In this video, I show you how to attach Moss with Superglue the right way and how to use a Takashi Amano trick whether you decide to use superglue or the classic way with Mosscotton.
This Moss Trick I show you, will make your mossy scapes look a lot better and improve the chances your moss is attaching to the surface.
This trick works with any type of moss. Christmas moss, Spiky moss, Taiwan moss, Java moss, Fissidens moss works too in case you want to attach it with a cotton thread.

Excellent video! Now I have some new ideas thanks to you! I enjoyed watching! Thank you for sharing!
This is a great technique! I've always cut my moss, but I've never tried the dabbing techniques. It's on my to-try list now!
I just tried this method. I highly recommend it. It gives you more precision on the moss placement. Now it’s a matter of time for the moss to grow!
About how long??
love this tip. going to give this technique a try on my next scape
Very helpful tip. Thank you Jurijs. ❤️
Great tip. I will share this vid to my group.
Thank you dude!! All the best!
awsome tip i will be gluing some moss tomorrow
your tips are very helpful
Great tip! Thanks Jurijs!
Nice video & thanks for sharing information 👍
Will be using this tip with my next project 👍👍👍
Awesome learned alot. 🙌🙏
Thanks for the tip. I hope we get to see some follow-on videos of this river aquascape, which looks really attractive. I've got a question--so I've noticed that superglue leaves a white spot. Say that after a year I'd like to dismantle my aquascape and reuse the driftwood to which I'd attached moss with superglue. Will there be some unsightly white spots remaining? If so, is there a way to remove them? Otherwise, shall I presume I should try to cover those spots with more moss/plants in the second aquascape?
I used this method before i watched all amano’s videos
Perfect way
This seems a much better technique than me just gluing clumps to the wood. I'll try this next time. Thanks for the tip.
Good luck, let me know if it worked better for you
It's SO expensive! I am too afraid to try, but I WILL move it around a lot more than I intended! This super glue (I bought "gorilla glue" as recommended by a few others), technique gluing damp to damp, even my less porous manzanita, freaks me out. (Had a very bad experience with a fake Java moss ball-took tank to the bottom...dry, 2 times to get rid of this horrific "cancer"..it came back through filter, or tubing, or plants. So, brand new tank. Excellent LFS! Wish me so much luck! I love aquariums-for 50 years now:) But I could never chop like this, not in a new aquascape anyway.
Thank you Jurijs for sharing this great tip! Question, the reason why to glue chopped moss & to dap the moss onto rocks or driftwood, is to look less clumpy & have a more natural look? I do a "George Farmer Style", stuff the moss between rocks & driftwood. 😉
Great great tip!
Thank you!
I found this trick recently, well not that I know of but, like you said it makes a lot of grow points.
Yes it does 👍
I tried this technique last night and can say it's an awesome pro tip! 👌🏻
You welcome Daniel!
Im about to try something like this on Wednesday or Thursday....does it work and how are your results a year later?
@@petergeanacopulos5327 yes it works amazingly. The moss really takes hold and grows quickly.
@@danielandres4353 This is great to know, much appreciated. I have some plants coming in tomorrow and I want to adhere some of the moss I got to my driftwood. Should I pre-clean the surface of the driftwood?
@@petergeanacopulos5327 how did your project turn after 2 years I'm about to do the same right now.
Awesome tip
Gorgeous scape :)
thank you Adelle
Great tip.
This is one top tip my guy
Thanks for the great tip Juris. Is it best to have the branches wet as in your video, does it make a difference?
this is some prime knowledge
Great tip!!! Thanks. I will try this myself soon. 👍👍
Would this work for mini fissidens? Amazing tip! Thank you!
Hi Jurijs, could you share how to clean the white mark of the super glue on the hardscape? I used glue on the rocks and woods, and I can not reuse them when I want to rescape because of the white mark. Thank you very much!
I will try soon
Great tip. But would of loved to see a clip at the end of how it turned out after a couple months.
Two questions: what type of superglue did you say was best and what are the best places to buy moss from?
i do have a moss seed here right now and i don't know what am i going to with it just a question can i plant it first on my planters and when they grow up i could put them on my spider tree? thank you for the response
When i used fevi quick the moss was cotted with a substance like plastic is that the problem of that glue?which is the good one?
I tried something similar with the flourish glue.. but it left very unsightly white patches everywhere... could anyone tell me how 2 avoid this? I tried using smaller amounts. maybe regular gel super glue is better?
This method can be used in a wabikusa setup? To make a carpet moss?
can we use this method under water? example the rock or driftwood is already in water, then i apply the glue on the rock/wood, and then paste the moss on it, all this done under water...?? possible...?
Is the superglue safe in the water to or is it just above the water
Micha
Seachem plant glue works with this trick? Also the plant dont die if i cut it in small pieces randomly?
GOOD👍👏👏👏😄
How to make a moss carpet suggestions please
This is very interesting, never knew you could attach moss like this. Would this same technique work for tissue culture, which I assume are more fragile?
Yes, absolutely
Superglue not pullutes water?
hi, after gluing the moss to the driftwood, can i put into the aquarium ( WITH WATER ) immediately? thanks.
Yes the water helps cure and harden the glue
Other videos i watched said the superglue turns white ? Has anybody had this problem ?
Awesome tip can't wait to try it.
Yes it can turn White, but covered with moss it’s invisible
I tried this technique should the moss be applied thinly or in thicker patches? will a sparse section grow worse than a thick section? I have some light covering on some thin branches hoping that it will live
Jurijs Jutjajevs do you think it will survive tho? I don’t care if it grows slow as light covering was the look i was going for
Hi Jurijs,
With this technique, can i avoid to get the white glue pieces (when it get solid) visible? Or thats only a matter of time when the moss grow enough so it will cover the glue?
Thanks
Use only little thin amount of glue and with this technique it will become Invisible
can i use mos trims to propagate those on new places? and does mos grow in width or only in lnght?
Yes you can and moss will grow in all directions
Does someone knows where I can find the complete vídeo of Mr. Takashi Amano explaning this technique?
Link in the description
Thanks Jurijs, what is the light you have hanging on the tank?
its a custom made light 😆
Ich liebe & hasse Moos.
Sieht mega cool aus, aber ist so nervig zu schneiden.
Tipps? :D
thank you jurijs
Do you have an "attach Moss with fishing line" video? Can you link it? Or do one?
not yet, fishing line is less easy to use compared to a cotton thread like Mosscotton. however, if you need a thread that's going to last "forever" use nylon thread, it will not dissolve like cotton
How do you hide the white spots the superglue creates?
nietrelevant lmao he liked it and didn’t reply 😂
Response - Are you using clear super glue?
Wow
Can you use this method for Christmas Moss?
yes it works with any type of moss. I wouldnt use it with riccardia or fissidens and riccia though
And Can super glue used for Taxiphyllum ‘Flame’?
Yes
Hey bro. Can I chop livingworths like Riccia and co.? And if I can do it, is better to attach with glue, wires.. ?
Good question, someone gave me some, but haven't attached it yet, because I'm not sure of the best way to attach it to my driftwood.
Does this work with fissidens fontanus or is phoenix moss too delicate?
Don’t do this technique with Fissidens. Instead you can do the moss mud method. Basically chopping fissidens and mixing with a little soil dust and water and painting on hardscape, followed by a dry start. I have done this to my full ADA 60p, you find it among the older videos
I tried ur technique with gel type glue with Java moss after a week it's turning brown
What's may be the reason
Did you buy the moss from the store one week back, or did you put it from another of your tanks?
Most stores in India would sell Java moss that was grown emersed, which probably means that your moss is getting used to growing underwater. Wait for 3 more weeks and look out for green tips - new growth. Fertilizers and regular waterchanges help. If you want things growing faster, Seachem Advance can accelerate growth.
how can you tell which kind of glue is non toxic to the fish?
cyanoacrylate glue is safe. It is even used in medical conditions on humans.
Is this also effective for christmas moss?
Probably
What type of super glue are you using
l'm waiting for another video
Can chop Christmas Moss and apply it the same way?
yes, works with any kind of aquatic moss, however I prefer species that will attach by themselves over time, and Christmas moss however is not good at attaching itself to things..
will the glue cure with moss drpping water ??
Yes it will even cure underwater
I used super glue similar technic (small pieces attached) for Riccia Fluitans. Will it work or it will detachs after few weeks, what do you think? I read lot of article, but usually everybody use fishing line for Riccia, so I am not sure if it was a good idea or bad idea to glue it. 😬
Not good imo. Riccia will be damaged by the glue and die off quickly. There is a reason everyone uses fishing line 😉
Oh, thanks for the answer.
Can I use normal Crazy Glue?
if its based on cyanoacrylate, yes
So I tried the technique and I got good coverage on the lava rock I put it on, but now I have a bunch of white glue spots and it totally kills the beauty of my scape, is this expected and I just need to grow it out?
Yes, the moss will grow and cover up the glue
Is this glue harmful for fishes if kept in the same container?
no its safe to use
Is cyanoacrylate harm for fishes???,
When I started pasting mosses to the driftwood in my paludarium suddenly it was dropped to the the water and it was eaten by fishes..
No
Hi! Is this applicable to any type of moss?
All but riccardia and riccia or pellia
Jurijs.....how come my wood ended looking whitish with only a little bit of moss on it🙈🙈🙈. I used the gel type too
Too much glue, to little moss 🤣
Scrub of the glue and start over again
Will this method work with fissiden?
yes, but use only very little amount of glue, eventually test first on a spare piece of hardscape
My plant suffer hair algae. What i do in this case? ??
@@JurijsJutjajevs I am also having the same problem. Dosing E.I with co2 setup (lime green) and not low NO3. Not sure what causing the imbalance. Any suggestion ?
@@sivamays phosphates
Is it works for dry start method ??? Please answer
Yes, however for dry start I would prefer the moss mud method
Super Tipp danke. Hab ich das richtig verstanden mit dem Gelkleber?
sekunden kleber "gel" ja
@@JurijsJutjajevs danke
love the tip!, does it work on every type of moss ?
Most of them. Riccia and riccardia are more difficult
@@JurijsJutjajevs difficult how? What are the issues that I may face if I'm using Riccia and Riccardia
Does it work for java moss?
@Jurijs Jutjajevs how would you attach riccardia?
Every moss use this techniqe
Seems so obvious now!
is there a type of superglue to be use or just any kind of superglue?
Cyanoacrylate based superglue gel type
@@JurijsJutjajevs thnx for the info!
Haha I wish I had this last night! Attached 30+ pieces of Christmas Moss! Fingers are all covered in Crazy Glue.
Thanks for the great tips! Looking forward to this one too!
Quick question... Someone gave me a 15xm x 18cm carpet of Monti Carlo. Would you recommend putting it and holding it down with rocks or break it up and plant in clumps? Also, have any tricks to amend sand substrates after the tank is filled?
Keep up the amazing work! Between you and @Georgefarmer, I'm inspired daily!
@@JurijsJutjajevs thanks for the feed back!
@@JurijsJutjajevs hmmm can't seam to find the recommended video. Is it on your channel?
Will it still grow?
Of course it will
Что за чудо клей ?
Is the glue fish safe?
Yes
But doesn’t the superglue turn white?
Plants will grow and cover the white
I did this but the glue is showing
Jurijs Jutjajevs that’s what I was hoping. Keep up the quality videos. Thanks for the reply.
Does the glue dry white
Yes, but moss will grow and cover it
Jurijs Jutjajevs thank you love your work mate 👌
What kind glue gel pls.?
Linked in the description
Tks
It turned out all white for me
My super glue dries white. I feel like this method would look extremely ugly with my glue
use only little amount, even if it dries white, moss will grow on top and cover the white
What is super glue?
A glue that has super powers 💥
I did this and I think my guppies are eating the floating pieces or superglue gel. Three have died in the last 12 hours after doing this technique.
If done correctly no glue should float around .. I highly recommend to make a large water change and remove anything that shouldn’t be floating around
I tried this method. It looks awful due to the the glue turning bright white. I hope the moss covers it after some time, but if you want a clean look from the start, this method is questionable.
@@JurijsJutjajevs true :)
My glue has turned white and stands out horrible in my plants
Use small amount only and if so over time moss will grow and hide the white
I'm so confused... is this for fish? Super glue? What's happening?
It’s not toxic
I am really afraid that the moss will die
