@@DeeEm1000 Dude has been in several different SF units and been deployed all over the world. So 1) It's dumb to assume the street fight happened in Korea. It could have been when he was operating anywhere in the world. Just because it's a street fight doesn't mean it wasn't during a mission. 2) Dude has 100% schwacked bad guys. He doesn't need to make up stories about poking a dude in the eye to sound tough.

I really appreciate your review and your service. I just wanted to chime in here because I caught a piece of a jacketed hollow point .357 in the stomach as a bystander in the 90's. It was a drive-by while walking home from work around 2am. The piece, about 4mm, bounced off a concrete wall and lodged in my abdomen. It was not life threatening, but it hurt like hell. Nobody was shot and killed that night. The shooter was also the driver and not very bright because he took his eyes off the road when he opened fire, jumped the curb, and hit a light pole at a Mister Donut shop 100 yards away. It goes without saying that the cops were already present at the scene, some with fresh coffee in their hands.

I can vouch for adrenaline. Was in a fist fight, got stabbed in the gut, it only registered to me as a hard punch. I held my side and kept hitting him with a my fists. Honestly (we were both 13), the knife didn't register. I'm hella fortunate that he didn't stab me again. Not sure why, but he ran away. I took my bike and was going to ride home. A friend pointed out a small tear in my favorite shirt. I pulled it up, there was an about 1/2 inch cut, with a little bit of bleeding. Luckily for me, a lifeguard noticed the wound was puckered, which meant it was a deep wound. By the time the Paramedics got there I was going into shock. I'd been stabbed in the stomach (the organ) and was bleeding internally.
So, I bearly felt it, it required exploratory surgery. So, John getting shot in the gut, even with a 22, is going to penitrate into vital organs. He could've finished up that fight, but would've been in a hospital for days.

10:50 The point about the actors having their back to the wall and then rotating out to shoot is interesting because I suspect that they intentionally do it that way for the film so that we can see their faces more easily. If they did what the proper action of facing the wall and leaning out slightly the audience would just see their backs which probably doesn't look as engaging.

A man like this plus his already lethal skills makes him more superhuman or something like 47. I'd say A+ in all scenes.

Regarding folding your pistol in, i find it curious he critiqued not extending his pistol all the way out just because he had space. Theres pros and cons. Holding a pistol at full length is almost equivalent to holding a short barrel rifle fully extended. While going down a hall, lets say hes passing different rooms, I was taught to collapse into a high ready with a rifle, same with a pistol, as it exposes you less to an open threshold giving any person inside a room less time to react to your presence. Not to mention that when you hold the pistol away from your body it gives you less leverage on it meaning someone can take it away or lower your gun easier compared to firing from the pocket or hip firing. So, given he's sneaking around in a scenario where people are jumping out at him around every corner, I don't think it's implausible.

He was really only talking about the spots where John 100% has a comfortable scenario to go long, but is still folding, just to kinda look tacticool. He never talks about breaching an open doorway and such. But I think that falls under the close quarters umbrella automatically in his mind, or an acceptable situation to fold up. At the end of the day, he said go long if and whenever possible, which is absolutely correct. Nobody trains walking through a standard doorway, fully extended.
