Cordless Table Saw - DEWALT vs. Milwaukee

We recently tested portable jobsite table saws in our Head-T0-Head to determine the Best Portable Jobsite Table Saw, however we excluded the cordless saws. In this head-to-head we’re pitting the two current cordless table saws against each other.
The DEWALT 60V FlexVolt DCS7485T1 8-1/4″ against the Milwaukee M18 2736-21HD 8-1/4″. While these two saws look pretty similar they certainly are powered using very different voltages with the DEWALT using a 60V MAX (54 volt) battery pack and motor and the Milwaukee using an 18 volt pack and motor. While they use different voltages, they were both tested with the same total battery pack energy of 216 watt-hours.
Table Saw Evaluation Format
Just like our previous corded table saw head to head we’re testing the cordless table saws in the same format. For this evaluation, we broke things into several categories including: Precision & Accuracy, Performance (power), Price, and Ergonomics.
Precision & Accuracy - In this category we evaluated the accuracy of the table saws straight out of the box, and how easy it is to make calibration adjustments. We also discuss the quality of the fence system as it relates to ripping accurate cuts.
Performance - The performance evaluation took a very deep dive into the power of the saw motors and how well the saws managed different ripping materials including plywood, pressure treated Southern Yellow Pine 5/4 decking and IPE 3/4 decking. We measured saw RPM’s and Amps for each of the cutting materials under constant feed rates.
Price - Price is always an important factor in determining which saw is best for a user. We’ve included the current pricing found online for each of the saws at the time of publication.
Ergonomics - Ergonomics are really important to users and an important category to consider when purchasing any power tool. In addition to traditional ergonomics, we also included functionality in this category.

Very interesting review. I went with DeWalt 60 volt about a year ago and just love the tools. But dang it was a hard choice. I'm happy that Milwaukee is still pushing the limits and making their line tempting.

I came to your channel to re-check head to head table saw comparison before I make a purchase, And WOW.
I found cordlesses. I'm not sure those will be released and comes with same spec in my country, since there is only 18v battery being sold from DeWalt. There is no 20v battery here in Korea(south).
But Anyway, good to know more options. My primary concerns are Accuracy, safety, and noise. since safety would not be differ so much, accuracy and noise is my major concerns for this comparison. But I could not find noise factor not like your past comparison video. That was unlucky for me.
Would love to see a new comparison test including the Metabo HPT 36V tablesaw! Recently replaced the old DW745 corded saw with the Metabo cordless saw and have to say I am completely blown away by the performance of this saw with the shop saw capacity (35" rip and 3 1/4" cut depth), power of a corded saw, (ripping thick hardwoods, no problem), and the available AC adapter cord is a great bonus feature! Not sure why none of the other manufacturers make an adapter available!
Crew truck is now completely cordless...life is good!
Wonderful review. I was amazed at the detail and how in-depth you went on all the precision stuff. Most of my tools are primarily Dewalt and Milwaukee. I probably would have went with Dewalt but then when I saw your review I realize that the ease of cutting and the simplicity part plays a big factor in how much you enjoy the work you do. Most of my batteries and chargers are Milwaukee so that would be my choice……!! Thank you very much

Once again Rob. You have made an heck of a good review with trust worthy facts and in-depth examination of those 2 cordless table saws. After your first review, which I have seen over and over 🤓 I got my Milwaukee table saw, last week (guess I was among the first here in Denmark to get it) and what a great little handy powerhouse. Guys at the Job-site stood in line to tried it and to compare it with their one or two year older corded Dewalt table saw, and boy they were impressed, and so I am.
The only little thing, is that the extruded aluminum profile, the fence, should have been a little thicker in the material. It feels a bit flimsy. But besides that, it’s a keeper 👍🏼

Ive had a dewalt for awhile and just recently got the milwaukee they are about the same except i have milwaukee tools already so i have more batteries for it both are just awesome
If performance is very similair, I'll take red for the better features. My boss has the dewalt and its so annoying to move saw and stand around jobsites separately. Also of the 3 dewalt tablesaws I've used substantially, all 3 of em the rack and pinion gets sloppy very quickly and jumps teeth with a lil accidental nudge. Haven't used red yet to tell if it has same defect.

I do not think it would really matter, did you also calculate the working speed?
may be dewalt realize that two batteries are needed because in the UK it sells the kit table saw with 2 batteriens of 2 amps and fast charger with a price of up to 700 pounds , I was lucky , I have to paid 580 pounds on the kit .

Looks to me like Milwaukee simply copied the DeWALT saw. I’d like to see DeWALT increase the blade size to 10”, utilize two FlexVolt battery packs & include 120v adaptor 👍🏻

Thanks for the reviews. I'm strongly considering both saws for job site work. Our shop saw is a Laguna Fusion 3 so no extra need there, but out on jobs nobody in their right minds would drag a 800 pound saw along. I'm not so worried about run time as I'm seldom going to be cutting lumber all day outside of the shop, but accuracy and user fatigue are also important.. I REALLY don't care about the color nor name recognition, only results and how my old body responds.

Great comparison! I own the Dewalt saw but mine does not have the same riving knife lock. I don't have to remove the plate to get get to the lock, it's positioned at the same location as the Milwaukee so I can reach in from behind the saw and unscrew it and pull my knife off. I also want to add my view on the battery platform dilemma. Sure, you need flexvolt batteries to run the Dewalt but can use them on several 20v max tools despite the extra weight. The Milwaukee basically need the 12.0ah battery to perform like it's designed to do (from what I've heard) so if you think about it you kind of need those big batteries for that saw. Think about that folks and compare the situation with Dewalt. I'm not saying either one of them are a winner in that category, more that they are not that different from each other.
You need the flex volt to run the Dewalt as well. Difference being I can slap the M18 12ah on any of my Milwaukee tools. It’ll run my impacts, multitools, miter, nail guns, router, sawzall, jigsaw, sander, etc. Every piece is interchangeable. And for once…it’s cheaper with all those features than Dewalt. I was always big on Dewalt until I was continuously getting screwed by trash batteries that would go bad just out of warranty range, and brittle hand grips. That’s why I went red. An employee Dropping a whole tool bin off a 3 story roof and every tool still kicking is why I will remain red. I’ve never had to do a warranty exchange to date…knock on wood
The difference in results would hardly matter unless your building cabinets on your front lawn. For me; is one saw so much better than the other that it is worth investing in a different battery system - which is the bulk of the cost in my eyes. The answer is a resounding no. Good honest review. Perspective people. Perspective. Deep breaths.

DeWalt makes a 15 Amp, 180 Watt power bank that runs off (4) 20/60 Volt batteries. I run my 10” DeWalt table saw off that without a problem. The power bank doubles as a quad battery charger. I have an accessory fence built onto my saw which holds a 2 1/4 HP router cradle and functions as a router table; the power bank runs thus as well, though not at the same time. I’ve never bogged the power bank down and have used it to cut dados as well as ripping. (4) 5 Amp Hour batteries will run the saw continuously for about 15-20 minutes, depending on temperature. Just an option if you want a full size saw to run off batteries. These power banks are great as I have plenty of batteries to run these and they make near zero noise; working with these beats working with a generator, especially indoors without power.

I feel like each saw you buy will vary in out of box accuracy and top flatness, every Dewalt will have varying readings as will every Milwaukee saw.

A major point that you omitted was the warranty of the tools.
DeWalt has a 3 year warranty, the Milwaukee a 5 year warranty. That's huge for a tool.
You are correct in that DeWalt doesn't offer the saw as a kit. What you omitted was the cost of a battery charger for the DeWalt saw. The chargers I find listed run $85 on top of the price of saw, stand and battery bringing the Dewalt total cost to $747.99.
With the Milwaukee, I'm unable to locate any of the 18v 12 amp hour batteries. The saw is listed @$549 and the stand for another $79. for a total of $628.
Gunga Dinn well y'all are leaving some information out. The Dewalt is available as a kit, DCS7485T1, but it only comes with the 6Ah battery and charger, for $499. The stand is $74.99. I don't think they offer a 12Ah table saw kit yet. They never did offer it in 9Ah, those were for the outdoor power equipment.

Pricing is always tough for us as it's a moving target. We try to find the best pricing at the time we write the article. This morning I looked both up again and I get $628 for Milwaukee ($549 plus $79). For DEWALT you can get the bare saw for $340, stand $75, battery $249, and $46 for charger for a total of $710.
The warranty is why Milwaukee charges an arm and a leg for their tool line.... Your paying for the duds that get replaced (to other people) up front.... it's simple marketing. ... That's all
With inverter tech being included inside almost every high end cordless tool. Battery voltage is almost irrelevant. Measure voltage at the motor. Is it 3 phase ac? 60v will help to keep the battaery cool while delivering the same wattage. M18hc batteries do it about the same. Very nice job on the blade part. This video would be the best if I was going to get a battery table saw. Thank you for this.
No mention of tool and battery warranty or durability over time, both very important. I already have both M18 and FlexVolt tools, so which is better now?

What stand are you using for the dewalt? I have the Dewalt and cannot find one. I've been using on the ground or finding/making something on-site. The only one I've found says it was discontinued.

Great review Rob! And interesting comments by others as well. I'm a bit surprised by the price difference since the Dewalt has been out longer, one would have thought they would drop the price to compete. On the other hand maybe Milwaukee is paying a bit of a penalty for being late to market and trying to gobble up some market share with the lower price point.
Most likely this is due to how they are kitted. The DEWALT kit has been out with a smaller pack for quite some time. We shall see if they update the kit with a 12 ah pack and keep the lower price.

I love my dewalt saw but my saw was way out of wack in many ways. No big deal, i calibrated it my self. Now its pretty good.

Quite a thorough review. It would be interesting to learn the variability between units from the same manufacturer. There's always a chance another pairing would yield the opposite results ... QC departments know that confidence levels depend on sample size.

Especially when you look closely at how close these two units were in the measurements. There was NO big differences in anything we measured.
I'm disappointed Makita hasn't released a cordless table saw yet. I'm looking for a reason to invest in the Makita 18v line because I love the X2 system. If they release a competitive saw in X2, I'll buy it! Always look forward to your excellent, data-driven reviews!

I got the dewalt one a few weeks ago. I admit I was a bit sceptical about the run-time and performance, but the saw performs just as well as a corded one - Amazing!
I use it with my two flexvolt 9 Ah batteries, which is good enough for most of the days. I learned fast that starting the day with two fully charged batteries was very crucial, when the saw was needed.
Overall very happy with it, strongly recommend it.

I needed a cordless table saw and narrowed it down to these two. I ended up going with the Milwaukee. My first job for it was a 24X16 pergola and it needed slats cut out of 2X8's. In all I had to cut approximately 700-800 linear feet of 2x8 pressure treated. I did all of this on less than 2-1/2 charges so I don't understand where the difference is on the way I cut vs this video. Maybe because I never left it on in between cuts, not sure. I cannot speak for the DeWalt but this Milwaukee is phenomenal. It outperforms my 15 amp corded by a mile. Just getting silly with it I tried to see how fast I could feed the 12' 2X8. I realized that it would cut it as fast as I could feed it. From my experience the table saw will actually be pulled over onto the ground before it would bog down much less stop the blade. Loads of power, absolutely no complaints. This saw cuts very well. The features are very nice as well

I use DeWalt but have nothing against Milwaukee in really suprised at Milwaukee,s lack of accuracy here. The blade being a degree out of whack is not acceptable, I would have thought that both of these top brands would be bang on tbh. Thanks for the video 👍🙂
Terrific review. I'm an electrician so for now I am set with my corded Dewalt table saw. However, all of my cordless tools are Milwaukee so when the time comes I will be going with the M18 platform for cordless table saws.
Hi Rob, I love all your videos! I always see your reviews before I jump on a new tool. I’m a Milwaukee guy. I’m probably buying one on Wednesday. Will it cut well with a 9 .0 or 5.0 battery? I’m debating on just going for bare tool to save a few $.

My only problem with my Flexvolt table saw is that it only has one miter slot and that table itself is a bit too narrow for my kind of work other than these things it's really good!

Its amazing how much buying into the m18 line changed my work life. Started out as a humble apprentice asking what my lead would recommend for an impact driver. He said, 'Always Milwaukee, always' So I bought it and now have a cordless impact, drill, multi tool, fan, radio, might look into their cordless 18g nailer as well. All from that one recommendation a few years back. I can honestly say that the m18 line hasn't let me down. I love that they just keep expanding it with new tools. Excited to see their cordless framing nailer finally hit the market (after numerous delays)
Where you able to make adjustments to the Milwaukee to fix the 89 degrees and 46 degree settings instead of being 90 and 45 degrees?

I think that’s a good saw, because you can plug it into the mains as well.
Boy I need a table saw. I have one thats old, out of whack and dangerous. No riving knife or shroud and bent fence. But that's ok. Thank God I have it. I just have to be extra careful. I was hoping DeWalt would release a table saw like their miter saw, corded AND cordless. I have many DeWalt tools, and NO Milwaukee. I won't buy them due to their cult following and over price. Kind of like Apple owners lol Thank you Rob for yet another great review that i can trust.
Dewalt told us that annoying an AC/DC component would add significant weight to the saw and at least $100 more in cost - I'd pay it!!!

With addition of dado blade ability Milwaukee is the winner to this guy .
Yeah dewalt is suppose to come out with a newer cordless saw that addresses the blade slowing down as the battery depletes I'd wait till the newer dewalt cordless table saw comes out those 8inch blades are a hindrance put a 7 1/4 on there lol or have a multi spectral platform that isn't necessarily so restricted on the fact that it's a tiny box with a blade I mean that they could come out a much larger platform that makes these look like there for trim only
I've never trusted the accuracy of the fence or a blade so I check both often.
I might’ve missed it but the Milwaukee has better dust collection correct? And if I’m not mistaken the Dewalt only has one miter slot compared to the Milwaukee that has two which might be a big deal for some people. Good review nonetheless as usual Rob

I thought it might nice to have cordless table saw but just got flier and Milwaukee saw was priced 1150$ (1050€) in my country i think it would be even cheaper to order it from states and pay toll fees and shipment.

As expected, it looks like Dewalt set the bar and milwaukee have met it with a few extra tweaks 2 years later. I will be very interested to see the next revision from Dewalt and to see who else steps into the arena with them.
Dewalt will make adjustments to this saw and you won't even know because never say anything
@@loucifer323 more like they’re gonna raise the price and keep feature missing without saying anything. For example their dws779 miter saw. Type 22 is missing more features than their type 20 production.
Sounds like Milwaukee is better simply because of the smoother motor technology that leads to better glue line cuts. I have a Dewalt 10" corded model, no matter the blade there still are saw blade marks left in the cut. Shop saw does not have that problem.
