I am not, however, a licensed dermatologist or esthetician, nor do I claim to know more than either. I have checked with multiple dermatologists and estheticians to ensure that my use of the word 'specialist' is appropriate, to which they have confirmed so long as I disclose that I am not a dermatologist or esthetician. After consulting my subscribers as well, I felt that because the term specialist is my career title and is deemed appropriate by licensed professionals, I would prefer to use it instead of the terms 'expert' or 'guru', neither of which apply to me because I consider myself far below 'expert status'. If you have concerns about your skin, I always recommend going to either a dermatologist or esthetician to resolve your concern.*

Marlène Y Because natural doesn’t mean better, you will never get as much effects as something formulated in a lab by professional who knows exactly how your skin works. You can still use natural thing but I’d rather use a gel of aloe Vera than the leaf itself cause it will be less concentrated and it can have some shit in there. Taking the things of your fridge and putting it on your face without knowing exactly what it does and the risks isn’t better than using a chemical (but everything is a chemical). Don’t do diy skincare because Pinterest told you to, the things in your kitchen still contains pesticides and things like that so you’ll get more benefits by eating it than putting it on your skin. We are in a time where we have plenty of non natural ingredients but that are really good for you. I hope you understand what I mean cause I am not fluent in English. Have a good day :)

I work in prison in Canada. Inmates here are allowed to buy goods from approved vendors like shoppers drug mart. So they can have access to name brand supplies. They also have a canteen where they can buy hygiene items and food/snack items that are name brand as well. While working for three years in a women’s prison one of the inmate bought some high end skin care products on a regular basis. The other ladies would buy makeup instead of skincare. I spent time in an Aussie prison. And wow the difference is astronomical. Night and day. So we can buy from the canteen. There’s a basic cleanser, moisturiser. Like Nivea. Then medical also had free stuff for us. Cetaphil wash and cream. And we could get vaseline and/or paw paw cream from medical. Every so often. That’s because “dry skin” is a skin condition and it’s considered healthcare.
If you wanted something more luxury: I did, you could get special spends. That’s once a month you get a catalog where you can choose what you want from Priceline (drugstore). I would get a toner and an exfoliant.
    It was super basic.
Makeup was different too. I would wear it everyday. We could also buy it from canteen (savvy brand). But if you wanted brushes or other stuff, once a month special spends

First name Last Name make sure you do it in Australia then! 😂
If you’re a long termer that behaves well, your accomodation is usually in the “open units”. Which is literally a cottage, with different rooms, some doubles and singles. And a lounge room with a tv/couches. Kitchen (you do your own food shopping list and cook your own meals within the budget, $6 per day per prisoner), and there is an office for the officers to “supervise” (go on the computer and watch random stuff lol), but at lock down, they leave. Front door is locked. But we are allowed free reign inside. So it’s basically like a bunch of women in a unit together. You can sleep out in the lounge room and watch a movie. Sleep over in someone else’s bedroom. It’s not like the lockdown units where you have a “cell” with a locked door, that your bathroom is inside with a desk/shower/toilet/bed/kettle/tv.
We even did face masks and had midnight snacks (natio face masks).
Oh I didn’t murder anyone. FYI

Lol everyone wants to help inmates in prison and shit but tbh why should we be spending a lot of tax money when we are already in dept just so that inmates can get skin care and shit. I don’t think people know the difference. If you want skin care. Don’t do illegal drugs and get caught. Don’t rob banks in exchange for a short some of money to be taken away from you as soon as you got caught. Or people who killed their wives, husbands, kids. People who raped little kids. And now we need to give them more freedom? The reason they don’t treat inmates with respect is because when you do shit like that you really think anyone’s gonna want to go up and give him a high five like he’ll yeah. No. I could see them maybe seperating inmates who have done serious crimes and over hyped misdemeanor cases. Because I’m sorry I don’t think someone who could have harmed children or killed people should be getting rehabilitated they should be dead. So their alternative is 5x better than where they should be

Do you seriously think that people in jail over drug offenses don't deserve to learn from their experiences and become better people? Also regarding the tax money argument, in the end, it costs more money to keep allll of these people in jail than to rehabilitate them for a reasonable amount of time and let them out when they are no longer a threat to society or at risk to commit more crimes. And I don't mean by this to not punish anyone, but there is a huge difference between child molesters or mass murderers and people who maybe sold and used drugs out of desperation at one point.

True story! I have no idea what they used to build the gun, but my ex got a tattoo the last time he was in prison a couple years ago. The dude must've really known his stuff because it actually looks professional. Really clean lines, ink evenly distributed in the skin and hasn't faded or bled at all. I'm sure it's more a testament to the person's skill than anything, and he got lucky being able to get well done prison ink. I've seen some that look pretty derpy lol.

Came here for the skin care reactions, but the prison reform aspect of this was SO important. This month I completed graduate school for policy analysis and I did my thesis on substance abuse rehabilitation within the prison system. 80% of the people in prison are there because of nonviolent, substance abuse related offenses that stem from past trauma. But only 10% receive any sort of rehabilitation treatment while in prison that prepares them for successful societal reintegration. Thank you for using your platform to shed light on this incredibly important subject.

I truly think that drugs need to be decriminalized in the states, or really everywhere. If anyone is curious as to why I say this, research how Portugal did it, and see how their drug problem has been DRAMATICALLY decreased by upwards of 70% due to drug decriminalization in the last 15 or so years. Private prisons make money based off how many beds are filled, so they benefit greatly from people's addictions, when in reality addiction IS A DISEASE. I don't care who disagrees. If you do, I'm glad you have that privileged of a life. I would know, I'm one of the lucky ones who has never had a drug addiction affect my life, either personally or in my nuclear family/friend groups.
Why do you (not Hyram, but people who may disagree with me here) think most people start doing these horrible drugs in the first place? It isn't because they're bored, or happy, it's due to trauma and/or shitty life circumstances. After doing a project on this in college, my eyes have finally been opened as to why these private prisons are evil, despicable *companies* that need prisoners in order to fill their own pockets, and who's the easiest target? Drug users.
Portugal knows what's up, stopped that shit, and now the country that used to have the highest rate of HIV-related deaths (and an average of one heroin addict per household in 2000) now has one of the lowest rates of drug-related deaths in Europe.
America needs to catch the fuck up and stop selfishly throwing people with a problem in jail.

yes, exactly my words!! Thank you so much! This is a topic I feel strongly about as my brother, who died from a drug OD, experienced horrible things like this, and a family friend who is in and out of prison for drugs and small things like shoplifting but since he had past charges they gave him 3 years prison. Both also had really bad mental problems and life problems (which caused them to start) but were not able to get help while incarcerated. I have been trying to open peoples eyes, even though I am very young. We need to stop being ignorant and prejudice and realize that people with Substance Use Disorder are real people with real problems that are only worsened by criminalization. Ok end of rant lol sorry

I am extremely late on this comment but my senior year of high school, two years ago, I had to do a research paper on solitary confinement and I remember exactly learning about private prisons purposely crowd themselves because they make money off of how many beds are filled. We watched a video about Nordic prisons and how they actually have a lot of ways to help that person rehabilitate their actions so they become a better person and learn from their mistakes

    • @werm3169

STRAIGHT FAX. If drugs are decriminalised, people will be able to get help for their addictions.
If someone is willing to put a harmful substance into their body, they will do it regardless of whether it's legal or not. Bottom line. Drug abuse is a last ditch effort to be able to cope with pain. People with drug addictions need _help_ not _punishment._
