I will try this but bake the meatballs prior so i can drain the grease from them and use a baking pan instead of the foil bowls. Thank you for the idea/recipe. Anchorage, Alaska
Better idea; don't use this recipe. People pass off complete garbage as some sort of useful recipe all the time. Either this person is ignorant, or is grifting you for money.
Then use that instead. Why are you on here crying about the foil bowl he made when you don't have to do that? You see, the thing that is great about being an adult is you can do things the way you want to without bi*ching about it 🤷🏽♂️.
It's nice to give a tip but it is always great to add it graciously, like "great idea; I would use foil pie pans...expense" so it doesn't make one seem like they are criticizing and appreciate that someone took the time to make the food, make the video, and share.
Yesterday I put this recipe in my Favorites, I cooked it today and just finished this wonderful meal. My wife said, "Outstanding!" She is know to use such words. Try it, you will like it.
Can't you just use a round glass casserole dish. Why all the extra work with the foil. Only to then have to transfer the finished dish into another dish.
Looks great. Now try the same thing with the exception of sauteing the onions WITH fresh chopped garlic in olive oil before adding it to the meat. This is for those who don't like the texture of raw onions in their meatballs, all the taste without the crunch. Enjoy.😀
A few thoughts. All the grease from the meatballs went into the mashed potatoes. Why not do it in a 9x13 inch pan to save work and foil? Do they use anything besides mozzarella cheese, has anyone ever seen them put a heart by anything? It's kind of strange.
I actually think the bread crumbs in the beef might keep the potatoes from being saturated. Bread really soaks up oil, but I could be wrong. Personally, I wouldn't make this recipe as I wasn't very impressed, especially since he didn't show how he neatly got it out of the foil, so I call bullshit! I didn't subscribe.
@FloridaCracker-et5mw When I make meatloaf with breadcrumbs, there is always grease. I even use a lower fat content hamburger. I didn't subscribe either.
It can be whatever someone prefers and has on hand. If you have round small tin pans of your own, or foil or a casserole dish. Thanks for the different way to do meatballs and mashed potatoes. Hi from Chicago, illinois.

The AI voiceover said you guys would leave a heart for anyone providing their hometown. No hearts. No hearts to be seen at all. I’m from Cleveland. Okay then, waiting for my heart. Holding my breath, can’t wait.
And to think, I was going to make meatloaf and mashed potatoes tomorrow for dinner! I'm going to try this, looks yummy, thanks for sharing. From Northern California.
That looks super yummy. I am definitely going to make it. However I am on the carnivore diet, so I will not use the mashed potatoes at all. I will just add tons more cheese instead. I might even put some under the meatballs too....
@@nastypatty26Still gonna have some grease. What if we cook the meatballs first and drain ALL the grease out and then put them in the foil bowl ??? It probably might be a little dry, But wouldn't it be better than eating all that grease ?
This looks wonderful! But I agree I would just use a 13 by 9 inch baking pan instead of the foil method. But it sounds yummy, and I’m definitely going to make it. Love from Littleton, Colorado.
We had an anniversary party for the Comer family. Lilian Campbell brought meatballs, and they're always terrible. They are 1 percent meat and 99 percent breadcrumbs. If you put them in the oven, they vulcanize. The guests couldn't refuse them, but they didn't eat them. We found them in potted plants, between magazine covers. In the fireplace. James Mason had twenty in his jacket pocket when he went home. Next time, we'll just ask her to bring rolls.
If you can find at your local store 93/7 meat to fat then it should be ok but anything under 85% would turn the potatoes into a soggy grease sponge. Personally though I would cook the meat balls by themselves then add them to the potatoes once I am ready to top them with cheese.

Good point.
Foil pie pans would be so much easier, with very little added expense.

Meatball shepherds pie
Upside down "Italian" meatball shepherd's pie. UDIMSP for short 😂
Yes, true. I'm going to do try this and add peas and carrots and corn.
Shepherds pie contains lamb not beef
Can't you just use a round glass casserole dish. Why all the extra work with the foil. Only to then have to transfer the finished dish into another dish.
Yep glass pie pan. Or any casserole dish. The foil is toxic anyway.
I guess if you don't have a dish, but have tin foil?
Not to mention, they didn't show removing it from the foil. I would make a mess during the transfer! 😅

Remember, Kids, always shred your own cheese. Preshredded is dry. It’s not as creamy and it doesn’t give a decent cheese-pull.
I didn't know that 😮
