I actually teared up listening to your dad compliment you, brought back memories when my father would say nice things to me. Tom,off camera give the Ginger a big hug and tell him thankyou ! Thanks for your videos!
Im the very same started tearing up the click on comments and i laughed as you had said the same thing i was going to. There is no better feeling than your father says how good your are and how much they would be lost without you even though they dont need to
Of course he is Toms funding the bloody farm.
@@donaldtriumph1682its called diversification, doesn’t matter how you do it UA-cam is still a lot of work thought it pays well if you get it right. You can never retire, sit back and put your feet up though 😂😂
@@johnwarwick4105 I’m not knocking any extra input into the farm diversification is a must to keep farm’s afloat.
Hey
I love seeing you with your dad. I know he can talk all day long, and expound bucket loads of wisdom. Treasure these moments. My dad’s been gone some 15 years now. Boy, oh boy, do I miss opportunities like this.
Glad you're back, Tom. Cheers mate.
Hello
can't help but imagine.... that 25 yrs from now, we may see Tom and his son-or other children- sitting at that very table with his dad, talking about the farm and their future plans. Warms the heart.❤
I bet the whole Pemberton family are happy to have you back Tom with all the responsibilities you have on the farm
Congratulations Tom & Joanna on the birth of baby Harvey. Hope you all are doing well ❤
We love the interaction between you and your dad, he’s so interesting to listen too the mix of young farmer and old farmer is fabulous you both aren’t afraid to learn from each other. Would love to hear or read a book about the history of your family. Has anyone ever done your family tree?
Tom... Your dad's great... Great vlog again.. great to see you back. Be kind to yourself tom, the first few weeks with a newborn are difficult. 👶
I love how much y’all enjoy each other’s company. The Ginger Man is a Legend. His accent is so unique as well. I think y’all are one of the best farm UA-camrs on this platform. Keep up the amazing works boys. Nothing like a Sunday video to start our day. Thanks n keep em rolling boys!
Thank you ☺️
I could listen to your dad for hours Tom, he is so easy on the ear. Farm diversification - Tom’s dad as an after dinner speaker, he could make a fortune!!
Congratulations guys! Sending you our best and hope everyone is well!
Maze meal in feeder wagon is what you need for to get a final flesh cover. Its cheapish here in ireland at moment too. Id bet its even cheaper in England. Its the best form of energy. Any of the top beef finisher nuts you buy. Maze will be the main ingredient straight maze meal is what you need
I hope Joanna is recovering well and we would love to see a little peek of Harvey. I'm so glad that your father lets you know how much you are appreciated. I love to hear him discuss the farm. You two are an amazing team. Can't wait until Harvey has his first pair of wellies and starts following you around the farm!!! I hope you and your family have a wonderful and magical Christmas.
Thanks for the video Tom! You won't sleep a lot fur 6 months or so. Nap when you can. Congratulations once again in Harvey's arrival. Prayers for Jo's recovery. God bless you all.
drill a hole in the outer tine and put a pin in it to stop the pusher falling off when going backwards
Love seeing the family once in a while plus your sit down father chats are interesting. Thanks for sharing so much with us, I'm ,looking forward to seeing your wife and little one when(if) they are ready to say hi to us viewers. Cheers
Good morning. It's 3:45 am here in Wisconsin, USA. I'm trying to get to sleep. But, happily watching you and the Ginger Warrior discuss your options. Barley sounds like a good thing. The parlor looked wonderful as you walked by. Hello to you both and your mom and sister. Lovely dog as well. Enjoy your week! I think the comment about putting a pin in the outer tine to hold the pusher on while you back up, makes sense. 💗🐄 🌄🚜
Hello❤
Hello❤
merry christmas guys tom i love listening to your dad because he knows what he is talking about it's great to hear people nowadays mumble too much but your dad speaks nice and clear.
👀🙄🐾👍Andrew is correct maize is very good for finishing beef cattle
I love the video. Your dad's a wealth of knowledge. It's great the 2 of you sitting down talking about stuff.
Congratulations to yourself and Joanne on the arrival of baby Harvey, is Joanne enjoying being a new mum, first Xmas as parents enjoy❤
Brilliant video. Thanks. Congrats on the new addition to the family.
Just a quick note in case you weren't aware. The volume levels in the first bit was up and down a lot. I turned my volume up so I could hear what you were saying then it got loud again and I woke the house up 🤣
Ahh so sorry 🙈think it was the talk over volume
I am constantly amazed at the breadth of knowledge required to run a farm. I went a little pale when you mentioned what your power bill was in a month. Thank you so much for putting out these videos. I wish they were required watching in our school system. I think that people are becoming more disconnected from how food is produced. All the best from Canada
Bonjour tom encore une super vidéo 📹 merci pour le partage félicitations pour le bébé a bientôt pour d'autres vidéos amicalement de la France dominique du 62
We finish 450 cattle every year with Dairy quality silage and a mixture of oats and barley and sometimes if wheat is the same price as barley we add some near the end to firm the carcass. It’s not fast to fatten but is good value.
Enjoyed the video. Alot of good points. At times having a lot of stock seams the best thing, but as you said more work more pressure on everything and everyone as you just become a dad and weather has been horrible ease the load for all the family return some cash flow back in the pot . 😊 .
Your dad’s enthusiasm is just class . Must be great to work along side that on a daily basis . What a legend
Always thought your dad was proud of you, now we have the evidence. Like how you, your dad and the rest of the team you have work things out together.
And those calves, well spoilt.👍
Your dads a true legend and the whole family (this includes your workers) shows that you and the whole family love respect each other they cope but your all cogs needed in the machine x😊
Tom and Joanna congratulations on little Harvey. Hes something special for sure. I just love your channel. Thanks for sharing with us.
Early! Its 6am here in Brazil n Im already pumped by the farm life of Tom. I love it
I hope your mom's doctor's appointment goes well.
Thankyou both for explaining , teaching , showing us farming .
A very challenging job . Always changing . Thankyou
From a city person .
Great to see you both, Good video , your dad marvellous, one negative is that music! better to listen to the background natural noise. 🙂
Hey Tom would you be able to show all of your property to see from where to where does it go to. If you have time I love to see your land it’s so beautiful
Olly blogs had a 1 ton tote bin that you could move with pallet forks in his yard a couple of months ago
Loving the Sunday vid mate hope you and Jo are getting some much needed sleep. I remember those days well when my three were babies 😴😴😴
Wooooo a Sunday vid from Tom 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for the muck delivery Tom, some of it has already been put to good use by the volunteers to mulch one of our hedges 👍👍👍
I'm loving the Sunday video and it was a great one 😊
Love your relationship with your dad!z great video explaining so much about how a diary / beef herd works❤
Thank you Tom & dad it’s nice to see you all again 😊❤❤
Looks really good, I suppose with the different things that are happening it won't be long before milking becomes fully automated. I know there are some farms that have robot milkers, would be interesting to see something on that if you can find one to film. 👍
Love a Sunday video catch up, And it’s always nice to feel missed when you’ve been away 👌
All looking great - improving every week 👍. One word of warning is to watch your heat lamp - if they drop on the straw it will take seconds to go up in flames. Good luck with all projects going forward.
Such a lovely hardworking family ❤
Congratulations on your new baby Harvey from your big fan well done on your videos
Thanks for another great video Tom. Your videos sure are fun to watch, cows, baby cows, and young Charlie letting the wind blow him around on his scooter. BeWell and StaySafe on the Farm ✌️💚🖖
We fed homegrown Oats and Barley (rolled in a mill) very cheaply and successfully to all the stock. (Calves, cows, young stock and fattening Beasts, and In lamb Ewes).
Do it and save yourself a fortune.
Do you plan to rear all your calves in future? Do you have enough housing and grass to do that?
A good vid today, more please!
Enough grass yeah, enough space probs not 🙈
Welcome home, Tom. Great vid, I love listening to the 'Ginger Warrior'.Lots of things going on.
Hi Tom, good video, a decent maize crop will yield the same tons of dry matter/ha as 3 or 4 cuts of grass silage. So can you use maize as part of reseed rotation to improve so poorer grass lays?
Or scale back the beef enterprise to just what’s your shop requires and scale back work load and use the grass area the beef would graze to grow maize for the dairy cows.
Sometimes less is more.
👍
That butter fat content sounds wonderful. You obviously are doing things right. Cheers to the whole Pemberton family and a special ❤ for little Harvey.
Best of luck with everything on the farm ahead 👍👍👍
I would love it if you could do a 5-minute check-in with all the animals. How are the sheep and the highlands getting on?
Good to listen to your Dad 👍
Your dad is very sensible saying reduce to get more and walk before you run. The way forward is by steady progress not all at once, try before you buy. Hope Jo and Harvey both doing well and not to many sleepless nights.
Great video, reminded me of the silage wheel pusher I made in 1984 out of scrap rsj old lorry back duel wheel for height and hooked onto our Matbro pin and cone face plate and won the Cornwall YFC item out of scrap competition 1984....
Still here today (on the scrap pile)
Aww what a lovely thing for him to say ❤️
Your dad really missed u lad bless ye all and new baby well done 👏
congratulations Tom and Joanna welcome to the new member of your family, baby Harvey. I’m interested in whether you drink raw milk only and what’s the controversy regarding raw or pasteurised milk.
Good to hear of your new addition. Baby Harvey and our grandson Henry ( born mid Sept.) will be growing up with only an ocean between them. Best wishes to all and Merry Christmas when it comes. Feeding corn to your beef will change the fat to a yellow tinge. If they're used to the barley-fed white fat that might be a concern.
When we changed over to a heat recovery system in our dairy we were surprised by the temperature of the water coming out as well. 20 years since we milked our own cows and the day-to-day struggles haven't changed much. Still a rewarding life and a great place to watch children grow up!
Fantastic episode Tom! Your family warms my ❤The wisdom of the Ginger Warrior is GOLDEN CONTENT! Give our Love to your wife and son! Can’t wait for Tuesday! Don’t forget to budget a CanAm quad or two, and a new Hilux for the Business❤️
🎄Merry Christmas🎄
Question >>> Have you ever tried Crystalyx for feeding during the Grazing time? I use it here in Canada and I find the cost is well worth it and it makes sure they have a second choice if they are looking for more.
You could save the small milk tank as a water tank, if you ever want to add water to your ration you have the tank ready!
Your dad summed up the workload in farming in a nutshell. Especially dairy farms!
Keep well,
🎄 MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄
4:05 could you go backwards with the pusher upper if you brought the teeth down to the prongs to keep it from sliding off?👍
Good video! Congratulations to your family with the new baby! Your Dad has a new farm hand! Lol!
Hello Tom. I am houding maïs for my beef stock. Blonde d,aquitaine.
They grow very good on maïs.
10KG PER cow a day with 20 kg silage and 1kg pellets.
could you add a chain on top of the pusher-upper-thingy? You could clip it to the grab or forks so you can drive backwards..
Another great video as always Tom 👌
Could you drop the clamp down when the pusher up is on , maybe move it in a tine , then be able to go backwards without it falling off ? Great video as always Tom and Andrew and congratulations again 👶👣
here in the states we mostly use j bunks for beef cows and floor feed for dairy never thought of having to push up feed for our beef cows on our farm since we use bunks but that thing looks awesome
Hey Tom, quick suggestion for potentially being able to use the new pusher-upper backwards. You could potentially use a c-clamp/g-clamp on the tine(assuming it's flat) to make it so the pusher-upper can't slide off the front. Clamps are pretty cheap, and you may even have some laying around already, so it may be worth giving it a shot.
Would just pull off under load, just chain it to the backplate. Neither will get done as it means getting off the machine 😂
Congratulations on birth of Harvey 🍀
From Kerry in ireland lots off men using sugar beet to finish cattle for the factory they swear by it currently costing between 60 and 80 euros a ton and the Keenan diet feeders are great for chopping it up
Happy families 👍
Your dad is cool
Hi praise from your dad indeed at the end
At the end of the winter, any cereals left over, we would bag up. However the rats would chew the bags. One year we spread lime around the bags, rats dod not go near them.
Excellent video.
Andrew is looking well.
I'm wondering if you have looked into wind power.
Not the windmills but rather, horizontal wind turbines.
They are mounted on the ridges of the large sheds and are much more discrete than the traditional windmills.
Weld a nut or and grind a dull point into a bolt and you’ve got a set bolt that might allow you to go backwards
Remember that in the States we have Corn Fed beef. Corn helps marble the meat, so feeding beef stock corn (maze) will actually finish them sooner.
You'd do well to consider crimping wheat or barley instead of maize Tom. Looks like clamp volume is an issue for you, so crimp will take up considerably less space than maize, is probably lower risk in your part of the world and can either offset or compliment your bought in cake.
Awe. Such sweet little calves❤
The pusher thing - drill a small hole and put a bolt in the hole just tight enough to bite on the fork/tine your using and you should get forward and rear travel Tom …
Another amazing video once again keep up the amazing work 😊❤
197th! Good Sunday afternoon Tom,Luke,HIEDI,and the ginger warrior with a mustache! Good luck sleeping for the next year or so. Roger in Pierre South Dakota
When moving the calf’s back into their clean pen I saw a calf limping
Absolutely love this channel
I've learnt so much about the farm life and I can't wait to pop to the farm to get a milkshake
Could put a chain on the pusher so it can't fall off.
Fantastic Sunday video, keep up the good work you are doing on the farm, and merry Christmas to you all .
Hi Tom, I would definitely think of extended your cow house into the planned viewing area(calf area) once you get your new calf house finished. A cheap way of expanding herd size. Most milking herd sizes are 200+. My uncle used to talk about 1 million litres to pay the labour and another million litres for your income. You are adding extra value by bottling your milk which he did not do.
Called in for some milk from the cabin on 😂Saturday night after a trip to the illuminations! Best milk ever! Will call again
I bet their glad to have you back but you must learn now to get a balance as Jo and that new son of yours will need your time too.
The farm is improving all the time and gettjng more and more efficient and you seem to have really good happy staff which is very important it's like one big family not just the actual family which is nice
Great that the guys over the road will push silage up for you daily that's another job delegated and will improve the beef side of things, will be interesting to see what the maize silage and barley does
And that's really impressive butterfat and protein figures that's the beauty of mixing your breeds in your herd and a lot of farmers seem to be going away from holsteins and back to the old dairy breeds which is nice to see
Nice to see you back Tom. Congrats on becoming a Dad. Can you do a video at some point about the different types of cows, EG heifers, dry cows etc Thanks
careful if your using soda wheat or barley not sure if this is what your talking about not good for feet
Take one beef cow, last 30 days corn siliage its main ration portion and no skimping on ration size, It will marble the final product
Would be great when you can , quick chat about dairy cows diet, what and why
Thanks again for your time and positive input to our industry across the world 🌎
Love a good Sunday video 🎉. Although love a Tuesday and Friday video just as much 👍🏻👌
Great video Tom 👍👍
Another very interesting video Thank you 😊😊😊😊
