That does look really nice! Everything you need, nothing that you don’t. I do appreciate the exhibition case backs though. When I show them to potential watch enthusiasts that aren’t familiar with them, their eyes always light up.
A lil late to the party🤪 Though the American Cipper🇺🇸 Collection, specifically the Macy's exclusive, started out as a four(4) watch collection, that was very very short lived as I believe that only two of the four examples pictured were ever released commercially, that being the SS/blue dial model, Ref. 96A242, along with the gold plated/ black dial model, Ref. 97A151. The "American Clipper" has been a long standing Bulova flagship collection, with many many models, both quartz along with automatic pieces, with a few staples, such as the silver dial 40mm quartz example, Ref. 96B312, with a date window at 6:00, to both a 42mm silver dial(Ref. 96C130) along with a black dial automatic Day/Date model(96C131), though these are the models most often seen for sale on the internet. There is a beautiful American Clipper 32mm Lady's quartz with MOP dial/date at 6:00 with blue applied roman numeral numbers along with a silver silver applied Bulova logo at 12:00. It's gorgeous👌🏼 There have been other "American Clipper" releases though these are the models available if ya go on-line and shop "Bulova American Clipper." The Macy's two-piece collection is a great, and my opinion, the best rendition of the vintage Clippers from yesteryear. The other American Clipper models share no DNA🧬 from the original Clipper, cept for the name. While they're attractive watches, they look like every other modern watch, almost sterile, compared to the personality that was present in many of the early/mid 20th century watches, such as the American Clipper. Nice review🤙 Continued Success🍻 RP Later Edit: apologies if there was print relating to clean car, yada yada yada as I must have accidentally hit the speaker when talkin with my wife. I'm a dinosaur🦖 and IT idiot, lol. Stay Well👊 RP
Your reviews are truly informative and I appreciated this and added to cart just a few moments ago. You cover details I do not see a lot of reviewers cover. Thank you.
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy it! I try to be as honest as I could with this model watch. I think the only thing I would change is, I would prefer a solid case back. And possibly a plastic crystal primarily because they cost so little to replace if they are broken. I hope you enjoy yours in good health!
@@markcoffman494 The metal movement ring and why it matters was fascinating. But I agree on all points. I prefer acrylic or sapphire. Timex really got it right with the Marlin reissue on the acrylic. AS far as the caseback, also agreed. But I think my Glycine and Orient Mako are the only two autos I have that do NOT have a display caseback. For the price I paid and the pluses this has visually and in other bits, it is one to add to the collection and I love the vintage aesthetic. Again. Great job. Detailed review and (no disrespect to others) I did not need a timegrapher and caliper show and still got some fun details to geek out on.
@@patricklgreen so happy you enjoyed! Go and check out my channel. I’ve got a ton of other things posted in it. Not sure if you like pocket knives are pens, but I’ve covered those items also on my channel, check it out!
Thank you so much for this review. I found this one for $119 yesterday and your explanation of the quality on offer for the money really sold me on this one.
Just got a blue one and absolutely love it plus I got a deal and only paid $136. For mine. One thing that did surprise me was just how thin it is, watching a video kinda looks fairly thick but in person it’s nice and thin. Great video
Good video mark!!!!! I was looking on island watch…….. and I was checking out a pretty cool orient dive watch for 165.00 looked like it was worth it!!!!! Thanks
Great review! I have the blue dial as well as the Black and Gold. $150 is an excellent buy for these; I paid around $200-225 for mine from Macys when they were released in late 2019, and was happy with that price. Most folks seem to agree that at the MSRP of $400ish, they are not quite worth it. Fwiw, I have the lower level movement in mine...I like your rotor and overall finish much better! I wanted the gold case/silver dial, but those two silver dial models apparently were made only for the European market. You can find them online, but the prices are a bit higher. I contacted Bulova about the lume and they told me these new versions use a CP 50 luminous fill. Just a note: I owned the original 33mm version and it had a 1957 SN; I've also seen Vintage Bulovas with the same exact dial and 33mm cases but different lugs going back a few years earlier, to the early mid 50s.
Where did you find the Black/Gold? I've been looking for these everywhere and there are nothing but Blue/Silver versions. Those are everywhere at steep discounts. The Black/Gold is apparently non-existent.
Ive seen this piece in person, it is very nice for the price. Bulova is in dire need of a reboot. They either utilize miyotas or sellitas at best. Should invest upon developing in house movements (same goes for the rest of citizen). They’d be taken far more, if not just as, seriously as their competitors.

Well done sir, I appreciate your time and effort in producing a well thought out and thorough presentation. Now to purchase one for my grandson.
I am so glad you enjoyed it! Hope he enjoys it when he receives it!

@@djinconroe I definitely see a lot more of the blue dialed ones around but the black&gold pop up on eBay now and again.
Excellent review 👍 I just purchased a new display model (blue dial) on ebay for $100! It's beautiful. Like your watch, my watch hacks.
Seems to be a good watch. Wonder if Bulova will bring back the Minute man with auto wind.
Who knows! But that would be a cool watch to bring back into production!
Does this have a ghost date crown position? Some are saying it does.
Timex Marlin, Orient Bambino...

Citizen's (and Bulova's for that matter) movements ARE in house. Miyota is what Citizen calls their movement division..
Dang bro what happened to your thumb
Was a blister
