Ironically there isn't anything that John Wick does that a human being can't do in the movies. It simply takes years of training to get to the level of John Wick. All of those movements he does are taught in various martial arts and in military hand to hand combat at more advanced levels. John Wick in the universe is a former US Marine who has additional training as an assassin. Also getting hit by a car and not being crippled is a skills issue. Stunt doubles do it all the time for work. So its skills rather than being some kind of fantasy assassin. The ironic part is that both of them have hand to hand combat training that is based in military combatives training. So they would be able to counter each other in hand to hand combat dragging a fist fight out. John Wick is just a much better shot.

Interesting forum but I don't think John Wick would want to confront Jack Reacher simply due to his honor code. If anything, they would be more of an unstoppable duo and would work together.
If both of them were in a more realistic world, I think Reacher would win because he would be able to overpower John, but with both of their plot armor John definitely wins.
Preston is definitely beating Wick. It won't be an easy fight, but Preston is just on another level for skill. Why be good at taking hits when you can just avoid them altogether?
The difference is that John has access to cutting edge technology like the kevlar suit and near limitless access to weapons. Jack is just a well trained, resourceful soldier with lots of combat experience. In a no weapons, no tools, plain hand to hand fight, Jack definitely wins, but in a street fight with no rules in what you can do or bring to the fight, John will win.
2:14 I personally think John wick has his body trained like Muay Thai fighters bc they train their body to be very tough and not to feel pain and with John taking huge falls getting hit by cars and getting punched and kicked constantly and not be strained by the pain he had to have his body trained in some type of way or maybe like the monks and how they train their bodies to feel pain
@MrBeard17 you do understand he faced an entire crime syndicate (twice) with guns, etc, and walked out without a scratch.. While John, on the other hand, actually was captured and could have been killed on multiple occasions, however plot Armor
You've obviously not read the Reacher books. Jack is a highly accurate sniper and crack shot as well. Also, he does not use rage when he fights. In fact, he knows that if a man gets angry, he loses. He is exceptional at analyzing his opponents and has a preternatural ability to know what their next move is. So, this fight might be a lot closer than you imagine. Unarmed, John gets his hand broke, and then his neck broke within a minute. There's no playing with Reacher. With guns, it will depend on the range. At long range, they're probably equal. At Gun-Fu range, John will put a shot into Jack's brain pan, IF (and this is a big if) Jack doesn't make him eat that gun immediately. So John needs to stay out of Jack's reach, something he does only some of the time when using his particular fighting style. Basically, all gun, no fu and John is a healthy living boy. Skill will not allow him to take Jack hand to hand, because Jack has the skill, and the willingness to fight dirty to win. Those bigger guys John beat, all had a code. Jack does no have that same code. Read the books (or at least a few of them). You'll understand.
@gloredon Having read every Reacher book, as you have, your analysis is spot on. The only area I might like to have a discussion might be Close Quarter Combat. As an MP, outside of the 110th, Reacher would both have been trained in and trained teams in Close Quarter encounters. Also, please remember that he was trained as an assassin. If you remember the short story SMALL WARS, he mentions to Joe about the assignment he was on in Central America. PERSUEDER and WITHOUT FAIL might fall in this area as well. Overall, I, like you, don't see John Wick walking away from this encounter IRL.
@@BillWrightabc Precisely. Read the books. Reacher is a reckoning. When you're an MP for posts of special ops guys, you have to learn to be a better fighter than they are. Looking forward to Persuader this upcoming season.
I agree the fan boyism and recency biased for Wick is more disgusting than Batman 😒🙄...overrated and he is much older than Reeves portrayal of him in the movie verse. He's in his 70s. He's not stopping a John J. Rambo honestly. Who's far more skilled, elite, and taken on more than him alone. His suit is as about as durable as agent 47s. If not weaker. Has nothing to do with hand to hand combat. CQC and stabbing weapons. I think Jack gets him too. Good luck with that bjj at close qtrs with a mass monster.
Art is going to anger Jason and whenever Jason touches Art blood will spill. Then Art stabs Jason a lot!! That’s a good fight, whoever revives from death first would be how you decide I guess
"You shouldn't be able to get hit by a car and just walk it off that easily" - I've done it multiple times. When the car is moving at safe inner-city speeds, and you have enough time to see it coming but not to get out of its way, you *can* take measures to absorb the impact and mitigate the damage - and John's movements when being hit by cars are *exactly* the right ones to do so. Get yourself off the ground before the car hits, moves so that the part the car is hitting first is already moving in the direction of the car, and if possible, try and control the impact so you first impact on as steeply angled an impact point as possible (bonnet is ideal, windshield is ok). These actions allow you to roll with the collision and just get thrown about for some nasty bruises and less severe cuts and scraps, instead of breaking or shattering bones and tearing flesh in horrific ways. The falling off buildings part though? Yeah, that requires reality hacks. John Wick is channeling Keanu's past as Neo to pull some of those survival stunts. Bulletproof gear doesn't adequately explain his durability, nor the recovery speed he appears to have after taking wounds around/through the armoured clothing he wears. As for your breakdown here, I think you're making a couple of mistakes, but they aren't serious enough to alter the conclusion. I agree that Reacher falls short of John's level of skill, but I don't think the gap is as big as you're suggesting. And in a related point, Jack Reacher's fighting isn't him running on pure rage. He's a *very* intelligent and calculating fighter, and that shows through in a lot of his fights. Even though he's big, he only "bulldozes" opponents when it's the most efficient solution, *NOT* because he's letting his anger dictate his decision-making. He does use anger for fuel, but so does John Wick, and in basically the same ways. He uses rage to help him to channel more strength, but he doesn't lose himself to it. That said, there is still a skill advantage to John Wick, *and* an advantage in durability (both in his raw physical capabilities being effectively superhuman, and his equipment being superior to the tech available to Reacher). If they're fighting without guns, durability is the main thing which keeps John in this fight. Give them both guns though, and this becomes a true no contest fight. John Wick with a gun is basically an untouchable god of death in any 1v1 encounter, and Reacher's only advantage is entirely irrelevant, while most of his other strengths are weaknesses in comparison to his opponent in this particular fight.
Wick gets bodied all the time and relies on pot armor, I smoke pot and I couldnt ignore that shit. Reacher is fucking huge, and knows how to fight, control himself and his enemy and tactics, is also trained to be unstoppable in direct combat among other types of combat. He knows waaaaay more than john and would definitely crush him in a 1v1 no weapons, with melee weapons? Could be close, but Id still go reacher, if were talking about guns? Stupid arguement.
@@matttheamerican3766 Yeah, lets walk through this: 1v1, unarmed, no access to any improvised weapons, no environmental hazards. Reacher wearing his usual clothes, and Wick wearing his bulletproof suit. Reacher isn't just an elite soldier. He's someone elite soldiers look up to and view as being on a level beyond them. He's at the peak of human fitness for his size, and he's *HUGE* so he's insanely strong and tough. The problem for Reacher is that WIck isn't just on that "elite among elites" level. He knows people on that level, and they look up to him like the regular elites look up to Reacher. The problem for Wick is that he's also at peak physical strength for his size, but he's *NOT* huge like Reacher. That said, he's *BEYOND* peak human durability for his size, which I was treating as superhuman durability, but you're calling plot armour. Lets run with your term, the result is the same either way. When fighting against an opponent who's significantly bigger and stronger than him, John Wick has to be careful how he fights. A gun is a great solution, but without it, he needs a melee weapon of some kind *AND* a bigger skill gap than the one between him and Reacher. He does have an edge in skill, but it's not *enough* of one to outweigh Reacher's advantage in strength. In terms of sheer damage tanking, he's probably more durable than Reacher, but Reacher hits harder than he can shrug off, and the reverse isn't true for his attacks. Fighting completely unarmed, this might as well be Wick vs. Goku or Superman for all the damage he can do to Reacher. His plot armour is only going to give him a few extra seconds of pain before he dies.
Equalizer wins all day.. he took down multiple organizations without needing to revert to using guns.. IQ goes to Equalizer as well as combat. While John, just in the first movie, needed to be saved by a sniper shooting his pillow and plot armor (he could have easily been killed when he was captured and tied to a chair).
John can endure a lot, but in most scenes he also has the chance to regenerate at least briefly, for a few seconds. As you rightly pointed out, Jack is intent on ending the fight as quickly as possible. Maybe he is inferior, but at least in this respect he is a counter character...

I'll go with the winner of The Wimbledon Cup. Wick is good, but Reacher is a freak who can really reach out and touch you. They both have great plot armor, but that should cancel out. Read Reacher's long ranges demonstration in book two.
Next up: John Wick vs The Doom Slayer. Them maybe Jack Reacher vs Anakin Skywalker. I mean, if we're gonna compare a realistic character with a wizard, might as well compare to the actual embodiment of Death itself and a space wizard!
It feels like Wick is operating at 100,000 frames per second; he can observe a punch/bullet thrown at him, sit down, have a cup of tea, read a book, then get up and decide how to react before pressing the resume button.
I wonder how Jack Reacher VS Lucas Hood would go. Let's not forget that Lucas had put up a pretty good fight against Chayton, a man who is even bigger than Reacher.

Sure Wick probably wins but it's definitely not a "not even close" scenario To write Reacher off as being a meathead is pretty offensive to the character. Wick can take down bigger, stronger opponents for sure. But none of them showed they had ANY knowledge in hand-to-hand. Reacher is, at least, largely experienced in it Wick's only really winning because he can tank a ridiculous amount of punishment and because he can avoid most of Reacher's attacks, but Jack can casually snap bone with a punch so Wick's winning only like 55% of the time
I watched this twice. I've read every Reacher book. Reacher was a trained Army assassin and a West Point grad. He won the Wimbledon Cup. He was on the team that evaluated the replacement for the M1911. He commanded the 110th Special MP unit, a Major Case Investigation unit. He has taken out assassins, mob bosses, corrupt corporate executives, Special Forces and Green Berets, and more--these are the books, not the movies. He has been trained on almost every weapon known, just does not like knife fights, and yet is deadly with them. I am of the opinion that John Wick would not stand a chance in hell of taking Jack Reacher from the Lee Child's novels down. But then, I read, not just watch movies. Wick is toast.
Only thing John Wick has that's better than Reacher is plot armor. At least Reacher is set in a realistic universe and not some fantasy land where the protagonist casually gets up from being hit by cars or falling off buildings, taking hits on the way down that would certainly break bones in a normal person, then landing in a heap that would likely result in the death of any person in the Reacher universe. I don't like the comparison of these two characters, since it's such an apples to oranges thing.
Trick question, because 47 is already there, disguised as the janitor. When the exhausted Wick is standing over McCall's bullet-riddled body, he feels the fiber-wire go around his neck...
John Wick wins, 100%! John regularly goes up against AND defeats guys who are just as big and trained as Jack. Basically, if John Wick were dropped in Jack's world, he would thrive against any enemy. However, if Jack Reacher was dropped in John's world of trained global assassins, he would maybe barely survive or outright get dominated.
John smashed Zero's students through a section of thick bullet-resistant glass flooring, who themselves can break through bullet-resistant glass. Also John almost died from falling off that roof, and only the intervention of homeless king morpheus saved his life. He them spent months recovering. Film theory also covered all the math of the various falls he's taken as well. John was a successful hitman and marine, immensely skilled with firearms and melee combat. As a professional assassin, John is highly proficient in casing out, devising, and performing killings. He is also quite spatially conscious in battle situations, making use of the environment, weapons held by dead enemies, and even pencils. He is also shown to be fluent in several languages, including English, Russian, Italian, Hebrew, Indonesian, and American Sign Language. He seems to have some degree of medical knowledge, including human anatomy and physiology, as well as basic first aid. He's also snapped necks in single strikes before. To the home invader team in the first movie, he snapped a guy's neck that was laying on his table. And his stealth ability is no joke, able to completely disappear in a battle with other trained assassins.

If it was a fight to the death with no firearms,Jack Reacher is unbeatable,he's very big and strong with a very high tolerance towards pain,John Wick would be DOA very quickly
I am going to have to disagree with a lot of comments on here. Jack, if I remember correctly is not just a rifleman but a sniper and a very good one at that. Jack is more than good with a firearm. He is also not an aggression driven fighter. He is a very well thought out fighter. Skill I would give the slight advantage to John on fighting it only slightly. John’s skill is not going to counter jack’s strength at all. If jack gets his hands on John he is breaking arms and legs. Pistol marksmanship I give the slight advantage to John but again not enough to make a difference. Rifles I give to jack all day long. But again not enough to make a difference. Jack fighting John would be like a 14 year old 8th degree black belt fighting a 24 year old 4th degree black belt. They are both highly trained but the gap is not large enough to overcome Jack’s strengths. I would also argue that Jack has the sharper mind by far. Jack is very intelligent. Now I really like both characters but have to give this to Jack. I would put Mitch Rapp against any of them and he would destroy them both. One of the things that bothers me is when people start saying these guys are super human. They are not. If they got full on hit by a car they would both die the movies add some flair but these characters are still only human. If they get shot they bleed. If Jack broke John’s legs they would be broken and vice versa. As far as intelligence, fighting, skill and etc. it is no contest when you bring Mitch Rapp in.
Although I think Wick would win, saying he is more skilled is wrong... Reacher is more skilled and possibly smarter than Wick. He knew what style and training an opponent had from a type of headbutt or elbow attack he used.
Sam Fisher vs John Wick. For reference, Sam snuck into CIA HQ. Without setting off a single alarm. And is capable of 4 headshots without any fault to accuracy (upside down, mid vault/sprint) in any direction within seconds
In the 80’s only Sly & Jean would make action movies look realistic by actually taking a beating irregardles of the class of fighter they go up against. I appreciated these two because they showed they could take as much as they can give. Jon is the bridge to those times of old and the now. No one is as fierce today as Scott Adkins. No one shows more flair in the knowledge in martial arts and instills fear more than Donnie Yen in the movie world. Jon is the Goku of action movies in America today
It ain't close because John Wick has faced plenty of Jack Reacher type opponents wearing the same armor as himself and taking them down after taking a serious beating; now I can watch the video and see the results..
John has never faced a reacher type character 😂, reacher plans things out, he wouldn’t be like the assassins running around without a game plan, this is Batman vs Bane and we all know how that ended up when they first met.
I did ninjutsu for a few years and the idea is to avoid and evade combat, but when you do have to engage you strike as hard and as fast as you can and try to disable your opponent as efficiently as possible and then evade. When i fight nothing is off limits. Thats what reacher reminds me of (im no reacher 😅)
Something that should be taken into consideration is that Reacher is an excellent planner. He frequently sets traps and waits patiently for the right opportunity as shown in his fight at Hubbles house as well as in the Middle East flashback. While I do think John would win most of the time, I do think that if Reacher set the right trap and were able to get the jump on John, it would likely go to him. Something you also have to note is that John gets his ass kicked. A LOT. He usually survives by luck, or by his opponent just deciding to spare him as shown in the fight against the two assassins in the Hotel. Reacher would not have that mercy. If it were a standard gun fight, I would give it to Wick. But in a scenario that gives Reacher the time to come up with a plan or a trap, I give it to him.
You forgot that Reacher is very smart, he is primarily a detective. He allways has a plan not just relies on his fighting skills (altough sometimes his plan is just being a better fighter than his opponent), in contrast most of the time John just "goes in" and kills everybody
Skill aside. Wick is the embodiment of sheer will… something crazy I've learned about real life gunfights is that often people will die prematurely due to “no-will to live”. After being wounded, typically people will accept their fate and simply pass away, even with wounds that would have been 90% successful to heal. An example is of an officer that was shot and had no life-threatening wounds but somehow passed away on scene after telling his partner “Tell my wife I love her” and he was gone. Vs people that have been blasted in the head or riddled with bullets but will not accept death. Not a fear to die, but a WILL NOT TO DIE.
Wicks durability is actually even higher than mentioned because the first three movies, with all that damage he took, took place over like a single week.

reacher in books is ridicoulusly OP, wick is laughably protected by plot armor too, but reacher’s plot armor is whole new level
Both franchises know how to do authentic looking fight scenes (without shaky cam).
John wick fight scenes aren’t authentic at all🤣 they are fun to watch Forsure but he legit just flips over every other opponent he fights with the exact same takedown then proceeds to roll around a few times then limp away.

Interesting forum but I don't think John Wick would want to confront Jack Reacher simply due to his honor code. If anything, they would be more of an unstoppable duo and would work together.

John still kills him and walks away cinematically
Wrong!

To write Reacher off as being a meathead is pretty offensive to the character. Wick can take down bigger, stronger opponents for sure. But none of them showed they had ANY knowledge in hand-to-hand. Reacher is, at least, largely experienced in it
Wick's only really winning because he can tank a ridiculous amount of punishment and because he can avoid most of Reacher's attacks, but Jack can casually snap bone with a punch so Wick's winning only like 55% of the time

Prep time jack no prep time John. Jack is too smart you give him prep time and he'll figure some out
I watched this twice.

Honestly John feels closer to some kind of other worldly being rather than a human with a gun.
Not saying Reacher wins, but Reachers insanely intelligent. If you watch the series he never gets out smarted. I think it’s a little closer than the title of the vid. Great vid though

John Wick probably couldn't even win a duel with a blind man.
At the end of the day, it's going to boil down how much fight in these dogs, and never the size.
Headshot, Wick wins, period.
He will never get the chance.
Reacher takes John out from a thousand yards away, cause he's been there and set up three days before John arrives.

Jack reacher is more realistic… john is imaginary and purely entertainment value. Plot armor vs reality reality wins
Absolutely agree! John's absolutely overrated.
Leon the professional vs John Wick
John folds Jack
The pencil visually feels painful than a book
I love how in a majority of these videos, the claim is that it’s not even close, then they proceed to list reasons why it’s actually pretty close.
jack feel like a body builder but john is like a legit super human
