- In my sewing room this week I had a wonderful time recreating the Lost Disney Cars Fleece jacket which I am very excited to show you! I have also made 2 pairs of Spring Trousers both New Look patterns. I hope you enjoy this weeks Friday Sews.

Oh my gosh, that jacket for your grandson is adorable. So cool. He will love it. So smart starting with a ready made jacket. Great job! I think your jeans came out really nice. I like that medium color. Love all the pictures at the end. It is so fun to see places I've never been. Last time I went to visit my grandson I brought several pairs of pajama pants that I'd made for him. He calls them grandma bedtime pants. Kids are so funny.
Grandma bedtime pants sounds so funny to me! Oh I love the things that children say and come out with. I gave the jacket to my Grandson today and he was thrilled. You did NOT cheat Carole! You UPCYCLED!!! GREAT JOB! Dead right, spot on!! It looks identical. He will LOVE IT!!! So exciting. I always use embroidered patches on challenging fabrics. AMAZING!!! I'm so thrilled to hear about his reaction. Your jeans are cute! Linen trousers fit great too. I do the same thing and look at the photos and not the words so much. I think you won't have a problem with the French pattern at all. BEAUTIFUL hoodie WOW! I love that striped fabric. 🥰💖
Of course, I upcycled! Why didn't I think of just saying that? He really was pleased with it but now the older Grandson wants me to do something similar for him 😂. I am glad to hear that you don't risk embroidering straight onto precious things, again I felt like I was cheating. I am going to try those trousers shortly as we are so far from wearing shorts over here yet or even crops. Your support means so much to me, thank you 🧵😊💗

He loved it Deb!! 👏🏼 Now Ollie wants a similar one with Pokemon figures on it 😂. That view sold us the holiday home, we always longed for a sea view but no way could we afford a house with one. This is ours whenever we want it. I just sit and watch the sea for hours, plus there are many super cute bunnies in the field next door! Thanks for watching and hope all is well 💗😘

Hi Carol, we had tourers for 35 years before we bought this in December! We did enjoy our years but my husband was getting a little tired of the hassle of towing and we only had a 2 berth so the family couldn't use it. It was a massive decision for us and we still get the tourer 'fix' by walking round the camp site and seeing them all! I am sure you will agree, you only need to go a couple of miles down the road and you feel you are on holiday. Happy Caravanning!! 🧵😊

You should have seen the puzzled expression on my face when I did read the instructions!! I love that we have more or less the same pairs of trousers, I will always think of you when I wear them 🥰. They haven't got the cool hem like you made though, that was a style feature I wouldn't dare copy! Walking around furniture at 9 months wow!! Little Chloe is only just sitting up. It is crazy how they all develop so differently in the beginning then level out a couple of years later. They are such fun aren't they! 💗

The fleece jacket is adorable Carole! Good job! I like your trousers too. I have made the a couple of pairs of the second linen pants but, I never though5 about takin* in the pant legs. So Carole, you nailed that little jacket, he’s going to be so happy with it! You are a bona fide genius! I love those pants, I have that wardrobe pattern, it’s one of my favorites. The views in your film are gorgeous, how lucky you are to get to see that whenever you wish! Those blue bells are gorgeous, I love them, but none grow around here, unless I plant them. I’m thinking the horrible heat in late summer would kill them dead. Our kitchen garden is growing by leaps and bounds, the corn is jumping out of the ground. Hi Sue, what are you doing to me? I read your comment and then went straight onto Love Notions 😂. The Juliet top was something I admired when I first saw it and went through all my big 4 patterns to find something similar to no avail. I have bought it so when I get up the courage to print it I will have a go! I couldn't resist at that price. Thanks so much for thinking of me or tempting me. Sounds like you have quite the garden over there, how much land do you have? Blue bells tend to exist mainly in forestry areas, they are lovely but have such a short life! @@socarole66 , I’m so glad that you’re not angry with me for tempting you with that pattern, but it had your name on it. I have 105 acres of land here, it used to be a working farm, but since my grandfather died, not so much. We have horses, chickens , dogs and cats, and are getting goats again later this summer. I grew up on this place and inherited it from my mom. 🤪

The jacket looks fantastic! Using RTW as the base isn't cheating, it's "working smarter, not harder." You already make so many things, and the pants are terrific, too. Denim always loosens up for me with wearing and I always regret buying a larger size of jeans as a result. I often under or over estimate on how much fabric to buy - so great you were able to get more of the pink fabric. Love the daisy earrings 😄. Around here Lilies of the Valley and lilacs are blooming and it smells wonderful. There are WWII concrete pillboxes to monitor for invasino on the shoreline in the state of Delaware that fascinated my kids when they were small. It is a pleasure to subscribe to your channel - your videos are wonderful and it is great to learn things from the literally worldwide sewing community!
I love that I 'worked smarter'! Thank you, I always feel I cheat when I buy clothing now. As you say, denim normally does ease. I don't know how old you are but when I was a teenager we used to buy the tightest jeans possible and you needed help to do them up in the shop when trying them on😂, that was before the wonder of stretch denim! That is fascinating that you also had pillboxes in the US, I had no idea about that at all. We all learn so much from each other don't we! Charlie was thrilled with it when I gave it to him today, I just hope nothing happens to that one! I love adding a tie to the front of the trousers, it covers over the bit I hate. That's why I like the 'magic dress' too 🤭 The view is awesome isn't it, it will be ours for 5 years and then we have to decide whether or not to buy a new static caravan on it. Brilliant work with the Cars fleece. What a stupendous recreation. It has all the spirit of the other one if not an exact copy. Great work on the trousers too. Both nicely fitting and very wearable. I’m sure they’ll get lots of wear. Only question is ‘What Spring’?😂 I’d love to be wearing something that isn’t warm and woolly at the moment. The East wind doth blow a bit too much 🥶 I think you’re getting better weather than us on the East coast.

Your Grandson’s jacket was brilliant Carole - hope he loves it! Both pairs of trousers were great too - I’ve just finished a second pair of trousers (New Look 6217) and they’re definitely more my style that those wide leg ones. I need to lengthen them by about 4” though!

It was a lovely walk but sadly Mickey's back legs are quickly deteriorating now so we can't risk dragging him up and down those cliffs. Such a shame but he is nearly 15 so hardly surprising! He watched me from the window 🥰. Have a wonderful week 🧵😊

Oh dear, I didn't realise Rambling was a British thing 😂. It is basically a walking group but called Rambling as it is in the Countryside. I am sure you have something similar, I love it as I get to speak to random people about random things!! Last week it was metal detecting 🤭. ❤I am so glad you were able to recreate that jacket for your grandson. I believe he’s going to love it more than the original because his grandma (whatever name he calls you) did it for him. However, I noticed the comment disappeared later in the day, I don’t know why. Maybe it was because I happened to mention the company that you could purchase it from and somebody didn’t like it. Who knows. The jacket looks lovely and the little guy will be over the moon.

I’ve been thinking about your grandson’s jacket since I watched your video. My grandson is crazy over hot wheels and I think I’ll take your idea, if you don’t mind, and replicate this jacket in a hot wheels,theme.

That jacket is the BEST! ❤ He'll love it! I notice that you use the Big 4 a lot and wonder how you decide on the size. Do you measure all the pattern pieces? I've found that I have trouble with them. I actually have lots of nice patterns handed down to me and wound like to use them but some (most) seem very big when i go by size.
Hello there, thanks so much for your kind comment. I am glad you liked the jacket! Re the Big 4 patterns, I tend to go for a size 10 but would be a size 8 in the shops so I size up. I find they are the 'old sizes' before everyone got a bit bigger!! However, I check the finished garment measurements if quoted and very rarely I do check the pattern pieces. I actually have more trouble with the Indie patterns as they all have different sizes and numbers to each other! Hope that may help? 🧵😊

I love the jacket. Not to brag but I speak fluent french so if you have any problems with the french pattern juat let me know. I know you use the illustrations but the offer is there anyway.
