One of your best episodes ever. Next time I visit my grandmother I will be on the lookout for Daniel in his scooter with his oxygen tank filled with whiskey. Cheers fellas
I totally understand what they say about Walker. I still love it so much. It’s an old friend. It’s coming home. So many memories tied to JW. My favorite being the 18 (it’s called platinum when this video was made) even as my whisk(e)y experiences expand along with my pallet. I still have that place in my heart for JW.
After watching both your reviews and Bourbon Junkies review of WhistlePig, I jumped on the 12 year rye for this Christmas. Dear God, I very much do not regret it.
Let's take a moment and mention that these two amazing and greatest of all magnificent Bastards, ever exist!!! Woke up and made a video for us before 8am!!! Proving us that if you do what you love is never a bother!!! Thanks you my boys!!!
Don't be so quick to dismiss the oxygen - next time Rex makes a supply run and wheezes to a halt, you can cruise up an offer him a hit. Something about the thought of Rex shuffling along in his knee-high support hose, dad sneakers and cargo shorts that just begs for Daniel to arrive on his Hoveround and save the day!
Yes, Winston S. Churchill disliked vermouth intensely. He said many things about and against vermouth. He once wrote “Glance at the vermouth bottle briefly while pouring the juniper distillate freely,”
Talisker isn't the only distillery on Skye anymore, Torabhaig opened up last year, though it'll be 2 more years until they have anything aged long enough to be sold as whisky.
Black Bottle has always been a blend (not a vatting of single malts) I believe. It included all Islay distilleries (at the time) but included grain as well. The standard “old” bottle was much better than the ten. I have had all three and still have a couple of the old standard bottles.
Rex is like that awesome uncle that you've always kind of aspired to be like; Daniel is like that co worker that you kind of want to go out drinking with, but you're hesitant to do it because you think he might know more than you, and it doesn't seem like he's figured that out yet. Cheers, Blanton's, Hibiki, Tagouchi, & Dalmore
Sitting in my gliding chair out on my balcony at midnight, drinking Bruichladdich (except for the first 'I', I almost spelled that right without looking! 😁) Port Charlotte Heavily Peated and smoking a cigar and enjoying the hell out of this video
I started off with Dewers and Johnnie Walker anf I'll always enjoy the occasional sip from them but after having other Scotch especially Islay I must say I have to put Dewers and JW lower on the list
I think the comparison to pop music and JW is a good one. It's a very well-executed whiskey that's designed for broad appeal. Justin Timberlake makes great music, but it's designed to have broad and shallow appeal. Very different from small craft brands who design their whiskies to have narrow but deep appeal. If you make Johnnie Walker Black, a million people will buy a bottle a piece. If you make Longmorn 16, only Daniel will buy it, but he'll buy it a fuckin' palette at a time.
Daniel, I believe your statement that "smooth relates to high quality" may be true but for a different reason than you are meaning. Back a while ago, drinking whiskey was risk. Most were low quality, harsh in flavor and difficult to drink. Few even touted a label with what it was made from. So yes, there was a time where a high quality whiskey was thought of as "smooth" since it didn't try to kill you on the way down. Our perspective today is much different than even just a few decades ago. And I do enjoy a smooth whiskey as opposed to one made in a bathtub. :)
Having Vermont on the bottle adds 10 bucks to the price tag no questions asked. We sell polished Vermont maple stumps to flatlanders for hundred of dollars and laugh all the way to the bank.
I was alwayss wondering what you do after tasting sessions when you have so much whiskey :D I understand you just take little from each but altogether xD. And also would like to thank you, you have amazing show, You guys are great!!!
That's why I love monkey shoulder for its value-to-rating, it'll punch your tongue but the ending of long oak is WORTH IT, in my opinion, but I'm a noob.
Hey guys! I’ve been watching you guys with my brother for about 6 months! My whiskey collection has grown from 1 to 12 bottles! I’ve got everything from Joseph Magnus to Longmorn 16! But I’m still a little scared of the Islay whiskey what is your go to intro into islay? Gonna keep watching and we are so excited for all the shit y’all are gonna do with crowded barrel and everything!!!!
Ive been lurking round here for almost a month and decided that now is the time to speak up. 1st, thank you for the education. Ive learned so much and you have really opened my eyes to the world of whisky! 2nd, every year i go on a winter backpacking trip with a group of guys and they always bring a bottle of - and sing the praises of - canadian mist. Please explain. 3rd, if you two created another channel doing movie reviews .. you may just break the #^@&ing internet. 4th, i cant freeking wait to see Daniel ridin dirty on a Personal Mobility Device with a baby oak cask in the complimentary oxygen tank holder and a lil orange flag flying in the wind. Cheers to awesomely entertaining videos gents.
Thanks Jason! On the whisky front, I think there is a special place in everyone's heart for a food or beverage that ties them to wonderful memories and history. No need to apologize for something like that, and there's really no explaining it. It's in the same category as guilty pleasure junk food. Glad you're here. Rock and roll.
Let me start that I'm a huge fan and follower. I recently started sipping Scotch. It started with a bottle of 12yr Chivas Regal. I love it. I recently tried a bottle of Shieldaig 18yr single malt. I was not nearly as impressed. First off was Chivas a good stepping stone? Second why do I feel wrong for preferring a 12-year blend over a single malt 18 year?
Daniel should do a segment where he sits in front of a fireplace in a big leather armchair telling long-winded whiskey stories and drinking an associated beverage
I love WhistlePig but I am part of a snobby group that absolutely hate it because in the past they "Lied" about sourcing and the such. I have only been into them for about a year. So all I see is the super honest version today. Are you aware of the controversy and was it even a big deal back then?
I have a bottle of 12 yo Bowmore( my go to) and the 15yo. I like the 15 but can't justify the extra 40$ over the 12. It's 60$ for the 12 and 96$ for the 15 here in Quebec.
May be it's only me but, Rex Looks a lot like "Now" Krist Novoselic (Bassist of NIRVANA) and Daniel looks like David Draiman (Vocalist of DISTURBED) with a beard.
Ralfy says they aren’t even close in taste. The new version is much more tamed down because management felt the old version was “too Islay” for some reason.
I feel like there may be 3 versions out there. The true original which is more smoky, the second round which is the 10yr but not as smoky and the current pretty one. I've heard multiple people I trust talk about the big difference between new and old, and that bottle we tried was definitely not that.
Smooth is descriptive of the texture of a beverage, not the flavor. (As opposed to rough.) Saying smooth means nothing is like saying sweet means nothing.
If I ever have a bad day, I'll watch at 23:45. You know you make great content when you can make your audience laugh out loud with you.
One of your best episodes ever. Next time I visit my grandmother I will be on the lookout for Daniel in his scooter with his oxygen tank filled with whiskey. Cheers fellas
I can see a Top Gear Challenge episode happening soon.
Gentlemen lock up your Grandmas.
Old is old - just face it Daniel
Breakfast is the most important drink of the day
I totally understand what they say about Walker. I still love it so much. It’s an old friend. It’s coming home. So many memories tied to JW. My favorite being the 18 (it’s called platinum when this video was made) even as my whisk(e)y experiences expand along with my pallet. I still have that place in my heart for JW.
Im laughing crying about Daniel's scooter, havent laughed this hard in a while. Thank you guys xD
OMG! Tears are running down my face as I write this. We must have the same funny bone. Indeed, thanks guys.
yes nothing like snorting with Ardbeg 10 in your mouth to make the tears flow even more!

So Daniel, if you push the button on the SOM chain does it call EMS when you've fallen off your scooter and can get it up?
Daniel’s scooter story had me dying! 😂
Yes, Winston S. Churchill disliked vermouth intensely. He said many things about and against vermouth. He once wrote “Glance at the vermouth bottle briefly while pouring the juniper distillate freely,”
I lost it with Daniels face on the personal mobility scooter!
Love that Platinum Label. Got it for Christmas last year by my boss. Was amazing.
Talisker isn't the only distillery on Skye anymore, Torabhaig opened up last year, though it'll be 2 more years until they have anything aged long enough to be sold as whisky.

Awesome. Just awesome. I laughed so hard that I almost choked with the cigar smoke. You guys are the best
Gentleman control yourself, this is a professional review of some of the finest whisk[e]y available. . Cheers.
Rex is like that awesome uncle that you've always kind of aspired to be like; Daniel is like that co worker that you kind of want to go out drinking with, but you're hesitant to do it because you think he might know more than you, and it doesn't seem like he's figured that out yet.

Blanton's, Hibiki, Tagouchi, & Dalmore
*Watches the intro*
Yep, this is gonna be a good one
At 14:18 I’m laughing so hard when Daniel fights the use of the word “smooth” 🤣
Sitting in my gliding chair out on my balcony at midnight, drinking Bruichladdich (except for the first 'I', I almost spelled that right without looking! 😁) Port Charlotte Heavily Peated and smoking a cigar and enjoying the hell out of this video
This is definitely the funniest episode of all time. Those scooter clips killed me.
MORE 7AM RECORDINGS!
I love that Whistle Pig. Great by itself and great in a Manhattan.
I started off with Dewers and Johnnie Walker anf I'll always enjoy the occasional sip from them but after having other Scotch especially Islay I must say I have to put Dewers and JW lower on the list
Best. Vault. Episode. Ever.
This might be my fav video from you both, you guys are so fun to watch!
Ah, the Friday episode of the Whiskey vault always falls perfectly in time with my end of the week drink..cheers!
I'M FAMOUS!
I laughed so hard I woke up my wife three rooms away.
I started this 3 whiskeys in and laughed until i cried 😂
Oh ya, one of the best yet. Right up there with a top 10 show for sure

The oxygen bottle thing got me. 😂😂😂😂😂
Jaysus this was one of the best episodes! Daniel i better see that orange flag at the opening
This is the hardest I've laughed at an episode! That scooter story is awesome!
Just started watching. Great channel really got me interested in whiskey again. Almost died laughing about the scooter.
Wait for the second Black Bottle, then just buckle up...that was a belly punch! Haven't laughed that hard in a while guys...thanks!
Really enjoy you're videos. It sounds like nails on a chalkboard though when you refer to Glenrothes! It should be Glen raw-thes.
Love the scooter ad. Lmao 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
When you redo the JW Platinum you need to compare it to the old Gold 18.
And also would like to thank you, you have amazing show,

thanks Pavel 👍
the morning sun really adds to the experience and quality. let make this a regular thing.
That's why I love monkey shoulder for its value-to-rating, it'll punch your tongue but the ending of long oak is WORTH IT, in my opinion, but I'm a noob.
Oh my god I almost passed out on the toilet laughing lmao
WOW Johnny Walker the pop music of whisky. I LOVE IT!
I love the donation day! keep up the good work guys :)
Rex laughing uncontrollably...
Priceless....
Daniel, can you just get an eye patch and a parrot already for when you do the "magnificent bastard"?
Hey guys! I’ve been watching you guys with my brother for about 6 months! My whiskey collection has grown from 1 to 12 bottles! I’ve got everything from Joseph Magnus to Longmorn 16! Try out Bunnahabhain 12 and follow it with Bruichladdich "Classic Laddie"
Scooter scene is epic
wow i laughed pretty hard with you guys there. looking forward to next week's donation day!
Daniel, I just purchased the Deanston 10 PX Cask Finish that I’m going to have with you when you do that review.
Your laughter is contagious thanks laughted so hard I farted.
Great Episode. Would love to see Glenfiddich Age of Discovery comparison. Cheers from New Zealand
PLEASE show Daniel on his "scooter" when he gets it (along with the oxygen bottle attachment, please!)
Daniel you forgot to add your complimentary whisk(e)y basket attachment to your scooter!
I’m glad someone finally got Daniel a flag. It’s so hard to find him sometimes.

Glad you're here. Rock and roll.
Whiskey Vault Well said! Sometimes, like beer, perhaps the best whiskey is free whiskey? ;)
Love the Bowmore 12.
Having bowmore 12 right now.... Beauty!
Mixed it with jameson caskmates .... Not bad!
I was laughing so hard my coworker looked at me like I was insane.
Let me start that I'm a huge fan and follower. I recently started sipping Scotch. It started with a bottle of 12yr Chivas Regal. I love it. I recently tried a bottle of Shieldaig 18yr single malt. I agree. Don’t worry. Age does not equal quality
"Finest Scotch whisky with a heart of Islay. And a liver of Speyside."
lol! Cheeky MB!
Daniel should do a segment where he sits in front of a fireplace in a big leather armchair telling long-winded whiskey stories and drinking an associated beverage
Another great video! Glenfinnich 21 rum cask
Could you review AKASHI white oak whisky please?
This is one of those episodes where drunk Rex and Daniel really come to life at 0.5x speed.
Rex is rocking that Jeff Daniels - Harry Dunn laugh
Rex, how about next Friday you wear the Where's Waldo shirt, if you can still fit in it..
Great episode! Funniest in a while lads!
I love WhistlePig but I am part of a snobby group that absolutely hate it because in the past they "Lied" about sourcing and the such. I have only been into them for about a year. So all I see is the super honest version today. Are you aware of the controversy and was it even a big deal back then?
Haven't laughed this much in a looong time.
🤣🤣🤣
Needed that laugh at the end today! Thank you guys
Bowmore underrated? I would say exactly the opposite. It's the Dalmore of Islay.
Absolutely, Bowmore to me is the most forgettable whisky in all of Islay.
besides its the cheapest of all of them 😉
Damned with faint praise - well done, Mr. Leg!
Not surprising, Torabhaig, slide in under your radar. They've been open on Skye since Jan 2017... so Talisker is no longer alone on Skye.
Nice MB-announcement Daniel!
Best laugh ive had forever, thankyou.
My understanding is that a new distillery just began construction on Skye.
That JW Platinum 18 is about the only scotch I have been unable to come to appreciate.
Hey Daniel and Rex, out of the two which do y’all prefer based on taste, value and availability?
Glendronach or macallan
I'd love to see you as some colouring to one of your bottles but l blue or green or something silly
Guys won't the whiskies in the background go bad when exposed to sunlight ??
We have heavy curtains in the windows that we close when we're not shooting videos
I have a bottle of 12 yo Bowmore( my go to) and the 15yo. I like the 15 but can't justify the extra 40$ over the 12. It's 60$ for the 12 and 96$ for the 15 here in Quebec.
I like you guys but I'm never sending you whisky. I'm keeping it for myself.
According to my research Black bottle was always a blend with grain whisky. Are you 100% sure it was only the 7 Islays at some point?
May be it's only me but,
Rex Looks a lot like "Now" Krist Novoselic (Bassist of NIRVANA)
and Daniel looks like David Draiman (Vocalist of DISTURBED) with a beard.
You're doin' pretty well with the bastard callouts Daniel.
Is that a Highland Park 30 Red Box in the background??? 🧐🤔 Where’s the review for THAT? 😩
Great episode... Absolutely great! Thanks, guys.
Cheers!
Daniel, we need a link to your mobility scooter. Please!!!
I had "heard" there was a VERY large difference between the two Black Bottles. Interesting.
Jimmy Leg. Same here. Was surprised to hear Daniel say they were pretty close.
Ralfy says they aren’t even close in taste. The new version is much more tamed down because management felt the old version was “too Islay” for some reason.

Thanks for commenting Daniel. Appreciate it. No ball busting.
Rex's Magnificent Bastard is reminiscent of the deep growls of a bear or a lion, while Daniel's is more Jack Russell Terrier
You guys should do the jp wisers 18.
Im new to scotch. Is the peat your referring to the funk taste? For example, I get a strong funk from Macallen 12.
@13:35 daniel is referring to Adele.
Smooth is descriptive of the texture of a beverage, not the flavor. (As opposed to rough.) Saying smooth means nothing is like saying sweet means nothing.
WOW!!!
Maybe I'm just a novice but I prefer my whiskey to go down smooth like some ice water
