another kiwi here mate, sweet vids, hey would you benefit much from a tune after this exhaust install? some people tune after every little upgrade to their car, some don't. ??
Awesome, love hearing from our Kiwi mates, and thanks! You would see some benefit from a tune after the exhaust install but you would from stock as well. In saying that you absolutely don't need to in an NA car, and if you plan on doing more mods I would certainly wait for those first. I really couldn't see any reason to tune after each little mod, the money you would spend could go a long way else where and would only really be for small changes in the tune, again at least for an NA car. Cheers and hope you enjoy what we have coming up mate 👍
Couple of reasons but you nailed one of the big ones, budget. From memory I don’t think I’ve seen a quad tip/twin exit system for less than $1-1.5k compared to something like $300 for the current cat back. Add to that that the quad system would then likely need modifying to line up with the end of the cat, which makes it something that not everyone can do at home, that this exhaust setup will likely all be replaced when the car goes turbo and that the rear diffuser and bumper on this car are fairly rough and need replacing anyway. Too many factors against it for now. Fair question though, if this exhaust was staying I may have been motivated to do it cause it does look great when done right.
What I want to know is can you bolt on the factory heatshield after installing the new extractors? Unlike a lot of people I personally actually like the look of the heatshield attached to the engine, just makes it look more bulky and more powerful haha
Are the revs any lower then before the upgrade like mine is 2000revs at 110 kilometres per hour with just standed what would it be lower with the performance exhaust system and extractors?
Hey Browny! I got what you got with the catback, but instead of another replacement centre-muffler, I accidentally got a straight piped through the centre. Do you think this would be too loud with a set of same headers that you have installed? Cheers , Max.
I think it would have been too loud for me personally and may have been a little droney. Hard to say for sure though, and it’s big time a personal preference thing… oh and I’m getting old so that’s a factor too 🤣
A lot of these are only filmed by myself so it’s normally a rush back to the camera before it gets flogged! 🤣 So when I have a helper I make sure they don’t have to walk home… as long as they get the shot
@Lakota Perrone Hey mate, I believe this is due to clearance issues with the converter. Perhaps it's possible with or without moving this and I don't have any personal experience with this but I'm not aware of any kit advertised as LPG equipped car friendly. If you try a knowledgeable exhaust shop like DEA they may be able to give you a concrete answer/solution though? Good luck mate
Nothing special, 2 are Kincrome 3T I believe and the others I've had for that long I couldn't be sure, think they're a Total Tools brand of probably 3-4T again.
No just the gaskets in each section. Have since removed this exhaust to go turbo and had no signs of exhaust leaks that I could see so seemed to be enough.
Another awesome video thanks Browney. Just out of curiosity, where did you get the rubber supports on your chassis stands please? I wouldn't mind some like that myself.
@Andrew Green Hey Andrew, thanks mate. I picked them up from the below listed eBay seller out of the UK. Expensive postage but I bought a heap to make it worth while (he's got a load of different sizes including for jacks), and at the time I was looking at option to get something similar going over here but never happened. I do like the idea and product though so maybe one day I'll revisit it, believe they are machined super solid rubber hockey pucks! www.ebay.com.au/usr/cav.mar1?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
Hey Browney, slim chance you see this but im putting a ba back together and was wondering if you recall the size bolts used to connect the exhaust manifold to the stock cat converter, thanks mate.
Hmm I couldn't see it listed as a kit for FG, but looks like they do each individual component. Maybe shoot them an e-mail and see if they can put a complete kit and price together?
@@Recklessbah i got one for my fg no worries. looked on ebay and got the flow through center muffler with muffler delete together. gonna get it installed in a couple of days
@@Recklessbah I’m just testing the waters with this to see if it’s a cop magnet or not first😂 I’m thinking of getting them once I know how it sounds. It’s not like browney’s where it has two mufflers in the kit
Hey Browney great video mate! Just wondering how are you finding the exhaust kit after sometime? Still reckon it could be a bit louder? Thinking of getting the same kit as the one you use or the one without the front muffler. Thanks
Thanks mate. Exhaust is going great, very happy with it so far and in hindsight I think it’s the right system for me. Has a great balance of being nice when cruising but noticeably louder when driving it hard, don’t think I’d want to go playing with it now.
Interesting, never seen pacemakers on a late model falcon before. Do they come with longer primary version? These seem really sort for what I have known pacemaker to make. I was expecting more of a raspy sound to be honest but still sounds better than the stock egg beater sound that's for sure.
@Alan L Hey mate, thanks for watching. Have never actually tried but have just gone out and had a look to see if it would sit over - doesn't look like it would work, or at least not easily. It dips down too quickly/hugs too close, would need to be bent up but the way it's made I'm not sure how well you'd go doing that. As an alternative you can pick up universal heat shields to cut and form, something like this - www.carbuilders.com.au/aluminium-embossed-heat-shield
Yes. Mine is set up with the factory shield over the same headers. I have LPG gear hanging around so I guess it's called for. I didn't fit it, but it looks rather snug and has definitely been adjusted with a precision tool : P Seems like it mostly needed clearance for the 3rd primary pipe from the front of the motor. There are 5 grooves in the shield, and the 2nd groove from the front has been modified to clear that 3rd pipe, seems like. It's been belted out to roughly level in a small area; just a few inches of the lower end of that 2nd groove (closest to the ground). So maybe a third of the groove was flattened out. The shield may have also been flared / pulled out somewhat along the lower edge towards the rear. It's a bit hard to tell. None of the lower mounting bolts for the shield are fitted obviously, it's just the upper ones holding it on, but it's firm and doesn't rattle or anything. Hope that helps. You could also thermal wrap them or send them off for a nice and shiny (expensive) ceramic coating.
@Duncan Cameron All costs are in the video description but the kit was $950 (ebay.to/2V2XID0) plus about $50 for the extra manifold gasket and oxygen sensor plug I used. Headers are great, Pacemaker have been doing this for a long time 👍
@Sam MacDonald Hi Sam, that was anti-seize on the O2 sensor. They get a decent amount of moisture and corrosion and can be a real pain to remove at times so it's handy to do this if you can. Rest of the system was assembled without any loctite, have done so in the past with no dramas. Thanks for watching mate.
Haven't personally owned a car with one but my brother had a mid muffler delete of his BA Turbo for a bit. All personal preference but it was probably a bit loud for me and would drone a little at cruise/lower speeds. I prefer the note of the system I have now too, maybe a bit deeper. Plenty of videos around and people who have posted sound clips on groups though, see what sounds best to you. Good luck mate 👍
Hey Browney i’ve noticed a significant bit of lag when applying a large amount of throttle even having it in first gear any idea as to what it could be? i’ve had a very solid look online and most point towards the injectors but i’m not 100% certain what i do know for sure is that it’s definitely a fuel related issue and it’s seems to be most profound around the engine block itself i don’t really notice any signs that it could be a sticky pump as i’ve replaced the pump recently; another noticeable thing is a very gassy smell from the exhaust but no signs of leakages from fuel lines or anything like that any sort of help would be appreciated.
I’ve been giving a 2inch xforce catback that brand new I have the same ones on already what could I do to modify it to make louder, sorry about the dumb question but I’m new to car scene and I wanna make my ba sound a bit louder
Could remove a muffler and replace it with a straight section of pipe or a resonator, any exhaust shop could do it fairly cheap if you can’t yourself. You’ll get a million opinions on what sounds good and not and it’s all personal preference, see if you can find sound clips of cars you like and be careful of going too loud - often sounds good for a while/at the right times but can become a real headache quickly.
Hey mate, if we're doing this for the first time is there anything you can emphasise to double check. I would be installing a system on my au xr6. Has a stuffed head gasket right now and I'm gonna get it back on the road eventually but I feel like experimenting with the exhaust while it's just sitting around. I've heard 4480s are good with a middle or rear muffler delete.
Double check as far as removing/fitting? Hard to get too much wrong but getting the rear section over the diff can be tough, watch for rusted bolts wanting to snap (penetrant and heat may help, some may be unavoidable though) and of course be careful of cross threading/over tightening in the softer head material. On muffler setup, my old EB had middle muffler and rear resonator which I was happy with, depends on muffler styles too of course though.
@Simon Gruevski I believe it’s injector or lifter tick, or a combination of both. Seems to be fairly typical in these to varying degrees. If you find out for sure though let me know!
@ty tee Thanks mate, all good points 👍. I’d been meaning to reply in here actually, found when I was changing spark plugs that not all the rubbers between the coils and coil cover were there and sorting this has made things a bit quieter under there... not perfect, but seems that was some of it at least!
@Gregoire Soler Sorry mate I've never done it or looked into it. Last conversion I did was the other way, BTR to T5, and it was E-series stuff so dead easy - that's going to be quite a bit more difficult I'd say.
@Benson Hedges Imagine you’d be pretty close performance wise but would probably be a decent bit louder. May even be pretty close to the price of the full system though if you get someone to to cut and replace the muffler, up to you though. Good luck 👍
Only difference will be the very rear tip area. XR have a cut out in the bumper, XT likely won't and needs to be dumped down to suit. DEA/most exhaust shops should have the same system with allowance for this to suit though if you look for it or let them know when you order.
Not that simple I'd say, different diff makes the rear section guaranteed to be different and I believe the front section will be as well. Same same for headers/extractors and maybe cat section. Easy enough to get exhaust for wagon anyway though.
@Maximum occupancy 120 Haven’t really compared sound or looked into it but wasn’t Di Filippo the go for these at one stage? Not sure if you can still get your hands on one, maybe have a search over at FordForums.com.au for more info if you haven’t already?
Hi Browney, Did you use a standard header gasket from ford? They told me they only have the one sort. Can I mention your name in my video when I install my exhaust system. You have shown me a lot to fix my car, I have a bf xr6. Thanks for all your help mate. Maybe I can buy you a beer one day we are both in Vic
@jade saccuzzo Hey mate, that’s right just the standard Ford gasket. Of course you can, no problem at all. Let me know when it’s out, I’ll definitely check it out. Glad I’ve helped mate, I’m just a backyard hack working it out as I go like most of us! Cheers
Hi again Browney, iv got a problem. Can you please help. New exhaust kit like yours only with a hot dog, New oxygen senses, and my Engine light has come on? Where should o go from here?
@@DAWNDCREW Hi Jade. Bugger, being a later BF I’m guessing it has 2 oxygen sensors? Sorry I’ve overlooked this as I haven’t had to deal with it on mine. That second sensor as far as I know (and remember I’m no expert!) is for diagnostics, that is checking the cat is functioning as expected rather than for fuel adjustments. Cat now flows better/is cleaning less exhaust gases and so it thinks there’s a cat issue. Tuners will normally turn off this second sensors function, and this is the ideal solution. Can be done to just remove this and not have a full tune done I believe if you don’t want to go down that path and you find a good tuner happy to help, not sure on cost but less than a full tune obviously. Alternatively you can try one of the below adapters on that rear oxygen sensor (all much the same and plenty from other companies about too, have just given different angles depending on what will best suit you). I can’t guarantee this will work but the idea seems sound and has been done on many different models as well, and of course is much cheaper again. These add some further catalyst material before it gets to that sensor, hopefully making the sensor think the cat is running efficiently. Up to you if you try the cheaper option, honestly I probably would if I wasn’t going to get a tune in the future, but just bear in mind that using the cheaper solution sometimes means you pay twice! bit.ly/2WtBSKl bit.ly/2OvDrD1 bit.ly/2CDhVK2
Hey mate love your content,I actually did the same on mine but used the competition pacemakers-venom hi flow cat with redback 2.5" sports exhaust. Also did the fg inlet manifold at the same time.vids on my J. Looking forward to seeing more mate👍
@Johnny HCF Just went over to your channel and checked it out. How do you like the FG inlet manifold, did you end up getting it tuned? Much gain in your opinion from the intake? Thanks for watching mate 👍
Hey Brownie,no haven't had the money to get it tuned yet,but this is the second time I've done the fg manifold,on the ba it has a flat spot down low-but beyond that with the K&N panel filter & exhaust it definitely breathes better. First time was on my Barra swapped XG which had 25% underdrive etc-not tuned but adjusted to drive the auto manually with the tiptronic and it drove incredibly well compared with the BBM.
Not this system specifically, but they will have a near identical system to suit utes. The rear section of the exhaust will be different to suit the rear axle differences between utes and sedans. Thanks for watching mate!
Came as part of the kit, standard with the Pacemakers from memory. Pretty standard hardware though and the specs should be online somewhere if you need them by themselves, don’t have them handy at the moment sorry.
@Alick Lambeth Yes and no. If you're just going cat back then this will likely bolt up to the stock gear (just confirm with manufacturer before ordering). If you're going headers/extractors then the cat section will need to be cut and re welded, which will obviously cost money unless you can do it yourself at which stage you may just be better off upgrading the rest.
Yes, except the very last section. The XT doesn't have a bumper cut out for the tailpipe to stick out where the XR does, but if you have a look at their store or contact them they'll have one to suit.
The extractors yes, the exhaust itself has different bends and mount points for the territory being a different body shape. I'm sure you'd find a kit for territory, if not take it to an exhaust place. I had to do that with mine (One tonner) as the kits are all for tub utes, and the tonners are different
@@BrowneysGarage but to get the most out of the the parts a tune is required. It would be cool to see the difference between a dyno tune and no to tune because I reckon the there would be a big difference

another kiwi here mate, sweet vids, hey would you benefit much from a tune after this exhaust install? some people tune after every little upgrade to their car, some don't.
I know you went on a budget, but you have twin exhaust diffuser, why did you not get the quad tip kit?
Hey mate if your in vic and looking for a tune to compliment all yours mods id be more then happy to help
@Nick Humphreys Hey Nick thanks mate. Are you able to shot me an email so we can have a chat? browneysgarage@gmail.com
@@BrowneysGarage yeh no worries
Hi Nick I’m in Vic I would like mine tuned also
What I want to know is can you bolt on the factory heatshield after installing the new extractors?
Unlike a lot of people I personally actually like the look of the heatshield attached to the engine, just makes it look more bulky and more powerful haha
Nah you they don’t fit you’ll have to get an aftermarket one
@@victordoran7514 dang
Looks n sounds good!
Could the heat shield not be fitted over new header?
Don't believe it would fit without a decent amount of hackery and bending, could be wrong though. Thanks mate 👍
Great vid. I like the black tips better than Crome. Sounds good 👍
@Chris Smith Thanks mate, will definitely work for now at least! 👍
Hard to say for sure though, and it’s big time a personal preference thing… oh and I’m getting old so that’s a factor too 🤣
Love the sense of humour XD XD
@Over Flow Legend, glad you do cause the missus sure doesn't! 👍
Bit off topic and late, but why is my 03 ba immobiliser light flashing, and doesn’t allow me start the car
Hi Browney What size sockets need to take off cat pipe and exhaust please
Hope you didn't forget to pickup the camera person/missus at the end there....you just kept going haha. Cheers 4 sharing sir.
A lot of these are only filmed by myself so it’s normally a rush back to the camera before it gets flogged! 🤣 So when I have a helper I make sure they don’t have to walk home… as long as they get the shot
@@BrowneysGarage hahaha atleast ya went back hey...
Love ypur vid man keen to see what makes down the track
@Tim_ Arnold Thanks mate. Me too, can’t wait till we can get back out there. Few more mods to go before then, hope you enjoy mate
Hey browney did you have to silicone your gaskets on the exhaust system ? Cheers
No silicone mate, just the gaskets.
Sounds so good
@The Sellout Thanks mate, I’ve been really happy with it.
Apparently they dont work for LPG, (thats what the website says) Do i have any options or am I stuck with Factory?
@Lakota Perrone Hey mate, I believe this is due to clearance issues with the converter. Perhaps it's possible with or without moving this and I don't have any personal experience with this but I'm not aware of any kit advertised as LPG equipped car friendly.
If you try a knowledgeable exhaust shop like DEA they may be able to give you a concrete answer/solution though? Good luck mate
I run these headers and aftermarket LPG (Vialle) with no problems.
What jack stands did you use trying to find 4 good ones to help with lifting my xr6
Nothing special, 2 are Kincrome 3T I believe and the others I've had for that long I couldn't be sure, think they're a Total Tools brand of probably 3-4T again.
Awesome video mate, did you use any sealant products when connecting all the piping together?

Hey Browney, slim chance you see this but im putting a ba back together and was wondering if you recall the size bolts used to connect the exhaust manifold to the stock cat converter, thanks mate.
I saw it! My factory manifold has studs, just measure the exposed end as M10 x 1.25 so hopefully same both ends. Hope that helps, good luck mate.
@@BrowneysGarage thanks mate really appreciate it!
Don’t they make this package for a fg???cant seem to find it. 😩

@@BrowneysGarage thank you
Interesting, never seen pacemakers on a late model falcon before. Do they come with longer primary version? These seem really sort for what I have known pacemaker to make.
I was expecting more of a raspy sound to be honest but still sounds better than the stock egg beater sound that's for sure.
what happens if you dont plug that second oxy sensor? leak or something?
Good series of videos. Just wondering if the original heat shield will fit back over the "Pacemaker" headers.
I didn't fit it, but it looks rather snug and has definitely been adjusted with a precision tool : P
Seems like it mostly needed clearance for the 3rd primary pipe from the front of the motor.
Gather the factory heat shields wouldn't fit ?
Not from what I could see sorry mate.
@@BrowneysGarage Hey it's all good, chances are i wouldn't be able to use the factory heat shield which i was hoping i'd be able to lol
Can always get some of the universal heat shield material and bend/cut to the shape you need?
What's the approx cost of the kit ?
like the headers they look well made
@Duncan Cameron All costs are in the video description but the kit was $950 (ebay.to/2V2XID0) plus about $50 for the extra manifold gasket and oxygen sensor plug I used.
Headers are great, Pacemaker have been doing this for a long time 👍
I noticed you put loctite on the o2 sensor, do you need to put any on the bolts to the heads?
@Sam MacDonald Hi Sam, that was anti-seize on the O2 sensor. They get a decent amount of moisture and corrosion and can be a real pain to remove at times so it's handy to do this if you can.
Rest of the system was assembled without any loctite, have done so in the past with no dramas.
Thanks for watching mate.
how does this system compare to a stock system with a muffler delete?
Haven't personally owned a car with one but my brother had a mid muffler delete of his BA Turbo for a bit.
All personal preference but it was probably a bit loud for me and would drone a little at cruise/lower speeds. I prefer the note of the system I have now too, maybe a bit deeper.
Plenty of videos around and people who have posted sound clips on groups though, see what sounds best to you. Good luck mate 👍
Just wondering did you use the standard gasket when installing the headers? Cheers
No problem mate, just used a new genuine Ford gasket so yes just standard.
Sweet cheers mate
Get your gearbox serviced. I had same issue, a gearbox service from a reliable professional did justice for me.
Hello mate..those 449 pace maker.. Can they be fitted to a territory also
..
Their website lists the same part number so I believe so.
What was the sound like inside of the car?
I have that exhaust but did rear muffler delete not bad system ay 👌
Where's the link for the site
Hey mate, just wondering what the xforce sounds like, been looking into it a fair bit but I’m worried it just won’t be loud enough
Should do a gps install or alarm install 🧐
4480 pacemakers and a cat back 2.5" hotdog with straight rear pipe with the same 100 cell cat you are using
Did you noticed better low end torque?
Was a while ago now but from memory a little, real gains were in the mid and top end though.
Browney do you have any idea what that ticking noise is when you start it up after you put on the exhaust system? I have it too cant figure it out
@Simon Gruevski I believe it’s injector or lifter tick, or a combination of both. Seems to be fairly typical in these to varying degrees.
If you find out for sure though let me know!
Browney's Garage i tried the “quiet lifter noise bottle” but doesn’t seem to help. I guess i just have to deal with it🤷♂️
@Simon Gruevski If I ever find a fix I'll let you know but as long as it doesn't cause any issues I'll go on in ignorant bliss 🤣
@ty tee Thanks mate, all good points 👍. I’d been meaning to reply in here actually, found when I was changing spark plugs that not all the rubbers between the coils and coil cover were there and sorting this has made things a bit quieter under there... not perfect, but seems that was some of it at least!
How hard is it to go from a BF manual to ZF trans? Sick of the manual.
@Gregoire Soler Sorry mate I've never done it or looked into it. Last conversion I did was the other way, BTR to T5, and it was E-series stuff so dead easy - that's going to be quite a bit more difficult I'd say.
I feel that will be the best option. Too much hassle converting the transmission. Is there going to be a turbo upgrade soon? :) :)
@Gregoire Soler Stay tuned to find out 😉
Real nice.
Will it fit on an 05 ba wagon?
Would pacemaker extractors and then just cutting out a muffler and adding a high flow cat do the same thing, I wanna keep my shit stock as possible
@Benson Hedges Imagine you’d be pretty close performance wise but would probably be a decent bit louder. May even be pretty close to the price of the full system though if you get someone to to cut and replace the muffler, up to you though. Good luck 👍
Browney's Garage cheers, thanks for your thoughts man
Mine has rear muffler deleted and it’s not that much louder
Sharon S got the centre muffler cut out the other day and replaced it with a hotdog
Way better off with a full system and good quality mufflers / cats. Cat delete is even better.
Does anyone know if a xr6 exhaust is the same as a ford falcon bf xt exhaust?
Only difference will be the very rear tip area. XR have a cut out in the bumper, XT likely won't and needs to be dumped down to suit. DEA/most exhaust shops should have the same system with allowance for this to suit though if you look for it or let them know when you order.
Yeah the boat!
I got a ba wagon do you think this would fit without having to extend any piping
Not that simple I'd say, different diff makes the rear section guaranteed to be different and I believe the front section will be as well. Same same for headers/extractors and maybe cat section. Easy enough to get exhaust for wagon anyway though.
Good job
Does anyone know the best exhaust system for a fpv gt im trying to get one with a deep Tone medium loudest but can’t find one I like
@Maximum occupancy 120 Haven’t really compared sound or looked into it but wasn’t Di Filippo the go for these at one stage? Not sure if you can still get your hands on one, maybe have a search over at FordForums.com.au for more info if you haven’t already?
Browney's Garage yeah I can only find really good ones for holden that have a deep Tone in it
Hi Browney, Did you use a standard header gasket from ford? They told me they only have the one sort. Can I mention your name in my video when I install my exhaust system. You have shown me a lot to fix my car, I have a bf xr6. Thanks for all your help mate. Maybe I can buy you a beer one day we are both in Vic
@jade saccuzzo Hey mate, that’s right just the standard Ford gasket.
Of course you can, no problem at all. Let me know when it’s out, I’ll definitely check it out.

Browney's Garage, thanks mate. I will let you know when I post the video

Nice detailed video mate, can i fit these on BF falcon ute?
Not this system specifically, but they will have a near identical system to suit utes. The rear section of the exhaust will be different to suit the rear axle differences between utes and sedans. Thanks for watching mate!
Where did you get the extractors bolts from
Came as part of the kit, standard with the Pacemakers from memory. Pretty standard hardware though and the specs should be online somewhere if you need them by themselves, don’t have them handy at the moment sorry.
Hey browney just wondering will have to get the whole system or non
@Alick Lambeth Yes and no. If you're just going cat back then this will likely bolt up to the stock gear (just confirm with manufacturer before ordering). If you're going headers/extractors then the cat section will need to be cut and re welded, which will obviously cost money unless you can do it yourself at which stage you may just be better off upgrading the rest.
I can’t get the steering shaft back on it doesn’t extend and reach all the way down. Anyone got pointers ASAP

Yes, except the very last section. The XT doesn't have a bumper cut out for the tailpipe to stick out where the XR does, but if you have a look at their store or contact them they'll have one to suit.
What’s does a NA car mean
@Ethan Casboult NA = Naturally Aspirated, no power added or forced induction (turbo, supercharger).
Do these fit on a sy territory or are they different?
The extractors yes, the exhaust itself has different bends and mount points for the territory being a different body shape. I'm sure you'd find a kit for territory, if not take it to an exhaust place. I had to do that with mine (One tonner) as the kits are all for tub utes, and the tonners are different
