips the Ram is the best choice.
With that Air Suspension....The Ram is the nicest riding vehicle I have ever driven !! Unbelievably Smooth Riding !! It just cannot get any better then that Air Ride !!
Ford wins the powertrain category and Ram wins the luxury category. Ecoboosts are just unfairly fast and economical engines and they actually last a really long time. The ram looks better and has a much nicer interior though. So if you want a performance truck go Ford. If you want a family truck go Ram.
Something I think you left out was in the driving evaluation was the adaptive cruise and lane assist. Would have liked a comparison. Other than that I thought it 2as a good balanced review.
totally agree, the Ford currently has a more advanced system based on mobile eye. FCA still hasn't updated the adaptive cruise and their lineup to include true Lane centering
Do you guys actually care about this stuff? We, the consumers, should be demanding more reliability, easier maintenance, better parts availability, and design with longevity in mind. I'd give up all these special features for that.

@@Enarjay7891 I had a Ram 1500 SLT Hemi that fell apart at 120,000km (not miles) after a little over three years. I did all my maintenance (the mechanic). Had rear diff whining, the front driverside suspension cracked, and the exhaust manifold cracked. Not all at the same time. Just started happening. Had a problem with the fan for the air in the cabin but I never bothered figuring that out. I just got rid of the truck.
I would personally go for a ford as they have that generator built in and camping with that would be brilliant. Also ford has 50% of the market, you all can talk as much smack about each others truck but figures tell the story

Why compare hybrid f150 to a v8 ram? Doesn't make sense. Ford has a great v8. And gets decent fuel economy. I get about 16.9 city and 20 highway, normal driving.

I am in the market for a full size pickup, being a first time pickup truck owner, having driven Lexus GX and LX trucks since 2003. After driving multiple trim levels of all major pickup truck manufacturers other than the Nissan, I will argue with this reviewers opinion of ride-quality. There is no comparison between the Ram 1500 8 cylinder etorque with air suspension and the Ford F150. The Ford is rather bouncy across all trim levels compared to the much more refined ride of the Ram 1500. The Ford may be more customizable theoretically, but post 2021, many options remain unavailable even today, and the reliability and dependability of Fords manufactured post onset of the Covid pandemic has not been good. In fact they have been so poor as to significantly adversely impact the bottom-line profitability of Ford, as they have had to effect so many recalls and repair vehicles under warranty, necessitating a statement by the CEO of the company admonishing the poor quality control that has taken such a large bite out of profit margins, while doing little to effect real change that will improve QC.
After my experience with three Ford trucks, I just bought my second Ram. My Fords fell apart, from window motors to turbos to axle problems. Only problem I had in a 2500 diesel Ram was a fuel gauge.
For me the Ram is best truck, it has the rigth amount of towing and payload, the best interior, exteior design, options etc. The tailgate isnt that heavy and quite frankly you do not need to power operate everything and of course the V8 engine.
V8s doesn’t really matter for a lot of people with the ford you are getting 135 more hp and 160 more tq . With the ford you have better technology and more towing capacity than that ram and plus in the ford you can choose from more trim levels than the ram.Plus you get better fuel economy and a 7.2kh generator that can power your house
Here is the one down fall for the Ford for me is the fact that they still do not make the smaller doors in the rear that have their own outside handles. Ram, GM and Toyota have this offering and Ford still does not. When is Ford going to get with the times? If they had a truck like that, that would probably seal the deal with FORD for me. I could have my 6.5' bed and access to the rear doors without having to open the front doors first.
Very nice comment. This shows as times go on our needs change. Both of these trucks are great. I will go with the Ford as it lasts a little longer has a generator which will be very useful for camping or even powering your house when a power outage happens like in Texas. And not to mention way more towing. That's just my choice anyway.

After having my Ford burn to the ground from a 14 million Fire recall i stopped buying Ford. I went to Ram in 03 because they were the only 1500 with a quad cab for kids and a 6.5" bed to haul my two 450 quads. I had my Ram Hemi for 12 years and 114,000 miles towing and hauling my toy hauler. On my second Ram 15 power wagon and love how it tows. Especially of road. I've noticed Ford still has Fire recalls. Like steal over aluminum as well as a v8 vs a v6.
If you're the kind of truck driver that expects to put 100k+ on their truck, I'd pick the Ram. The 5.7l is tried and tested. If not the Powerboost sounds like a hoot. No real bad options.
You can pick a more reliable engine than the Powerboost. Ram has a lot of transmission failures tho, so I would disagree with your statement that the Ram is more reliable.
@@witp7928 the zf8 is one of the most reliable transmissions out there. I was actually thinking the hemi itself isn’t all that reliable. These things love to wipe out cam and lifters.
@@witp7928 The gas HD Rams also have the 8 speed. The diesel 2500 and the low output 3500+ diesels have a Chrysler 6 speed. The high output 3500+ diesels have an Aisin 6 speed. The 8 speed is an amazing transmission and so is the Aisin 6 speed. The Chrysler 6 speed on the other hand... Isn't a good transmission at all.
That’s my thought. If they put that in it would be a game changer for Ram. Right now Ford has 3 motors as powerful or more than the 5.7. GM has the 6.2.
Wonder if it has something to do with overall corporate MPG ratings & emissions laws. A lot of the HD trucks don't have EPA estimated ratings since they're HD work trucks.
They added the 392 for the Rubicon which makes no sense been waiting for a 392 ram for years now I guess 5.7 owners are better off putting aftermarket lifters with the 392 cam which is the same as the 5.7 but it's forged and the 5.7 is just as good as the 392 I'm guessing that's why they haven't come out with it but I'd still take a 392 over a 5.7

Funny how Edmunds admits the more expensive Ford "isn't far off [the Ram]," but somehow the Ram still comes in second. And no, I don't count "availability" as a great reason to buy a Ford. Edmunds already put the Ram against every other truck and it came out on top--including the F150--but doesn't explain what might have changed to make the Ford come out higher this time. All of which makes this feel like a paid placement by Ford.
Gas milage wins if comparable power. Gas is going to become crazy expensive in the next few years with eco taxes. That will make Gas guzzlers less valuable for resale/ trade as well
That Ford collapsing shifter is the first thing that will break. my new Ram has a stupid toaster oven dial....that i hope doesn't break, but if it does I can easily find something in the kitchen to replace it. I really was looking for old school column shifter on my pick up, but the rest of the Ram Laramie attached to the rotary dial was the deciding factor. Also Hemi goes brmmmmm.
You lost me at liking column shifters. They don't make any sense unless the truck has a bench seat. I was really surprised at the conclusion because I thought the review seemed to have a RAM bias.
Find it funny people still hate on turbo 6…every car manufacturer is doing it…Audi, Porsche etc have been doing it last 20 years, ford has trucks and expeditions running quick now with way higher loads better fuel economy…never beat the new diesels tho
im trying to decide between ford f150 or ram 1500. I really want that hemi, old fashioned v8. I like the power of the twin tubes, but the more features you add, the odds of failure increase. I guess that's my thinking or concern. I tend to buy a vehicle, and drive it forever. im looking for long term reliability with power and towing capacity. right. now, im driving an 02' ram with the 360, and its a dog. anythings an improvement.
The Ford interior is an improvement but the shifter is ridiculous. All that engineering to have a center shifter, the knob in the Ram is easier to use and saves so much storage room. I could not give up my huge center console to a a shifter. I can put a gallon of milk in their or what ever else, When ever I drive another vehicle I am lost without it.
I’m on my third Ram since 2009. They never let me down, which I can’t say about the new Ford I bought years ago. I even had a extended warranty on a used 2017 Ram Laramie and never used it.
I think it has more to do with the fact that Ford realizes that, statistically speaking, the majority of F-150 owners are over the age of 55. I guess Ford is concerned that its ageing buyers are getting too frail and weak to lift their own tailgates.
You didn't mention the F150 laydown seat option, which is a godsend on long rv towing drives when you want to pull over for a power nap. A car seat that becomes a bed? Who wouldn't want one of those?! On the serious note... you kinda breeze over the drive assist safety features. And honestly, how many people care anymore about torque and 0-60?

Hilariously here in Australia only the very rich drive these. the F150 Lariat with a 3.5L is 151K and the Laramie sport is 145K
I'm a Ford guy at heart so I'll always choose the Ford but that Ram is a very close second. The Ram especially in all black looks stunning.

I brought home a 2022 F150 tremor, despite the poor fuel mileage, its a very nice truck for a luxury model, that you can offroad in !
Owned my ram for 4 years and I'd take that rotary dial over everything else. Out of the way, fast, simple and right in the right spot.

We have it on our Pacifica and it works well. I have an older F-150 with the column mounted shifter and that works well too. I agree with the reviewer than the center shifter wastes a lot of good space.

The drive dial took a little time to get use to but the open center area is a game changer for me.
Both trucks are good to me not only because I've always been a Ford and Ram guy my entire life but also just how much tough workhorses they are and badass comfy roomy spacious interiors.

Ram is best. I've had Ford drivers tell me they should have gotten a Ram. My brother was a Chevy man. He bought a Ram also. After driving it for about 6 months, he said the Ram just can't be beat. A Ford man told me he went to the County Fair and the Rams were dragging the Fords all over the place in the truck pulls. My 2007 Ram has 310,000 and my son now drives it. Only thing replaced was wheel bearings, belts and hoses. Oil change every 3000. That's it! My 2011 Ram has 272,000 and runs like a top. Ram is the better truck. Once you own a Ram, you won't like going to Ford. Once you own a Ford or Chevy, you will love driving the Ram.
Currently about 5,000 miles into my 21 "Built to Serve" RAM 1500, and loving it! Special thanks to the long term video you guys did. I agree that the F-150 was a close competitor. Perhaps down the line I may consider a Ford but this was my first Full Size truck, so I wanted to get something I've been researching since the redesign in 2019 and I believe any of the major bugs are worked out by now. Thank you for the awesome comparison. Still happy with my choice.

I have a '21 Ram 1500 Laramie night edition. I had a 2015 F150. I will most likely switch back to an F150 in 2022, once production gets up to speed an first year model bugs are worked out. My gripe with the Ram...gas mileage. It's just no where near the window sticker even with the etorque. My F150 had the 5.0 and got much better gas mileage.

My biggest problem with Ram Is engine chioce, the have none and it's always been the case! And it's been proven over and over again that their quality doesn't hold up over the years when it comes to interior! But it sure does look great when it's new, I'll give'em that! As for ford they last forever i got an 99 extended cab lariat with over half a billion miles and besides having to use premium fuel (or it'll knock) it drives like new! Never changed engine or transmission, all original! I wouldn't sale that truck for anything! I wanna see just how many miles i rack up before i have to change either and even then I'm gonna do just that replace both but only when they completely fail!

I was wondering why you didn't point out the step under Ram's bumper since you noted Ford's step tailgate. Also comparing 2 trucks with a 10k difference is really hard, I know what you said you know all the models but to give a side-by-side review 10k is a massive difference.
Actually if you remove the hybrid power and the 7.2 kw plugs and kept the regular (non hybrid) 3.5 engine you would still have more power than the Ram, a standard 2.0 kw outlet in the bed and saved by 5k so the difference would be 5k much closer comparison

Being Ford bias I would go f150 but with the base engine 3.3L v6. I hear they are very reliable and easy to work on.. Will tow 7k with right gearing.. The ram base 3.6L is another great base engine known to be reliable as well.. Either of the 2 I would get with the base engine.. No bells and whistles for me.
I think that if most people were honest with themselves they would admit that the 3.3L is all the engine they need. I mean, the thing makes 290 horsepower for Pete's sake! Do you know what the 5.4L Coyote made when the 10th-gen F-150 came out in 1997?? A whole 235 horsepower! The little v6s of today are literally making more horsepower than the v8s of yesteryear.
I'm biased towards RAM because my family has an 02 and I love it! I'd easily pick another RAM but the Ford is very nice too!
Comparing the Ford Platinum to the Ram Laramie was not quite fair. A better choice would have been to compare the Platinum with the Ram Limited. The Limited's E Torque. air suspension and 12 inch display would have put the two trucks into a "toss-up" of both features and price. For some reason both Ford and Chevy/GMC are all wrapped up with numbers; ie: HP, torque, bed & towing capacity. Ram on the other hand seems to take the attitude that as long as they are competitive with numbers, they instead focus on interior features and riding comfort. The Ram is truly a luxury sedan with a pick-up bed. If you are going to take long trips the Ram is the best choice.

Ford wins the powertrain category and Ram wins the luxury category. Ecoboosts are just unfairly fast and economical engines and they actually last a really long time. The ram looks better and has a much nicer interior though.
So if you want a performance truck go Ford. If you want a family truck go Ram.

totally agree, the Ford currently has a more advanced system based on mobile eye. FCA still hasn't updated the adaptive cruise and their lineup to include true Lane centering
Do you guys actually care about this stuff? We, the consumers, should be demanding more reliability, easier maintenance, better parts availability, and design with longevity in mind. I'd give up all these special features for that.
I feel like GM did the best job with exterior styling, Ram makes the most luxurious truck, and Ford is the leader in innovation as usual

Air ride is nothing new, it was already offered in the yukon, various cadillacs, and Lincoln vehicles. The 12in touch screen is a luxury but Tesla did it first. As for your 5.7 hemi, it'll go strong for 150k or so before the cam/lifters go from oil starvation due to the small oil galleys. Ford ran their ecoboost around a NASCAR track hauling a trailer for 150k miles lol congrats on using a battery for your stop/start system I guess? Oh and btw I don't even own a Ford I'm just giving credit where credit is due.

I have owned several ram trucks and switched to f150s and while I liked my ram trucks, the f150 just does everything better.
Given the massive price advantage the RAM had in this comparison, I’d take the RAM all day. It’s a beautiful truck, and very capable.
Well theyre comparing a platinum to a laramie so not exactly fair. The Ram longhorn or limited wouldve been the same price as the F150 platinum.

@@Enarjay7891 I had a Ram 1500 SLT Hemi that fell apart at 120,000km (not miles) after a little over three years. I did all my maintenance (the mechanic). Had rear diff whining, the front driverside suspension cracked, and the exhaust manifold cracked. Not all at the same time. Just started happening. Had a problem with the fan for the air in the cabin but I never bothered figuring that out. I just got rid of the truck.
I would personally go for a ford as they have that generator built in and camping with that would be brilliant. Also ford has 50% of the market, you all can talk as much smack about each others truck but figures tell the story

Why compare hybrid f150 to a v8 ram? Doesn't make sense. Ford has a great v8. And gets decent fuel economy. I get about 16.9 city and 20 highway, normal driving.
Try asking two manufactures for the exact same spec.

I am in the market for a full size pickup, being a first time pickup truck owner, having driven Lexus GX and LX trucks since 2003. After driving multiple trim levels of all major pickup truck manufacturers other than the Nissan, I will argue with this reviewers opinion of ride-quality. There is no comparison between the Ram 1500 8 cylinder etorque with air suspension and the Ford F150. The Ford is rather bouncy across all trim levels compared to the much more refined ride of the Ram 1500. The Ford may be more customizable theoretically, but post 2021, many options remain unavailable even today, and the reliability and dependability of Fords manufactured post onset of the Covid pandemic has not been good. In fact they have been so poor as to significantly adversely impact the bottom-line profitability of Ford, as they have had to effect so many recalls and repair vehicles under warranty, necessitating a statement by the CEO of the company admonishing the poor quality control that has taken such a large bite out of profit margins, while doing little to effect real change that will improve QC.
After my experience with three Ford trucks, I just bought my second Ram. My Fords fell apart, from window motors to turbos to axle problems. Only problem I had in a 2500 diesel Ram was a fuel gauge.

For me the Ram is best truck, it has the rigth amount of towing and payload, the best interior, exteior design, options etc. The tailgate isnt that heavy and quite frankly you do not need to power operate everything and of course the V8 engine.
V8s doesn’t really matter for a lot of people with the ford you are getting 135 more hp and 160 more tq . With the ford you have better technology and more towing capacity than that ram and plus in the ford you can choose from more trim levels than the ram.Plus you get better fuel economy and a 7.2kh generator that can power your house

Here is the one down fall for the Ford for me is the fact that they still do not make the smaller doors in the rear that have their own outside handles. Ram, GM and Toyota have this offering and Ford still does not. When is Ford going to get with the times? If they had a truck like that, that would probably seal the deal with FORD for me. I could have my 6.5' bed and access to the rear doors without having to open the front doors first.

I will go with the Ford as it lasts a little longer has a generator which will be very useful for camping or even powering your house when a power outage happens like in Texas. And not to mention way more towing. That's just my choice anyway.

After having my Ford burn to the ground from a 14 million Fire recall i stopped buying Ford. I went to Ram in 03 because they were the only 1500 with a quad cab for kids and a 6.5" bed to haul my two 450 quads. I had my Ram Hemi for 12 years and 114,000 miles towing and hauling my toy hauler. On my second Ram 15 power wagon and love how it tows. Especially of road. I've noticed Ford still has Fire recalls. Like steal over aluminum as well as a v8 vs a v6.
I would rather have power than sound. 100+ more tq sign me up.
This is what I don't get from people.. well it does not sound like a V8, I need my V8. Those V6s have more power and torque then the V8s.

If you're the kind of truck driver that expects to put 100k+ on their truck, I'd pick the Ram. The 5.7l is tried and tested. If not the Powerboost sounds like a hoot. No real bad options.
You can pick a more reliable engine than the Powerboost. Ram has a lot of transmission failures tho, so I would disagree with your statement that the Ram is more reliable.
@@witp7928 the zf8 is one of the most reliable transmissions out there. I was actually thinking the hemi itself isn’t all that reliable. These things love to wipe out cam and lifters.

@@witp7928 The gas HD Rams also have the 8 speed. The diesel 2500 and the low output 3500+ diesels have a Chrysler 6 speed. The high output 3500+ diesels have an Aisin 6 speed. The 8 speed is an amazing transmission and so is the Aisin 6 speed. The Chrysler 6 speed on the other hand... Isn't a good transmission at all.
I drove them both..........hands down to RAM 1500 Limited. 100%%%%%% for me. No block like the HEMI....period.

That’s my thought. If they put that in it would be a game changer for Ram. Right now Ford has 3 motors as powerful or more than the 5.7. GM has the 6.2.
Wonder if it has something to do with overall corporate MPG ratings & emissions laws. A lot of the HD trucks don't have EPA estimated ratings since they're HD work trucks.
They added the 392 for the Rubicon which makes no sense been waiting for a 392 ram for years now I guess 5.7 owners are better off putting aftermarket lifters with the 392 cam which is the same as the 5.7 but it's forged and the 5.7 is just as good as the 392 I'm guessing that's why they haven't come out with it but I'd still take a 392 over a 5.7

Funny how Edmunds admits the more expensive Ford "isn't far off [the Ram]," but somehow the Ram still comes in second. And no, I don't count "availability" as a great reason to buy a Ford. Edmunds already put the Ram against every other truck and it came out on top--including the F150--but doesn't explain what might have changed to make the Ford come out higher this time. All of which makes this feel like a paid placement by Ford.

Gas milage wins if comparable power. Gas is going to become crazy expensive in the next few years with eco taxes. That will make Gas guzzlers less valuable for resale/ trade as well

That Ford collapsing shifter is the first thing that will break. my new Ram has a stupid toaster oven dial....that i hope doesn't break, but if it does I can easily find something in the kitchen to replace it. I really was looking for old school column shifter on my pick up, but the rest of the Ram Laramie attached to the rotary dial was the deciding factor. Also Hemi goes brmmmmm.

You lost me at liking column shifters. They don't make any sense unless the truck has a bench seat. I was really surprised at the conclusion because I thought the review seemed to have a RAM bias.
Find it funny people still hate on turbo 6…every car manufacturer is doing it…Audi, Porsche etc have been doing it last 20 years, ford has trucks and expeditions running quick now with way higher loads better fuel economy…never beat the new diesels tho

im trying to decide between ford f150 or ram 1500. I really want that hemi, old fashioned v8. I like the power of the twin tubes, but the more features you add, the odds of failure increase. I guess that's my thinking or concern. I tend to buy a vehicle, and drive it forever. im looking for long term reliability with power and towing capacity. right. now, im driving an 02' ram with the 360, and its a dog. anythings an improvement.

The Ford interior is an improvement but the shifter is ridiculous. All that engineering to have a center shifter, the knob in the Ram is easier to use and saves so much storage room. I could not give up my huge center console to a a shifter. I can put a gallon of milk in their or what ever else, When ever I drive another vehicle I am lost without it.
I’m on my third Ram since 2009. They never let me down, which I can’t say about the new Ford I bought years ago. I even had a extended warranty on a used 2017 Ram Laramie and never used it.
I’m on my first ever Ram 2019. Hope I have the same success as yourself. Love the truck so far.

I think it has more to do with the fact that Ford realizes that, statistically speaking, the majority of F-150 owners are over the age of 55. I guess Ford is concerned that its ageing buyers are getting too frail and weak to lift their own tailgates.

You didn't mention the F150 laydown seat option, which is a godsend on long rv towing drives when you want to pull over for a power nap. A car seat that becomes a bed? Who wouldn't want one of those?! On the serious note... you kinda breeze over the drive assist safety features. And honestly, how many people care anymore about torque and 0-60?
