This is the issue. The cities that have the warehouses are getting the tax revenue. The other cities do not want the warehouse in their community, but want a cut of the tax revenue. If you want the revenue, then have the warehouses.
I agree. And there are expenses with warehouse energy uses and labor expense too and maintenance costs for the warehouse. No other cities were willing to take those costs for the city. I'd say that Dinuba made a great investment for the city and it's residents. I'd say a 50% tax revenue back to the corporation is an okay deal as well, though I would bargain for a lesser percentage even though corporations have more leverage in this case. Broker commission however...might be too high and should have been a one-time commission fee in my eyes, though it's not illegal. It was part of the deal. I'd say its better for a city to gain some revenue (in this case its a lot) than no revenue. Reedley seems to want that Dinuba privilege without doing the work. MANY of the props are for increases in the local sales taxes.
Shouldnt the upkeep be done by the owners/business themselves not the city/taxpayer? No one pays for my home's upkeep and I dont expect anyone else to. What my tax dollars do is pay for the roads parks, and public places to get to my home, not the home itself.
