  • I'll show how to easily attach Java fern, moss and Anubias to wood and rock showing several different techniques. I thought the camera was recording when I talked about glue, Super glue brand super glue is safe for use in fish tanks because it becomes inert when wet due to the active ingredient They use (Cyanoacrylate). Other brands also can be used but only if Cyanoacrylate is the only active ingredient. When attaching plants, it's easier to use super glue gel not the liquid type. Also, the glue will become white when wet so please be aware of this. Depending on where its used it may be visible. You only need a small drop.

    Hey, you didn't mention that that Super Glue should be AQUARIUM super glue and not just the ordinary kind.

    Thank you very much for all of your ideas. I really appreciate it. I am a newbie only since the end of October 2022. This is my first time watching you.
    Thank you speaking slowly and not rushing through your demonstration.
    Those of us who have a brain injury struggle with processing what we hear and do that hand-eye coordination thing.
    You are an excellent instructor. I will be getting my 55G tank this week or early next week. I bought some cotton thread, Plants, Driftwood, and Rocks. I can start to put things together in my first Betta Kit Tank to help to get it started. I am keeping the original 1.7G Betta Kit Tank operational as a Medicine Tank. I moved Betta twice since the end of October... first to a 6.6G Betta Kit Tank. This is now my Quarantine Tank as as I start to add new Species to this 55G after a few weeks of Quarantine. This current 10G will be for Plant Propagation... and a Breeding Tank should any of them get Pregnant. They'll be safe there.

      That all sounds great! You might want to check out some videos on Emersed propagation. I don't have any videos on that yet but there are lots on UA-cam. Java fern and Anubis are 2 that I've done with amazing resalts. Tissue cultures are an affordable option as well.

    I love ANUBIAS! Contrary to what most people say about its growth, mine grow leaves every week. Probably due to the humid and hot weather here in my country, it helps make anubias produce leaves faster. I use glue on anubias and black thread on mosses. The dried super glue looks so messy on mosses and you'd have to for quite sometime before it gets covered by moss or even diatoms.

    Thank you! I'm coming back to the hobby after 20 years and cannot believe how much has changed! Got my plant delivery, tank set up and I'm determined to leave it (without fish) for at least a week to monitor the water etc. You have a lovely way of speaking which is very clear and slower for us older listeners. Cheers! PS- also appreciate that you reply to comments.

      Welcome back. Adding a fish or 2 will help your water parameters faster. I would recommend watching Fatherfish.

    Really excellent! I don't plan on using super glue! The thread idea is perfect, the rubber band not too bad!

    So glad I found this video. I love the idea of tying or rubber banding the plants to a base. I'm super excited to try these out in my tank. I'm so done with plastic plants in mine.

      Glad it was helpful, but keep in mind that if you use stem plants (plants that get their nutrient from their roots) they need to be planted and it would be a good idea to use root tabs.

    Thank you so much. I hate how my tank looks after using glue. I do not like the way java moss looks any more and I was wondering if there was another kind of moss you might recommend for my drift wood.

    hey, from China here. thanks for this video. now i can really start attaching plants to my woods and rocks😄 i was clueless. and by the way, is using super glue in the tank ok for the pets in there? i worry a lot hahaha.

    • @junglenook
      @junglenook  Рік тому

      Use super glue jell not liquid and most importantly make sure the active ingredient is ((( CYANOACRYLATE ))) any other active ingredient could poison the tank.

    Thanks for this video .. I just subscribed and am a beginner too so was wondering if driftwood and java moss on it would survive if I don’t keep it on water in the aquarium… I want to keep it as a table top piece and will definitely spray water so my ask is will it survive

    • @junglenook
      @junglenook  Рік тому +1

      Yes, if it's in a sealed aquarium with a tight lid and kept constantly moist. Although it will grow differently out of water. It will stay short and compact, similar to some varieties of moss that grow outside on logs, rocks ext...Most aquodic plants can be grown this way and it's a fast way to propagate them because they will have better access to Co2.

    • @junglenook
      @junglenook  Рік тому +1

      Also, if it does dry out and turn brown it's not dead just dormant. Rehydrate and it will come back. If there's no condensation in the tank it's to dry.

    Where did you get that gorgeous large driftwood? 😍 Do you collect it on your own or buy it?

    • @junglenook
      @junglenook  Рік тому +3

      Both, eventually I'll get around to making a video on collecting and preparing locally harvested driftwood and how to make it safe for aquariums. I bought the pieces in that video. It's actually three different pieces glued together. Thanks for watching!
