I fly my Nano QX FPV with Fat Shark Attitude goggles and a Taranis with an Orange module for Spektrum compatibility. I highly recommend it over any of the other micro quads, because this is the only micro quad system I know of that has a great rate mode, can bind to any hobby grade transmitter, and works with nearly any 5.8GHz FPV equipment. Because of that, it makes a great indoor trainer that feels much less like a toy. It is ever so slightly underpowered compared to the non-FPV Nano QX, but it isn't a game breaker. When flying in Safe mode (auto level) sometimes it can get into a fast descent where it doesn't have the power to recover. Even with full throttle, it will descend slowly while twitching because the auto level gains are quite aggressive. This problem doesn't seem to occur in rate mode, but I'm still learning FPV flying in rate mode! I plan on grabbing some of the medium motor upgrades from Micro Motor Warehouse. I have them on my non-FPV Nano QX and that was a great upgrade.
Please stop complimenting every product. They are not all good. I appreciate your attempt to be objective. When I'm watching your show I'm looking for what products I need to stay away from as much as the products I can TRUST to be of value. It does no one any good to be polite to the manufacturer's. Including the manufacturer!
I like alex and josh for their professional behavior.... peter is a real nerd. not saying that this is a bad thing in general, but dont let him interrupt you all the time, he is good in building and tech etc, but he is not a showhost!!
There is one big benefit to the Nano QX and that is that it uses CIRCULAR POLARIZATION, especially when you are flying indoors, it is far less susceptible to multi-path interference which you would get when the signal bounces around all the walls in your house. With the other tow you will get alot more multipathing.
you guys should do another micro fpv shoot out with the best newest ones out this year. say the new fpv blade nano qx 2, the hubsan h107d plus and the gteng t901f. that would be dope
I love how everyone in the Flitetest location just instinctively moves out of the way when they hear a nano quad. No questions, no yelling, just like its a daily routine. XD
Hi Guys! Love your show as always. I just got my Hubsan FPV Quad copter finished and it works great. The Copter startet it's life as a Hubsan X4 with the litle 0.3MP Cam for recording. I removed the Cam and fitited a smal Cam from Hobbyking and the 200mW transmitter you guys used on your micro FPV system. Going down that way has a lot of advantiges. I've got 200mW of Power, thats GREAT. I can use my normal FPV gear, so I don't have to get used to a diffferent screen. And the price is quite nice as well. I'll have to put up some Videos of it soon. Gerat work and keep going!
I went from Dual Coaxials and Fixed pitch 4ch, to a Hubsan X4 (720p cam, no FPV) My first flight? yeah I crashed it, but honestly it was the just-unboxed-itus. I normally know better then to throw new aircraft in the air in wind. Quickly I learned one hard fact about the Hubsan, it drifts on like crazy with hands of the sticks! Helicopters have more drag and aerodynamics working on them to weather-vane the tail and point the nose in the direction of travel, and the drag also slows them down more. The Hubsan just slides and slides! (which.. is honestly kinda helpful for some kinds of shots with the cam)
I have the Hubsan H107D and as mentioned elsewhere in the comments you can easily increase the field of view by attaching a magnetic wide angle lens sold for use on mobile phones. A set of these lenses offering differing field of views can be obtained for about £5/$10. Regards Nidge
I have both the Blade Nano QX and Hubsan h107d. After flying them for the last two weeks, I have found I like the FPV of the Blade and the stability and control of the Hubsan. The approximate battery time for the Blade is 3:40 while the Hubsan is 5:00. The Blade is much quieter than the Hubsan. Calibration is easier with the hubsan. And their both rather broken now, the Blade started flying funny and eventually cracked a prop, and the Hubsan video is always transmitted black. I think possibly why the Blade went bad is that I was often popping props off to remove tangled hair, it seemed to collect it easily while the Hubsan never did that.
joshua potter I have the same issue, however its www.banggood.com (with TWO g's )for the store to get them. Here is the link to the brown ribbon one: www.banggood.com/Hubsan-X4-H107D-FPV-RC-Quadcopter-Spare-Parts-RX-TX-Cable-H107D-04-p-922809.html
joshua potter Oh, and while I am at it, BG also has a 3-blade propeller set for the h107d... they would be great if they were actually the right diameter, too small by too much. The stock props are 1.09" (27.7mm) RADIUS, the triple blades are 0.888" (22.6mm) radius, so you can see there is a big difference (5.1mm RADIUS) overall for that size quad. It was a good idea, runs a lot quieter, but not enough to hold the bird up in the air, and runs out the battery super fast. [Sigh] I unfortunately bought 5 sets.
that's funny that you found a 3 blade prop for it. I was just sitting on the couch a few days ago wondering if there was a 3 blade prop out there for the h107d. then I wondered if the new 200sr tail blade would work.(with a lot of prop shaft mods)
joshua potter I put in a negative review (I wasn't alone) and my suggestions for the 3-blades, Banggood is looking into the matter. Good prices, super long shipping, but its free.
I would also recommend the Ladybird FPV from Walkera. It has a transmitter with a monitor and you can also use the Fatshark goggles if my memory serves me right. No panic button or bank/tilt limits though. The ladybird though is somewhat older, had it before I even heard of the ordinary protoX or Blade Nano QX.
I would like to see a diy brushless gimbal build. Or brushless gimbal controller shootout. Or fpv camera shoot out. Thank you for all the great videos. Keep up the great work guys.
Interesting results,my wl toys v686 is FPV it is 5.8 ghz, not cheesy wi fi and works really well for under 60.00, it came with everything from the quad, to the radio, battery ,and even the fpv screen, you really can't beat it.
awesome video guys I was looking to buy a fpv Quad but I couldn't make up my mind and now I think i'm going for the Hubsan H107D thanks guys keep it up
You guys should do an updated video of this with the new super cheap banggood stuff. The Eachine E010S and similar stuff (maybe compared to these and a home built TinyWhoop).
I have the Nano QX, love the thing to death. Flies awesome. Lacks in power for sure but it is still fun. I'm gonna get some 7mm motors and take it up a notch :)
***** I just installed the fast ones on my Nano FPV QX, which is underpowered without upgrade, and it will hover at about 1/4 to 1/3 throttle! The motors are definitely worth the $25 for 4 of them.
My Blade has been nothing but head aches....and my dog hates it too LOL! Mine came with the FPV camera and it took a hard landing and busted the wireless board IC chip. This could have been prevented if Blade left the plastic housing on the camera unit. The Blade also can be carried off by the slightest breeze so beware on taking it outside.
I have the hubsan and have a 120deg lens installed. it is a blast to fly around the house. I was going to get the proto x fpv for the hd video. I think you guys just saved me. I didn't know about the lag issue when recording hd video. I will probably go a different rout. it would be nice if you could use the hubsan / proto x tx with other models cause its cheep and the screen is pretty nice.
I got my father the Hubsan for Christmas. Very locked in and a great picture too. It's sends back 60fps to the Tx. I got some Fatshark Dominator V1s for my 250 racer and tried it out with those. Had a very good experience. She gets buffeted about quite a bit even with the slightest breeze so flying outdoors is only recommended on a totally still day. On another note you guys should totally go back to Darren Casey about supplying speedbuild kits to the UK. They would sell like hotcakes here. I scratch built the FT Flyer from the plans but I would have had a much easier time with a kit.
I just ordered the Hubsan X4 H107C 2.4G 4CH RC Quadcopter With HD 2 MP Camera RTF - (Special Royal Blue Edition - Tekstra Brands Exclusive!!) today. Will be here tomorrow.😀
YAY YOU REVIEWED A HUBSAN~ I was TOTALLY hoping you'd look at these awesome little buggers. I've had an X4 and X6 mini quad, and they are such fun little things ^_^ The X4 is capable of some mild aerobatics, and the X6 on pro mode is surprising me with rolls and loops!
I think the video from the hubsan and nano qx are mixed up! At 2:23 the middle guy is handed the controls (siliver) for the nano and uses the left screen to fly. At 3:08 not only is he the only one flying (using the silver controller), the FPV view is from the left screen. Through out, you can see that that screen is connected to the nano.
I have the Hubsan, and the Blade, and I have to say the Blade is my new favorite indoor fpv quad.. But I still prefer the Hubsan for outdoor, and LOS flying.. I will pick up a Estes when/if they offer a BNF version...
I have the Hubsan and it has a stability mode and it makes it evey easy to fly. You can also get Hubsan FPV goggles from Hubsan that plug right into the transmitter. There about a $100 bucks. There not the best but it's not to bad. I trained on my Hubsan before I upgraded to a bigger machine
Thanks again for the informative review. One caveat, the camera work was in the "way" (not the usual smooth Flite Test video). In second half, zoomed-in to tight (on one person at the bench) a more milder, wide shot inclusive of all three would work better with added benefit of less hand-held hurky-jerky motion.
The prices you give for the MQs don't jive with the actual Amazon prices which are much higher. That is true for the links you supply. Where did you get those prices?
FliteTest I few questions that were not talked about in the video. What is the flight time of each one with the included batteries? What size batteries did they each come with and is it possible to use as larger size battery in any of these micro quads for extended flight times?
Haven't watched the whole video yet so if it came up, ignore this, but it would be a good idea if you guys make a point to talk about how HAM licencing is required in the USA for FPV transmitters above 25mw.
So the hubsan spyhawk is illeagle for me to own on account it uses a 200mw Tx? And there's no warning anywhere that ithe operator needs a HAM license to use the product.
I defiantly like the hubsan alot. For me the only flaw with it is the lens is really narrow. Im planning on doing a mod with a fish eye lens to make the fov a little wider.
There's some great ways to improve the field of view on these drones, especially on the Hubsan, you can use the Lens D from the 808 Keychain camera! Just google for "808 Lens D" and you should be able to pick some up for around 10 bucks on bangood or aliexpress or similar. Then you just swap out the lenses and you're good to go. There's tutorials here on UA-cam! I did that swap with my 107C model (the non FPV model) and i get very very nice results with that lens!
The problem I had with my goggles is the bottom of the eye piece put pressure right on the blood vessels below my eyes and it would look like I was crying all day. I modified them by attaching them to a cheap face guard used for cutting wood, they work like a welders helmet. Now the weight is on my head which is comfortable, and the face guard can be moved up or down to bring the goggles down to my eyes or propped up. It works good. I can make a video of the mod if anyone wants to see it.
IMO the Nano QX exposes the progress in RC aircraft better than any other RC aircraft. To think you can get 4 channel rotor craft time without damage was unheard of not that long ago. But I feel HH lost out on an opportunity by not supporting it more when it came out allowing its focus to be lost rather than taking advantage of its initial surprise and having upgrades available including a programmable FCB to allow faster motors without loss of PID timings. As a training aid it is excellent as it lets you practice every day just about any where and flies well outside even in a light wind making a small back yard a reasonable flying area. However the biggest flaw is the batteries. Only the 45C 150mAh batteries last and for me coming from hour long glider flights anything less than 5 minutes is just to short a time for an RC aircraft capable of flying a respectable distance. I like to return home:-O Because of the hassle charging and maintaining the tiny 1S batteries I have parked it due to battery costs not being feasible where I can get a 3S 650mAh battery for less than one Nano QX battery. Flight test should do a video on building a balanced charger board/wire lead so you can balance charge 6 batteries at a time as if charging a single 150mAh 6S (or higher) battery. Why HH has not done this just shows how far behind the curve they are on the potential of the Nano QX as other companies offer high performance direct drive micro quads that the Nano QX has the potential of being. And it needs a lost model locator buzzer that comes on where the TX is turned off. Hopefully HH will advance their 180 size gear reduction quads for FPV as they likely offer the best compromise allowing longer flight times. And I hope HH advances their head tracking using their micro camera not mentioned to higher resolution and larger FOV. Small quads for FPV protect the hobby. DJI should be ashamed for not limiting altitude to 400 ft on their new quads.
Another great video guys So what was the range with the nano blade I use dominator / not HD but the v2 $340 are all you'll ever need the HD are a waist of $$
I see at the end that the Blade micro made it to the FliteTest 'bone yard'. Did the others make it? Also, why no side-by-side comparo of the fields of view of all of them?
thechosendude The Hubsan might be more stable, sure, but the blade is definitely the most agile and the control board is a lot better. The ability to use a high quality transmitter also helps.
i love these guys only guys i know that can review and keep everything fair to help them and the hobby/seller/buyer the great balancers of fact```~~~ Love you guys :no homo
DuncanL7979 They are using GoPros for about everything and probably buy / replace them weekly because of crashes. So, no paid placement, just regular show equipment.
Hubsan has the best range. Field of view is OK, not bad. very low cost. lots of good mods. Nano QX is very agile. And has better field of view. not user friendly (beginners). Very durable. Proto X has the worst range(not bad) but is good in flying and is stable. Good for recording (non FPV). I think Hubsan wins. It has good range and mods can improve it even more. It can eventake a bigger battery(up to 450-500 mah) for longer flights.
Thanks man. I was looking into these and couldn't really decide between the Proto X or the Hubsan. That helped me out a lot with my decision so thank you.
@FLITETEST DO YOU GUYS STILL CONSIDER THESE GREAT STARTERS OR HAS THERE BEEN A NEW ADDITION. MY 6 AND 10 YEAR OLD SONS ARE EXPECTING SOME QUADS FOR CHRISTMAS AND IM LEANING TOWARD THE HUBSAN.
+GoProMotions This are still considered as great starter. I would choose Nano QX for beginners as it is more durable. Though you need to buy a LOT of props!
could you review the cheerson cx-10 (worlds smaller quad copter) ? Just wondered what you would think of it as its so cheap and a great way to get new comers into the hobby
I got the H107D for christmas and it is an amazing quad! I was impressed by how such a small model could carry such good FPV gear!
I fly my Nano QX FPV with Fat Shark Attitude goggles and a Taranis with an Orange module for Spektrum compatibility. I think ( and I'm sure many will agree ) that you should do a full tour of the ft building/ shop!
It would be great
Please stop complimenting every product.
They are not all good. I appreciate your attempt to be objective. When I'm watching your show I'm looking for what products I need to stay away from as much as the products I can TRUST to be of value. It does no one any good to be polite to the manufacturer's. Including the manufacturer!

I miss tiny Josh :(
hyppyrotta71 Yeah lol
hyppyrotta71 Gota say I don't. He didn't really bring anything to the table and I found him kind of grating.
I disagree. I like peter. He adds a little more technical knowledge which i like.
Tom Wilkinson
Josh was fun. and he will be back.
There is one big benefit to the Nano QX and that is that it uses CIRCULAR POLARIZATION, especially when you are flying indoors, it is far less susceptible to multi-path interference which you would get when the signal bounces around all the walls in your house. With the other tow you will get alot more multipathing.
Had the Nano QX FPV for a few weeks now and I really like it! Perfect to be able to fly FPV in the wintertime :)

Thanks for reviewing these over the shelf items, I really enjoy the shoot outs and challenges!

And the price is quite nice as well.
I'll have to put up some Videos of it soon.
Gerat work and keep going!
Always nice to have a flute test episode to get through mondays.
The narrow fov on the hubsan can be sorted by fixing a wide - angle lens on. The ones designed for increasing the fov on phone cameras.
always fun to watch these, even if i cant afford one or have a place to fly the planes you usually show
What a way to make a cool birthday eating some cold stone ice cream cake watching flite tests thanks for everything .
Happy Birthday!!!!
Happy b-day
Happy birthday to you
Happy Birthday! :)
Happy B-day, fatso! ;-)
Amazing how fast mini quads with FPV have flooded the market since 2015.
I went from Dual Coaxials and Fixed pitch 4ch, to a Hubsan X4 (720p cam, no FPV) My first flight? yeah I crashed it, but honestly it was the just-unboxed-itus. joshua potter thanks, I'll check that out, I have the newer soldered ribbon.

No panic button or bank/tilt limits though. The ladybird though is somewhat older, had it before I even heard of the ordinary protoX or Blade Nano QX.
For a moment there I felt like in the movie "batteries not included" thanks guys! loved the review!
Ed
Thanks for this video FlightTest, very helpful for helping me choose a micro fpv.
Thanks for the review. You convinced me to get the Nano. On the side note, working at your company looks fun!!!!!
Thanks so munch for doing this episode guys you are the best!
I would like to see a diy brushless gimbal build. Or brushless gimbal controller shootout. Or fpv camera shoot out. Thank you for all the great videos. Keep up the great work guys.

awesome video guys I was looking to buy a fpv Quad but I couldn't make up my mind and now I think i'm going for the Hubsan H107D thanks guys keep it up
cant stop watching this video i love it so much i watched it about 6 times
I got my Hubsan FPV and love it! It is hard to get used to the narrow fov though.. I just make sure to fly in huge open spaces lol
You guys should do an updated video of this with the new super cheap banggood stuff. The Eachine E010S and similar stuff (maybe compared to these and a home built TinyWhoop).
Elias Fowler yea a brushed micro build or alternative frames for once these break. some real nice gear at nice prices. got me looking into 2s lol.
I have the Nano QX, love the thing to death. Flies awesome. Lacks in power for sure but it is still fun. I'm gonna get some 7mm motors and take it up a notch :)
Sounds fun!
FliteTest you should check out and do a review on Micro Motor Warehouse. They are some of the nicest micro motors you can get your hands on.
KpilotRCHelis One of my friends showed me there site seems like some cool stuff they got over there.
***** I just installed the fast ones on my Nano FPV QX, which is underpowered without upgrade, and it will hover at about 1/4 to 1/3 throttle! The motors are definitely worth the $25 for 4 of them.

If you add a wide angle lens to the hubsan then it will be the best, check out the rcgroups thread by bangkomit on how to do that
I'd love one of those all-in-one transmitters. Especially if the settings could be adjusted on screen. So much nicer then my T6B
I really would have liked to see a range test outdoors, just how far will they go?
Best UA-cam channel ever!
I have the hubsan and have a 120deg lens installed. it is a blast to fly around the house. I was going to get the proto x fpv for the hd video. I think you guys just saved me. I just ordered the Hubsan X4 H107C 2.4G 4CH RC Quadcopter With HD 2 MP Camera RTF - (Special Royal Blue Edition - Tekstra Brands Exclusive!!) today. Will be here tomorrow.😀
Can you make a vid on the heli carrier. Keep up the good work.
I got the proto x for christmas. Havent been outside yet because of snow and -30 * temperature. Cant wait to let her rip
YAY YOU REVIEWED A HUBSAN~
I was TOTALLY hoping you'd look at these awesome little buggers. I've had an X4 and X6 mini quad, and they are such fun little things ^_^ The X4 is capable of some mild aerobatics, and the X6 on pro mode is surprising me with rolls and loops!
Finally this came out
Hey guys the hudson x4 h107d is now about 50 bucks on Amazon right now
I got one on ebay last week for $18. Got the h109 for $25, got the h107d+ for $25 and the h107c for $9. All with shipping included.
I think the video from the hubsan and nano qx are mixed up!

Awesome video guys I have the hubsan x4 and its an awesome beginner quad .
Love this. I was hoping to get into FPV quads and this helped find me some great options
3:10 coolest thing ever, that dude kills it flying and building
Nice flight guys and great review
Thanks again for the informative review.

This video is FUN to watch but damn its chaotic... like total chaos.
In my country, the nano qx begin with the transmiter and with the fat shark fpv glasses, but cost 449.99.
Relly like reviews and comparisons you guys are great!
Awesome video! Love to get the blade one with googles! Just don't know anything about the goggles you get with it!
they aren't great IMO but they work
FliteTest I few questions that were not talked about in the video. What is the flight time of each one with the included batteries? What size batteries did they each come with and is it possible to use as larger size battery in any of these micro quads for extended flight times?

***** I think it's about 10mw right?
Klinger RC 10-25mw seem to be the consensus, hard to find a precise value unfortunately (for the vtx in the Nano QX FPV that is).
So the hubsan spyhawk is illeagle for me to own on account it uses a 200mw Tx? And there's no warning anywhere that ithe operator needs a HAM license to use the product.
joshua potter why are you worried, nobody is going to pull them apart to check them
I'm not worried. it all just seems a bit fishy
I think you guys should do a review on the quark mini drone.
Could y'all do more quad builds and challenges or just more about quads
I have a horizon mini camera on my duet that transmits to my dominator v2s. and it's amazing. I will actually be making a video on it soon!
Can't wait to see it!
I think there is a typo in the title? Anyway, LOVE THE VIDS!
I would like to have full explanations of the remote control base, how to set the diverse commands to make easier the indoors flying.
Thanks
Which Reciever were you using for the Nano QX? And which antenna?
Great episode guys, love you.
I defiantly like the hubsan alot. For me the only flaw with it is the lens is really narrow. Im planning on doing a mod with a fish eye lens to make the fov a little wider.
Just buy a wide lens for it
There's some great ways to improve the field of view on these drones, especially on the Hubsan, you can use the Lens D from the 808 Keychain camera!
3:52 "Hi Dave" Made me laugh
Thank guys, great show !
I'd like to see that :) Perhaps you can even make an article on the FT website? flitetest.com/articles/get-your-articles-published
The things I would do to be able to work there with you guys....
That's the dreamjob at the TOP of my list
What do you guys use to hang your helicopters and airplanes form the ceiling????
Launch those drones off the heli carrier and make an episode out of it, That would be cool.
about time!
Dope track at the end
Thumbs up if you have a hubsan x4.
Nice. Is there one that works with boscam frequencies and frsky?
Loved the vid guys.
Cool Shirt Alex!
Love my Nano QX :D
Is the fpv camera removable on that?
Yeah you can remove it
Another great video guys
So what was the range with the nano blade
I use dominator / not HD but the v2 $340 are all you'll ever need the HD are a waist of $$
I'm thinking on sometime getting a nano qx fpv and making a frame for racing out of balsa wood or some other type of material...
I see at the end that the Blade micro made it to the FliteTest 'bone yard'. Did the others make it? Also, why no side-by-side comparo of the fields of view of all of them?
The Hubsan X4 is the best, always has been.
Ya, it's definitely the most stable. Josh was just being a Horizon fanboy with his love for the Blade.
thechosendude The Hubsan might be more stable, sure, but the blade is definitely the most agile and the control board is a lot better. The ability to use a high quality transmitter also helps.
That is so cool I am going to get the white one for sure
i love these guys only guys i know that can review and keep everything fair to help them and the hobby/seller/buyer the great balancers of fact```~~~ Love you guys :no homo
This video in a nutshell :
WARNING SPOILERS.
-----------------------------
"Hey, theres a GoPro there!"
Yep, that pretty much sums it all up.
Paid product placement?
That helped me out a lot with my decision so thank you.
jordan john what a shame! I prefer the proto x design.
I like the Hubsan it looks a lot better built.
Love your channel guys!
Where are you based?
nice video. hubsan ftw
7.36 , Peters eyes ahahhahahahhah
Did you guys make a flying aircraft carrier?
could you review the cheerson cx-10 (worlds smaller quad copter) ?
Just wondered what you would think of it as its so cheap and a great way to get new comers into the hobby
Awesome. Very informative
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHH NUUUUUUUUUUUU YOOOU MISSPELLED YOUR CHANNNEELLLL AND THE TITLEEE ITS SPEELLLING FLIGHTTTT
So Cool! Can you guys do a video on the DJI Inspire 1?!!!
According to the podcast they've already ordered one.
What about the fpv range test of the other two?Thank you
